Music to my ears + runners NEED this calculator.

(shirt, shorts, shoes ((code FMTIB50 STILL gets you 50% off))

A run with Emilee to start the day! 7.48 miles @ 8:25 average, and today is the last Wednesday workout before the marathon!

Always the hardest decision in the morning. They are all too good to choose from.

The number of things I can think of to get done around the house before I get on my mat for core and foam rolling is quite impressive—procrastination at its finest.

I’m usually feeling a bit of the taper crazies, but this time, I am living my best life with the taper. I am thoroughly enjoying the drop in mileage and intensity. I feel like other tapers. I have used my extra energy to clean the house or organize, but not this time; I’m thoroughly enjoying having more time to do absolutely nothing.

We did get out for some errands and fun for them.
We went for a plunj date later on.
The Sauna was hotter than usual, and the tubs were colder than normal. While in the sauna, a lady was telling us about how she was in St. George last weekend and how she didn’t even notice the hot temperatures because of the time she has been going to plunj regularly. It was music to my ears to hear that, and I told her that I had the marathon coming up and how much that calmed any nerves about the heat.
Time for the last Wednesday workout. This training cycle went by way too fast.

It’s that time in the taper where I watch Youtube videos about inspirational runners each night before bed.

Lauren showed me Featherstone Nutrition Carb Loading Calculator. It’s awesome. I will keep track of my carbs and hit the recommendation for me (465 grams a day for three days) next week leading up to my marathon. Go HERE if you need carb-loading tips, ideas, and motivation for this leading up to a race!

Andrew and I have been discussing today’s most random question –> What is the most catchy jingle for a company/product?

-KitKat. I hear that jingle once, and then it will be stuck in my head for two days.

Any inspirational clips that you like to watch leading up to a race (send me the link:)?

Something you are very talented at procrastinating?

Ever tracked your carbs leading up to a race?  Any tips you would add to the carb load?

-For Boston I just ate as many carbs as I could for the two days leading up to the race and it worked out great but I’m excited to try out 465 grams a day!

I’m incredibly talented at procrastinating cleaning. I will do it but I despise having to do all the cleaning at once. Recently I started saying all I have to do is 10 minutes a day and it’s been a game changer! Now I’ll spend a day cleaning one bathroom or I’ll do the kitchen and it’s helped me not dread it so much. But I will still put it off until about 10 minutes before bed ha.

Thank you so much for reminding me of the Kitkat jingle, it will now be stuck in my head for the next few hours haha. Enjoy the last Wednesday workout!

I am SO with you… doing it all at once is so daunting. I can’t handle it. Ten minutes a day… now that I can handle. I love that idea! Hahah you are welcome… break me off a piece of that;)

Happy Wednesday, friend!

I still think you two are superhuman for doing plunj. I think I could manage the heat fine, but the cold????? Yikes!

“What would you do for a Klondike bar?”

Reply

The thing about the heat is that it gets worse as time goes on but the cold gets better as time goes on (because you are too numb haha). You would rock both. OH that one is SO catchy. Hope your morning has been great so far, Corey!

I’m actually procrastinating right now while typing this comment!! Ha!

I must have watched the “Breaking 3” video by “Short Shorts, Low Tolerance” more than 10 times before the Erie Marathon. There aren’t too many videos out there about the Erie Marathon, so when I found this one, I was so excited. The fellas in it are really positive and funny. They’re much faster than I am, but I still got a lot of inspiration out of the video. It was one of many puzzle pieces that led to my BQ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xW3a_iJ8VAQ&t=160s

I am SO happy that I have been able to help you procrastinate! I cannot thank you enough for this link. I have not seen this one! I cannot wait. Seriously, thank you! Hope you are having the best day and congrats again on Erie and your BQ!

Hi Janae! The state farm jingle always gets stuck in my head. I gotta agree, Kipchoge is super inspiring. That carb calculator looks cool but I also gotta find out how many carbs are in common things!
That is such awesome news about the plunj! Really hope it works out and weather forecast calms down too!
I’m off for a group run with a new group! Happy Wednesday!

Reply

Andrew said that is the song that pops into his head too when he thinks about jingles! Yes, we still have some time for the weather to be wrong;). Hope your group run was amazing! Have a beautiful day, Amy!

465 is a lot of carbs! The body can only store so much glycogen. I wouldn’t track macros or try to hit specific numbers, just eat by feel. You don’t want to go into the race feeling weighed down. Also trying something for the first time right before your big race seems like a bad idea. Trust yourself!

this video is about Boston, but it gets me excited for any race-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEoWRSIZB4Q.

VALID POINT…. thank you Ida for that recommendation. Going by feel worked so well for Boston. Thank you for that. Oh and watching that video about Boston gave me goosebumps, I LOVE it so much. Thanks Ida, happy Wednesday!

I procrastinate dishes. Truly my least favorite chore of all time.

Favorite motovational video is the movie Spirit of the Marathon. I’ve watched it at least a dozen times and haven’t even run a full yet 🤣🤣🤷‍♀️ It’s good motivation for any distance, but I’m finally pulling the plug and signing up for CIM next year (live in Cali) because I turn the big 4-0. I think it’ll be a fun way to celebrate! You should start coaching athletes and I’d be the first to sign up because I know I’ll be a dumpster fire trying to train for my first full. Haha. Can’t wait though!

