Let’s catch up on the last few days because with this quarantine and all… we just have SO many things to tell you;)

*I went for a ninja look on the treadmill.  It’s a lot easier to get on the treadmill when it is winter outside but with these gorgeous temperatures it was a little bit harder and Andrew was at work.  PS he had his first day working with patients with Covid.  He came home pretty sad about it all.  Normally he is on the ‘clean floor’ because he is in the Cardiac ICU but they needed his help elsewhere.

*The girls and I took a walk and it was gorgeous out.

IMG 0526

*Now to get her to not just eat the ranch off of the broccoli and eat the broccoli too!  Also, Skye is now telling us that her arm with the bandaid is broken.

IMG 1701

*When Knox woke up yesterday morning he asked me if it was ‘tank top’ weather and when I said yes, his smile was from ear to ear.

IMG 1736

*We decided to match.

IMG 1727

*The kid’s teachers did a parade and it was a VERY BIG DEAL.

IMG 1755

*Skye was just so happy to have an event on her calendar to attend.

IMG 1759

*BBQ season is here for good and every time I eat a tater tot I think about the scene from Napoleon Dynamite where he stores them in his cargo pocket.

IMG 1768

*Skye has completely mastered the evil eye.

IMG 1741

*The highlight of the kid’s ‘stay at home’ time so far = camping in the backyard.  I like camping for a night or two but not when my bed is just so close;)  Skye and I stayed out with them until late and then went back inside for some quality sleep.

DSC02814

*S’mores were a part of the evening of course too.

IMG 1783

*I just cook them in the oven now because they always turn out so much better than when we cook them over the fire and I don’t like Skye near fires these days:)

IMG 1779

*Megan D sent this to me yesterday after my post about how Andrew and I are different.  I am definitely the “It’s ALREADY 10pm” person.

IMG 1721

*I’ve been trying to come up with some new hairstyles for my runs now that I am not wearing an ear warmer/headband every day.  I tried a mini French Braid the other day and felt pretty cool but I definitely need to practice doing those on myself ha.  Just trying to add a little excitement to these runs lately.

Definitely an “It’s already 10 pm” person! That is past bedtime! Those s’mores look amazing–those marshmallows! I never thought to do them in the oven!

I’m pretty boring–usually just a ponytail, or when my hair is really long, a braided ponytail to keep the tangles away. For races, I do two french braids.

Today is my first rest day in a few weeks! I haven’t run every single day, but have been running a lot more and cross training . . . yesterday I did a long run in some pretty miserable weather, and I was exhausted after! Seems like a good day to rest. Have a great Thursday!

Reply

I agree, 10pm is just way too late! I need to try out the two french braid thing.. how cute. Good for you to take a rest day, your body is so thankful and you have been rocking it these past few weeks. Thanks Kristin, you too!

Reply

Definitely “it’s already 10 PM”. 10 PM is late!! I am not a night owl at all haha.

I’m pretty boring with my hair when running. It’s either in a ponytail or a power bun. But love the braid, so cute!

Reply

Maybe runners in general are just not night owls ha… running makes us so tired at night?! Thank you Mariah! I hope you have a really great day!

I am a “it’s already 10 pm” type of person though I’ve been finding myself staying up a little later lately mainly because the kids are up later, but I still go to sleep before the other 3 in my house. And we are enjoying several (working) hours before we have to force them to get up for distance learning. On the weekends I get the mornings to myself and it is pure heaven!

I have a love hate relationship with camping. I have always had a very hard time sleeping anyways, so in a tent I pretty much don’t sleep at all, so that isn’t good for long periods of time. But when I was in my 20s I camped all the time and I loved it, so I think it may be an age thing as well :) My husband has never been camping except at music festivals, and my daughter is fine never camping – I’ve gone 3 times with my son but I don’t know how much more we will go :) It is SO much work!!! But at the same time I don’t think of a camper or anything as really camping so I don’t see ever doing that either. But I do get the appeal of the price of camping – I travel around the US for 8 weeks after college and we did 1/2 camping and 1/2 hotel but after 2-3 nights of camping I was so ready for a crappy motel bed!

Reply

Oh those quiet mornings alone are just the best and so worth it to go to bed early for! You sure have a lot on your plate right now! I’m with you, the older I get the more I need my sleeping routine. What an amazing adventure you did after college… I bet those memories are just the best! Sure made you thankful for those terrible beds at the motel haha. Hope your day is a wonderful one Jessey!

I am growing out bangs so it is typically wearing a trucker hat or Bobby pins and a pony tail. I wish I could be more creative for my running style.

