I haven’t run with both of these girls in what feels like 10 years. I was so excited that our schedules all worked out yesterday (and that they were willing to run 3 minutes per mile slower than they normally do:) so we could run together.
We met at my favorite canyon in the world. In 2019 we ran 100s of miles together in this canyon and worked so hard to get faster so it brought back some amazing memories being there yesterday.
The first thing I did when I got back in the car (besides turn it on) when we finished was turn on my seat heater. One major positive about the temperatures dropping is that it motivates me to shower right after a run and not procrastinate it ha so I did that right when I got home.
Turns out I need to dust my car:)
Matching running socks are overrated;) At least they were both the same color.
Skye and I attempted to get in some preschooling and her attention span lasted about 38 seconds per activity but she had to have learned a thing or two at least.
What started as ‘I need to find some of my warmer winter running clothes’ turned quickly into reorganizing my entire closet. I found some pretty exciting things in there like this hooded blanket from the St. George Marathon.
Welcome to my office and the only chair I want to sit in for the next few (I can say few now that we are a little less than 6 right?) weeks…
My mom sent me this idea;)
Jenn (running friend in top picture) dropped off the most amazing apple cake for us and it tastes even better than an apple fritter.
We finished off the day with a walk with Beretta and then Andrew and I watched Miracle Landing on the Hudson on Disney+.
Just a quick rewind to Monday night… Andrew had some family in town and they invited us up to Sundance to ride the lift.
His family took us to dinner afterwards to a place called The Corner in Midway and if you are ever in that area, you HAVE to go there and eat on the patio. The meal was amazing but the desserts were unreal. Andrew and I were going to share a piece of coconut cream pie but then when we tried it, we had to get another because we were fighting over it;)
After dinner we went to Andrew’s aunt’s house. Every square inch of their main floor is decorated for Halloween and it made me realize that Andrew’s love for Halloween runs in his DNA.
Andrew’s aunt has a new kitten that she adopted and Brooke was in pure heaven playing with it (and she had tears in her eyes when she had to say goodbye to it… we will be back often to visit:).

If you had to choose only one place to run for the rest of your life… where would it be?
-The above picture where we went running yesterday.
Are you more of a dog person or a cat person?
Is your closet usually organized or unorganized?
-Mine is usually unorganized but I’m sure going to enjoy how organized it is now for the next few days;)
Are your socks always matching or does it not bother you to wear mismatched socks? What running socks have you been loving lately?

My closet is usually organized- and I just watched the Home Edit on Netflix and it makes me want to organize everything! The way they organize kitchens/pantry is amazing.
Socks need to be matching! It probably doesn’t make a difference, but I can’t wear mismatched socks haha.
The Hungry Runner Girl
Seriously… I could look at super organized pictures of kitchens and pantries all day! That show is so so good. Have a wonderful day Mariah!
Mary
Dog person for sure!! Can’t get into cats.
Closet is always unorganized! And I’m scared to the do thing where you take everything out to organize it. That sounds too daunting. How did you do yours and did it take hours? A hooded blanket is a nice find – that’s a neat souvenir that’s different than a shirt.
The Hungry Runner Girl
It definitely took me a few hours yesterday ha but it was so needed! I totally agree, I love it when races switch things up. Have the best day Mary!

My closet is fairly organized, except for the shoes on the floor. I have got to figure out a better system for my shoes! I will keep them super organized for a week or so, then I go right back to just kicking my shoes off into the closet… Uuugggg
We have cats and dogs at our house. Love them both, but they are very different for sure! When our 2 cats are running crazy through the house, it sort of freaks out the dog so then he just sits nexts to me and whines… Ha ha
Oh man, just one place to run?? I would definitely be torn! I love running at the beach, I love our local trail, but I also love a particular trail in Colorado too! That is a really tough decision.
Funny or strange thing here… Yesterday when I got up for my run, it was super foggy! I love running in the fog like that, especially on the trail. It felt more like fall, and it was hard to believe in that moment, that the high for the day was 100°… Weird little tangent ?
Have a good day Janae.
The Hungry Runner Girl
Let me know what you find out about how to organize your shoes better… I’m right there with you! Brooke is beyond jealous that you have both cats and dogs at your house. I need to come on a run with you on the beach, that sounds amazing. I totally agree with you on those foggy runs, they are so fun (but can’t believe your temps!!). Thanks Wendy, you too.