How nice, as a mother of four, to just be able to do nothing.

Andrea/Annie…. I no longer buy into the need to be busy all of the time:). Having time to lay there with kids crawling all over me felt amazing!

Any chance for a reader meet-up with you at the race next weekend? I will be there with a friend and it’s my first marathon! We’re coming all the way from Franklin, Tennessee. :)

Reply

AHHHHHH I would LOVE to meet up! We should do something after the race? Like have a meetup spot in the big park to talk about how everyone did! SO SO excited to meet you! Send me your phone number so we can text!!! Good luck, you are going to love this race so much!

Awesome!!! Sent you a message. :)

This marathon training cycle did seem to go by quickly! And good for you for really taking time this taper to do nothing. I’m sure it all will pay off on race day.
I am so good at procrastinating cleaning. Unless I am in that cleaning mode, I can find anything to push it off, ha.
I know I have said this before, but I don’t know that I could do the ice bath thing. I have been having some tight hip issues, so I’m thinking of going to The Stretch Lab. It’s a place where they help athletes work on tightness in specific areas. My running friend told me about it, so we’ll see.
Have a great last Wednesday workout!!

Yes, it will allllll pay off and I cannot wait! Cleaning really is something that I can push off for dayssssssss. The Stretch Lab sounds amazing. I have to find one here, or start one here;). Thank you for sharing! Thanks Wendy, it’s allllll downhill from here:). So excited for your weekend!

Heh I just used that calculator for an Olympic Distance tri and the recommendation is 564g for 3 days. That’s a lot of potatoes.

Reply

Bring on the potatoes ha. What day is the race????

Break me off a piece of that…Fancy Feast!
And can someone go find Annie up there and given her a hug? Janae, you work hard with running and blogging. You do it so well that you make it seem easy.

Reply

BAHAHAH best episode of the office yet! Hugs are so powerful, I want one too:). I really want to show that doing nothing is great for us too so I’m grateful for that comment:). But thank you! I hope your day is a beautiful one and I am so grateful for your friendship, Molly!

“The snack that smiles back, Goldfish!” – The whole song can be in my head for days!

Question about Core Power – Does it smell? I feel like I’ve tried a million different protein drinks, and I can’t handle the smell of them.

Reply

Bahaha my kids love the goldfish one so much! And now that will be in my head. I’m drinking one right now and I can’t smell a thing and had Andrew smelled mine and nothing for him either. It is milk that is filtered so you don’t have protein added to it if that makes sense? It is shocking! Have a beautiful day, Rachel!

I don’t know what it is about the Happy Birthday song (not a jingle obv) but I catch myself singing it throughout the day.

My husband asks me what I am avoiding if he notices that house is extra clean…the house sparkled when I was in college LOL

I like” Your World Within”. He is a motivational running poet? He does great videos and you can download his albums on Amazon Music. https://youtu.be/yLGfPNhtS2U

Hahaha that one sticks around forever for me too! Oh my gosh hahah I love that your husband asks that. Hilarious! That is a good thing to procrastinate with compared to my scrolling haha.
That just gave me so many goosebumps. WOW. Thank you so so much.

Have the best day, Dawn!

random..I sitting here with a sore throat and headache (is it my time of the month?) feeling sorry for myself and yeah, jingles, I remember two from my high school days, one was for something called life savers something about life-savers a part of living, and a song about smarties, and liking the red ones most…
I really track much, I just know what to stay away from (cheese!) as for clips, I spend so much on YouTube, right now anything with either Emelie Forsberg or Kilian Jornet, there’s one about Emelie’s garden in Norway that has nothing to do with running, but I watch over and over again thinking maybe?….but this now https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHom-2e7EwY&list=PLzng41MV5iopDM1KoY11XYBQgPARow7wp&index=29
don’t know if you can click on the link, but my hands sweat just watching this hike up a peak in New Zealand

We used to play a game in music class (in middle school) and the teacher would play the jingle on the piano and we had teams that would try and ‘name that tune’. It was so fun! I’m drawing a complete blank on all jingles now though. I also hardly ever watch tv in real time so I don’t see commercials like I did way back then.

I am stuck on BandAids, cause BandAids stuck on me. I am stuck on BandAids, cause BandAids stuck on me. Cause they hold on tight in the bathtub and they cling in soapy suuuuddddsss… I am stuck on BandAid brand, cause BandAids stuck on me….. (Best jingle ever and was written by Barry Manilow….) Yep, I’m old……
Second best is – Oh I wish I were an Oscar Mayer weiner. That is what I’d truly love to be. Oh I wish I were an Oscar Mayer weiner, cause everyone would be in love with me……
Third is – My bologna has a first name, it’s O S C A R. My bologna has a second name, it’s M A Y E R. Oh I love to eat it every day, and if you ask me why I’ll saaayyy – cause Oscar Mayer has a way with B O L O G N A…

You are welcome for the ear worm…. HA!
