Silentish Saturday!!

Skye was NOT okay with them jumping out of the car to go to school.

She perked up when she joined us on my run:)

Skye loves the bike trailer and Andrew and I got in an hour of talking which was really nice.  7 miles @ 8:11 average.

We did hear a lot about Skye’s Elsa dress during the last mile and she was jumping for joy when Andrew got it out.

We stretched.

Brooke and Andrew left to California for her to visit her dad.

LOVED listening to this episode while I was cleaning… I can’t even keep up with all of the amazing podcasts being released lately around the Olympic Trials.

They made it to California!

Skye got dressed up to hang out at my sister’s house.

And then we had my nephew’s over for movie night.

A late (2nd) dinner with Andrew (ehh 10:40) when he got home.

Excited to start off today with a trail run and then watch the trials.  I was worried I would be sad not being there today but I’m actually VERY excited to watch it at home and work hard to try to get there in four years!

Today I am going to the eye doctor, checking out some new to us coin shops and going for a nice leisurely walk. The weather is gorgeous today and I’m going to enjoy it!

Oh I am so happy that you get to go out and enjoy that weather! Happy Saturday Kimberly!

Hi Janae!
I have an off topic question I would like to ask you! Your house is beautifully decorated, and I love viewing it as the background of your photos! Could you share the name of the paint color on your walls in what looks like your living and dining room area, please? Ha! You didn’t know your running blog was also a home improvement blog, right?! Lol I can’t seem to find the right gray paint color, and I love the way yours shows up in pictures!
You are so enthusiastic and your happiness bubbles over in your posts! I look forward to reading them daily and find you to be such an inspiration and positive force!! Thank you so much for that!!

Haha maybe we should make it more into a home improvement blog! We are having fun with it! So the paint color we don’t know because it was there when we moved in and the previous owners don’t know either because it was the people before them that painted it and they don’t have their contact info. We just have to take in a bit and have it matched so that we can touch up spots etc. Maybe I could send you a little piece and you could take it in to get matched? Excited for your painting and I can’t thank you enough for your sweet words, they mean a lot to me. Thanks Kathryn!

Did 10 miles, I am suddenly getting faster and not feeling like it is a hard pace. My knee is not in love with the idea but I have learned to push it a little, take an extra day off and keep going. It’s partially my hamstrings so trying to get some good stretches in and keep strength training!! It usually cooperates at some point!! But my half marathon pace is 100% an easy pace now for me.
I tried to get the family to agree to go somewhere today but no one was on board. The 9 yr old suggested roller skating so I think that is our outing for the day. No swimming today and no meets, our last free Sat for A LONG time!!

Reply

Carrie, that is SO exciting! I am so happy that you are figuring this out and that your half marathon pace is now EASY–> amazing! Enjoy the roller skating and no-schedule Saturday!

Working today and tracking a friend who is running his first half marathon (Zion Half). I am his unofficial, untrained coach, lol. Then it’s a workout and bills/taxes. I’m taping the marathon trials so hopefully I don’t see any results prior to watching!

Have a great day!

Reply

Oh I want to do that half so badly! I hope he did great and that is awesome you helped him get there. I won’t say a word about the trials until Monday:) Thanks John, you too!

Reply

He ended up running a 2:32. Not bad for a couch to Half Marathon on an uphill course for my first client! Lol… He was pretty happy with his time.

Reply

That is FABULOUS! Way to go coach:)

Love your sweet family! We are at the beach this weekend for the Seaside School 1/2 marathon tomorrow. Beautiful morning shake out run, headed to the farmers market, maybe some beach time and then ALL in for watching the trials! So excited to watch everyone.

Reply

Well this just sounds like the perfect weekend! Enjoy every second and good luck tomorrow! Let me know how it goes. Thanks Avery!

Reply

Hi! Well I ran a 1:37:41 and finally placed in my age group and got to stand on the podium! Thanks for the encouragement!

Reply

AHHH AVERY! Way to go friend! You are AMAZING and I’m so happy you had a great race… recover well!!!

I can’t wait to cheer you on in 4 years!
I woke up @ 5:30 and jumped (eh, rolled) out of bed to clean and get stuff done before I watch the trials! The boys have swim in the middle (can’t believe they did that! Ha!) of the marathon so I’ve already set up the recording.
We’re going to make all the cookies and bath bombs today and I can’t wait!
If I’m motivated I’ll get a strength session in. Or a nap.
Have a great day!

