He supports it + survival mode?

(Shorts, bra, tank, shoes)

We decided to turn yesterday’s run into a group event indoors (I love running easy indoors but speed work indoors is not my favorite).  It felt so good to have feeling in my entire body during a run, I was even sweating which was a very welcoming experience.

4.55 miles, 9:16 average, and 32 stops per mile.

Skye did a mile all by herself.  I think it fuels her each time we tell her to jump in the stroller to go a little bit further.

She is an energizer bunny.

We cannot stop eating oranges over here which reminded me of the time I was googling if it was possible to eat TOO many oranges when I was pregnant with Beck.

IMG 4697

Beck was very excited to start using Skye’s old power wheels to get around the house.

For the activity that I do with the girls in our area twice a month, we made these cute cookie bouquets.

Friday’s race might just turn into running in survival mode, I have no idea what the conditions will be like on the island… but this will turn it even more into an adventure and I cannot wait!

Just a few more random things to talk about…

I’ve already decided that after the race we will be driving straight to Lehi bakery.  I have awarded them with the best donuts in Utah and I will stand by my statement forever.

*Erica sent this to me yesterday after I wrote about people telling me that I shouldn’t eat candy after a workout… turns out that Ryan Hall supports it;).

PS If anyone else has been following the Barkley Marathon or loves reading about it, this list of facts from A-Z is very interesting.  It made me realize the entire event is even crazier than I thought.  They aren’t even allowed to bring their GPS watch but I am jealous of the $1.60 race application fee… too bad every race isn’t that cheap!

Also, this is an interesting watch about Nicky (52 and a breast cancer survivor) at the Barkley Marathon in 2019!

Do any Utahns disagree with my best donut award?

Tell me what your run or workout is today?

What is the craziest/hardest part about the Barkley Marathon in your opinion?

Are most of your runs out and back, loops or a combo?

Today’s workout is 2×400, 2×800, 2×400.

Those cookie flower arrangements are adorable, great idea!

Most of my runs are loops, I like to see different things!

That workout looks awesome! You are going to crush it. I love a good loop run too. Have a happy Thursday, Mariah!

Good luck on your race, Janae! I think I mentioned last summer we went to Antelope Island as my stepson lives in Logan (currently stationed w/ the National Guard in my home state of Missouri here)…..we took SOOOO many pictures of wildlife and the scenery was just absolutely stunning!!! While I can’t run any more due to a back/L4-L5 injury, I still walk and that race would have been high on my list to do in any length (did one 50K years ago Chicago Lakefront).

Wishing you all the best!

Aaawwww, a family fun day at the indoor track! So fun and much better than the outside temps. I heard it was absolutely freezing yesterday.
Those cookie bouquets are adorable. I bet the girls loved putting them together.
The Barkley marathon is crazy! How are you following along?
I would say most of my runs are loops, but I do have a couple of our and backs that I do regularly too.
I have a very quiet day today, so I am taking advantage of that and doing an easy 8 miles on my favorite local trail.
Have a good day Janae ?

Yes, it was so nice to finally sweat haha! I’ve just been following along on twitter or headlines I can find that will pop up! Enjoy that quiet day and I hope you get in some reading too. Thanks Wendy, you too!

Tracy, you did a 50k!? That is amazing and I am seriously so sorry about your back injury. SO happy you were able to come out to Utah to visit your stepson and see antelope island. I’m not sure why more people don’t go there! Let me know next time you are here and thank you so much. Have a wonderful day!

I live in Missouri too. Northwest area, north of KC. So over the snow……..

Hope you are feeling confident about your race! It seems like you are. I’m now very interested with your pivot (pi-vot!!!) into marathon training.

Do you follow Howie Stern on the gram to get updates on Barkley?

Reply

Hahaha it really is quite the pi-vot!!! hahaha! No, I don’t but I will for next year now. Hope your morning is off to a great start. Thanks Molly!

