Friday Favorites!

(Shorts, tank, bra)

Forty intervals were in Robin’s 45-minute HIIT & Hills ride that I took yesterday morning.  I had forgotten how hard the Peloton was (especially Robin’s classes when she is wearing yellow), but doing this once a week will help me stay injury-free and get stronger.  I am positive the Peloton helped me a lot for my last two races, so that will be my motivation to keep jumping on it (plus it is fun)… and maybe someday, I will hit half of Andrew’s output!

I also did a 10-minute bodyweight strength class on the Peloton app, and I swear those classes are usually harder for me than those involving weights!

Andrew made this for me once I finished.  Food tastes so much better when somebody else makes it for you.

We also went on a walk to help Skye build her rollie pollie colony in our backyard.

Last night I got to go on a date with Brookie.  She is leaving for the weekend, so we had some quality time together before leaving.

We ate some treats from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.

And looked at all of the shops.

We finished up our night by riding bikes out in the front yard.

I have just a few favorites from this week:

*A cheap target outfit that Andrew said is his new favorite—> these $25 jeans and these $8 t-shirts!  Both are true to size!

IMG 7546

*If you love the lululemon Align leggings (for their buttery softness), I tried their shorts with POCKETS.  I love them so much.

IMG 7435

*I loved reading about Emilee’s story!

*If you like ‘angry’ music for your workouts like I do, this song came on during my ride, and it was so good.  Spotify has the clean version too.

This weekend my husband and I will be doing the Courir du Festival 5K in our hometown of Lafayette, LA. It’s a 5K taking place during Festival International, which is a music and arts festival that brings in some incredible musicians and performers from all over the globe. It’s of my favorite weekends of the year (plus it’s nice that it always falls on or near my birthday :) This will be my husband’s first 5k, so I’m very excited to run with him! Other than that, we hope to enjoy the nice weather and catch some good music at Festival. Happy Friday Janae! Have a wonderful weekend!

Good luck to you and your husband! That Festival sounds amazing, wish I could join you guys. HAPPY birthday and enjoy celebrating all weekend. I hope your husband just loves his first 5k. Thanks Emily!

Thanks for sharing Emilee’s story! Going to read it as soon as I hit publish.

Tomorrow is going to be busy in a good/fun way! Going on a date where we’re hiking and grabbing some food after plus my dog is coming so it’s a win all around. Then tomorrow night I have a fundraiser that my friend organized which will be fun and I can’t wait to support her event. If you want to send me good vibes for this date I’d love them since it’s someone I talked to a year ago and we reconnected earlier this week. Have a great Friday!

Her story really is so amazing! Ummm that date sounds perfect, you will have to let me know how it goes… I’m sending all of the good vibes and I am so happy you two reconnected. The fact that your dog is coming too makes me very happy. I hope the fundraiser goes great too. Thank you Maureen, you too!

I love that little scooter for Beck! I’m sure he totally feels like one of the big kids now.
Oh my goodness, I did a 45minute 80’s run with Susie (new to me Peloton instructor)… So, so good! She looks and sounds so sweet, but man she makes you work! Loved it!
I love cooking for people, but it is so nice when someone cooks for me. That egg burrito looks so good.
I’m over a very busy couple of months, so this weekend will be all about yard work. Cleaning out all the planting beds, then laying down new bark/mulch.
Have a great Friday Janae ?

Hahah he doesn’t even sit on the seat and just walks with it yet feels like a full grown adult now! I will have to try out that run, her voice sounds deceiving haha. Good luck with all of the yard work! Thanks Wendy, you too!

You’re the second person today to recommend the Target tee! I guess I know where I’m going this weekend!

We’re planning on getting coffees in Portland (Maine!) and letting the kids play on the beach while we drink it! I will probably also get one of the honey walnut goat cheese scones I have been dreaming of.

Eggs are my favorite food so that’s a hard call, but I love omelets the most I think!

Have a great weekend!

It must be a sign that you need the tee! That sounds like the perfect experience… I need that scone right this second. I hope you get an omelet asap. Thanks Meghan, you too!

I’m jealous of the nice weather you seem to be having! It’s still gray and dreary and chilly in Iowa. I am SO ready for some warmth and sunshine!
My in-laws are coming into town this weekend; we haven’t seen them since Christmas, so they’re very excited to see my baby bump! I think we’re going to try to hit some yard sales and look for some good baby deals. :)
Favorite thing this week – I had the opportunity to participate in a conference that my work sponsored called “Women Lead Change” and it was so rewarding and fulfilling to be surrounded by women in leadership or women who want to be in leadership. I learned a lot and I am excited to stretch my skills!
I prefer to do the cooking, unless it’s at a restaurant. My husband does make the BEST pancakes though, so that’s one exception.
Have a good weekend, Janae!

You better get better weather soon! Have a great time with your in-laws and I need to see your baby bump! What an amazing conference. I love that your work sponsored it and that you were all able to learn so much. I hope you get some of those pancakes soon, thanks Rhiannon!

I love angry music for running, adding to my list! Thanks!

I finally got some of the Amazon joggers you recommended and I have been living in them this week. So comfy and they look more put together than my leggings!