Um by your pictures I would say Utah would be the place I would choose to run in for the rest of my life! Haha. Or San Diego (I miss the running there so much) or Bend, Oregon!
Running with friends is the ABSOLUTE best.
I’ve been really liking stance socks! I like the high socks and I feel like those stay put the best. Or feetures. My high socks always match when I wear them, but my no show or low socks don’t haha.
We built a custom closet (like we actually did it ourselves, which was not easy haha) in our house in Charleston when we were living there and it was the BEST. It was always organized and I loved having a “display” for shoes. Our house in Virginia Beach has really old closets and terrible storage, but I try to keep it organized. I have bins of race stuff though that I really need to go through. I doubt I’ll ever find a use for a bright orange XXL 5k shirt….
The Hungry Runner Girl
Choose Utah please! Oh I bet that was hard to leave your Charleston closet! I hold onto so many random pieces that I never use too. I’m the same way with what socks I make sure to match and which ones I don’t care about ha. Have a great day Mollie.

LOVE that chair! Can you share details, please! Thank you!

Yes! We love it! Here is the link:

If that apple cake is better than an apple fritter (which I know you love!), your friend should do a good deed for us all and let you share the recipe! Please :)
I’m definitely a dog person – honestly not sure what I did or how I would’ve made it few those tough months at the beginning of the year without her.
One place to run for the rest of my life might just be in Old City in Philadelphia! Assuming you could get rid of the stop lights and traffic ;)
The Hungry Runner Girl
Yes! You are going to love it: https://smittenkitchen.com/2008/09/moms-apple-cake/
I want to come on a run with you there. I’m so glad you’ve had your dog this year… they are just the best! Have a beautiful day Maureen!
Jennie Stevens
Where did you get your recliner? Love it!
The Hungry Runner Girl
Hey Jennie! I hope you love it too.

Victoria
That apple cake looks like a perfect pre-run snack, just saying. I want to make it!
The Hungry Runner Girl
Your predictions are correct… it was perfect before the run. Let me know if you try it. Have the best day Victoria and I definitely know your opinion on dog vs cat!
Erika
My socks have to be matching. My daughter, 4, loves to wear mis-matched socks so then when I fold laundry I can never pair them up and end up just throwing them all in her drawer.
I am loving the Swiftwick socks you recommended!
The Hungry Runner Girl
Hahaha I think your daughter already knows one way to test you a bit with those mismatched socks;) SWIFTWICK ARE THE BEST and I am so glad you are loving them.
jenny
Have you seen The Home Edit on Netflix? They give the best solutions to closet organization! And they’re pretty funny too :)
I think if I could run anywhere for the rest of my life it would be on localish trails @ Tiger Mountain! The trail system is SO massive that depending where you are on the mountain, you have views of all of our local mountain ranges, Puget Sound, Seattle & Bellevue. Sunrises and sunsets are AMAZE. The trails are super lush and lined with bright greenery. And bonus… the bears and other wildlife don’t seem to care much about people!
I’m a cat person by default. I grew up with them and always seem to have them around!
My closets are THE HOTTEST mess ever. They’re so embarrassing!!!!
My two most favorite socks are ones with tacos all over them and my other pair has bigfoot riding a bicycle in the woods! They’ve replaced my doughnut socks (for the time being). And yes, they have to match!
Have a great day!
The Hungry Runner Girl
That show is the BEST!! I need to watch less of it and organize more and I agree, they are so funny. Can I come run on those trails with you someday, they sound amazing! Glad the bears leave everyone alone:) I need your fun socks. Thanks Jenny, you too!
Kathy McElhaney
There are way too many beautiful places to run to just pick one! I miss running in Hawaii so much – it’s so warm and humid, but the views are always amazing. I’m jealous that you’re pulling out winter clothes – it was 85 at 6:00 this morning in So Cal.
Definitely a dog person!
My socks use to have to match. Then one morning I got dressed in the dark and wore mismatched socks (same style, different colors.) I headed out for intervals and had the BEST workout! I decided mismatched socks were lucky ;)
The Hungry Runner Girl
Hey Kathy, I can’t imagine how much you guys are missing Hawaii this year! Come run with me in Utah, our temps were half of that this morning! I’m going to think about that luck each time I wear a pair of mismatched socks on a run:) Have a really great day Kathy.

