(shorts, long sleeve, shoes, mittens, headband)

Seven miles @ 8:28 average pace with Lauren and Jo! Time for some speed today. I swear I did not feel this good after St. George Marathon 2019… I remember I would tear up just thinking about some of the workouts ahead of time (I just forced it because I wanted to try for an OTQ so bad because I thought I would regret not trying that year because the standard would drop afterward).  This time around, I am so eager to do workouts and can’t wait to get out and do them. I like it this way better.

I was so overcooked that day.

Now for the main topic of today–> I. Am. So. Done. with all things Halloween, hahaha. Does anyone else’s house look like this? (PS the person that handed out Honeycrisp apples won Halloween)

Even Andrew agreed that we started Halloweening a little early this year. We decided we will wait to decorate until 9/15 next year, ha.

Goodbye, Skeleton.  See you again in 10.5 months.

The entire day was spent reorganizing and putting everything away. It was quite a task, but luckily, we have a shed in our backyard to put in all of our decorations.

Thanksgiving is out now.

And I switched up the Halloween nails too.

The cooler temps make them all a bit more cuddly. He hasn’t sat on my lap for longer than 30 seconds in a very long time.

Yesterday called for homemade chicken noodle soup.  This recipe includes how to make easy homemade noodles, which takes it to the next level.  We put it on top of mashed potatoes, and it hit the spot.

So so good.

I loved listening to this episode yesterday.  She talks about taking in a gel every 30 minutes and I could not agree more with her!  Doing this (I take a gel every 4 miles) changed my marathoning!

Have a favorite soup?  Send me the recipe so I can try it!

On a scale of 1-10, how fresh are you feeling with your running currently (1= as fresh as it gets, 10= beyond burned out)?

If you decorate for Christmas, when do you do it?

Eating Halloween candy still or are you sick of it?

Therese, I am sorry! Keep listening to your body and remember that running will always be there for you when YOU are ready again!

Your nails look soooo good! I’m off the scale with running, ha. I have gotten out of workouts and I really need to get back in for my mental (and obv physical health). This pregnancy has left me so exhausted but I want to start moving my body more, even for more walks. I walked to work this morning, so I’ll take the little wins :)
I start decorating for Christmas after Thanksgiving and it is my favorite holiday to decorate for– so cozy. And you better believe I’m still eating Halloween candy– perfectly portioned servings of sour patch kids? YES PLEASE! Have a great day!

Ummm I can see why you are off the scale with running! Your body is working so hard right now and a walk is perfect! Still so happy for you guys. Enjoy those sour patch kids, I am grabbing those out too. Thanks Courtney, you too!

When I take down Chritmas decorations I always add a note to my future self to slip in one of the boxes. “Molly. Take your decorations down before January 27. Don’t procrastinate on buying gifts this year. Only make 3 types of Christmas cookies.”
Your note “Andrew, we swore on November 1st to not decorate until 9/15!!!” heheh
I’m tapering so my burnout is high some minutes of the day but then I also feel more refreshed than I have felt in months.
This morning I started the 3 day carb load per Meghann’s instructions! Girl is good!

I will be following your lead with the reminders on our Halloween shed hahaha… we have to stick to 9/15 this year. Thank you for saving us this next September. SO excited for your marathon and that carb loading will help everything come together perfectly. Thanks Molly!

I am on a soup kick and that chicken noodle looks SO good. Need to try it with the mashed potatoes! Tim made this the other night and I loved it! -https://sallysbakingaddiction.com/slow-cooker-taco-spice-chili/ … We subbed out the quinoa and instead made grilled cheeses on the side for our carb source :)

On a scale of 1-10, I’m probably at a 7. Back to slow/easy runs 2-3 times a week but I am nowhere near the headspace to return to training. Gonna enjoy my off season a little longer and cheer you on from afar as you CRUSH your next race!!

Let me know what you think of the potatoes + chicken noodle soup. SO good. I am absolutely trying out your soup recipe that you linked. You were so smart with your recovery after Chicago! Thanks Arthi! Have a beautiful day:)

I love this soup!!

I took down Halloween decorations and switched to thanksgiving decorations yesterday! I’ll decorate for Christmas the day after thanksgiving! I need to be done with the Halloween candy but I’ll probably still eat some a few more days 😉

I’m at a 3-4 for how I feel running which is really good since I ran a half this past Saturday!!

That looks amazing… and her homemade tortilla chips. I am drooling. Yay for Thanksgiving decorations! Enjoy the last of the Halloween candy, it’s just so good. Congrats on your half a few days ago, Erin!

Ha ha… I feel the same way on November 1st. And we don’t have nearly as many Halloween decorations as you do. But I always spend the morning of November 1st putting everything Halloween away and getting out Thanksgiving.
As for Christmas, we start getting decorated the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Our neighborhood hangs these big sparkle balls in all the trees, and that’s completely finished by the Sunday after Thanksgiving.
I love homemade soups! And it’s finally feeling like soup season again. I have to try the chicken noodle soup over mashed potatoes thing!!
Oh my goodness, with all of the traveling I’ve been doing this fall, my running is less than consistent. But that is ok for where I am right now. I am feeling motivated to get back to being consistent for sure!
Have a wonderful day Janae 😊

It just feels so good to switch things over and get some fresh decorations out. Oh I bet those sparkle balls look gorgeous. I LOVE that idea. I might have to try that on my street. You guys have had such a fun fall. Keep enjoying! Thanks Wendy!