I am very much a “it’s already 10pm” person. My bestie is the opposite and will start some complicated craft or sewing project at this time!

My kids wanted to camp last night, but a drizzle was in the forecast. It is supposed to be in the 80’s next week in Boise so they will do it then. I think they are going to sleep on the trampoline:) I will only sleep outside if I am actually camping.

4 miler this morning before my first day back to work at the office in weeks! Tomorrow rest day or short run with the hubby.

Have a great day!

Reply

Hey Jenny! Great run and you are back to work in the office. That is really exciting! Does that mean things are going well in your area? I totally forgot about sleeping on the trampoline, they will want to do that next. HAHA START complicated projects at 10 pm?! My brain would explode. I hope you have a great day too!

Reply

I do the power bun that you shared a while back! It keeps my curly hair in place and off my neck so it’s basically amazing.

Reply

Ahhh the power bun! It is THE BEST to not feel a single hair touching us. So glad you love it and I need to do that again. Hope your day is off to an amazing start Maureen!

Reply

S’More hack – use a Reese’s PB cup instead of a Hershey’s bar. Takes it to a whole new level! And you can make them in the Air Fryer as well.

Reply

Whoa whoa whoa … AIR FRYER S’MORES W/ REESE’S? My mind is BLOWN! I need to try this ASAP!!!!

Reply

Tell me more about the Air Fryer and which one to get (PS you are 100% right about the Reese’s PB cup)! Have a great day Meredith!

My 5 year old has been begging to camp out in the backyard the last few weeks. Its jut not quite warm enough at night yet here in IL. Hopefully we can do it in the next few weeks. Those oven s’mores look heavenly. I might need to make those tonight. I am definitely its 10pm already, although lately I have been finding myself staying up later which will not be good on my schedule when social distancing is lifted. Today is strength day for me….I will probably redo one of Muncher Cruncher’s HIIT workouts. I am addicted and now i have added tuck jumps to things I can do thanks to her workouts. The first few times I tried to do those I felt like my feet barely left the ground. Where did you get Brooke’s pink sandals?

Reply

Hey Corrinne!I really hope that it starts warming up for you guys! I really hope you guys do the oven s’mores:) Megan’s HIIT workouts are just the best and I’m so excited you can do tuck jumps (teach me;). Brooke’s sandals are from target:

Have a fabulous day!

My husband and I are definitely it’s already 10 o’clock people lol. I am in bed no later than 8:30 most nights. I get up at 4:30 most mornings .I NEED eight hours ?. Camping has never been my thing. Like at all. Give me my comfy bed!

Reply

It really is just so hard to choose to sleep on the ground ha. That’s awesome that you guys are both morning people:) 4:30 am… I’ll definitely not complain about my next alarm clock. Have a great day!

Reply

My go-to for running is either a messy bun or ponytail. I don’t have great luck with braids.
I’ve become the “it’s already 10 p.m.” person after kids, and adjusting my work schedule to early hours (6-3) to maximize evening time with them.
I’m in the middle on camping: love it when the weather is good, but I’ve had a few cold/wet Girl Scout leader experiences that were less than ideal ;) My son asked for s’mores on Tuesday, so we expanded that to a “camping dinner” and roasted hot dogs over the fire first. I was glad I powered through my initial “it’s kinda windy and chilly” thoughts and just adopted his joy about it–he made it lots of fun!
I’ll keep my #quarantinestreak for workouts going today with an indoor kettlebell/dumbell/core workout and hope for dry running weather over the weekend.
Enjoy that warm weather!!f

Reply

That is an early start to your work day, wow! Camping dinner, what a great idea! Kids are just the best and they sure help us to all enjoy life a bit more. Way to go on your workout and I hope you have the best weather for your runs this weekend. Thanks Corey!

Reply

Ah, I miss those days when everything was exciting for the kids! Our teachers did a parade as well and my fifth grade daughter just rolled her eyes. I guess looking on the bright side, she’s extremely independent now and I don’t have to help with her school work (or, she won’t allow me…) so I’ll take the good with the bad!
My workout today was 40 minutes on the bike (my bike on the trainer inside) which I’m not a fan of, but I somehow tweaked my inner thigh and am taking a couple days off of running. Hoping to get out and run tomorrow.
Have a great day Janae!

Reply

I have a feeling my kids will be the same way in fifth grade and that is definitely a plus that she can do it on her own! Bummer about your inner thigh and I really hope you are good to go with running soon. Thanks Jenny, you too!