This weekend is busy for me! Tomorrow long run, then a day out with a friend at a local flower festival and the aquarium. Sunday is brunch with friends from school that I haven’t seen in a while, since some of them graduated! Have a great weekend!

Reply

There is just something about angry music that really helps me to push it ha. I am SO happy to hear that you love the joggers! Have the best weekend… I want to come to brunch. Thanks Mariah!

Happy Friday, Janae!
Beck looks like one of the big kids with his helmet and scooter and so nice that you and Brooke had a date :o)
We are playing in a golf tournament tomorrow. Looking forward to it, but hoping the wind dies down. We have had CRAZY wind all week long and the air temps aren’t overly warm to begin with, so the wind makes a real difference (not in a good way LOL). Sunday, hoping for a run or hike (haven’t decided), some yard work, and all the chores I won’t get done tomorrow.
I love if someone else cooks, because it’s a rare thing! I no longer eat eggs, but when I did it was a toss up between a really good omelette and sunny side up over toast.
Have an awesome weekend, Janae!

Right? That scooter has aged him so much! Have the best time at the tournament. That is just so cool that you do this and I hope the wind chills out for you! Sounds like a beautiful weekend and I hope someone cooks for you soon. Thanks friend, you too!

Same, strength is worse than weights!
15 years ago, I wanted to make everything myself, so it was “exactly how I wanted it.” The the exactly how I want it, is someone else to make it. ;)

What is it about the bodyweight stuff?! Hahaha I relate to that change so much. Have a beautiful day, Erica!

I love Beck’s scooter!! Can you share a link?

My daughter (college) has a track meet today so we are going to go watch her run for the first time this year. Tomorrow is prom for my younger daughter. (She is going with friends so not high-pressure.) And in between we need to get yard work done and keep the Great Dane we are watching from tearing the house apart. (This might be hard as he escaped from his kennel this morning at 1:00 am. 16 weeks is a tough puppy age.) I like egg whites. I’ve never liked yolks except on hamburgers. My dog growing up had the healthiest coat because she got my yolks. People always assume it is a health choice but nope, just don’t like yolks. My husband is the chef in the house and everything he makes is better.

I hope your daughter has an amazing meet and I love that you get to go watch! She must be so fast. I hope your younger daughter has the best prom too, going with friends sounds like a great idea. Good luck with the dog sitting ha… I cannot imagine! Isn’t it the best to have husbands that make delicious food? Have a beautiful day, Jackie!

Definitely a long run this week-end on trails.

Such a cool marathon story!! Although I think my body would break at 95 miles a week lol. Though I have hope maybe some pbs remain for me lol.

Hope you have a fantastic weekend janae !

Reply

Can I come up and join you for your gorgeous trails this weekend?! 95 miles a week is seriously so so much. You absolutely have some personal records up ahead. Thank you Kristine, you too!

Kicking off the weekend by celebrating my husband’s birthday. I’ll be making a key lime pie while he is at work.
The rest of the weekend involves the usual long run and house chores. Hopefully plenty of reading in between!

Happiest birthday to your husband and that pie is going to be amazing! Have a great long run and I hope the chores fly by! Thanks Molly!

I like when other people do the dishes for me HA!! I love omelettes and make those the most often but when I have leftover pizza I like to scramble the eggs and scrape the cheese, sauce, and toppings off a slice or two into the eggs and cook them together.

Robin’s classes are so hard!!! I did one the other day and I don’t know how she stops between intervals and then goes again. I have to keep going (slowly or knock off resistance) but if my legs stop completely I’m a goner and feel like I take too much time in the interval just getting going again.

Have a fun weekend!

Reply

Wouldn’t it just be the best ever if we never had to dishes again. Ummmm I will be trying your leftover pizza trick! That sounds amazing. I was seriously wondering the same thing, if I stopped like she does I would never start again. Thank you friend, you too!

Hi Janae! I really love eggs!! Pretty much any way is good. I’m going to a baby shower this weekend and really hoping the weather clears up cuz it’s outside!
Happy Friday!

Have the best time at the baby shower and I hope you all get amazing weather asap. Happy Friday to you too!

I have to thank you for recommending the Peloton app many moons ago. I love it and am currently working on a 16 week streak. I’m getting the bike soon and wondering what kind of bike shoes you use? I’ve heard the Peloton bike shoes are okay, and many people talk about Nikes and another brand that’s escaping me at the moment. Would love any recommendation you may have.

Have a great weekend!

Beth, this makes me SO happy. It really is my favorite app and way to go on your 16 week streak. That is so impressive! I absolutely love my bike shoes and here is the link:

You’ll have to let me know what you think of the bike and whatever shoes you get!

Are your chickens able to fulfill all of your egg needs? The price of eggs drastically increased in MN a few weeks ago, making me wish I owned a few hens :) Hopefully your chickens have stayed safe from Avian flu!

Reply

Hey Katie! Yes, our chickens keep up with our egg needs now that it is more light outside. I read somewhere that there is a carton shortage and that is causing the increase in prices! I think you should get some hens. They are doing well! Thanks friend, happy weekend!
