Friday Favorites!

(top, bottoms, headband, shoes)

Ten miles @ 8:38 average with Emilee and all of the hills. It was another freezing day, but I think Utah has reached its peak for winter, and each day will get better and better.

Is it possible to take too much liquid with you on errands?

Well, Skye has a Valentine now…
Even though I’m trying so hard to keep her my baby.
A little sunshine, and they are out biking and playing soccer.

He’s ready to get trying out the Peloton.

PS funny correlation I realized—> As my mileage goes up, my desire to cook lessens ha so I’m guessing we will have more simple dinners every night.

Let’s move into some favorites for the week!

*Birthday month means I buy myself gifts;). I had a gift card to Lulu, and when I saw this jacket and the color (even a prettier color in person) in the store, I purchased it immediately. It is helping me to get through our forever winter;) It’s really warm and water/windproof.

*Ross is my favorite Yoga instructor on the Peloton app. He plays the BEST music, and I swear he must be a runner because he always does the moves that runners need.

*I look forward to The New York Times Running newsletter each week. This talk about the Arrowhead 135 ultramarathon made me shiver just reading about it.
*I gave this set to my mom and MIL, and they both wear it all the time and have bought more in different colors. I think it looks so good on them; they say it is the most comfortable thing they own.
*My current happy set-up that is saving me this winter and bringing me delicious drinks after freezing runs. Electric kettlemug and frother. These things bring me so much joy
*I cannot get enough of Des and Kara’s podcast. This episode was fabulous, and what I would have given for this type of information in my earlier years of running…
*This tip from Jenny! I’ll be trying the Aquaphor (or treadmill) next time it is 10°.

Any fun weekend plans?

Huge fan of using Aquaphor when running in the winter! I use it especially under my nose which always seems to run when I am running in the cold and it is a lifesaver! Would definitely recommend trying it!

Totally going to do it! Thanks! Have a great day, Becky!

A few things!
First Utah made it into Up First News podcast today. Salt Lake City is drying up-yikes! They do make a point that it has been a snowy winter for you guys. And a comment about your air quality.
Next. I LOVED the recent episode of Nobody Asked Us. Lauren made a great point about the brief shorts/women’s uniforms. If the buns/briefs truly made us faster then the men would be wearing them. I love the perspective from this podcast!
Ending with: I’m hopeful to finish my current book this weekend, I’m Glad My Mom Died. WOW! What a crazy story. This book is so well written. It makes me want to never watch a TV show or movie with any child actors.
Have a great Friday!

Molly! Ugggg the Great Salt Lake stresses me out and really hoping all of the snow helps! That part was shocking to me… how have I never realized that? Why just the women?? That book was insane. I cannot believe what she went through.
Hope your weekend is a great one!

I can’t believe I haven’t tried one of Ross’s yoga classes yet. I need to this weekend!
So cute that Skye has a Valentine. And your mom is adorable.
I love getting Tina Muir’s newsletter, The Rambling Runner, and Ali’s newsletters. They’re each different, but always so good and full of good info, tips, discussion.
I still haven’t listened to Des and Kara’s podcast! I’m hooked on a true crime podcast right now. So good, sometimes so creepy.
No big plans for the weekend, but that is ok. The next couple of weekends are going to be really busy, so I will enjoy the quiet for a bit.
Have a great weekend!

You’ll have to let me know what you think of Ross. Off to sign up for all 3 of those newsletters! At some point you’ll have to tell me which podcast you are listening to.. I love true crime. Yay for a quiet weekend, you need it! Happy Friday, Wendy!

The podcast is called Crime Junkie (crimejunkiepodcast.com), and it’s so good! It started back in December of 2017, but I just discovered it a few weeks ago. I have been binge listening to catch up to the new current episodes, ha ha.

Oh my goodness, I love that podcast! Thank you for reminding about them!

That episode of Nobody asked us was so good! I really want to read her book now.

Tomorrow is ice cream for breakfast day, so going running with my friends and then to a local creamery for breakfast! Also going bowling with some friends in the afternoon. Have a good weekend :)

I love, love, love my electric kettle too. Yours is so pretty!
I live in Minnesota & I am so impressed they were out running Arrowhead this week. It was SO cold here! I think they said it was -25 at the race start this week. 135 miles is impressive even when it’s not subzero. These sorts of tough races are so fun to follow – anyone that even STARTS that race is impressive!
The last thing I bought from Amazon was a Melissa & Doug scissor skills activity book. It’s basically a pad of paper with different colorful patterns/shapes/designs to cutout. We brought it on a little trip and my 4 yr old loved it & the 6 yr old had fun with it too (& we loved it as a quiet, entertaining activity for mornings).
Not sure what the weekend looks like quite yet, but always look forward to it anyways. Hope yours is great too!

I totally agree, even just starting something like that is so admirable. -25 = I would be inside next to my fireplace. We have the scissor activity books, they are amazing! Enjoy your weekend and thanks, Katie!

Super random, but I just wanted to pop by and say that I know the guy who got third in the Arrowhead 135! He and his partner are extremely sweet and also awesome at ultras. :)

No. Way. Tell them I think they are the coolest. Have a beautiful day, Valerie!

Weekend plans, trying to replace the water valve in my clothes washer. lol good luck to me ;)

Last thing I bought from amazon, just now -the CUTE set your mom is so stylish in! I tried the rust color, hopefully that’s going to be pretty and not weird.

A fantastic podcast is Criminal – the host Pheobe has an incredible voice, and the episodes aren’t gruesome so much as interesting even funny. She also hosts This Is Love which is heartwarming and so great! Highly recommend.

I love Nobody Asked Us, I find myself saving it to listen to on a run.

That jacket is super cute and different!! Happy Birthday month, 2 of my kids are February bdays.

I love getting Fast Women from Alison Wade and Six Minute mile. Both are great, succinct sources of running info.

Have a super weekend! We had a snow day yesterday and now we are under flood and wind warnings. I did squeeze in 8 miles after work today and found a loop that had less wind. Hope it lessens for the weekend, although I have been known to do a tailwind ride which has it’s merits ;) haha.
