Well, I took a shower and went outside for 5 minutes yesterday so I’m calling that a win.  Not sure when I’ll run again (I would love to wake up today and feel normal again but who knows).  Good thing, not a lot happens when you have to take a few days off… running is always there for us when we are ready to go again.  (Source for quotes below)

We mostly played games like suspend.

Because I was in bed.

Knox and Andrew went skiing before Knox leaves for a while… He conquered a few black diamonds while they were out.

And they went out on their go-karts too.

Let’s chat about some favorites!

*These Brazilian Cheese Bread bites from Costco.  They come frozen and I cook them real fast on my waffle iron or in my air fryer and boom… SO good.  They taste great with tomato soup too.

*For a favorites thing party, I brought a color-coordinated gift…  Of course, you knew about Core Power (code: 20HRGIRL gets you 20% off here) and Maurten but also, this caffeine eye cream helps to wake me up a lot in the mornings.

*The Goodreads list of best fiction for 2022… I want to read them all.

*The best Christmas candle.  I got this at a Favorite Things party, and I can’t stop smelling it.

*At our favorite things party these were given away a few times… if you haven’t tried them, you truly need to.

*I’m very obsessed with this vest (if you haven’t noticed… haha I have worn it basically every day since I got it).  I saw a girl wearing the Amazon version of it and it was so similar to mine.  Amazon dupes are the best.

*It’s not too late to decorate your car:). My kids love this reindeer nose and antlers I put on my car each year.

Anything you are looking forward to this weekend?

If you had to karaoke a song right now, what would it be?

Who is your favorite author (I’m getting a lot of reading in these days)!

Tell me about your run today!

I love that vest!! It looks so cozy. The Sam Edelman boots you shared last week, what size did you get and what’s your usual size? There was mixed reviews on them about how they run too small and too big. Can you share which socks you’d wear with yours?
I’ve been really loving Colleen Hoover books lately and my coworker recommended Shari Lapeno so I’m going to try her books.
I hope you are on the mend soon. Influenza is going around bad here!

Hey Ashlea! I got them a half size bigger than my normal shoes! I love wearing Bombas with them and Madewell socks like these: https://www.madewell.com/lurex-trouser-socks-NJ583.html?color=GY6369#q=socks&lang=default&context=women&start=3

I hope you love them if you get them. Colleen Hoover is so so great. Thank you so much, I’m hoping I’ll be myself by tomorrow. Happy weekend!

Rest up, you’ll get fitness back asap. It’s nice to see a strong progression anyways after a run break!
I spy The Unhoneymooners in the background photo of Skye. Loved that book! And I put the Tomorrow book on my Want to Read list after seeing the Good Reads winners, too!! I have been loving Emily Henry’s books. She has one coming out next year and I can’t wait! Oh and Taylor Jenkins Reid! I loved Carrie Soto is Back.
Book club meeting adjourned!

Thank you so much, Molly! Can’t wait to see that strong progression soon. Yes, I am so excited to start it… making myself finish my others first. Tomorrow is on my list too. So many incredible authors. We should start our own book club, please. Have the best weekend (you have it off this weekend, right)!

I just checked out that Goodreads list last night and added a dangerous amount of books to my “To Read” list. I just started reading In Five Years based on your recommendation. I also LOVE Fredrick Bachman books, so he’s in my “up next” category of reading. I love the idea of a favorite things party, so fun! Happy Friday Janae!

Haha my “To Read” list is getting out of control. Let me know what you think about In Five Years! Off to check out Fredrick Bachman. Have a beautiful day, Emily!

Hi! I’m so sorry you have been feeling under the weather and I hope you are back on your feet soon :) I saw your post on Instagram about running in the winter time and thought that you might be interested in this book called “Wintering” by Katherine May. The chapters are organized by the winter months and feature winter practices celebrated/observed around the world… including the cold plunge and saunas! Anyways, I think you might really like it- I read it way too quickly and couldn’t put it down. Have a great day!

I read your comment and immediately bought the book on audible. I am so excited to listen to this today in bed. Just what I needed. Thanks Deborah, I hope you have a beautiful day!

That’s awesome, I really hope you enjoy it! It certainly made me consider the cold and short days of winter differently and to appreciate winter for all that it offers us :)

I’ve already teared up as I was listening. Sending this to a few people I know that need it too. It’s beautiful. Thank you!

I hope you are feeling better today, but if you aren’t I hope you are getting LOTS of rest!

I love the vest on you! Not sure I can pull it off…..but I LOVE it.

We are going hiking today in Rocky Mountain National Park since it’s our first day of winter break. Then we are going skiing tomorrow. Lot’s of fun mountain adventures =)

I am so so jealous of all your snow, we need more here!

