That’s a great book but there is one storyline which is absolutely heartbreaking- you’ll know which one it is when you get into it.
Glad to see Skye is joining Andrew in getting ready for Halloween!
Have a great weekend!

I’ll have to email you when I get to that storyline… I’m guessing I’ll be crying?! Hahah yes, Skye definitely has his Halloween genes. Thank you friend, you too!

Have you seen the show on Hulu? I have not, but just finished another book that hulu made in to a series….little fires everywhere …it ( the book ) was fabulous! I have nine perfect strangers on my to do reading list!

Reply

I keep seeing the advertisement for it so I’m going to have to watch it after I finish it! I LOVED Little Fires Everywhere, so so good. I need to watch the show now. Let me know when you start reading this one… we should do a big book club. Have the best weekend Lori and I hope you had the best trip. Good luck with that laundry and enjoy the outdoor time!

Reply

Oh yes, my 3 things: Pure Barre, laundry ( just returned from vacation laundry is the worst)….some type of outdoor adventure!

A 2.2 mile walk with my husband, before sunrise (because the high temp today will be in the mid 90s!), Food prep and cooking for the coming work week and a surprise 80th Bday party for a good friend of my husband.
That pic of Beck at the window is SO sweet!

Reply

I am so happy you got your walk in with your husband today! Sounds so peaceful:). Enjoy the food prep and the bday party! Thank you Susie, have the best weekend!

Skye’s costume is adorable! My nieces love paw patrol too.

7 mile run this morning. I was a little sad because last weekend I was with my family and my dad ran the last part of my long run with me. But today, there was a guy who looked very similar to my dad right in front of me for the last couple miles! Weird but also nice haha.

Now onto errands and homework, then thinking movie night! Happy Saturday!

Reply

Mariah! I bet you are missing your family a lot, that is so hard. I wish you had your dad to finish every long run with you. I love that he did that last week with you. I hope you have a trip planned soon. GOOD LUCK with the homework, I hope maybe tomorrow you get a break from homework?! Thanks and enjoy that movie!

Hi Janae,
I started watching the series on Hulu so I had to get the book at the library. I am just starting it too! Taking it with me camping tonight.

Camping, fishing, laundry, prep for the week.

My daughter asked when we could put out the Halloween decorations yesterday! We are still supposed to be in the solid 90’s this week for temps here in Boise!
Have a great day!

Reply

WE NEED A BOOK CLUB! Enjoy your camping trip… sounds like a blast! Hahaha Andrew would have said YES! Thanks Jenny and let me know what you think of the book!

Skye’s costume is SO CUTE!!

1. 4:30 wake-up for long run in order to get to
2. 9:00 baptism rehearsal at church
3. SO MUCH COUCH SITTNG

We just started watching Nine Perfect Strangers on Hulu. It’s so strange and good!

Reply

WOW. I bet you are worn out. Way to get up and going for that long run! I hope that baptism rehearsal went really well?! I can’t wait to watch it after I’m done… we will have to all talk about it together. Happy weekend, Margie!

I have been hearing about that book a lot lately, and my niece just started watching the series. The cast sounds incredible!
I have a somewhat typical Saturday here… Run, yoga, pool. It’s been in the 90’s so pool time is a must. I’m so glad I got the house cleaned yesterday so that the weekend can be stress free.
Utah is so pretty!!
Have a great weekend!

I am really excited to watch it once I am done reading the book. I am so glad I finished cleaning too… feels good to relax. It is so hot there still… enjoy the pool! Thanks Wendy, you too!

Those refreshments look amazing! On my way home from barre, I stopped through the Dunkin’ Donuts drive-thru to get me and Tom breakfast sandwiches and noticed that their pumpkin EVERYTHING and their apple cider EVERYTHING are already on the menu! I am trying to be a bit more mindful about my eating right now (it sort of tanked in the last couple of months–time to course-correct and restore balance and thoughtful decisions), but at some point I might need to do an actual seasonal donut taste test and decide for myself, side by side, which I like better. ;) But before I do that, I might need to consider having a couple of weeks where I get back to making steel cut oats in the crock pot and one week to pumpkin pie and the next week apple pie. Set a foundation of #health and then make room for the indulgence! ;)

What am I up to today? Well, I just got home from my weekly barre class and put in a load of laundry. Other than that, I am meeting some acquaintances at a taqueria mid-afternoon just to blow off some steam, and I am going to search for a replacement for my favorite shimmery nude lip gloss that was discontinued a year or two ago, and I am going to jump into my new book–THE LOST APOTHECARY.