Hi Janae! Isn’t organizing clothes the best feeling? I love going through clothes or putting laundry away more than doing any other type of organizing (looking at you, paperwork). I like both cats and dogs but I think dogs generally like me more so that is encouraging. I can’t stand mismatched socks, my college roommate was the opposite and she used to mess hers up on purpose! Happy hump day!!
The Hungry Runner Girl
Hey Amy! It seriously is… each time I go into my closet now it feels so peaceful:) Mess hers up on purpose haha… I haven’t gone that far at least! Thanks so much Amy (and thanks for reminding me it was Wednesday, I thought it was Thursday for a second) and I hope you are having a beautiful day!

– One place only to run –> the city open space park just south of me because it has trails, bike path, hills, river bottom, open space, swim beach, and lakes…always options.
– I don’t think I could decide between cats and dogs…I’ve had great ones of both and so-so ones of both.
– Closets are usually organized…but not always the floor next to my bed (honesty to make anyone with a cluttered closet feel better)
– My socks usually match but not always. When the toe or heel gives out on one in a pair, I toss it and then match the left over sock with a loner from another pair (aka cheapskate). There was a time in my life when I couldn’t do that…it would have driven me CRAZY…but then I had kids and who has time for that level of detail anymore? Reasonably clean = win. Reasonably matched = win (I couldn’t pair an ankle sock and a crew sock, for instance, but ankle socks of different colors are fine) . Put ’em on and get moving.
The Hungry Runner Girl
Okay, that city open space sounds perfect! I hope you are able to run down there often. My floor next to my bed gets messy too! Haha I think you are so right, kids have changed me too when it comes to stuff like that. Thanks for making me laugh and I hope you have the best day!
Corrinne Wilson
The fact that your running socks don’t match is giving me major anxiety. Do they feel the same? Mismatched stuff just drives me crazy. I am totally making that Apple cake, it looks so good. If I could run in Maui along the beach forever then that would be amazing. However I’m stuck in Illinois looking at cornfields. I have both a dog and a cat and my dog is a way better cuddler. The cat is a biter! My closet is fairly organized but needs a little help every so often
The Hungry Runner Girl
Hahah well I usually try to get similar socks at least but sometimes they do feel a bit different. I need you to teach me how to be better about not mismatching! I’ll join you on those Maui runs and you have to let me know what you think about the apple cake! Brooke is jealous that you have a cat and a dog… that is her dream now (along with a horse;). Have the best day Corrinne!
Sloan
If I could only run in one place, it would definitely be Boone, NC. The mountains are just amazing. I’d be willing to climb that every day for the views.
I have a cat and my brother has a dog so we balance out the whole cat and dog thing. Cats are much easier to take care of though!
The Hungry Runner Girl
Can I come join you in those mountains… they sound magical! VERY true about cats, Brooke is telling us that we really need to get one but I just don’t know how Beretta would do with it! Have the best day Sloan.
Laura
I feel like you’ve shared it before but can you link the sweatshirt you’re wearing in the photo with Skye and in the recliner? I’m pregnant and starting to shop for some cozy maternity clothes and that sweatshirt looks amazing :)
The Hungry Runner Girl
Hey Laura! Yes, I love this sweatshirt so much. It isn’t maternity but it works great for maternity since it is so long. Congrats to you and I hope you love it too!

Running in the mountains and Sundance look so beautiful! Your family is soooo cute.
The one place I could run is Leadville, CO the 10,000 ft would kill me but I just love the trails there so much.
My (and my kids) closet(s) are the only place in the house that is always organized. No idea why, I wish the rest of my house would fall in line LOL.
Shana
We ate at the corner last weekend for a girls getaway and it is amazing! I’m loving this time of year and running outside right now is heavenly. When I saw your St. George gear it made me sad. We are going to St. George tomorrow even though the marathon got canceled. We already had our condo booked so we decided to go for a long weekend anyway. I’m so sad about everything being canceled. 2020 has been crazy!
Yoriko
Hello Janae!
I’m a cat person and have three cats myself.
The only thing I complain about my cats is that they don’t run with me like your beautiful dog Beretta :-)

You were in my neck of the woods… Love The Corner!
There are lots of great restaurants here. Have you tried Lola’s Street Kitchen? Just down the street from the Corner. Try it! You won’t regret it.
The Hungry Runner Girl
I don’t know if I can be in Midway and not eat at The Corner now hahaa… but I am going to take your word for it and try Lola’s Street Kitchen next. Thanks Jan, you live in the most gorgeous area!
