When I was leaving for my run I decided to go into Brooke’s room to see if she wanted to join me… She kept me very entertained for my run.
Random running tangent that is longer than a sentence: Back in my early 20s I can remember rolling out of bed (I would sleep in my running clothes) and being out the door for a run within 5 minutes of waking up (sometimes while eating a banana during my first mile). These days, from the time I wake up to when I leave for my run is usually about 30 minutes. If I am running really really early then I can get out the door within 15-20 minutes!
SPRING IS HERE.
When I got home we all hung out outside for a while and then Andrew went mountain biking.
Brooke told us that she is training Ginger to ride on her shoulder while she rides her scooter around… She is going for a pirate look!
This quarantine has made her age fast… is she 5 now?!
Andrew picked up bread for us on his way home from mountain biking which made my week because I feel like I haven’t had Great Harvest bread in way too long!
Warm enough for popsicles!
They are definitely not social distancing.
Found these on my doorstep from Emilee… she knows me well and knows my love for candy corn + peanuts (add some marshmallows and WOW).
Practicing for Easter.
Had some ingredients we needed to use and found a recipe that looked delicious!
We made this mango chicken pasta salad with tarragon lime dressing!
Eating at the table a lot more often now.
We have been watching all of the animal documentaries on Disney+.
Time for a run and some strengthening of my steering wheel! (source)

If you are a morning runner… how long does it take you to get out the door from the time you wake up to go run?
Give me your sentence of the day!

If you guys are into animal shows and documentaries, please check out The Zoo on Animal Planet! It’s about the animals and keepers at The Bronx Zoo and SO good! My boyfriend and I are obsessed. We watched it randomly on Saturday and literally didn’t move for 6 hours (in our defense it was raining so it’s not like we could’ve gone outside ;) Check On Demand to see if you get it but it seems like every episode is free and we started it from the beginning. It’s really cool
The Hungry Runner Girl
Oh awesome! Thank you so much Maureen for letting me know about this. I can’t wait to show the girls… 6 hours is totally normal during this time of quarantine (and rain:)! Can’t wait, thanks so much!

Hi Janae !
It takes me about 30 minutes between the moment i wake up and the moment i begin to run. Never less, because i have to prepare myself, eat a banana and drink a glass of water, and also prepare my dog, that is to say, let him go out in the garden first and let him do what he has to :)
And then, prepare the equipment to run with him.
(Sorry if i say «him», i think in english you say «it» but it sounds weird to me. He is not an object ?)
Some days, it is not hard to find the strength to run early in the morning, but it is, to do all that preparation before running.
I heard that some people are sleeping in their running clothes to be ready to go as soon as waking up ! Thatcould help ! Ha !
Have a beautiful day !
The Hungry Runner Girl
Hey Ingrid! I love that your dog runs with you so much, I bet he is missing those miles together a lot right now too! I totally agree with calling your dog he or she! Thanks so much friend and I hope your day is beautiful too!
Colleen
This is random, but I think our zoo (Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens) will be featured on Disney+ soon! They have a great cheetah ambassador program, and will be showing Kris, a cheetah cub whose mother couldn’t care for her, and her BFF, a shelter dog named Remus! It’s adorable to watch them interact together. Keep an eye out for it! Stay well ☺️
The Hungry Runner Girl
NO WAY! Cheetah’s are Brooke’s current favorite animals so she is going to be so excited to see this. Thank you and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Their Facebook and Instagram pages are pretty active – especially now. They have a hippo named Fiona that they feature quite often, too. She is sassy and her and her mother, Bibi, have lots of attitude. So much fun to watch.

Takes me 20-30 minutes…I need a good warmup before actually heading out, so I get up a bit earlier to make that happen! Always worth it, even when I have to drag myself up. :-)
Sentence of the day…my new workout was awesome! A studio my friend goes to is posting workouts online, and I’ve always wanted to try them. I had to push myself, but it was great to be able to keep up and learn some new moves!
The Hungry Runner Girl
YAY!!! Oh Kristin, I am SO excited that your new workout was awesome! Way to go trying something new and really pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone. I hope you have a beautiful day!
Colleen
Sleeping in running clothes?? So you slept in a sports bra? That sounds horrible lol ? it takes me about 15 minutes depending on if my kiddo wakes up before I leave.
The Hungry Runner Girl
Hahaha I sure did… anything to get an extra 20 seconds of sleep. Now I can’t imagine doing that ha. I hope you had a great morning run today and I agree, the number definitely depends on if anyone wakes up before we leave:). Hope your Thursday is a beautiful one!

