If you are looking…

(shirt, shorts, shoes)

Seven miles @ 8:36 pace while listening to ‘It Girl,’ which is my book club book for the month and perfect for October.

The girls I run with most often have been out of town but get home soon, and I can’t wait to catch up with them!

Skye loves going out to the fridge to pick out my Core Power flavor for the day, ha. She also loves getting it open for me. I do not know how I used to go for hours after a run without eating. I want something the second I walk in the door.

And then this, of course. I want fall break to last forever.

We took Beretta on a very long walk and stopped for every tractor along the way. He was especially excited about this one.
We were able to pick up our ski rentals for the year. We learned the hard way that kids grow out of their skis way too fast, so we will rent each season until they are fully grown.
Reima hooked the kids up with the cutest ski suits, so we are officially ready for all of the snow.
We eat this pasta with tomatoes and TJ’s marinated mozzarella (dump all of the oil and seasonings in too) every week.

Next up was a lantern festival that we found out about!

My highlight from the evening was this apple cider donut. I want another for breakfast today.

Our future veterinarian was in heaven.

The rescue there released two owls back into the wild, which was a cool experience.

Finished things off by celebrating Megan’s bday!

Random fact of the day… Andrew said this is the hardest Peloton class he has ever taken, in case anyone is looking for a challenging class!

——————————————————————————–
Peloton users—> who do you think the most challenging instructor is?

Tell me about your run today!

-I’m off for a speed workout.

Dog owners… how many walks a day would your dog prefer?

-50

Have any random running habits?

-I always avoid stepping on cracks when on the sidewalk, and if I’m alone, I’ll turn right if I can if I come up to a red stoplight.

A speed workout two weeks after a marathon? Guess that hamstring is healed and now it’s time to run CIM.

Hey Annie! Hamstring is 100% after taking time off! Your guess is as good as mine for what is next. I hope you have a beautiful day!

Hi Janae,
Your family-life makes me smile so much! And I need to give you a book recommendation for the kids… The book is called “the Penderwicks” by Jeane Birdsall. By now there are five books in total and I still read them each year because I love the characters and the story so much. I am sure you and your kids will too :)
Have a fun day :)

Plus one for The Penderwicks!

I am going to order that book now, thank you so much! Have the best day, Moni and Elizabeth!

Kendall is pretty hard core but I love her personality so I like her rides. I did a tabata ride with Olivia last night and I thought I might die, for someone who seems so calm and relaxed she really knows how to sneakily kill you on the bike. And my dogs would go for a walk every hour if I asked them. My pug only wants to walk though to find other dogs to hang out with.

Reply

I love Kendall’s personality too and her music. Ummmm how does Olivia make it look so calm and in control. I love her so much! Way to go on the tabata ride, you are amazing! Hahaha I love that your pug is so social. Happy Wednesday, Corrinne!

The lantern festival looked so fun! I’m sure you are all enjoying fall break so much. We don’t have those out here, but we do get a full week for Thanksgiving.
Oh my goodness, so many great Peloton instructors. I think Matt Wilpers, or as I have heard several of the other instructors call him Matt HILLpers, is the toughest for me. He always does so much hill running, ha! But I really think it depends on what the workout is.
Today’s run will be an easy run. I did speed yesterday, then the Barre class, so my legs are tired!
Have a good day Janae 😊

I hope that full week off for Thanksgiving comes fast for you guys. Are your boys coming home? Going to Colorado? Matt is amazing and hahaha about Hillpers. Andrew does his classes a ton. Way to go on your speed and Barre, you are on fire. Thanks friend, you too!

YES! The boys will be home for Thanksgiving, and our oldest son’s girlfriend will be here too. That makes my mama heart so happy! :)

This makes me so so happy!!!!

I stayed up late last night to finish The It Girl!
When I skied as a kid in the 80s, my parents rented our equipment. Such a good way to go. And I loved getting “new gear” every year – I had no idea it wasn’t brand new!

Reply

It is SO good. I hope you liked the ending, I’m getting excited. I love that your parents did that and hopefully my kids feel cool getting new gear each year too haha. Have a beautiful day, Samanth!

I think Olivia’s intervals and her climb rides are insane! Robin is really tough, too! Olivia is like, all smiles and giggling, “resistance: 55-75. Sprint!” Goodness!!!

I always jump over or around grates. My husband stepped on one while walking with a friend that hadn’t been replaced properly and his leg fell right in as the grate flipped up and he had a super deep cut and needed stitches. It’s a funny story in our family now but we all avoid them :)

I just read yesterday’s post, too and wanted to share this Oreo dessert – it uses Oreos for the crust. https://www.iheartnaptime.net/chocolate-lasagna/
It’s called chocolate lasagna from “I Heart Naptime.” It’s so yummy.

I just looked up “The It Girl” and added it to my list! Have you read “We Were Never Here”? I’m reading that now then I have “Wrong Place Wrong Time” waiting for me at the library. I’m slowly working through Reese Witherspoon’s book club.

