After school yesterday we had the kids all change into their pajamas and pretend they were asleep so that we could wake them up and pretend it was Christmas morning ha.  Beck was very confused by my instructions so he just laid there with his eyes open.

We started things off with hot chocolate.

And I made my favorite cinnamon rolls  while the kids were at school so that we could eat those for our ‘breakfast.’

From there we went straight to present opening.

Knox was super excited to get a guitar.

And Brooke has wanted this camera for a very long time.

My favorite gift that I gave myself was a 20 minute nap on the couch with the sunlight on my face.

We watched Elf together with popcorn.

It was a really good day.

PS have you ever seen cuter socks?  My neighbor brought us baby Stance socks so Beck is very fashionable.

I have *never* seen cuter socks! I have also NEVER seen such a cute little elf! Beck looks like the little ole elf watching over all the sleepy children.

My hubby is coming home today!!!! When Baxton found out he got approval the sheer joy that exploded out of this child caused global warming! He’ll arrive tonight and be home for FIVE weeks so it will be a very Merry Christmas indeed! And then I look forward to daily outdoor runs while I have another adult in the home :)

Haha he really does look like a little elf now that you say it:) I am SO thrilled that your husband will be home today. Five weeks, this is the best gift ever. Enjoy every second and all of those outdoor runs! Thanks Tonya for sharing.

Aww sooo sweet! Glad you got to do all your traditions!

We had our first snow of the season in Baltimore yesterday, it was so pretty. The snowflakes were HUGE! My desk faces a window so I could watch all day while working from home.

Reply

Thank you so much Mariah, it was such a great day. YAY for getting snow… just in time for the holidays:) I bet it was gorgeous and peaceful to watch the snow fall all day! Enjoy the rest of your day, Mariah.

That’s great that you and Andrew were still able to make it a special Christmas for the kids even though you won’t have them Christmas morning. Will you and Andrew still open gifts together/celebrate on Christmas? Beck is changing his looks so much. He’s so bright in all the pictures

Ps- I bought a pair of ghosts after your recommendation and they fit like a dream. Don’t think I can ever wear anything but Brooks now :) haha. It’s been so cold here lately (-20) today so I’ll be running on the treadmill this weekend!

Reply

Thank you Ashlea! It really was a great day! Andrew will be working on Christmas so we will after his shift:) I am SO happy to to hear that you love the Ghosts. I understand what you are saying… once you start, you can never stop when it comes to Brooks. NEGATIVE TWENTY! I hope you drink all of the hot chocolate this weekend and enjoy those treadmill runs.

That sounds like SO MUCH FUN! The only thing better than Christmas is TWO Christmases! I know how hard it must be to fit everything in with all the different schedules, but you made it happen. Have a great day Janae!

Reply

Thank you so much Jenny and they sure do hit the jackpot with getting to celebrate their birthdays and Christmas twice:) Enjoy your day Jenny!

Sounds like a great Christmas celebration to me! Also Beck’s going to have to get on board with celebrating holidays on different days. I know he’s only 6 weeks old but come out little guy… ;)

Something about me?! Hmm… I think that the proper way to eat chili is over pasta and will fight anyone who says otherwise. No I won’t actually fight you but I will challenge them to a taste test lol

Reply

Thank you so much Maureen and you are so right ha… come on Beck! Now I MUST try chili over pasta. Pasta makes everything better so I think you are brilliant. Hope you are having a great afternoon Maureen!

What a fun day! The 4 kids “sleeping” is so sweet! It’s great that you are still getting in traditions with everyone before the big 2 have to leave.
Off to meet my running friends for an early run ?

Idea… put the Santa socks away with the Christmas ornaments, tied together with a note.. Beck 2020
Next year they are an ornament

Reply

Okay, that is the best idea! I love that idea, thank you so much Tricia and I hope your day is a great one.

Hahahaha Beck wide awake in that pic! Too cute.
I have one of those Polaroid’s from forever ago and last year I brought it out for the kids!! Good reminder I should get some more of the film. They are sooo fun!

Reply

Hahah he looked like that at 3 am this morning too;) They really are, I think I need one for me now too. Have a beautiful day Mollie!