Happy Thursday!
My early morning run progression is the SAME! Younger me – alarm goes off, roll out, change real quick and out the door. Now…alarm goes off, give myself 5 more minutes, slowly roll out and change, get some water and loosen up, then make my way outside (sometimes a bit begrudgingly – mostly cause the early morning runs are in the dark). Part of the change is definitely my job situation (more time in the mornings now) but also getting older, I just want more sleep.
I love Brooke’s pink nose in the biking photo.
The Hungry Runner Girl
We are the same way! I wonder what it will be like for us in another decade or two! WE NEED MORE SLEEP:). I thought her little nose was so cute too:). Thanks Janelle and I hope you are having a great morning so far!
Mariah
During the week, I run in the morning once or twice with friends and do 3-4 miles, so only need about 10 minutes to get ready since I don’t need to eat! But when I run longer on the weekend, normally 30 minutes.
The Hungry Runner Girl
Totally agree with you, the distance definitely determines how much earlier I wake up too! I bet you are missing those runs with your friends. I sure do! Hope your morning has been great so far Mariah!
Margie
Hi Janae!
It *can* take me five minutes (out of bed, get dressed, gulp of water, go!), but my preference is around 30: wake up, make coffee, Morning Prayer, go for a run. If I’m hungry I’ll add toast or a banana.
The Hungry Runner Girl
Morning Prayer… YES:) I love that so much Margie! Thanks for sharing and I hope your morning has been really great so far!
Carrie
I am fairly quick getting out of the house, 15 min? It used to be less but I am trying to add some stretching and should add more. I am having issues with my left leg, no pain while running though. But what I really need to do is take a week off but you know how scary that is!!!
The Hungry Runner Girl
Fifteen minutes is awesome! I am so sorry that you are having that pain outside of running and I totally know what you mean… especially during this time of the world. We need running! I hope that with just a few days off though it starts feeling better, please keep me updated. Have a beautiful Thursday Carrie!
John
Your comment about the chicks not social distancing reminds me of a comment a neighbor girl made on Facebook. She is a large animal vet down in California and I mentioned to her that the cows weren’t social distancing in the picture she posted (of her delivering a calf!).
She replied back, “they don’t know how to practice social distancing ? but we try to keep a cows length between us and the dairy workers, which is super easy to do”
Lol, using a cow as a social distancing measuring device.
The Hungry Runner Girl
Hahaha that is awesome and definitely easy to do! I’ll start thing about the cow distance from now on. Hope you have a great Thursday, John!
Jen
Good morning! I am usually a morning runner and am usually out the door in 15 minutes. This week is Spring Break so I’m shaking things up a bit–getting up and eating breakfast and watching Good Morning America and Live with Kelly and Ryan before heading out. So there’s my sentence for the day….get out the door! Have a great day.
The Hungry Runner Girl
Hey Jen! Oh I love that you have mixed things up and hope you enjoy the rest of your spring break! Thanks friend, you too!

My Sunday run group meets at 630 am. I set my alarm for 543 am, hit snooze twice, finally roll out of bed at 602 am,,,kiss hubby, gather my clothes( I lay out everything the night before), use ladies room, brush teeth ,put in contacts, go downstairs, pop toast in toaster, put on shoes….and out the door with peanut butter toast and water by 6:17!,, That was also my run on sentence! Hahaha
The Hungry Runner Girl
Ahh I loved hearing that you set your alarm for 5:43 because I always set my alarm for random numbers! You’ve got the morning routine all figured out and your run on sentence looks like my normal sentence ha. Thanks for sharing Lori and have a great Thursday!
Andrea
We just ordered five chicks!! We’re getting them Tuesday, we’re so excited. Set up the coop over the weekend. My 4 yo daughter says she’s naming hers “rainbow unicorn butterfly”…
The Hungry Runner Girl
AHHHH this just made my morning! I told Brooke what your daughter is naming one and it made her smile so big. Thanks for sharing! Have a fabulous day and let me know how it goes with them!
Jenny
You always post the most amazing looking food and I always get hungry reading your blog … although I literally read it while eating! Ha!
I take 30 minutes to get out the door to run when I run first thing in the morning. If I wait too long I end up eating breakfast then have to wait for it digest and even then it’s a gamble. My tummy is happier when I run on empty (for runs an hr and under).
My sentence of the day is why not?! Why not run longer and just see how it feels. Why not run faster and see how it feels. Why run slower and see how it feels. etc. This week has been a combo of all three and it’s been an amazing week!
Have a great day!
The Hungry Runner Girl
Hahaha I am glad that you have food to eat with you while you read;). I love your sentence for today and it was just what I need. Love it and so glad you have had an amazing week! Thank you so much Jenny!
Erica
Sentence (or 2): Quarantine food can sometimes be a blast from the past. Had that Quaker oatmeal from the packet today. Haven’t had that stuff in a decade.
The Hungry Runner Girl
Hahaha I LOVE it when that happens! Tell Chris and Hope hello for me:) Have a great day and now I need some Quaker oatmeal packets!
Amy S
Hi Janae! That trail mix looks awesome!! You’ll have to let us know how it is. How long it takes me to get out of bed for a run depends on how long I’m planning to run and what season it is.. it always takes longer when it’s cold out. Happy Thursday!
The Hungry Runner Girl
That is SO SO true… I forgot about that. Summer running definitely takes me less time too! I hope you have the best Thursday. Thanks Amy!
Marissa
I can easily be out the door in 5-10 minutes :) The husband takes closer to 15 so it takes longer when we run together.
Today was the first day this week that I’ve been up before the sun!! And it was rainy so I only saw 1 other person on my run. It’s also the furthest I’ve gone since spraining my ankle and bruising my ankle bone. Yay!
The Hungry Runner Girl
This made me so so happy! Way to go Marissa on getting in your longest run since your injury! You are rocking your comeback! Those runs in the rain are just so healing. Hope the rest of your Thursday is a great one!
Paige Cassandra Flamm
I run in the evenings, but I used to just get my clothes on and go. Since quarantine started I’ve been taking about 5-10 minutes to do some activation drills before my run, so now it takes a little bit longer to “be ready”
