I Feel This + Most-Viewed Posts of 2021!

It was another rough day for Skye… We went to the doctor again and watched 14 movies so I don’t have any pics but  I’ll be back to normal posting tomorrow.  Oh and I loved reading about your 2022 goals in the comments yesterday, so excited about them ALL!

PS Every single year I feel this so deeply, especially this year!

Are you staying up until midnight on NYE?

-Absolutely not.

Did 2021 feel like it went by quickly, slowly or somewhere in the middle?

Does this time between Christmas and New Year’s feel so weird to you too?

Ooh it makes me so sad that poor little Skye is still sick! I’m so sorry that you’ve been dealing with so many sick kiddos Janae. You’re absolutely doing the right thing, there’s nothing sick kids need more than snuggles from mom! I am absolutely NOT staying up till midnight for New Years. I start work at 4:45am on weekdays, and even on weekends I’m up till 8pm at the latest. I love sleep too much, seeing the new year isn’t worth it. I feel as though this year has gone by super fast. It didn’t really feel like it’s own year to me, more like 2020 part II. I don’t think the week between Christmas and New Years feels all that strange since I’m still working this week, however I’ve basically been living off of leftover Christmas ham and chocolate, so my body has no idea what is going on! Wishing your family wellness and health!

Thank you Courtney, I am really hoping that when she wakes up today she will be better. Now Brooke has pink eye, we might never leave the house again. I totally agree, that snuggles are the best medicine for them! 4:45… that is SO early! You are incredible. I love sleep too much too, I think us staying up until 8 is the perfect solution for NYE. And now I need leftover Christmas ham and chocolate for breakfast. Enjoy the rest of your week, thank you friend.

Poor Skye, she has been through the ringer this past month! I hope she feels better soon! Looking back, 2021 seemed to fly by but at the same time, it felt like it dragged when I was in the midst of it (if that makes since). Definitely going to check out your top 10 posts; I’m so glad I found your blog this year! We’ll be spending NYE with my husband’s family, but I doubt I’ll make it to midnight. I’ve got a run planned the following morning and I’ll be dragging if I stay up past 11pm (wow, I feel old typing that). Happy and healthy new year to you and your family!

Hey Emily! Thank you so so much, I am really hoping that today is the day that things get turned around. That makes perfect sense about 2021… I feel that too. Thank you for hanging out with me this year. Wish I could join you for that run the next day, sounds like a blast. I’m hoping 2022 is our healthiest year yet and the same to you. Happy Thursday, friend!

I feel your pain with Skye. All three kids have covid. It waited until 12/27 to show up so Christmas day wasn’t ruined but the rest of it is. I don’t think they feel as bad as Skye does. They are mostly bored because they are stuck isolating in their rooms because my husband and I don’t have it……….yet. It can only be a matter of time. I hope Skye is feeling better soon.
I won’t be staying up until midnight on NYE. I value my sleep too much. I’m off this week so I’ve been going to bed at my usual time and sleeping in. It has been great catching up on sleep. I need all the rest I can get heading into tax season.

Have a great day! I hope Skye has a great day!

Lee, I am so so so so sorry that your kiddos have Covid. That is terrible. Keep me updated with how they are doing and if you and your husband are able to avoid it. Enjoy catching up on sleep and good luck going into your busiest season of the year. Thanks Lee, you too!

Poor Skye! Hope she catches a break and feels better soon! (And that you guys get some rest, too.)
I’m going to a friend’s outdoor party, so I’m planning to be up for midnight. We’ll see how that works out once I get there, LOL!
I still feel like it’s 2020 sometimes, since such a strange period of life started then. Fast, slow…let’s just say time warp every day ;)
Most people at my work take leave the last 1-2 weeks of the year. Being one of the few working means having less to do and the days drag a bit, but it’s also a nice change of pace, and I get to save my leave to use when the weather is nice :)

Thank you Corey, I am really hoping today is the day that she wakes up feeling a bit more like herself. Teach me your ways on staying up until midnight. Sounds like it is going to be such a fun night though. Yep, time warp is the best answer to that question. That is so smart to save your leave for times with more sunshine. I hope your day at work today goes by quickly and peacefully. Thanks friend!

Aww poor Skye! Sending well wishes, I hope she feels better soon!

In some ways 2021 flew by, but then in other ways I still feel like we are in a time warp with covid. But at least we got to spend more time with family and friends in 2021!

Not sure if I’ll stay up on NYE! My dad signed up for a midnight race, but that might be too late for me haha.

Thank you Mariah, I am really hoping today is a much better day for her. That is so so true… time warp is a very accurate description for the year. A MIDNIGHT RACE?!?! I need more details on this and if you do it, I better get to hear all about it. That is amazing… your dad sounds like so much fun. Have a happy day!