I am so with you on Olivia’s intervals and she somehow makes it look so easy while I’m DYING. She is amazing. Okay, now I am terrified of grates, thanks for the warning. Haha I’m glad you all avoid them now too! Okay, that recipe made me drool. I need that in my life and so does brooke. You’ll have to let me know what you think of The It Girl and I’m adding your two to my list. I didn’t think about looking at her book club… brilliant. Have a happy day, Jenny!

I have 4X10 minutes today during my run. Running after work so I can have daylight. I find it so hard to do workouts in the dark.
Glad you got an apple cider donut! I have stock up on donuts and cider for the weeks leading up to my marathon. Low fiber, high carb win and a little variety with the bagel frequency!

Reply

MOLLY. We were saying the same thing. We cannot wait until Daylight Savings. The dark is so hard to get moving in. I’m glad you are going after work today. You are going to rock it and wish I could join you for it. CHEERING FOR YOU!!

So cool you got to see the owl release! I don’t have a dog but petsit for about 6 different families. I love taking dogs on long walks!
When running I avoid the cracks, too…..not sure why?!

Reply

Why do we do it? Avoiding breaking our mother’s backs haha?! Glad I’m not alone. Have a beautiful day, Loribeth!

Fun fall activities!! Where is this lantern festival?! I’m local to Utah and would like to go!

It was just yesterday but next year I will post about it in advance and/or email you!!! I am so sorry I didn’t post about it sooner. Have a beautiful day, Sam!

My running hack is that I pretend I’m in a video game. If I step on a leaf, I gain more power to feed my run, so I speed up for a few seconds. I keep looking for leaves and find it’s not only fun but it dies give me a better pace.

Reply

I will officially start playing your video game. I love this.
Have a beautiful day, Brigley!

Hi Janae! I woke up this morning with my ankle being really sore, not sure what’s going on! I agree my parents dog would enjoy being outdoors all day if she could. We take our cat outside now on a leash and she also never wants to go back inside.
Enjoy your workout!!

Reply

NOOOO Amy, I am SO sorry about your ankle. What a bummer. Keep me updated and I hope it is 100% soon! Thanks friend!

No run today but yesterday I had a run date- I felt like you and Andrew lol! Never done that before. Today will be a rest day and then hoping to do 6 easy miles tomorrow, keeping it light this week after my half marathon.

Reply

RUN DATE!! OH MY GOODNESS I LOVE THIS. Aren’t they fun?! Way to go getting in the recovery this week too! So so important. Happy Wednesday, Mariah!

Reply

You are making my job easy! These links are so cute and is it weird that I want the shorts for normal running too? THANK YOU THANK YOU! Happy Wednesday, Mel!

There is truly nothing better than a warm, fresh-out-the-oven cider donut on a crisp fall day. Looks like you guys had so much fun at the festival!

Today is 10 days post marathon and I still haven’t run!! I usually take at least 1 full week off after a marathon but I think I might go closer to 2 weeks this year and give my body a chance to get some extra recovery in!! Though … There is a half marathon taking place nearby me over Halloween weekend and I’m REALLY tempted to run it as a fun run! What’s your typical post marathon recovery/return to running plan?! I feel like everyone is so different with this and it’s fun to hear about!

Have the best day, Janae!!

I hope you get some cider donuts asap! They were so good. You are being so so smart taking this time off. It will all pay off. I feel like with each training cycle it is so different. I tend to always take at least a week off and have taken off two weeks in the past too. I listen so close to my body (boston I felt like I needed like a month off from speed and this time I feel ready to go again). It also helps having a coach to hold us to doing things haha. I hope you do too, Arthi! Still just so happy about how your chicago went!

I have been know to stop at a green light and then run when it turned red, which suprised a few drivers…yikes
listened to one of the best nutrition talks ever yesterday, made it all sound so easy, and she did say Snickers bars were okay…
went out with a fun run group yesterday, and challenged myself to keep with our quicker folks/girls…..I should know better…but it was fun…..

Reply

Yay for Snickers… they are so so good. So happy you had a great group run yesterday, they are truly the best. Happy Wednesday, Warren!

What size snow suit did you get for Beck?

Reply

HEY Caroline! I got him 18-24 months. They. Are. Too. Cute.

Have a beautiful day!

Reply

Thanks so much. I read a “teach kids skiing” blog that recommended this company for warm kids gear. My kiddo is a few months younger than Beck, but eager to ski! I got him wool long underwear from Iksplor. It is hard to find warm stuff for kids!

Reply

That is so cool! Please keep me updated with your skiing adventures this year and what works/doesn’t work. I’ll copy you on that brand of wool long underwear. THANK YOU!

Reply

We always bought skis for our oldest because she got 2 years out of them and the could pass them down. When we were done, we could usually sell. It did save some money from renting
