It Arrived + Friday Favorites!

Just a very large pile of dirt in front of our house… we’ll get to why that happened in just a minute.

I came back from a run with blue lips and Skye was apparently warm enough to be playing in the dirt in just her underwear (with Andrew out there with them too).

Our day mostly consisted of this:

IMG 2266

We ordered a large amount of mulch but they accidentally delivered us top soil.  Luckily, they brought the mulch over soon after and a lot of neighbors in our area needed top soil and picked it up from us so it was a win win.  The kids were very sad when the dirt was gone because they had a blast playing in it.

In the early afternoon we had the fighter jets fly by and it was incredible.  It made Andrew’s month, that is for sure.

IMG 2286

Later on in the afternoon we had our chicken coop delivered to us!  Skye is positive it is a playhouse for her too.

IMG 2295

Our chickens are very happy to have a new home.

IMG 2297

For dinner we made pizza together as a family with TJ’s pizza dough and sauce.  The girls all love cheese and the boys love pepperoni.

I have some favorite things to share this morning!

*Canopy Jacket!  I know that things are warming up right now but I am LOVING the Canopy jacket.  It is lightweight, super flexible, you don’t even notice you are wearing it and I love the color.  It’s on sale (50% off!) right now too just in case you want to get something for next fall.  I want it in every color now because it is the perfect top layer.

*Next time you have the chance to buy this Artichoke & Jalepeño dip at TJ’s please do it right away.   We love it with their pretzel slims and I just wish the tub of it was much bigger.

IMG 2230

Even Skye can’t get enough of it… This girl loves a little bit of spice.

IMG 2231

*If you are looking for a fun craft idea—> Tie-Dye kits are all the rage right now at my house.  They have brought a lot of happiness to the kids.

IMG 1970

*A friend of mine that is an esthetician recommended this stuff to me for breakouts and I LOVE IT so much.  I use it as a mask once a week and then whenever I have new zits pop up I just put a little bit on the zit before I go to bed and then in the morning it is so much better.

*Unstoppable on Netflix.  This movie about Bethany Hamilton was incredible and her story will always inspire me.

*It’s MAY!

May is by far my favorite month! Though today is raw and pouring rain and we really don’t have leaves on the trees yet, but I know it’s coming!

I love May so much I got married in May – 15 years later this month!!!!! Though we got married in Vermont and it was a cold spring like this one so the leaves weren’t really out then either but it was perfect. And then we spent 2 weeks in Hawaii and have been dreaming about going back ever since.

This weekend is supposed to be better but we really don’t have any plans :( All thé open spaces that are open get filled up pretty quickly, but even going for a drive is exciting for us right now!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Reply

Hey Jessey! Happy anniversary month and favorite month! 15 years ❤️❤️ I hope you guys get back to Hawaii someday! Enjoy that drive and the better weather. Thank you, you too!

I would eat that dip with a spoon! Yummmm
I will never understand your weather. One post your playing in a pool, the next you have blue lips. ?
The chicks have gotten so big! Do they still allow the kids to hold them?

Reply

Hahaha I won’t either! It’s a guessing game here with the weather. They do still let the kids hold them but they really like to stand on their hands/arms while the kids walk around. Brooke has really trained her chicken ‘Ginger’ to hang out with her and it’s really cute. I need to post a video! I hope you have a beautiful day Deb and it’s so good to hear about your love for that dip too.

OMG I read canopy jacket as crappy jacket and was really confused on the company name lol. Oops!!

I wish you had posted about that artichoke and jalapeno dip last Friday before I went to Trader Joe’s. I’ve debated picking it up but don’t know anyone who has tried it so I wasn’t sure the taste. Also Trader Joe’s has the best pizza dough. Try the garlic and herb one. At least I think that’s what it’s called. Not exactly sure but it’s SO GOOD! It gives such a lightly herby flavor that just enhances your pizza. It’s in the refrigerated section in case you’re wondering. I know they have shelf stable and the fresh doughs so I wanted to call it out

Bahaha we would definitely have to talk to Brooks if they were naming things like that! I was too late to tell you about the dip… no! Next time you are there you have to get it! Oh and I love that dough but the kids are all about keeping it plain… next time I’ll get it for me and Andrew’s pizza! Thanks for reminding me about how good it is. Have a great weekend, Maureen!

Sulfur masks are THE BEST. I’ve been using one for like 15 years now and I LOVE the spot treatment trick. It dries those zits right up.

Reply

Yes!!! How did you not tell me about them sooner?. I kid! Hope you have a great day and a Swedish Fish fueled ride this weekend.

Reply

Boy, a huge pile of dirt and then a chicken coop? You have the funnest house on the block! Your kids are lucky!

