Friday Favorites!

(bra, shorts)

Kendall kills me.  I did a 45-minute HIIT and hills class, and I was so proud of myself for finishing because it was hard.

I also did this strength workout, and it was one of the hardest I’ve done yet. If you want to try it… I’m going to be sore for a while.

This thing saves us all winter when the kids need to get some energy out.

Just so happy to be at Costco and trying every sample he can.

Brooke brought a recorder home from school and it took me back a few decades…

The girls in our neighborhood came over for a hot chocolate party.

And this potato corn chowder was the perfect dinner.

I have a few favorite things to share today:

*We have been road-tripping like crazy, and these bingo games (similar here) help to avoid screens for some time which was a major win!

*BROOKE AND I LOVED FALLING FOR CHRISTMAS ON NETFLIX.

*I bought this merino wool top and bottom (both 40% off!) for my skiing base layer but have quickly found that the top is my new favorite running top too.  So soft and so warm with long enough sleeves and thumb holes.

*Hand warmers are how I survive winter in Utah, especially skiing and running.  These hand warmers are the best I’ve ever found, and the reusable pouch makes it so I can use one hand warmer for three days of running in a row.  Huge fan.

*My friend Lindsey shared her favorite cooking app, and I checked it out immediately.  It is called Paprika and has officially become my favorite and is helping me to continue to cook meals at home.  The app was a few dollars, but it does so much.  First, it downloads your recipe and takes out any ads, so you don’t have to scroll through a post to find the ingredients.  It makes it easy to add ingredients to your grocery list, plan your meals on the calendar, organize your recipes, find new recipes and convert/scale your recipe.  If you try it, let me know, I can’t believe how much I love it.  Andrew even downloaded it for his phone because it is so great (I wish I could show you a better picture to show how cool it is).

*Another reminder of my gift guides HERE and HERE!

*And don’t forget you can get 20% off Core Power HERE with the code 20HRGIRL.

*My in-laws gave us a train they have had since before Andrew was born.  It makes us all so happy.

Have a favorite app that you use often?

I love the idea of less waste with the hand warmers, we will be needing them all winter!

When do your ski resorts open? We are headed up this weekend for the first time 😄

I really like classes from Robin but I haven’t tried Kendall. Maybe I’ll do that today.

Have a wonderful weekend celebrating Skye!!!

Enjoy the hand warmers! Ahhhh ours opens tomorrow and we are going too! ENJOY your ski day. Try Kendall, she is so crazy hard haha. Thank you, Beth. Let me know how skiing goes!

I love the merino wool shirt! I want to purchase the mittens you posted the other day. What size did you order?

Hey Amy! Oh I hope you love the mittens! I bought them in a medium and they fit awesome. Let me know what you think and I hope you have a beautiful day!

I’m looking forward to going to the zoo for their winter decorations. It’s just always so cold. I should get some hand warmers.
I watch While You Were Sleeping every year at Christmas. It’s not a ‘traditional’ Christmas movie, but I love it!
I think I’ve only taken, like, two classes with Kendall because she’s so hard. And they were fun themed classes, so I am majorly impressed that you did a 45 minute HIIT and hills. My favorite instructor is Bradley Rose, especially his pop punk classes. They’re fun and he’s always throwing in nuggets of wisdom. Runner-up is Sam Yo because he’s so chill you don’t realize how hard you’re actually working.

I need to take a class from Bradley, I love when they throw in mantras/mental tips/tricks. They help me so much and Sam Yo sounds awesome too. I feel like While You Were Sleeping is a Christmas movie. It’s so so good. Enjoy the zoo, I want to add that to our list too. Grab some hand warmers, they help so much. Have a beautiful day, Linda!

I was at Costco yesterday too. I timed it so perfectly… Samples for lunch not long check-out lines, perfect!
My favorite Christmas movies are Elf and Christmas with the Kranks. But I easily get sucked into movies on the Hallmark channel, ha ha.
My favorite app is definitely the Peloton app. I love doing the roll call core workouts with Callie, she is one of my favorite instructors. Robin is always good, love Becs (who’s currently on maternity leave), Olivia, Susie, Jossilyn… Oh, and Kristin MgGee and Ally Love for pilates and Barre. So good!
My husband and I are going up to Hollywood tonight for a stage show, then tomorrow is the neighborhood cookie exchange, and Sunday is a holiday home tour with the ladies in the family. So many fun things to get December and Christmas rolling 😊
Have a great Friday Janae!

You really did time it perfectly. I love their samples so so much. Hallmark sucks me i easily too. I LOVE Callie and everyone you listed. Ummm your weekend sounds perfect. I want to come! Thanks Wendy, you too!