Reply

I’m a “It’s already 10:00 p.m.” person for sure. Which is usually followed by the thought “I should have been asleep an hour ago!” LOL

I’ve tried different hairstyles but nothing seems to work as well as a good old ponytail and visor.

I went camping once, and I’ll never go again! To be fair though it was during a Texas spring (self-explanatory), and we were completely inexperienced so I think it was mainly user error :)

Today is a workout day! I’m doing the old school T25 program so I can workout indoors. (See Texas reference above). Have a great day!

Reply

I love camping for a few days! We haven’t been in so long… Maybe that will happen this summer if quarantine is lifted!?
Oh and I agree with whoever said try S’mores with peanut butter cups…. Amazing!
We’ve been grilling out this week too, and it’s just so nice. Maybe because I’m not cooking another meal in the kitchen, ha!
I’m usually just a pony tail person, my hair barely touched my shoulders. But maybe I’ll try a French braid. That’s a fun change up.
Today I was just going to do a shortish run, but my left quad has not been happy lately. I think because I am running more these days, and almost exclusively on the roads. Our trails are still open, but there are just so many people on them that it is making me a little uncomfortable…
I have seen teacher parades and birthday parades here too. It’s such a special treat for the kiddos.
Have a great Thursday…or whatever day! ?

Reply

Aw I would love a teacher parade. My sons birthday is tomorrow so we have family doing a drive by.

I’m happy you’re having nice weather, we are having a very cold April here and it snowed yesterday. I’m really craving some warm sun. Like if it could just hit 60 I’d be fine!!

Thanks to Andrew for doing the job he does ❤️

Reply

How do you make the smores in the oven? I need detailed instructions, please (I’m not great at cooking without directions).

Reply

HEY LYNN! I hope you love them cooked in the oven too! I turned our oven to 425 and then placed a few graham crackers on a cookie sheet with a marshmallow on each one. I put it on the top rack and they were probably in there for about 5 minutes (and I kept checking them each minute)! They turn out perfect that way and my house doesn’t smell like smoke from the fire outside;) Hope you are having a beautiful day Lynn!

Reply

Ha, as you know I’m a “it’s already 8pm person” lol. It was eye opening working from home for 3 weeks – still getting up at 3:20am – and seeing my wife’s “late” morning routine. I am back to work in the factory, have to wear a mask all day. So far, so good.

Probably elliptical and hips/glutes today. I may start running again next week or the week after.

No camping for us – we are definitely hotel people when we travel.

Reply

I am in its already 10 pm person. In my highest mileage days it was it’s already 8:45 pm person. :)

Camping, only if I am hiking my supplies in somewhere awesome.

Reply

Hahah that is so true! Depending on our mileage for the week, the times definitely change. I agree, the camping destination definitely makes me love camping more or less;). Have a great day!

Reply

I always braid my hair when I run! Typically I just do a three strand braid, but during quarantine I’ve taught myself how to French braid and how to do French braid pigtails. So I’ve been mixing it up with my style of braid. :-)

Reply

French braid pigtails.. I want to try that! The quarantine is teaching us all sorts of things ha. Hope you have a beautiful day!

Reply

Haha, my daughter is the same way with dip! She eats her vegetables too, but I have a feeling all the dip negates the health benefits of the vegetables;-). I agree with Knox, tank top weather is the best!!!

I LOVE to camp (growing up we had a teepee!), but I have realized that in my older age, I don’t love sleeping on the ground, haha. Plus, when we go, my vehicle is not big enough to hold our tent and all of our gear! So we have to camp locally and make a couple trips with our clothes, wood, food, tent, etc. My husband and I were just looking at campers yesterday. He was getting upset because I want to find the best deal/cheapest (we live in MN so our camping season is limited). My only priorities is that we all have a place to sleep and is small so it’s easy for me to tow. He is looking for something “more comfortable”I told him the point of camping is to be outside, not sitting inside a camper;-).

Reply

I’m the “it’s already 9 pm” person! ?

Reply

Hahaha I relate to this more than anything ha. 9 pm feels LATE! Have a wonderful day Mary!

Reply

I have shoulder length curly hair so either a ponytail, braided ponytail, or bun once it gets really hot.

Definitely an “it’s already 10pm” person. My hubby is an “it’s only” but he is trying to become the “it’s already”! lol. He’s an elementary school principal so he has to get up early.

We bought a 5th wheel camper last year, so I love to camp in it(but it has air conditioning, heat, and a real mattress, lol)! We had reservations for Fort WIlderness at Disney for Spring Break but those got cancelled. Hoping for safe opportunities to camp this summer and fall.

