(shirt, pants, shoes)

Purple lips.

PS this is my new favorite winter running top.  It’s a bit thicker than my other long-sleeve tops, and I love that I can unsnap the front if I am feeling too hot or snap them back up when I need more coverage.  I highly recommend it, and it’s on sale too.

Yesterday felt like we were running around a snow globe.
My friends are very supportive of my goals to get better at the uphills (somehow, they can run straight up a mountain without breathing hard), so they chose the course.

We climbed 1k ft over the 10 miles @ 8:42 pace.
Our ski resort has been closed for the last two days because of how much snow we are getting here and the weather hazards. It’s crazy!
Whenever I wear this hat, I am reminded of my ultra-training days. I wore this hat most days that winter. The ultra was a one-and-done for me unless my friends someday convinced me to do one with me and promised to run every step with me.
Beretta was happy that we couldn’t ski so she could play with the kids in the snow.

Let’s get on to some tangents…

*Interesting… I’ve tried most of these, but I want to try them all. And I vote that the Vaporfly is faster than the Alphafly. (Source from 2021… if anyone has an updated list, let me know).

*I’m not much of an oreo fan, but these are good……….

*It’s true.

*Featherstone Nutrition’s winter salad. You need this. I want to have this every day for lunch.

*I quit soda again… day 2.

Have any tangents for us??

Feelings about Oreos, and do you have a favorite flavor?

Who else is getting non-stop snow?

How long will it take you to get used to writing 2023?

-Usually, August is when I get the hang of remembering the year change.

I think I need to fully quit soda as well. I like to drink a coke when I have a headache, it really helps but then it’s a slippery slope to drinking it all the time.

I can’t believe how much snow you are getting, we are getting above average but nothing like you guys.

Your pictures out running in the snow look so beautiful, I am going to try to get out on a snowy run soon! I just signed up for my 10th marathon and I am excited to start training.

Let’s do it together (as you can tell I need help haha)! Ahhhh so exciting, what marathon? Have a beautiful day, Beth!

Happy New Year, Janae! I just want to say I love when you link recipes and talk about what you cook at home. I am always looking for simple recipes for my family and end up making a lot of the recipes you post. My husband even asks, “Is this from Janae?” haha

Happy New Year! Well, this made me smile! You’ll have to let me know what you think of the winter salad… I’m going to have some for breakfast too hahah. Have a beautiful day, Betsy!

Janae’s dry January but make it soda. hehe
Tangent. I think yesterday was my favorite day of the work year. I have started a tradition with some coworkers after the crazy year of 2020. Like who could have predicted what would happen that year?? SO! I had my coworkers fill out a form that I created. Topics included: celebrity breakups/pregnancies/passing away/engagements; name the next covid variant; changes in our office/hospital; major national and international new, who does Pete Davidsone date next, etc and then a misc section including some outlandish predictions. We seal our predictions in an envelope and then open them the first day of the office new year.
Then all year when something absurd happens we ask each other: “Did anyone have…Chris Rock getting slapped at the Oscars on their list?” So yesterday we ripped open our envelopes to see how well we predicted 2022.
I have Boys II Men on a reunion tour this year!

I’m dying. MY DRY JANUARY hahah… yep. It is so hard already. Your questionnaire hahaha… brilliant. I might need to fill it out too. I cannot wait to see how many you were correct with! Crossing my fingers for that reunion tour and I would be pretty shocked if anyone guessed that Oscars event last New Years. Copying you with this idea. Have a beautiful day, Molly!

That distance/pace/elevation in the snow is impossible for 99.9% of the population. You and your friends really are elite.

I think living here our whole lives has helped us with running in the snow too ha! Hope your day is a beautiful one:)

Hi Janae! Too much snow for the ski resorts, that’s crazy! Did you know that the gluten free Oreos taste pretty much the same as the regular ones? That’s crazy to me!
My skin is so much better here in California and I’m trying to figure out why. I don’t even moisturize right now. What if my fancy moisturizer is the problem -__-
Have an awesome day!

