Something to remember and a great way to live life.

(tank, long-sleeve, shorts ((my lucky Boston Marathon shorts)), socks, shoes)

Having fruit in your car ready to eat when you finish a run is a great way to live life.

Next up on our list was taking some friends to the airport. Beck loved seeing all of the planes landing and taking off. Maybe he will be a pilot (FREE FLIGHTS for us… can you imagine… I will do my best not to push him into a career, haha;).

These chips with this dip were by far the best thing eaten yesterday.

And this is just the first layer of leaves… as soon as they were done with this, our tree dropped another layer.
We got out to vote too!
I will never understand how he does this so late in the day.

Here are a few internet things to talk about:

*Orlando, wahoo! I secretly hoped it would be in Utah, but then I remembered we would have three feet of snow here in February.

*Something to remember when racing and doing long runs… Fuel more often!

*I’m already excited about 2023 racing plans. Is anyone else going to be at Las Vegas Rock ‘n’ Roll?

I last did this race in 2011 and can’t wait to go back. I really remember two things from this race in 2011–> I was so sick during the race (pregnant but didn’t know!), and I listened to the same song on repeat for 13.1 miles.

I probably won’t go dancing the night before the race like I did last time.

Any races that you are signed up for in 2023 already?

-RnR Las Vegas and Boston.

Do you notice you need to fuel more often in colder temps?

What is the best thing you ate today or yesterday?  Have a favorite dip?

Do you ever do night workouts?

I’ve heard great things about the Rock n Roll Vegas race, can’t wait to hear about your experience this time around. So excited for June 2023- my husband and I are both running our first half marathon and it will be at the Vacation Races Grand Tetons half! Have you ever done a Vacation Races race before? We can’t wait! Happy Wednesday, Janae!

STOP IT! I have heard the absolute best things about that half and it is so stunning out there… you and your husband are going to have the best time ever. You better keep me updated on all of your training and I need pictures from the race next summer. Have a beautiful day, Emily!

Wow I bet a Vegas marathon would be so much fun! Hopefully the temperature cooperates for you though; but maybe you’ll be a total pro at running in the heat by then!
I’m a textbook morning person and I SO prefer to do my workouts first thing in the morning, however between work and my one year old, I usually have to wait until 6 or 7pm to workout in, which is pretty late for me, and I hate it! Thankfully I know it’s just a phase of life, but it makes any workout feel so. much. harder. My body already feels so done by the end of the day! Good for Andrew, he must be tougher than me. ;) Have a great day Janae!
(PS I’m the one that had the ultrasound after work yesterday, and IT’S A GIRL! We already have a little boy, so this is very exciting! Fingers crossed these two get along!)

AHHHHH IT’S A GIRL! I am just so so happy for you. Seeing how Brooke and Knox are best friends and now Skye and Beck play so well together, it is the best. I am so happy for you guys. Yes, luckily the race is in February so hopefully it will be great. I don’t know how you are doing it all right now. You are amazing! Have the best day, Courtney! GIRL!!!

Free flights would be amazing!

I hadn’t thought about it in terms of running but I have read that you’re always really hungry after swimming in cold water because of the same reasons. I remember when I was training for Ironman and doing 5 am masters swim in the winter. I was starving the rest of the day LOL.

I have never done the Las Vegas marathon but that seems fun, I have raced out at Lake Mead and it was beautiful but that’s different than running on the strip!

I am thinking the Colorado Marathon and Leadville Silver Rush for the first half of 2023. But a destination race sounds good too.

Have a wonderful day!!!

Oh that is really interesting about swimming in cold water. I bet you were starving… you are so hardcore, Beth! 5 am swimming during the winter in Ironman training… wow. Lake Mead would be gorgeous to race next to… I’ll have to try that. I feel great about both of those races for you and maybe I’ll come join you:). Keep me updated with anything else you sign up for. Have the best day!

You guys always have a place to stay if you want to come race in Colorado ;)

Now that I have kids there are no more masters swims or Ironmen races LOL, I have a lot less free time now.