I already ran my 6 miles this morning. It sprinkled on me a little, but when I set my alarm the weather app said 70% chance so I was very glad to get it in.

PS I finally made the Recovery Salad this week. I loved it! I reminds me of Panera’s warm grain bowls! Now I’m looking for more big salads like that that I can eat out of all week!

Reply

Did you know you can make smores in the air fryer??? Haven’t done it myself, but looks super simple!

Reply

Okay, that sounds AWESOME!! Do you have an air fryer that you recommend?? Have a great day Tiffany!

Reply

I’m neither an ‘it’s already 10’ or and ‘it’s only 10’, I’m never awake long enough to see 10pm! Ha! Fortunately, I married someone who has to be up for work at 3:30am so staying up past 8:30pm is a stretch for us both!
Love the camping in the backyard idea with your kiddos! What a wonderful memory for them to have! :)

Reply

–Winter or summer, earband or not, visor or not, 99.99% of the time I have one plain braid down the back and clips on the sides. I don’t like ponytail fly-aways sticking to my neck and face and a braid is by far my best option to tie it all down. (I see some buns out there that look like they’d work but I have zero bun skills. Zero.)
–I used to be “9pm, time for bed.” Now that I’m older and don’t sleep as well, I’m a bit more flexible…until 10:30pm and then the world ends.
–I don’t mind the actual camping at all but the prep work that goes into getting there…ack. Backyard is great because prep is so simple.
–I hope to squeeze a run in today…but it’s iffy with 6 hrs of 1st grade to monitor, one more load of laundry, and a trip to the grocery store. Hopefully I will get a few miles while little one bikes for “PE”.

We love to camp! We recently bought a camper, late last spring, and have loved it! It is such wonderful family time and I know memories we will cherish. Most state parks we visit have limited cell service, so that is a bonus, that encourages the kids to be outside. We love to hike the trails, bike, and do all the nature things. Our 7 and 4 year old have asked so many times, “when are we going camping again?” lol. Hopefully the parks will open back up again soon. Also, the s’mores with the peanut butter cup… ahh mazing!
Also, side note… Brooks had a give away for healthcare workers a few weeks back, the first 10,000 to enter would receive a pair of shoes… and I was one that won! I am so excited! LOL, I never win anything, so this is extra exciting to me lol! I do x-ray in a hospital and have been leaving my shoes outside when I get home, so I don’t expose the kids or hubby. So, this is a wonderful little bonus, to have another pair of shoes to add to the rotation. Another reason I love the company Brooks and all they stand for.
Have a wonderful today! Love reading your posts every morning!

Reply

Alli, thanks for sharing that about Brooks, how cool that they are doing that and I’m so glad you won a pair! Thanks for doing what you do!

Reply

Those s’mores look heavenly!! Now I know what I’m having for dessert this weekend! Yummmmmm!
I love that you guys camp in your backyard! My family hates it and won’t do it so we haven’t been in years. They prefer cabins or hotels. Something about being comfortable>sleeping on the hard ground is more appealing to them :)
I used to do french braid pig tails but that got to be too much so now I just throw it back so it’s out of my face! Today I had to wear a hat though since it was raining during my entire run. In the winter I wear a buff but that’s mostly to keep my ears warm.
I’m definitely a “it’s 10 pm already” person and my husband is a “it’s only 10 pm” person. And I wake up when he’s just getting to bed!
Today ended up being another 10 mile day! My goal was 5 miles but I brought nuun endurance and chap stick in case I had 10 in me and I’m super thrilled I did!
Have a great day!

Reply

WAY TO GO on another double digit run. You are rocking it and brilliant to bring that chapstick just in case. Thank goodness for hats on those rainy days. Sounds like our relationships are very similar. I hope that you guys enjoys some smores this weekend and a great night of sleep on a soft bed! Thanks Jenny, you too.

Is Andrew quarantining away from the family now that he’s working with COVID patients? My aunt is an ER doc and she is totally staying away from her family.

Reply

Hey Liz! We were originally planning on doing that but after talking with his hospital we have decided not too. He is fully covered (luckily, his hospital has enough gear for him) and strips down in the backyard (our neighbors can’t see) before running into our guest bathroom to shower after his shift. Tell your aunt thank you for what she does and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Reply

High ponytail/braid when I run + a headband if it’s windy. I go really fancy when I’m riding my bike – 2 braids so I can tighten my helmet properly.

I’m definitely an “It’s already 10 pm” person.

