(shorts, socks, jacket, top, bra, shoes)

Every. Single. Year. This is how I feel.

I love this week of confusion, but starting marathon training this week has helped me to put my days together ha… Because of the workout, I knew yesterday was Wednesday. I’m aiming for 50 miles this week!

Things started out with rain, then light snow, and then a full-on blizzard. We had three intervals to do but by the third, it was too slick, and we didn’t want to risk falling.

1 downhill mile @ 5:34, 1.15 miles uphill (472 ft incline) @ 9:15 pace, and 10 miles total.

I wore the vaporfly because it was lightly raining when I left my house… but these are definitely not the shoes to wear in the snow.

My shorts were surprisingly a good choice. I feel like I can run faster when I wear shorts.
I’m sure the people driving by us thought we were nuts.
Those snowflakes were so large and beautiful at the end of the run.
And then I was frozen, and so I did lower body strength by the fire followed by stretching and Core Powering.
40-degree weather means we go on a walk…

We play pickleball.

And we play at the park.
And eat pizza because cooking during this week is extra hard.

PS this is just something I will never understand about Andrew.

Favorite type of cheese?

Does anyone else relate to feeling like they can run faster in shorts? 30 degrees short weather or no way?

Does anyone love a treat that most people do not like?

-My mom loves fruit cake, anyone else?

Any fun plans today?

What’s your favorite cheese is giving me She’s the Man vibes in the best way! And I may have to say brie!
Training for a spring marathon is such an adventure. Make sure to stock up on hot chocolate for these snowy runs. Have you tried Williams Sonoma hot chocolate? I think it’s the perfect marathon season treat for you! ;)

Ummm I haven’t tried theirs yet but I will now. Thanks for the recommendation. Also, thank you for making a reference to the best movie ever. I need some brie asap. SUCH an adventure and I better get used to switching things up ha. Have a beautiful day, Molly!

Wow, shorts in the snow! Brrr and I’m from Michigan, but no short for me in the snow, not below 50 deg. That pizza looks amazing. For NYE we plan to do all different kinds of cheeses for a stay at home night. Then healthy eating starts in the new year.

Can I come over for all of the cheeses?! I hope you don’t get too many cold days this winter. Hope your morning is off to a great start, Sara!

I feel totally seen and judged by the Christmas to NewYears memes. Hahaha
I keep checking my watch for the date. I have no idea how time exists and moves during this week. How was Christmas four days ago. I don’t know.
I’m a total potato right now.

You are seen haha. We are all in this together. Seriously, I’m not sure what the date is too. Enjoy that potato stage, you work SO hard all year long. Happy holidays, Nadya!

Shorts in snow… Crazy! Ha ha. 30° is definitely too cold for me to wear shorts. But I get what you mean, I always feel faster wearing shorts.
And holy snow storm! My family in Colorado got 10″ yesterday! To bad we’re not there to play in it.
Our oldest son was supposed to have flown out to Arizona yesterday, but with all the mess that is Southwest airlines, his flight was cancelled. But, that means we’ll all be together this weekend for New Years, and we’ll be up at the mountain house in Lake Arrowhead! Yay! We’re having lots of rain here, so hopefully that means snow for us this weekend.
Keep enjoying this fun, confusing week 😊

I really am so crazy with temperatures. HOLY COW! That is so much snow, I hope you get to see them soon. And bummer about the flight cancellations, but so great you get the time together. Ah I love Lake Arrowhead, enjoy every second. Thanks friend, you too!

Pickleball & a walk in December? FUN! It was pretty warm out here too – not 40, but like 35 I think. We went sledding again. I cannot say I have ever tried shorts in the cold. I’ve done skiing in a t-shirt in the mid-30’s, though, so I am very intrigued and tempted to try your shorts idea…
Cheese – we’re doing 2 kinds of fondue for NYE, so that’s on my mind! I like things that others do not, but they usually involve vegetables. I do sort of enjoy the pretzel-bottom strawberry dessert, and that one is pretty weird.
We’re doing pizza tonight too. Easy meal nights are my favorite! Have a beautiful day!

It really was so fun to be outside. Glad you got in some sledding and it wasn’t too cold. SKIING IN A T-SHIRT… the shorts would be nothing for you. Ummmmm I need to come over for your fondu night! Enjoy the pizza and I hope your day is off to a great start!

I understand Andrew! I love those odd candies. 🤪. Remind me of the center of a butterfinger. I also feel faster in shorts and wear them above 30 degrees no matter what!

I hope you get some too! Andrew loves butterfinger so that would make sense. Shorts are a NEEEEEEED! Hope your day is a beautiful one, Kari!

We too are losing track of days lol. I will do a walk or run and maybe meet up with a girl friend.

We took River for a couple hours hike in the north shore trails yesterday and traffic was so terrible it took us 2 hours to get home lol! It should have taken 45-1 hours haha. At least it was beautiful in the trails though!

I don’t have any races on the horizon next year so I am currently completely unmotivated. Lol.
Currently still in pjs and still need to make coffee!

Happy training and have a wonderful day Janae!

Who knows what day it is… I’m surprised I didn’t do a Friday Favorites post today haha. Two hours ahhhhh! I bet the hike was worth it though. Sign up for a race… we are so alike! Without one, I have zero motivation. Thanks Kristine, you too!

Choosing a favorite cheese is like choosing a favorite chocolate or child. Can’t we just love them all?

A sweet lady at church gave us a jar filled with mostly mixed nuts, but there was also a layer of Boston baked beans. They were one of my mom’s favorites, so when I bit into one I was transported back to my childhood!

Bahahah valid point… and some days I’m more in the mood for one over another. I love when foods take us back to sweet memories! Thanks for sharing and I hope you have the best day, Kathy!

Hi Janae! I’ve never had Boston baked beans before! Maybe I should try them because I love peanut m&Ms.
Enjoy the start of training!

I think you would love them… Andrew loves peanut M&Ms too! Thanks friend, I hope your morning is off to a great start and you’ll have to let me know how your husband’s ski trip went.

Happy Holidays and wishing you a great start to 2023! I don’t like any cheese – which is probably weird.
I love those Hallowe’en kisses (which most of my friends despise) and I love dipping pretzels in syrup :)

I only wear shorts in 30 celsius or higher. You are hard core!!!
I would rather wear loose pants or tights even in the 20’s (80-90 Farenheit)

All the best.

Thank you, Katie! I hope your 2023 is the best yet. I will take your cheese:). I have a lot of people in my life that don’t like cheese so you are not alone! I’m the crazy one with my shorts ha. It doesn’t make sense. Hope your day is off to a great start!

I do not run outside when it is 30 degrees (take it to the treadmill) therefore NO WAY I could do shorts. :)

Reply

The problem is me hahaha! I love a good treadmill run, I’m craving one actually. Have the best day, Jenny!

um, yeah, guilty….I actually ate most of our wedding cake…years later!
I will dig into short break cookies….after everything else is gone
those drivng by watching us running in snow is always fun….I like running on snow days from my running store, then returning and seeing the reactions of those shopping..I guess it’s a suprise that someone that sells shoes, runs in them?
