Today I have my first race with all 3 of my daughters!! I am so excited for it, just a cupids 5k and they are doing the kids k but I bought them all little sweats outfits and I am entering the “most pink” contest. Should be a blast. We are possibly going to breakfast after which would be a fun treat them just normal saturday chores to get ready for a big family valentine party tomorrow that I am hosting with my side of the family. Anyway, Happy Valentines weekend!

What a fun day with Skye and Beck! Although I am not sure about the chocolate covered gummy bears. I am pretty sure I would just eat the chocolate;-).

Do they have any say where they go for the mission?

I have been up with some type of stomach bug since 4:45, I am hoping it passes quickly. If it does, I want to go for a short run to get some fresh air. I was going to prep some food for the Super Bowl tomorrow, but I don’t think anyone will want me touching their food;-). Otherwise, I think I will be spending the day on the couch and hopefully feel good enough to do some lesson plans so they day isn’t a total wash.

Have a fabulous Saturday Janae!

Hey Becky! I just need you to try one chocolate covered gummy bear and let me know what you think! I don’t think they have a say unless they have some sort of need/health condition etc. He was very surprised to get called to Arkansas and my other nephew is in Nashville! I am SO so sorry about your stomach bug. That is such a bummer but I hope you are feeling 100% asap. SO hoping you get to have the fun party tomorrow! Thanks friend!

The only thing that has helped with cramps was taking Flo Vitamins (not sponsored, not affiliated, just a fan!) I went from having to alternate between ibuprofen and Midol for three days straight (even setting an alarm overnight because the pain would otherwise wake me up) to only needing to take pain meds once in a while. The vitamins come in gummies or capsules (I took the gummies) and were genuinely life-changing!

Reply

I have never heard of Flo Vitamins… I am SO getting them (and the packaging is so cute too). Thank you so much for sharing with me and I am so happy you found something that made your life so much better (and less painful… I seriously cannot believe how bad they were last night!!). Have a happy weekend, thanks Liz.

Funny I took the koolaid too and ordered a month ago. I love them too! I swear I only ever got zits around ovulation / my period… I already notice a BIG difference!

1 working
2 visiting my mom in assisted living <3
3 running

My dad worked for his uncle's Sinclair gas station way back in the 1940's – any time we are on the road and I see a dinosaur at a Sinclair station I stop to take a picture!

Have a great weekend!

Reply

Thank you so much for sharing your sweet memories of that Sinclair gas station and how you always stop! I hope work goes well, your time with your mom is amazing and that you have a fabulous run. Thanks LC, you too!

Hi Janae! So sorry to hear about your cramps! I hope you get lots of rest and they don’t last too long.
We are in Colorado now! I’m going to go run in the snow!
Have a great weekend!

Reply

Thank you so much! Luckily they are feeling so much better today and I had a great run. ENJOY COLORADO!! I’ve heard they have way more snow than we do in Utah! Thanks friend, you too!

Heart hair! I love it!
Sorry about your cramps. That’s the worst. Hopefully you’ll be feeling better today.
We’re in San Diego, so first thing is a run on the beach!! And it’s an absolutely beautiful morning! After that, I’m not sure what we have planned. But there will be sushi tonight at a favorite local place.
Have a great weekend Janae ?

THANK YOU! And I was so happy to wake up feeling a million times better. I hope your run on the beach was amazing and enjoy the sushi and whatever else you guys do today in San Diego. Sounds perfect. Thanks Wendy!

I’m a gynecologist, so I’m always tempted to try to help or advise when folks complain about cramps! There are so many different things that can make a huge difference – it can just take a bit of trial and error to find the right solution. The right thing for me ended up being an IUD. I used to have terrible periods, but now I’ve literally gone years with no bleeding or pain. Ever. It’s so amazing to be able to run every day without being bothered by my period.

Reply

I am SO thankful you are willing to help others with this! I am SO happy the IUD has helped you so much. Which one do you use? Thanks and have the best rest of your weekend!

Reply

I have a Mirena IUD. On average, the Mirena reduces period bleeding by about 90%. This reduces cramping significantly because cramping is often caused by blood and clots coming through the cervix. About half of people who have a Mirena don’t get any period at all – like me. Normally it would be a problem if someone pre-menopausal (who wasn’t pregnant!) didn’t have a period, but it’s safe with a Mirena IUD. Like with any other medication, there are some risks, but they’re very small. It’s common to have irregular spotting while your body adjusts to it, and that usually disappears over time. The insertion procedure is unpleasant, but it’s usually quick and the IUD lasts 5-7 years. I consider it one of the best decisions I ever made!!