Oh poor Skye:-(. I hope she bounces back soon! Enjoy all the movie watching and snuggles.

My plan is not to stay up until midnight, but my 11 year old really wants to. I have a feeling I will fall asleep long before she does.

I thought 2021 went by really fast, but when I think back to what we all did (vacations, husbands new job, etc), it seems like a long time ago!

This week always feels very odd. I have had it off for the past 7 years, but I was telling my husband that this is the first year I have really enjoyed it. It might be because my kids are older or I have calmed down a bit in my old age;-) I am enjoy this very slow, relaxing, non-scheduled week. In the past, my anxiety would have went into over-drive and I would be counting the days until we would get back into our routine–this year I am embracing the relaxing days at home.

Enjoy your Thursday, Janae!

Becky, it made me so happy to hear that you have really enjoyed this time off right now. Keep enjoying the routineless days! Hahah you’ll have to let me know who lasts longer between you and your 11 year old on NYE. Good luck and you guys really have had a busy day. Thanks friend, you too!

Melissa, thank you so much! I am hoping. today is the best day yet for her. Hope your Thursday is a great one!

Good morning, Janae! So bummed to hear that Skye is still feeling sick. All good health vibes coming at her today :o)
VERY unlikely I will make it to midnight. If I do, it will be because I had caffeine too late in the day LOL. My fiancé definitely won’t make it. We have two friends stopping by late afternoon for a small, early celebration which is fine by me.
I feel like 2021 was in competition with 2020 to win worst year ever. Parts of it seemed to drag and other parts, especially the last 3 or 4 months FLEW by. Trying to be optimistic and yet manage my expectations for 2022…
I have the time between Christmas and New Year off from work every year (we shut down) and while I appreciate the generally slower pace, I’m finding I struggle knowing what to do when I actually have some free time on my hands, so to answer your question – yup, it feels weird for sure. Here’s hoping today is the day Skye turns the corner on this rotten illness!!

Thank you Janine, I’m crossing all of my fingers that today is a much better day for her. Hahaha good luck with staying up on NYE and I am so glad that your friends will be able to stop by for a bit tomorrow. “Trying to be optimistic and yet manage my expectations for 2022….” AMEN to that. I am trying to do the exact same thing, it’s a tricky thing to balance. Wish we could get together for lunch today. I hope you are able to find some things to do today that bring you joy. Thanks friend and have a great Thursday!

Poor Skye!! I was hoping she was starting to get better. Sending you all love and hugs!
This year has absolutely flown by! And yes, this week always feels so weird to me.
We are going to a neighbor friend’s party on NYE, so we may stay up until midnight, but we’ll see. Ha Usually we’re not up.
You all hang in there, and I hope today is a much better day for Skye!

Thank you so so much Wendy, I am hoping today is the day too. Good luck staying up until midnight and have the best time at the party! Thanks friend, I’m very excited for this week to be over ha. Happy almost new year!

I like to celebrate the new year with New York so I can be in bed by 9:30 in California. Favorite New Year’s tradition is a long run early on New Year’s day.

Les has a theory about how much faster time goes as we get older – I totally agree, each year seems to go faster than the last! (With the exception of 2020, the year that would not end.) http://mcmomentsandmemories.blogspot.com/2009/07/time-flies.html

I haven’t known what day it is since Sunday. We had a different church schedule and it threw me off. Les took the week off work and we didn’t have our midweek Bible study, further confusing me!

The first half of 2021 was so slow for me as I was finishing school, but then summer came and I finally had time to do nothing which I needed after 3 years of school part time and full time working. This last quarter of the year seemed to go by quick and I still can’t believe it’s going to be a new year in just a couple days. I will probably not be staying up until midnight, pretty sure the latest I can make it recently is 10pm lol. I hope Skye feels better soon. I’m happy New Year’s day is Saturday and I have off work tomorrow so yay for another long weekend, then no holidays until Memorial day! I think this weekend I’m going to see Sing 2 in theaters. I have no kids but me and my husband still love the animated movies lol.

Before kids, so 11 years ago, we hosted a NYE party. The clock struck 12 and I thought everyone would go home – nope! They were just getting started and people stayed until 4:00! I vowed to never host again and have been in bed well before midnight ever since.

Growing up my mom would always make huge snack platters on NYE and we’d all hang out in the living room watching movies and playing board games. It’s a tradition that I’m keeping with my kids. In the morning I’ll make Monkey Bread for breakfast.

It’s never fun to have a sick kid but especially over the holidays.

Praying for Skye!
And nope….I am sure I will be in bed by 10 at the latest ❤️

Since Sunday, I’ve been completely clueless about the day of the week. The fact that we attended church on a different timetable than everyone else threw me off.