Janae those cookie bouquets are so much fun I think I need to do some of those with my kids to bring to my mom and other residents in assisted living!

Oh the Barkley Marathons. I refreshed my Twitter constantly. Jasmin was AMAZING getting in her “fun” run. Everything about that event is crazy and makes me realize running a marathon on the roads is so conservative =] Every year I tell myself how much I want to attempt that Barkley knowing full well that I would 1) never be accepted and 2) if I were to be accepted Laz would surely give me the #1 bib knowing I was doomed!

Most of my runs are out and backs but I have a favorite 5 mile loop I never get tired of when my distance is 5.

Have a great day!

Yes, you totally should make them with your kids and deliver them. They turned out so cute. Jasmin seriously was amazing and I love that they call it a ‘fun’ run. Seriously, it makes me see that my trail runs are quite tame too haha. I’m positive I would get the #1 bib over you;) A five mile loop is just perfection. Thanks LC, you too!

That’s a great way to get out Skye’s energy! That cookie bouquet looks so fun! See you are crafty!

I ran a slow 7 miles on the treadmill. I am getting over pink eye and my lost voice so I knew I shouldn’t push the pace.

My runs are a mess! I tend to base my route off of the wind direction. The majority of my runs are out and backs with loops in the middle portion.

Crossing my fingers that the race conditions are favorable on Friday!

Have a great Thursday Janae!

Reply

Hahah I’m trying but that was definitely my partner, I just helped with supplies! You are so smart to take it easy and I didn’t know you had pink eye too! I love that you base your runs off of the wind and I would do the same. Thank you friend and I hope you are back feeling 100% soon!

Good luck on your race! :) And whoa girl, your arms look sick in that first picture! They are tank top/summer ready! :)

Thank you so much, I can’t wait. It’s weird how much I have missed (who am I?!) strength training this week bc of the race. Hope your morning is off to a wonderful start and I love your name!

I watched the Barkley documentary based on one of your posts and have recommended it to so many people! Even if you’re not a runner, like me, it’s still an amazing event.

I am SO glad. It really is one of the best documentaries out there. Hope your day is a wonderful one, Samantha!

My workout today is a spin class.

To me the craziest part about the Barkley marathon is how many people they get to do it! LOL! But for real! Also the whole unmarked course thing, no thanks!

Most of my runs are loops.

Reply

I miss going to spin classes so much, I hope you have the best time. I agree, I am amazed there are so many brave people that will even attempt an UNMARKED?!? course. Happy Thursday, Caitlyn!

Reply

my runs are mostly loops..but all over the place. i’m really good at getting myself and those I run with lost..sometimes say we’re turning left we’re actually turning right..or maybe straight ahead…..
my fave right now are blood red oranges, at first i thought they were grapefruit…..and pink lady apples
work out today just may be yoga after work, I’ve got a long shift at the RRoom today

Hi Janae! Rectangular donuts?? That looks so cool!! Wish we could have some of your snow it’s all rain over here through the weekend! One of the things that seemed crazy to me about Barkley is running the course different directions at different times of day so you never get used to it.
Have a great day!

I just did a run this morning at antelope island through my iFIT! It was snowy! My IT band was feeling a little better, but I probably shouldn’t push it – so they were very SLOW….miles!

I love loops – but also out and back sometimes because then I know where my time should be at exactly!

Can’t wait to hear how the race goes!

Hey Janae!
All the best for your upcoming race!
Would you be able to ask people how they track Peloton outdoor runs using an Apple watch? Mine seems to be glitching :(
Hoping someone has some insights! You know how we love our data.
Have a great day!

Also, thank you so much for each and every one of the posts that you create. I have to tell you that today is my 51st birthday and that video you posted of Nicky Spinks at the Barkley was EXACTLY what I needed to see today. WOW, what a woman and kudos to her for her amazing spirit and sense of adventure! I needed a kick in the heinie to pursue big goals and this was perfect!

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the race tomorrow!