I remember that race! I have been reading for a long time! You thought it was all the treats/fried chicken or something you ate while in Vegas but it was pregnancy ha

I have not offiically signed up but would love to do clearwater marathon at end of jan!!!!!

BEST MEMORY EVER!! Haha yes, I thought it was from the chocolate pancakes I ate right before (which honestly could have also been part of the problem). We have been friends for SO long. Oh my goodness, I am so excited for you to do clearwater. You let me know the day you sign up. Have the best day, Mallory!

Beck as a pilot would be awesome! Every time I get on a Southwest flight, I peak into the cockpit to see if your brother is flying. Ha ha
My sis-in-law did the Las Vegas R&R half as her first half years ago. She said it was cool, but super crowded. But I am excited for you! Is it December?
I made cilantro lime chicken in the crockpot for dinner last night, and it was amazing for tacos! I’m already thinking about leftovers for lunch.
Off to do some hills today, and hopefully see snow on the mountains after the storm we had yesterday. We got a ton of rain, which usually means snow up in the mountains.
Have a great day Janae 😊

I love that it was your sis-in-law’s first half! It is in February this time around:). Oh my goodness, it would make my year if my brother was your pilot for one of your flights. The picture would make me so happy. Ummmm that chicken sounds amazing. Go rock those hills and YAY for snow ahhhhhhh. Thanks, Wendy!

Random question I’ve been meaning to ask- how/where did you find your coach for your marathon training? Apologies if you’ve already posted about this!

Reply

I love questions! I actually met him through the running group that I am in! It worked out really well because he is at our workouts doing them too! If you are looking for an online coach, I HIGHLY recommend @itsamarython on Instagram. She got me to my first sub 3 and is absolutely amazing. Let me know if you have any questions!

Thank you so much!

I had NO idea about fueling more in cooler temps! That is very good to know! I’ve never done Vegas, but I have my eyes on Grandma’s Marathon for next year… I’m making myself wait TWO WEEKS post-CIM before I sign up for another marathon though to help encourage a (more) rational decision ;)

And I can’t believe Im saying this, but I’m becoming an evening runner??? Just in time for it to be dark at 4pm. I’ve just found that it’s easier for me to get in a happier/healthier mental space in the evening for hard workouts vs first thing in the morning.

Have a good day!

Isn’t that interesting? It was my first time learning that too. I am SO excited for you to run CIM and then run Grandma’s next year. BIG THINGS for you. I love that you are loving running later on and I just want you to teach me how. Thanks Annie and you are almost to the taper ahhhh!

Every now then them I am a sucker for a night workout to sweat out the day.
Going to look up Rock and Roll Las Vegas right now.

UMMMMMMM I WOULD DIE OF HAPPINESS IF YOU CAME!!!

Hi Janae! That’s so interesting about the cold workouts! I get much hungrier after a cold workout so that makes sense! Night workouts just aren’t for me, I get too excited and then I can’t sleep.
Excited for your next race that looks fun!!
Happy Wednesday!

Right? So so interesting! Thanks Amy, you too!

Happy Wednesday! My aunt and uncle ran that Vegas race a few years ago, and loved it. It sounded like a fun, energizing race – that reminds me that I want to do an R&R event someday!
The Minneapolis airport near me has a viewing station that I have never taken my kiddos too – we may have to do that for a bit this weekend if it’s still cold outside with no snow to play in. Airplanes are fun to watch.
We had some olive tapenade from Aldi yesterday with cracked pepper crackers, and that was pretty tasty!
My favorite time to workout is 4-5pm. Right after work, but before evening plans. That’s what I did pre-kids, but I do kiddo pickup now, so try to workout at other points of my day. Lunchtime is a good time now, when I can get away from the office.

Come do this one with us:). I love that your airport has a viewing station, what a brilliant idea. Way to get in those lunchtime workouts with everything you have on your plate!

Oh my word – I’m doing to the Las Vegas RNR half as well!!! So excited for another night race!

SEEEEEEEE YOUUUUUUUU SOOOOOOOON!

my husband did the race maybe 10 years ago. he did not have a great experience. the course was horrible and when the marathoners joined up with the half marathoners it was weaving the rest of the way into the finish. hopefully things have changed since then.