Thank you, Beth! I am feeling a bit better but I’ll still pull off being in bed most of the day ha. Oh I am SO happy for you guys. I’ll live through your mountain adventures this weekend. ENJOY! I hope you get snow asap!

Ugh to the sickies! Hope you’re feeling better soon.
I’ve loved reading Julie Lawson Timmer: Mrs. Saint and the Defectives, Untethered, and Five Days Left. Although I like reading series or enjoy a specific genre by favorite authors, each one of these books has a totally different vibe to it, which is pretty cool.

That is amazing that she is able to write so many different types of books. I have to check her out, thank you! Yes, me too… hoping I am better by tomorrow. Have a beautiful day, Corey!

Boo to illness! I ran an easy 8 km. Last week we had a big snowshoe adventure aka we opted for spikes when we needed snowshoes and made life a lot harder haha!

Just working from home and finishing last couple days before Christmas break. We are supposed to get a dump of snow so might go enjoy that !

Happy Friday Janae!

I love that you love the Braza bites! My family is Brazilian, and they are typically called pão de queijo (cheese bread). They were so hard to find until a few years ago when Costco started stocking them, and now many grocery stores do too, and it makes me very happy. My mom would make them homemade and now my sister does – they are even more A-MAZING. She’s much more of a chef than I am!

Now I need to try your mom and sister’s pão de queijo… I’m drooling! Thank you so much for sharing and I hope you are having a beautiful morning. Thanks, Tess!

Hi Janae! I just read I’ll show myself out by jessi Klein and it was hilarious! I don’t even have kids and the book is about motherhood but I still really liked it.
All these end of year best of lists have me filling up my libby (library app for ebooks and audiobooks)!
I think what I’m looking forward to the most this weekend is sleeping until I naturally wake up. That’s the best feeling.
Happy Friday!

I must read that book, thank you so much for sharing. ENJOY the sleep in the mornings, that is the greatest feeling (you are so right). Thanks Amy, happy Friday to you too!

Libby is the best app!!! I share it with my students all of the time. I haven’t paid for a book in years!

I’m so sorry you’re sick, but I guess it’s lucky it came when it did and not right in the middle of training. Somehow I think our bodies know when they have “permission” to break down and they take full advantage!

I’m a huge fan of Amor Towles’ books. Des Linden has recommended his book Gentleman in Moscow before (which I loved) and I read the Lincoln Highway earlier this year, a fun lighthearted read. I also love Colson Whitehead and read his Harlem Shuffle which was also a fun twist for him. And my go to author for murder mysteries is Tana French. The books are mostly set in Dublin, so I feel like they are a great escape to another country.

We have a Christmas party tonight – I made my peppermint chocolate eclair dessert! (https://mcmomentsandmemories.blogspot.com/2022/12/friday-foodie.html) And I won’t be sad at all if I take leftovers home ;)

On Sunday we have our Christmas recital at church. I love watching all our little ones as they are progressing. I’ll be singing “Lamb of God” by Nicole C. Mullen, no karaoke needed, I’ve got a great pianist and drummer.

No run today. I did power yoga for upper body and core, followed by yoga for runners. Since I started following this channel (https://www.youtube.com/@alameluyoga875) I’ve really noticed a difference in my running.

Thanks for the Good Reads recommendations!

I have a holiday 5k tomorrow and a few Christmas parties so that will be fun!

If I had to karaoke a song right now, it would probably be a Christmas song because that’s all we’re listening to lately.

My English teacher friends and I just sent our top reading list to each other today:
I’m currently reading Mad Honey by Jodi Piccoult and it’s really good so far, I’m having a hard time putting it down.
Counterfeit by Kirstin Chen
The Diamond Eye by Kate Quinn
Wrong Place Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister
Verity by Colleen Hoover
True Biz by Sara Novic
The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak
We Were Never Here by Andrea Bartz
Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah
Reckless Girls by Rachel Hawkins

Today’s run was 10 miles in the dark before work. It was soo cold! Nothing compared to you but 33 felt super chilly to this California girl.

I seem to have walked away from fiction for some reason, everything seems run themed (to inspire?) loved the Hypnotist by Lars Kepler (yeah, I know Kepler are two people)..problem with fiction, I ended up having to read in one shot….
the running room where I began this stuff is closing, and were having a Run Club reunion..looking forward to that…
but kind of depressed, a bit, my runs have been haphazard and well, just walked away from one of my Run Clubs to let someone else take over….I think I just need a break away from being that leader for a bit….maybe it’s the season….I hope Christmas week turns me into a happy minion…
