Sentence– we are more fortunate than we recognize and have so much to offer those in need.
Love candy corn and have been a fan of candy corn + peanuts ever since you introduced me to it years ago on your blog :) sweet and savory yummmmm!
Make today an awesome one, Janae!

I love your sentence and it inspired me to do more for others. I keep forgetting to grab the peanuts but I will now, it is the best combo. Thanks Courtney, have a great day!

I haven’t run all week (I know, just 2 days), because family was in town briefly, and it was just a bit chaotic. So, I am excited to get outside for a run in these cooler temps!
Love candy corn! And my step-niece who was just here, was so happy I had a jar full of candy corn too. I’m happy you “convinced” Andrew that it really is a delicious candy 😊
Oh my goodness, one of my neighbors just got a huge skeleton like what Andrew just got. They’re house is at the other end of the street, and I can see it from my house, even with all the trees. Ha ha
Have a great workout this morning! I’m always impressed with what you all do on Wednesdays.

I am so glad you got some time with family and that now your runs are going to be a bit cooler! More people in this world need to love candy corn ha:). Can you see the glowing eyeballs too?! It is terrifying ha! Thank you Wendy, I hope your run was a wonderful one!

Salt, salt, salt—start salting your food now haha. My last marathon was hot and I was about 3 min off my goal time after ZERO acclimation. Salt helps! You’ve been running all summer, you’re going to do so well!!!

Mollie. I cannot thank you enough for this. I seriously will start salting now. Thanks for the encouragement, it means a lot to me. Have a wonderful day!

That picture of Skye and Beck is so cute!!! I agree with keeping him in his “baby cage” for as long as possible, though. I recently attempted to share a hotel room with my 2 and 4 year old boys — the 2 year old was up until 1am because he kept rolling around and getting out of the bed to bother his brother. Yikes!
My biggest tip for a hot marathon is to adjust your time goal without too much disappointment thrown in. It gets hotter as the race goes on, so you might feel fine at mile 10 and then hot garbage at mile 20. Even starting a few seconds slower can make a difference. Also, we can’t control the weather! You put the work in and Mother Nature has other plans. It’s ok, that fitness doesn’t disappear after one race. There will be other 50 degree marathons in your future.
I’m so excited for you!

BABY CAGE HAHAH! Your night at the hotel… that sounds absolutely terrible. I am so sorry and I’m having flashbacks to some of our hotel days with kids ha. ABSOLUTELY. Best tips, thank you. Just gonna focus on what I can control and let go of the rest. Thanks Stacey, I can’t wait. Have a beautiful day!

So excited for your marathon! I will hope for the arrival of a cool front.

Are you wearing the men’s version in the vapor fly? The link you included yesterday took me to the men’s. I’m wondering if you find the fit better?

Reply

Hey Amanda! They are unisex so I’ve been buying both:). I’m 10.5 for the women’s and a 9 in the men’s! I hope you are having a beautiful day and thank you for that… I’m sure that cool front will come!

Sauna! I mean you’ve been running in the heat all summer but acclimating to heat via sauna is a real thing. Last spring I was signed up to run Flying Pig in Cincinnati on May 1 and it was predicted to be about 65 degrees at race start – which sounds not bad now after a summer of running – but at the time in April in Wisconsin I was running in temps in the teens and 20s still and freaking out just a little. My husband and I both followed a heat acclimation protocol and spent 4-6 days a week in a sauna starting at about 10 minutes per session and working up to 30 minutes per session. The last run we did in Wisconsin before traveling to Cincinatti was at 19 degrees. Race day was as predicted – mid-60s at the start with a chance of rain so slightly humid. We both had AMAZING runs that day and felt that we did not suffer from the extreme temperature changes when many runners in the race were complaining of the heat and humidity. I’m a firm believer and I will do that again if I’m prepping for a hot race.

YOU ARE THE BEST! I will absolutely get in for the sauna as much as possible the next few weeks. Thank you so much for sharing! I can see why you were freaking about over those temps after training in freezing temperatures leading up to it. OFF TO THE SAUNA. You and your husband are amazing. THANK YOU!

I’m so conflicted about Boston too. I wish we didn’t have to commit so far out. My heart isn’t in it right now, but what if I regret not signing up in a few months?!
I think a cold front will come in, and the weather will be perfect for race day!

Did you know you can get insurance on your bib… my friend was telling me today that for an extra $15 you can get insurance in case it doesn’t work out! I am with you… right now I feel like there is no way but come February, I’ll want to so bad! Let me know what you decide. That cold front is just going to be heavenly! Have a beautiful day, Ida!

Hi Janae! That forecast is crazy! I hope it cools down fast after that! I can’t wait for fall weather!

ME TOO! Hoping for a cool wave but the fact it will be 0% humidity is saving me. Hope your day is a great one, Amy!

No candy corn, Andrew! Noooo! Although it is cute for decoration. ;)

I don’t know why we love it so much… but we just can’t stop. Hope your day is a great one, Tess!

I cannot survive without my phone!….forgot it at wortk yesterday, and thought I could do without it over night!……

I’m right there with you! I try to keep it in the other room for a few hours each day but that’s as long as I can go! Have a great one, Warren and don’t forget your phone again!

Wow, that’s a high temp! Pro is at least you don’t have much humidity there.
CIM might just be the golden ticket this year!

Reply

That really is the thing… it’s as dry as it gets so I know I’ll be able to handle it if I race it right:). Humidity is what kills me and I’m hoping CIM is a great day too. Have a beautiful one, Molly!

I live in Charlotte, NC and it’s been SO hot and humid here this Summer! I ran a 10k I ran on Sept. 4th it was 75 degrees and 88% humidity at the 7:30 am start! Literally all I could think about was how hot I was the entire time (which wasn’t very fun to focus on) and I just poured the water on my head at the water stations. You’re going to be ok, I just know it but definitely get water at every station which I know you will and pour it on your head any chance you get! Also wear the least amount of clothes possible- I just ran in a sports bra and shorts. I remember you talking about putting ice in your sports bra so maybe have Andrew give you ice whenever you see him! You’ve got this girl, you’re going to crush the marathon!! So excited for you!