We haven’t gone camping in years. When my parents were still living we camped almost every summer – we’d meet up in Morro Bay or San Simeon. Camping on the central coast in the summer is awesome with cool temps and the sound of the ocean putting us to sleep. I miss those days… except I really like sleeping in my bed.

5 mile run this morning + 20 minutes of yoga. It was 70 degrees at 5:30. We had 1 day of Spring and now we’ve gone to Summer.

Reply

Yes, that’s how Brooke requests her hair too when she rides her bike. What amazing memories you have from those camping trips, what a special tradition. Welcome to summer!! Hope your Thursday is a great one!

Reply

Oh my gosh that meme is so true! My husband is an “it’s only 10pm” and I’m an “its already 10pm”

Reply

Hahah our relationships sound very similar. Hope you have a great weekend Kristin!

Reply

We have the Ultrean air fryer. It’s a really big one and can do rotisserie chicken and dehydrate fruit as well. It has a turning basket for the best fries (we cut our own regular and sweet, shake them in a bag with a bit of oil and seasoning..they do take a while to cook, much longer than it says if you want them crispy) and it has trays for dehydration, chicken, s’mores.

Reply

This sounds INCREDIBLE! We absolutely need this. Thanks Tiffany for sharing this with me.

Reply

Haha. Most nights I do not make it till 10 pm?.

We love to camp. Some of our best memories are camping road trips so pretty sad about this time.

And I have a lot of family in healthcare so I feel for Andrew!

Re: hairstyle…lots of pony tails and buns. And some mornings I curl my hair just because. No one except me and him are going to see it ?.

I love Skye’s evil eye:). Hope you have a great day!

Reply

Hahaha you are not alone in not making it to 10 pm most nights. Our State Parks reopened here, I wonder how long until others do! I want to curl my hair in the morning… how fun. Thanks Kristine, you too!

Reply

smores in the oven sound so good. Ugh it keeps snowing here in upstate NY and I am so over it. I don’t know where spring is or whether I will even need to take off my winter tires.
I am definitely a “it’s already 10pm” person as I am usually in bed by 9pm lol

Reply

More snow?! NOOOO! I hope you get some warm weather soon. I’m just like you and usually in bed by 9 too so we rarely make it to the 10pm hahaha! I hope you are having a great Thursday, Alicia!

Reply

Try making ranch dip out of Greek yogurt or a mix of Greek yogurt with a little mayo. You can even use the hidden valley ranch packets or equivalent generic. Then at least Skye is using the vegetable as a yogurt delivery device which is a little more nutritious!

Reply

BRILLIANT!! I’m definitely going to try this. Thank you so much Melly and have a great rest of your day!

Reply

I am definitely the , “Is it 10 pm yet?” I am pretty worn out at the end of the day. My husband leaves for work by 5:00 and gets home around 7:30 and is on the phone with work calls until 9-10. With that being said, I don’t fall asleep at 10, because even though I am fried, my brain desires solo thought time.
We love camping and my boys are chomping at the bit to get out and camp. I love my bed and can’t do backyard camping knowing the bed is so close by :) you are a better person than me Janae!
Today I did my first workout without the TM. I typically would do speed work on the TM, because I know my boys are okay and I don’t have to leave my house. I decided to find a one mile section near my house to do some speed work on and had my phone with me so they could FaceTime me, which they did A LOT. I was able to run a fast mile, 4 x 400, 800 m, and another faster mile before my body and boys said no more. Sometimes it feels great to fail and I definitely did ;) BUT, I did a workout without my TM so it was a big win for me

Reply

OMG….Skye’s evil look cracked me up! I am definitley a comfy bed person and congrats to making it to 10 PM. HA

Andrew -> #covid19, da-DA-DAAAAAAH It’s PPE time, it’s PPE time, doobie doobie doobie doobie doo. I’m great in a crisis. LOVE this! Except a couple things. You know, one thing I see sparsely mentioned is gargling. Umhum.

My mask is actually an N95. It’s really tight, and warmer temps -> not good. When I saw some Italian health care workers with red marks on their faces, it was a whole new level.

I am definitely an ‘it’s already 10:00 pm’ person – except change the 10:00pm to 8:00pm!

Such a fun post! What are those shorts that you’re wearing where you’re matching with Brooke? I love them!!

Stick a piece of chocolate inside the marshmallow before roasting it. You’re welcome.

Same with the hair. I put waves in it and a headband on today! My husband is probably like “where does she think she’s going today?”
I was wondering about Brooke’s sandals. They look comfortable and like they stay on a foot better than flip flops. Might I ask where they are from?