Today is my last day of work for a week! Excited to make cookies and watch movies with my kids. But first-where are those pajamas from?? Too cute!

What a lovely christmas!

I have the exact same camera as Brooke and I love it :) It’s a great way to make memories, and if you bring it to a wedding or a birthday party you can make the cutest little DIY souvenir albums.

I am very much looking forward to christmas with my family – we’re doing a forest christmas because of Covid restrictions in our country. But I think it will be lovely, we’ll have a little fire and drink mulled wine and eat lots of buttery christmas biscuits :)

Sending lots of love from Bern

Thank you so much Sarah! That is such a great idea to bring the camera to an event like that, so fun. Forest Christmas… that sounds incredible. Enjoy every second. Thanks Sarah and sending love back to you too!

So many heart melting pictures in this post.
Your family is proof that Holiday is not about a date, but the joy of celebrating together.
Keep giving yourself that 20 minute gift.

Reply

Thank you so much Erica. You really are so right, it’s all about spending time together! Thank you and I think I’ll double my gift for today;) I hope you have the BEST Christmas break this year.

Reply

Since Beck doesn’t really sleep all night…. I’d say the pic is pretty accurate. :-D.
They are all beyond adorable

Reply

Bahaha so true… he stayed in character for the scene:) Thank you so much Melly and I hope you are having a great day!

I love how creative you are with making the holiday special not matter the day. I think I need to make some cinnamon rolls this weekend.
My neighbor gave me homemade chocolate chips cookies yesterday. I ate one for breakfast.

Reply

Thank you so much Samantha! I hope you love the cinnamon rolls, they are so good and cookies for breakfast sounds perfect to me. Have a great day, Samantha!

You seriously have to crop and frame that photo of Knox and Beck!!! It’s soooooo sweet!!!

Looks like you had an amazing afternoon!!! My daughter has that camera and LOVES it. She makes all sorts of fun photos and hangs them up. The photo accessories make great follow up bday/easter/etc gifts, too.

Please record Knox playing a song and being a rockstar. I foresee Beck being a very attentive audience.

Enjoy the rest of your day!!

Now I really want a cinnamon roll! And that hasn’t been a tradition in our house… maybe we will start! What a beautiful experience for all of you. We are getting homemade mini eggnog panettone bread puddings ready for our holiday celebration with family. It is yummy! Happy holidays to all of you!

Reply

So will you get Knox guitar lessons?
Random question but since he and Brooke has two families for bday and Christmas – do you all correspond about what you’re getting the kids so it’s different

Reply

We had the lasagna soup last night and my husband raved about it! He shared pictures with several friends who all asked for the recipe!! Have Brooke drink Welch’s grape juice and she won’t get those sores on her mouth. One glass a day should do the trick!

Reply

I love that you keep the tradition going even while the kids won’t be there on the actual day. I so love your attitude, your kids must feel so loved!

Tell me something about you or your week or your latest run or what you are looking forward to?
– This week has been chaos at work! I work at a hospital and being closed for the public holidays makes everything so busy! But almost weekend…
– My latest run was pretty average, I run home once a week and while it was nice to get out of my head for a bit, I struggled even with a slow pace.. Oh well… A run is a run!
– Looking forward to the weekend! It’s summer here in Perth and the forecast for the weekend is warm and sunny! I’m meeting a friend at Parkrun tomorrow morning and will go to the beach afterwards!

Have a great weekend Janae!

Hey Janae! Been meaning to comment for a while but been lazy, though I’ve been following your posts here and on IG. congrats again on Beck :)
Tomorrow I am accompanying a friend on part of his coast to coast trail run in Singapore. Don’t be fooled by the name, it’s all tarmac and we’re a tiny country so the entire trail is only about 36km and I’m joining him for about 20+km of it.
Re your previous post, I know exactly what you mean about needing to get outside. I need to too! Glad you did it.
Things are more stable here re COVID and it looks like you guys aren’t doing too badly either. Take care and thanks for sharing about the early Christmas celebration.

Hey Chloe! Thank you so much. I hope you have the best time tomorrow with your friend and that race sounds incredible… I would love to do that someday! So happy that things are going better in Singapore. Thank you so much and I hope you have a beautiful day!