Reply

Hahaha meanwhile Andrew and I are exhausted ha. Have a great weekend Jenny!!

One more weekend of hanging around the house for me, but NEXT weekend the Great Smoky Mountains National Park opens back up and I AM THERE! It’s right in my backyard and we’ve been missing out on prime hiking season. I can’t wait to get back on those trails!!

This made me smile SO so big! Ahhh you are going to enjoy every second. You are so close. Thanks for sharing, Tracy!

My husband and my 23rd wedding anniversary is May 10, which is also Mother’s day. We’d normally go out to eat but my daughter actually offered to make dinner with my son (my son rolled his eyes and groaned when she made the offer….so we will see what happens).

Reply

Hahah oh the rolling of eyes! So sweet that your daughter already offered to do that! What a sweetheart. Happy anniversary soon and I hope you have a great weekend, Allison!

Reply

Hi Allison,
My first wedding anniversary will be May 10th. We did a destination wedding last year. So glad we were able to do that.

Reply

Oh I LOVE that dip! I have been wanting to go to TJ’s, so now I definitely will today.
Your chicken coop is so cute! The chickens will be very happy in there. Skye probably will be too…ha.
We don’t have much planned for the weekend. More yard work, and a good long run or two.
Have a great Friday ?

Reply

I hope your long runs are great this weekend and that hopefully you get to do it near the ocean! Enjoy your tj’s trip and we’ll be doing the yard work thing all weekend too! Happy weekend, Wendy!

Reply

Oh man, that is some mixup!!! I’m glad you were able to pass the dirt off to someone else!!! Also, aren’t kids amazing in dealing with cooler weather while we’re freezing?!?!! I swear my kids never have clothes on and I’m wearing 10 layers!

Reply

Yes yes yes! I don’t understand. I swear they all get it from Andrew haha. Have a wonderful weekend Kristin!

I love Friday Favorites – thank you! Just ordered my half price Canopy Jacket :) Yay for sales!!

This makes me so happy! You are going to love it. Have a great weekend Andrea!

Love that you have chickens! I have 8 at my house now, and they are a lot of fun. We’ve been enjoying their eggs for months now.

I have two birthdays in May to celebrate … my birthday is this Sunday and my fiance’s is the following Sunday (the 10th). Trying to think of a way to make our days a little brighter despite the current state of affairs … just hoping for decent weather really! New York has had some pretty crappy weather lately … I hope that means that the flowers will bloom like crazy this month! ;)

Reply

Happy birthday in two days! I love that you and your fiancé’s bdays are so close together! Let me know how you guys celebrate and I’m really hoping that you get some sunshine and gorgeous flowers. Thanks Stacey!

I love Differin gel for nighttime and it’s over the counter now! Also anything CeraVe.

I am looking forward to 16 miles in a tank and shorts tomorrow!!!

May is a special month in our family. My son’s heart transplant anniversary is this month! He is almost 18 months now.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Reply

Wow, May is a very special month for you and your family! I am so happy that everything has gone so well!

I didn’t know Differin was over the counter now, I used to love that stuff so I’m going to get it again now, thank you. You are going to rock those 16 miles, enjoy. Thanks Taylor!

I love Bare Minerals toner! My face looks so much “brighter.”

We got a pop-up camper, so I am looking forward to sleeping outside. Plus we can figure out what we need/want to have when we can actually camp outside of our front yard;-)

We have my sons birthday (on Mothers’ day), my husband (Memorial Day weekend) and mother-in-laws birthday in May. I am hoping we can find some fun way to celebrate them all!

Reply

I definitely want to try that toner! I am thrilled about your pop-up camper! We want one so bad. Let me know what you guys think of it. Have so much fun with all of the celebrating this month and good luck getting creative. Happy weekend Becky!

Where is your chicken coop from? It’s the most beautiful coop I’ve ever seen!

Reply

Thank you! I love it too! Are you in Utah? We found a guy through KSL that makes them! If you are here I can send you his number. We are so happy with the work he did! Have a beautiful weekend, Kendra!

Reply

Yes! I’m in vineyard, by the golf course. It’s seriously the most beautiful coop I’ve ever seen ??! I’d love his information when you have some time, thanks!

Reply

Hey Kendra! His number is 801-649-8225! His name is David and he did an incredible job. I love how close we are to each other. Have a beautiful day:)

Hi Janae! Both my parents and my fiance have May birthdays! He is still stuck abroad though so hopefully he can get back before his birthday. This morning I was woken up by the smoke alarm battery low chirp multiple times so I gotta go hunt that down and them get some better sleep this weekend! Happy Friday!

Reply

You guys have a very busy month! Any updates on getting him home, this is so hard! I hope you are able to catch up on all of the sleep my friend. Happy weekend!