MY CRAMPS ARE ALSO GETTING WORSE WITH AGE. AS IN I DIDN’T EVEN HAVE THEM UNTIL I WAS 30. UGH THE WORST.

Not me, secretly waiting for menopause at the age of 41.

Reply

I mean I am hoping for menopause at 35 so I get it;). I am so sorry… I seriously cannot believe how bad they can get (mine are the worst at night?!?).

5 mile run with friends, donuts and coffee after, errands, and studying for a midterm next week! Have a happy Saturday!

I live in Northwest Arkansas. Can you tell me where he is going? I saw a temple is being built here. It’s going to be beautiful!!

Reply

Hey Lindsey! He is going to Bentonville! Is that near you???

Reply

Yes! I live 15 minutes from there. I hope he loves it! Bentonville is where the new temple is going to https://churchofjesuschristtemples.org/bentonville-arkansas-temple/.

This is sooooooooooo exciting! Wow, it is gorgeous! You’ll have to keep an eye out for him!!!!!

15 mile run, 4 on VERY muddy trails with friends. My splits were comical, so slow with the mud as we had to walk through spots that were too slippery and then my road miles sped up. Cleaning house and some evaluations to type ( special Ed teacher). There’s a hoarse back riding lesson in there for a kid and a play date at our house.

Reply

15 miles with 4 of those miles on the muddy trails?! You are so so strong. Sounds like a busy day, I hope tomorrow is a bit more relaxing!

Vitamin c can help with cramps! I discovered this by accident, but there is some science behind it.

SO GOOD TO KNOW! Thanks Claire, I will try this! Happy weekend!

watching olympics again…snow racing looks fun, not as amazing as freestyle and women’s downhill, but, yeah….just finished off a nutrition talk for my learn to run group, one of my participants was complaining about being too thin…seriously? and yeah, I’ll throw on the traction aids and get out for a short run…..or may save it to go big tomorrow, the ice scared me a bit yesterday..and I guess I have to do something for valentine’s day, or after being married for 36 years, can I just pretend I forgot this year, or will that turn out bad?

Reply

Yay for watching more Olympics. You must do something for your wife!!! Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Warren!

It’s been 50+ degrees here in NJ which is dreamy to run in especially after having snow a few weeks ago…but of course, my hamstring felt sore. So I took a break Thursday, walked Friday…and today feeling better, I went out for a run because I didn’t want to miss such good running weather. Didn’t feel great running back unfortunately–this really sucks and sympathize with you when you were experiencing your plantar issues. Have you experienced hamstring issues in past?

Reply

I am so happy that you guys have had such great weather… perfect for running. I am SO bummed about your hamstring though. That is so frustrating. I have in the past but Dr. Bennett was able to work his magic on them… have you ever seen a chiropractor? Getting everything realigned and my muscles all activating (so my hamstrings weren’t doing ALL of the work) really helped. Please keep me updated, you need to be out there enjoying that weather!

Reply

That’s a good idea…I had this back in many years ago and my chiropractor helped but he was also into sports therapy which helped. I just need to find a new one now. Thank you for the reminder!

You are welcome! Keep me updated!

My periods are sooo much worse after having three kids… what is up with that?!?! And what exactly do people do on their missions? I’m so curious what it’s all about! I live in Michigan so there are not very many Mormons here!

Reply

Laura, you are not alone. I seriously cannot believe how much mine has changed since having kids! The missionaries do a lot of service and also teach people that are interested about Jesus and our faith! Thanks for asking, that means a lot, have the best rest of your weekend!

Reply

I agree, my cramps are getting so much worse with age. I never had to take medication growing up, but now I have to take ibuprofen for the last year or so on my first day or I can barely function. They are so terrible! I’m actually in bed myself with them RIGHT NOW! Hopefully we both wake up feeling better!

I just had a health consult and was instructed to start taking magnesium to help with cramps (400-500 mg daily). I know magnesium was so helpful while I was pregnant, so curious to see how it helps now. I also found using a menstrual cup rather than tampons cut down on cramping, but I know that’s not for everyone haha. Hope you find some relief!