I am loving your posts so much! I do have a question about skiing and running. I recently had a hard fall where I thought I broke my tailbone while skiing. Thankfully I didn’t, but I did need to take a week off of running. How do you balance running and skiing? Are you ever fearful you’ll get hurt which can set you back? I love skiing, but I definitely love running more, so I’m curious about your thoughts! Thanks for sharing your content!

I am SO sorry about your fall, that sounds so painful.
SUCH A GOOD Q and something I have been thinking about a lot. I was telling Andrew the other day I’m going to chill out… I’m too afraid to tear my ACL or something. I’ll stick to the blues and if they want to do a black, I’ll just go the other route and meet them at the bottom (which is the case on mostly everything at Sundance). I like running more too but I want to do both. I’m really not that hardcore in the first place so I’m not giving up much by taking out more of the risk. I was so reckless in high school and thankfully I am not that person anymore ha. What are your plans this winter?

Reply

I am with you – I told my husband after the fall I am going to be very chill this year. We just moved to CO so I am still just getting experience under my belt too! We got the Ikon Pass so we will be skiing mostly in CO but we do hope to get to Utah, New Mexico, and Montana… but we shall see. I signed up for my first marathon next June so I have that in the back of my head too!

Oh I am so jealous of your Ikon Pass! We sound like we would be the perfect ski buddies ha. I’m there for the experience:). SO excited about your first marathon. Keep me updated with all of your training.

I think we would be too! I will be sure to keep you posted! I visit your blog daily so I’m sure you will be hearing from me again haha. Have a wonderful weekend & happy Friday! xoxo

YUM, thank you for posting that corn chowder recipe, I’m totally going to make it this weekend! We watched Elf last night, per our tradition. Always hilarious. I have a one hour run tomorrow which is the longest I’ve done in years, so I’m very excited!!!

Let me know what you think of the chowder, I’m already looking forward to leftovers. I need to watch Elf tonight, it is truly the best. SO excited for your run tomorrow. Enjoy those 60 minutes and celebrate the accomplishment afterward. So excited for you, Tess!

Hi Janae! Falling for Christmas is on my list too! Glad to hear you liked it! I had no idea you could reuse hand warmers, I’ll have to check that out!
Happy Friday!

Let me know what you think of the movie, we loved it! Yeah, I didn’t either… so cool! Thanks friend, you too!

map my run..I hate running the same route over and over again, which drives those that train with me nuts….some want to same old same old all the time….and yes, sometimes when I say right I mean left, but the app helps me at least keep close to the planned distances…but sometimes 12 becomes 15?
Paprika, I’ll check it out, I made a dish last night that called for a quarter cup of paprika and I was terrified what that would do….it was amazing….
and yes, hand warmers……everything else warms up quickly, but may hands, actually my thumbs are the last

Reply

Hahah sometimes 12 becomes 15… I have done that to my sister a few times. Let me know if you like the app and the hand warmers. Have a beautiful day!

I really like “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year”. Henry Winkler is a retired cop who tries to play matchmaker for his niece. Let me know if you watch it!

Reply

I’ll have to watch it! Thank you, Cynthia and I hope you have a great day!

I second the Paprika app. It is amazing. Especially when you want to make “that good pecan pie that I made last year”, just look at the saved recipes in Paprika instead of scouring the internet for the recipe you think you used. Another cool feature is that you can easily double or even one and a half a recipe and it does the math for you! The only recipes you have to be careful with is when grams are involved. If it says, “1 cup or 200 g” in one line, when you double it the recipe will read,”2 cups 200 g”. It only doubles the first measurement.

Thanks for the baselayer tip – I was looking for another one. I run and cross-country ski in the winter, so skiing clothes always = running clothes! I also have a bad habit of wearing them as all-day clothes when they are still pretty new. I will be checking out your gift guides next (thank you!!)- I am hoping to get our gifts planned out this weekend so I can enjoy Christmas as it gets closer.
My favorite app is my GarminConnect app- it’s not a very unique one to mention, but I just love watching my sleep, my cycle, my heart rate, and of course my running too.
This weekend we are going to bake a few of our first Christmas cookies, and hopefully watch Elf!! I may need to add that corn chowder to our weekend menu too- it looks really good. We are mostly just happy to be illness-free at our house! Only took a couple WEEKS.

Hey! So I kind of have a totally random question for you but before I ask I wanna make sure you’ll see it so I didn’t know if I should ask here or on your blog so I’m going to do both and see which one you might get a chance to respond to and then ask it haha so you’re more likely to see it because I can only imagine how many people message you daily or hourly haha and wish for a reply 😊