I recently discovered Olay Regenerist cream and really like it for nighttime. I don’t get pimples often, but have melasma and am trying to slow the wrinkles!
My husband and I got married in the courthouse May 2nd and then had a “pretend wedding” on May 3rd. We did it because we’re not religious, and wanted to save money. It worked great for our situation, and we have two anniversaries now :)

Reply

Two anniversaries! I love that and I hope you guys are able to find a fun way to celebrate this weekend. Sure hope you and those two little ones are doing well❤️ I always love hearing from you, Stacey!

May is a fun month for us! We have Mother’s day, my husband’s birthday, and my daughter turns two on May 28! Last year we have two big parties, one here in Denver and the other in St. Louis with our family. This year will definitely look different. My husband is very low-key for his birthday and never wants to do anything special. Hopefully we’ll at least be able to have a few of our close friends come by, we’ll see how it goes since everything keeps changing.
I would suggest, The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution and use it once a week. It makes my skin instantly brighter and smoother! Also be sure to NOT go over the 10 min limit.
We just tried the Life Affirming Nacho Dip from Oh She Glows (http://www.sunriseyogastudio.ca/2018/11/20/oh-she-glows-life-affirming-vegan-nacho-dip-recipe/) And it is amazing and would be awesome with pretzels too.
This weekend, we plan to do some yard work and going for a hike somewhere close by! It’ll be nice to really get out of the house!

Reply

You have an amazing month up ahead! Keep me updated on what you guys are able to do to celebrate, I really hope you get time with your people too! And 2… what an exciting time of life. So that recipe made me drool when I clicked on it which means I must make it soon:) Enjoy all of the sunshine and good luck with the yard work. Thanks Kathy.

We’ll be having dirt delivered in the next couple of weeks! Les has been working so hard on our yard since we can’t travel right now. He spends about 2-3 hours each morning before the Hawaii work day begins.

I love roasted red pepper hummus with sea salt and pepper Triscuit crackers.

Our 29th anniversary is this month – May 25th! This year’s vacation to Kauai was canceled. I really hope we’ll be able to take an epic trip next year to celebrate our 30th. We went to Europe for our 20th and 25th and Africa is at the top of my list now.

Reply

Hey Kathy! Oh wow, I bet your yard looks incredible. Happy almost 29th anniversary. I love your relationship and I hope you are able to go to the most amazing place for next year’s 30th. Have a great weekend.

Your chicken coop is amazing! I want chicks so bad!
This weekend I’m going with my sister to get her wedding dress fitted (I’ll be waiting in the car, but I’m still excited!) And then probably making pizza AGAIN. This is a silly question, but what do you do for lunch on pizza nights? I’ve become SO lazy with food the past week. I’ll literally have pizza for lunch and then the other half for dinner. It’s not a bad system but I’m getting a little pizzad-out. And just generally lacking lunch inspiration haha so I would love any of your suggestions!
Oh and I just discovered a moisturizer I love! My skin is super dry but really sensitive and this Burt’s Bees stuff is wonderful. It has SPF 15 but doesn’t feel greasy like other sunscreens/moisturizers. https://www.amazon.ca/Burts-Bees-Nourishment-Lotion-Ounces/dp/B01MXHNJCA

Hope you have a great weekend!

The picture of that dip made my mouth water. Seriously lol. I don’t have a TJs in my area but I would probably eat the whole thing within 24 hours.

Reply

What I was looking forward to, I did this morning. Run the edge is doing the un-cancelled project and I ran an 8k this morning.

Favorite dip: lemon dill hummus.

LOVE my DoTERRA essentials skin care line…I love coming home and taking my makeup off and washing my face! Best feeling!
TJ’s has an everything bagel seasoning Greek yogurt dip! I could eat it with a spoon! So so good!
Tonight is food truck Friday in our neighborhood and we have a gourmet french fry truck coming! Already pre-ordered!
And it’s not my birthday month but my hubs turns *40* on 5/31!!!!!!

Reply

I love seeing the Trader Joe’s stuff you are trying. We love going there. Our favorite dip is the Avocado Tzatziki dip they have especially with the pretzel slims. We also have made the best pizza with their pizza dough (especially the garlic herb one).

I got out for a 9 mile trail run this morning to enjoy the spring flowers and celebrate it being May!

Reply

You’re probably already told us this before, but where is your tank top from. I’m in need of new ones this year!

Reply

THANK YOU SO MUCH Janae for the Canopy Jacket mention on Brooks’ website! A lot of their stuff is 50% off and I was able to snag the jacket and 3 other cooler weather pieces for next season. I love their stuff and it’s such high quality, but I have to usually wait until it’s on sale. This is a BIG mark down and I appreciate you letting us know!
