Such an important topic from Alexi Pappas. We must take care of our mental health just like we take care of our physical health.

That’s so fun you got to go see Santa! Those cookies look SO good . . . chocolate and peppermint is my favorite. Maybe I will try to replicate those at home.

Not sure about my favorite Christmas MOVIE, but I love going back and rewatching all the Christmas episodes from my favorite TV shows. It feels so cozy!

I just listened to Gracie Gold on the Real Pod podcast–she talked about her experience as an Olympic figure skater, her struggle with an eating disorder and depression, and how people around her reacted to it. She does such a good job talking about it, and I think it’s so important for us to have these conversations and have empathy when people are struggling. So glad it’s being talked about more now.

Let me know if you find a good recipe for replicating them… they are my FAVORITE! I’m with you, rewatching Christmas episodes is my favorite too. I will definitely add that podcast to my list, thank you so much for sharing. I can’t even imagine what these athletes go through and I’m with you, so glad they are sharing and opening up. Have a great day Kristin!

My love language is is quality time and words of affirmation!
Those lights are beautiful. I wish we had something here like that. So pretty!

Do you mind sharing your boots that you are wearing with Santa? Thanks :)

Oh I love words of affirmation too:). Yes of course, I love these boots SO MUCH!

I’ve never been sure about the love languages for me – I always have a very hard time pigeon-holing myself into a category. I suppose I’d be acts of service for receiving, and words of affirmation for giving?
It’s A Wonderful Life is my favorite Christmas movie – I take away something new each year I watch it.
My favorite tradition is the Christmas Eve candlelight service at my church. I play the organ, and the view I have from the front of the sanctuary is beautiful. The hymns we sing are so incredible in that setting, on that night, it’s such a special service. The service usually ends right at midnight, so it’s nice to wish everyone a Merry Christmas as we leave :)

That is a good point, I’m sure we all go through times where different love languages mean more than others. I need to watch It’s A Wonderful Life with Brooke, she would love it. Your favorite tradition gave me goosebumps, that sounds incredible. Will you be able to do it this year? Have a wonderful day, Amanda!

We are having the service Christmas Eve. We’ve been meeting for in-person worship too since September. Attendance is down, and thankfully those that do choose to attend socially distance and most wear masks. I’ve often thought about if my husband and I didn’t have the leadership roles we do in our congregation, would we still attend at this time? I think we would, just probably not as often. Choosing whether or not to come to church is a decision I’m actually thankful I haven’t had to make. I am also fortunate to be younger-ish? (just turned 40 – ha) and to be in good health. I am fearful for our elderly congregation members who attend and aren’t masking. :(

Elf and The Santa Clause!

Also, did you see Taylor Swift is releasing ANOTHER new album tonight?!?!?!?! And a new music video!! TSwift is helping me through 2020 with new music and I LOVE it.

Reply

Both are classics. NO WAY… I had no idea that she was! She is getting us through 2020, that is for sure. I hope your day is off to a fabulous start!

The Santa Clause (all 3) and The Grinch (2000 version) are my favorites!!! I watch them over and over and over all throughout the season!

We are not seeing our extended families for christmas this year so on Christmas eve we will be making a lasagna and greek salad and watching christmas movies in christmas jammies. Christmas morning we will go to my moms (in our jammies) as we all coordinated the same ones this year!

My love language is cooking or cleaning for me :) haha. I cant belive Beck is already 5 weeks old!!! Happy Holidays to your family!

The Santa Clause (the first one) is Brooke’s favorite Christmas movie! I love them too! Your Christmas plans sound perfect to me and I might need you to send me some of that lasagna. I hope your husband does some cooking and cleaning for you this month:). Thanks Stephanie and the same to you!

How does the Suss cookie compare with the Sodalicious one? Also, get a heated blanket for your bed. I don’t leave it on all night, just pre-heat with it, and it is heavenly! Like getting into a warm bath. But your heated mattress cover may work the same way. I think heat is my love language too! Like when my hubby turns on the seat warmers in the car for me, that’s true love!

Reply

I still think the sodalicious one is the best but the Suss one was delicious! Yes to the seat heaters ❤️ And I need that blanket! Have a great day!

My husband bought me a heated mattress cover (with dual sided temperature controls) for my birthday a few years ago. Best gift ever! Loving all the pictures of Beck.

Reply

Now I am going to add that to my Christmas list… SUCH a good idea. Thank you Michelle and I hope your day is off to a great start!

Reply

Yes, Michelle, I agree! I put an electric blanket under my mattress cover (so basically the same as you) and it is the best thing ever! I turn it on high until I get in and then turn it off to sleep. It might be my favorite part of the day :)

Hi Janae! My favorite love language to receive is quality time and to give is acts of service. I usually send holiday cards every year and this year I started watercolor painting during the quarantine so I have homemade cards to send! I’ll also be making cookies to distribute. I can’t believe Beck is five weeks already, time sure flies in some ways! Have a great day!

Reply

HOMEMADE CARDS TO SEND… Amy, that is SO so special. Your family/friends are so lucky. It really is going by too quickly. Thank you, you too friend!

My love language is Acts of Service and Quality Time – to receive and to give.

I can’t pick just one favorite Christmas movie! I love too many of them: Elf, The Santa Clause, Christmas with the Kranks, Home Alone (1 & 2), Grinch (all of them), Scrooged, The Preacher’s Wife, Christmas Vacation, Muppets Christmas Carol, While You Were Sleeping, A Christmas Story, Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas…

I’m looking forward to going to look at lights, continue opening our Christmas book a night, and making Santa’s favorite brownies and kringla.

One quote I saw recently that I’m trying to remember “Today is a good day to have a good day” – also being one day closer the weekend helps!!

So many Xmas movies to choose from! If I had to choose, I love Home Alone…but National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation would probably be my top choice – has a little bit of everything in that movie!

No special holiday traditions this year, unable to travel to see family this year and we are restricted to no social gatherings. So it’ll be a quiet, lonely one. But, on the positive side, it’ll be nice to have a couple of days off of a hectic work schedule to watch some Xmas movies and sleep :)

Reply

Love Home Alone (and the 2nd one, too!) But my favorites are “While you were Sleeping” (Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman) and “I’ll be home for Christmas” (JTT and Jessica Biel). Hope you get to watch all your favorites!

Reply

I love to give time, baking and money to those in need. The movie “Love Actually” gets me every time. And sadly I am not able to have the airport scene where I hug my mom this year :(. But if staying apart means staying healthy it is worth it.

Going to have a new tradition of not letting the holidays be about material things but about hope, being active and some new treats. And some wishes for 2021 to include a lot of HUGS!!!

All the best to you and yours.