That podcast with Meghann! So so good. I’m 100% changing my fueling game for Boston training!

Reply

Let me know how it goes for you! We really need so much more than we think. Can’t wait to train for Boston together:)

5: Super happy to be doing it. Not motivated to pick or go after a goal.

Christmas decorating can not happen for me until Thanksgiving is over.

Reply

I’m with you on that… I need to have a little break in between the two big holidays ha. I think a 5 is perfect for this time of year and whenever you are ready for those goals, they will be there for you:). Happy Wednesday, Erica!

I will always comment with a food related question haha! I love soup and will definitely try this recipe, especially on top of mashed potatoes. That sounds amazing!

Okay, so I know not everyone loves cabbage but I’m my opinion it is an underrated vegetable and people maybe just haven’t had it prepared properly. I also am Irish/Croatian so I grew up with it so that could help! I also will completely understand if you opt out of trying this because of the cabbage haha but I love this recipe from smitten kitchen and want to share. So tasty and cozy for this time of year!!!

I love hearing what you love to eat! I actually LOVE cabbage too so I have to try this! These pictures look amazing and I am going to start incorporating more cabbage in my life thanks to you. Have a beautiful day, thanks Tara!

I will be making this soup. I am DROOLING. Thanks Grace, have a beautiful day!

Hi Janae! Is it just me or does the cooler temps make us more sleepy too? Or maybe it’s just harder to wake up when it’s dark out and the bed is so cozy.
Great job getting Halloween packed up and thanksgiving out so fast!!
Have an awesome day!

SO much more sleepy and the dark is just so hard to get out into. Thank you Amy, you too!!!!

I love the picture of the kids under the blanket on the swing! Classic fall!!

Feeling pretty fresh these days! Probably a 2 or 3 and I’m only 2.5 weeks out from my marathon. I already want to do another one :-)

We go big for Halloween so Christmas decorating must wait until Thanksgiving because I need that break in between…

Ugh, I’ve consumed so much candy the last few days!! I need to stop but I probably will eat a little more before I throw it all away!

Reply

Things felt so cozy yesterday! Way to recover well after your marathon. Let me know what you choose next, that is so exciting. I need that break too! Keep enjoying that candy, it is just too good. Have a great day, Torrie!

My running isn’t on a measurable scale I think yet, as I’ve been sick a lot the last 3 months. But the desire to be doing it is huge. I have to restrain myself from writing a specific plan, because really I’m just at the, get out there and do what you can today, phase. But I know it’ll improve.

We tend to put up Christmas Thanksgiving weekend. We have a fake tree so we can. Though I love the smell of fresh trees. This time of year is my favorite. I can’t believe it’s November! Better start buying more presents and get on those Christmas cards. 😬🙈

Homemade chicken noodle soup over mashed potatoes is one of my family’s favorite winter meals. We love it!

My running depends on the day…last night’s tempo felt great, this morning, a knee is yelling at me, and I’m starting to feel a lttle stressed..the 3 run club runs and the 2 virtual clinics and life is starting to add up?…..do you do anything to get rid of thinking about running and training all the time…..for some reason, that’s my life.
so running, I feel stronger than I have for a long time, life is kind of good, but yeah, I need to find some way to take away some things, and add something else to distract myself…

I love soup season, too! This Chicken Enchilada Soup from SkinnyTaste is my go-to meal for Fall! I use enchilada sauce from Trader Joe’s instead of making my own. https://www.skinnytaste.com/crock-pot-chicken-enchilada-soup/

Normally I am a chunky soup person but pumpkin soup is sooooo good this time of year! plus it’s super easy. If you have already cut up pumpkin from Trader Joes (or even butternut squash) the prep time is extremely fast. https://cookieandkate.com/creamy-vegan-pumpkin-soup/ Halloween candy is still delicious although I am tired of what we have leftover. Sadly my youngest is 17 and doesn’t trick or treat so there’s less variety. I was smart this year and bought one of those mixed bags that had my favorite mini candy bars in them! I toss the rest in the freezer because a frozen mini snickers or milky way is fantastic!!

Why don’t you use the skeleton in Christmas decorations?

Reply

My running is probably at a 4… haven’t been running nearly as much as I want, but I’m content with it now. No races on the horizon, so just listening to my body, but I’d love to build back my endurance!
I’ve been on a soup kick too! Funny, as a kid, I never really ate much soup. I’ve made a zuppa toscana soup with gnocchi, a Thai butternut squash soup, and Thai chicken ramen this past month!

We have a neighbor a few streets down that goes ALL OUT on Halloween. He had 3 gigantic skeletons, an even larger ghost, a huge witch on a broom, a huge werewolf that howled, 3 witches that talked and stirred in a cauldron and so much more! Andrew would go nuts! He usually leaves one of the large skeletons and skeleton dogs and has them wear a Santa outfit haha maybe you can repurpose yours and get more use out of it! Lol
We are moving this week, so we took down all the Halloween decorations yesterday and will put up Thanksgiving decorations when we move to the new house. My husband is strict on no Christmas until after Thanksgiving!