I can’t wait to hear how you like NINE PERFECT STRANGERS–I might have to put that on my list! I just finished FIREFLY LANE (and loved it! Cried *many* times while reading that novel…), and after I finish the book I have now I am reading UNORTHODOX. One of my strategies (aside from applying to jobs, doing one “adulting” thing really well each day, and getting consistent about HEAVY weight-strength training and going to the gym and/or the yoga studio and/or the trails each day) for getting through funemployment is over-exaggerating the time I spend on my most favorite hobby of them all: reading good books. :)

Reply

Hey Stephanie! PUMPKIN is out and going already?! I want to do a seasonal donut taste test with you… that is such a fun idea. I am so excited for pumpkin pie up ahead, that sounds really good right now. ENJOY that taqueria and good luck finding the gloss. How do they discontinue the perfect gloss… rude! I will have to check out both of those books once I am done! Keep enjoying the reading, you deserve it. Happy weekend!

First, thanks for letting me know about Knox’s hair gel yesterday. The light hit it just right in the pic. So, it’s Got2b. Thanks! Seems frivolous with all the goings on in the world, but there is something about bringing _____ (what?) to hair. Is it easier contained hair? modern hair? Make us feel awesome hair? There really is something about having hair go vertical, thus the product exists. Also, the reviews included one from someone in the military and someone else working at Amazon – what do they have in common? They have to keep their hair contained. So, they’re not frivolous.

Thinking, reading and journaling about what is going on in our world. Trying to tune into/ understand the big picture – now and into the future. The timing of this on the latter part of Covid19, is this the timing because many people united during the initial phases of the pandemic? It’s a lot, I think it’s important.

Carrying on with all the physical, relational and other activities today brings.

You are very right, I need to grab that board from my parents’ house! Beck will love it:). There really is so much going on right now. I think spending time thinking, reading and journaling is so healthy as we try to figure this all out. It is so heavy.
I hope you have a beautiful day, Lee.

Reply

Oh, I also keep thinking Beck is ready for Grandpa’s hardware board. He’s cruising right along.

Reply

Love that you started the book!!! Please let me know what you think. As I said, I’m now watching the series on Hulu…it is good but obviously, the book is better!

Reply

Thank you so much for the recommendation! Let’s do a book club!

Reply

Yes! Ironically today was my local library book club meeting and to discuss ‘Miseducated’ through zoom. The author Brandon Fleming was present and answered questions. It is a memoir–excellent. Last month’s club meeting was for the book, ‘In Search of April Raintree’…also excellent memoir

No way! That is awesome! I’ll have to read both next!!

Ran all three legs of Hood to Coast Friday / today. AND ran them faster than predicted!! Now, I’m off to bed! Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Reply

Ahhhhh you are incredible! Huge congrats and way to go surprising yourself! Recover well!

Hi! I love seeing your kiddos beautiful smiles!! I did 18 miles today and spent the rest of the weekend getting ready for back to school this week! I teach first grade and my own boys will both be in high school this year! I had a product question… did you still use the rapid reboot recovery boots? I’m training for my first ultra and am considering a purchase but they are $$$! Would love to hear your thoughts. Have a great week!

Reply

HEY JAMIE! Way to go on your 18 miler, you are incredible. I hope this first week of school goes really well. First grade… what a blast! I use them when I am in heavy training A TON! I am lazy when I don’t really have goals but when I am really working towards something I used them 2-3 times a week and I really can say they made a difference. I wish I had a discount code or something to give you. I really recommend them and loved using mine for ultra training… so much recovery needed. Please keep me updated with it all. Good luck tomorrow!

Reply

Hey Janae, I love your blog! My husband and I are in need of new running shoes and are interested in trying Brooks (we’ve been ASICS wearers for a long time). Do you have a Brooks discount code?
Thanks,
Stacey

Reply

Hey Stacey!!! I am thrilled that you guys are wanting to check out Brooks! You are going to love them. I realllllllly wish I had a code to share. I’m so sorry! But it’s always fun to try out the previous models of shoes that are usually discounted a lot! Good luck and let me know what you think!

Thanks,Janae! Appreciate you getting back to me so quickly.
BTW, you’ll love Nine Perfect Strangers!
Take care,
Stacey

I just discovered Nine Perfect Strangers on Hulu last week. I really enjoyed the mini series of Big Little Lies. I haven’t read the books, but so far enjoying the series so maybe I should eventually read the book.

I think spending time thinking, reading and journaling is so healthy as we try to figure this all out. It is so heavy.