Isn’t that crazy? Sundance is open today just to season pass holders but I don’t remember it ever being closed like it did the previous two days. I need to compare the gluten free Oreos, I am happy they are basically the same. Oh no… I have had a similar problem before and spent so much money on something that was making my skin worse. Thanks friend, you too!

I got my first pair of Saucany Endorphin Pro’s from your link (50% off? HELLO!) and have been running in them ever since. I know they’re not intended to be everyday running shoes but I have managed to get them at 50% off every time and am now on pair 3! LOVE them and run most of my miles in them! THANK YOU :)

Happy running friend <3

ASHLEY! This makes me so happy. They are amazing shoes and for that price… unreal. I hope you have a beautiful day!

I think I need to quit soda. Over the Christmas break we travelled to Chris’s family stuff and I cracked one at like 9am and was like maybe we have a problem here.
PS. I wish were were running into each other on the streets of Chicago. I feel like you will do that marathon one day. It WILL happen.

We are so alike it’s crazy. We can do it together;). YES YES YES. That marathon just has to happen. Happy Tuesday, Erica!

The 5 Love Languages for runners is spot on! Love it.
Colorado is also getting a ton of snow right now too. We’re getting lots of rain out here which is fantastic!
I gave up sodas years ago and don’t miss it. If I want something fizzy, I like sparkling waters. I, along with my sister in law, are not drinking wine this month. She is wanting to loose some weight, and I want to clean up my diet. Oh, so that salad recipe is perfect for me today! Thank you 😊
Have a great day Janae!

Hahah isn’t that funny! I am SO glad you guys are getting the rain that you need. I’ll have to try some yummy sparkling waters for the fiz, thanks for that tip. Let me know if you try the salad, it’s so good. Thanks friend, you too!

Happy Tuesday & 2023! I have some random tangents –
*Our excitement/chaos this morning was kiddos going back to school after being off for about 2 weeks!
*I am looking forward to getting out to run a bit in our Minnesota snowstorm later (perhaps remnants of your storm?). Yours must have been rough if even the ski resorts are closed!! Impressive.
*I prefer my oreos in ice cream. :)
*I am working on the hardest Micky & Minnie puzzle ever. Who’d have thought a 750pc. Disney puzzle would be so hard?
Enjoy your snowy day!!

We went back to school today too! I hope your run in the snowstorm is so fun… it feels like an adventure! Ummm that is a huge puzzle, I’m impressed. Good luck! Thanks friend, you too!

I am sooo impressed that you are able to run in that snow! It’s so beautiful! We don’t have any ski resorts near us in KY but my kids absolutely loved the Christmas snow we got last week!

Have you still quit caffeine except for running? Did you go cold turkey? I am tempted to do the same but man, my boys wear me out so that afternoon pick me up feels needed sometimes. 😂

Reply

So happy that you guys got snow on Christmas! Yay! No, I’m still drinking caffeine but just not soda! I think I might die without caffeine, I relate to you hahah. Have a beautiful day!

I’m sure you already know this, but avalanches can happen anywhere there is avalanche terrain (including areas you may trail run). Sometimes people think they just occur at ski resorts, but it’s definitely not the case! Utah Avalanche Center is an awesome resource for checking current conditions in your area: https://utahavalanchecenter.org/

Question! I used Bloglovin forever to read/ follow my blogs but it seems like it doesn’t exist anymore! Do you know of another good app to use so that I don’t have to go to each individual blog and they’ll all be in the same place? Thank you!!

Janae- for the Athleta Henly top you linked to above- about what temperature would you think this is appropriate for training in? Thanks!

Hello!
I love this top but they are sold out in most sizes. What size is yours?
Also, what is your favorite easy running shoe right now? Hoka? I am with Ashley with the Endorphin Pros, I am loving them for all of my runs but I know I should mix it up some too!
Also, because I am a day late commenting – I am so glad everyone is safe at your house. Its so scary, I know each time something happens to my kids or comes close to happening I am reminded how lucky we are to be here.
Have a great day!

Look how happy they are! A lovely family.