Reply

Oh thank you Jenny, that means a lot! You were up early to get things going! Enjoy watching when you get home and you’ll have to let me know how you make the bath bombs:). I hope you get the strength AND the nap. Thanks and you too!

That episode with the NAZ elite women was so good! I have listened to more podcasts this week leading up to the trials, all so, so good!
I’m heading out for a hilly 5 miles, then watching the trials while stretching, foam rolling, and maybe some strength work. I’m glad you’re not too sad about not being in Atlanta today. But you will be at the trials in 4 years and we will all cheer for you ?
Have a great Saturday!

Now that episode is even cooler after the results today for the winner (don’t want to spoil it for anyone that hasn’t watched it yet). Sounds like a really great day Wendy and thank you so much, that means a lot!

Reply

Oh my gosh… so cool!! I think a lot of surprises today for sure! I’m a huge Des fan, so I was sad that she didn’t make the team, but there are so so many women that I love to watch and cheer for. I feel like we really could field 3 amazing teams of women this year! Now we just have to wait until the summer games (and soak in all the podcasts between now and then :) )

Today is penguins, pizza, and prepping for next week’s race! I am doing a half marathon next Sunday, and the day before there is a 5k. I am doing it and a lot of folks in my running group! I just started the group 6 months ago, and one person in it never ran 3 miles before our group! He is now running his first race (the 5k) and I am so excited so many of us are doing it together! This is taper time for me, so just a few short runs and 1 (or maybe 2) hour long runs this week!!

Reply

Ahhh your weekend is quite busy next week! Super excited for you and how cool about that friend of yours, that is awesome! Enjoy the taper Loribeth!

The look on Skye’s face in that first picture is priceless!! We traveled down to Birmingham to celebrate my son’s 7th birthday with my family. I had a very slow run on a very hilly trail this morning, and I loved every second. I wonder how our Birmingham hills compare to your Utah hills (I would probably die in Utah, and you would laugh at what I consider a hill). I want to watch the Trials today, but I may have to stay off social media and watch it when we get home tomorrow. Have a good weekend, and I hope you get a ton of texts from Brooke!!

Reply

Happy birthday to your son! Oh I bet those hills are intense and I’m so glad you got some time on the trails! Enjoy watching it when you get home and I won’t be blogging about it until Monday! So far she has texted me 6 times so I’m on cloud 9 about that… thanks for remembering!

Reply

So glad you aren’t sad today; you should be so proud of yourself since you were toeing the line with these women!

I ran a 10k this morning (crushed my previous 10k time by more than 2 minutes), now I’m doing laundry while watching coverage of the election (political science nerd), and waiting for the Olympic marathon trials!

Reply

AHH HUGE CONGRATS MERCEDES! That is a huge 10K pr! Ride that PR wave for a while!

Thank you Mercedes, I really appreciate you saying that.

Reply

I ran ten miles, cleaned the house and now am waiting impatiently for the marathon to start! I have my “Go Jared” pennant all ready to wave!!! Should be so much fun to watch. Have a great day!!!

Reply

Are you as heartbroken as I am right now over Jared?!? AHHHHHHHHHHH

Reply

Yes I am! Lots of surprises in that race… and I was also cheering for Des. : ( I hope Jared is on another podcast soon talking about the race, because I’ll be interested to hear what the day was like for him. You know he’s still going to be positive and inspirational! He’ll always be my favorite.

Reply

Janae, You have such a great attitude about the trials today. I am going to have to borrow some of that positivity ;) I am at the point where I have been training so many marathon cycles in a row (and having babies in-between) that I don’t know how much more I can do. I love following along and you always have such a great attitude, that is so appreciated.

Reply

Oh thank you Danielle for your sweet words. I am so sorry about the position you are in. Emilee and I have been talking about taking a year soon to go back to the shorter distances to work on those to help our marathon gears. Could that be an option for you too? It would be fun to join forces. Thinking about you and I’m always here if you need to talk!

Loving that outfit you have laid out – are those the Selina shorts?

Hey! Thanks! They are actually the lululemon ones: https://shop.lululemon.com/p/gift-ideas/Fast-And-Free-Short-6-Inches-NR/_/prod9370121?color=34135

Hey,
This is random but I’ve been meaning to share this with you since you posted about the Coronavirus and anxiety. I struggle with anxiety sometimes and definitely jump to the worst case scenario lol. This is a scripture song that helps me:

I cannot thank you enough for thinking about me and helping me. I just listened to it with skye and it gave me so much peace! Thank you and I’m saving this! Hope your weekend is going well❤️!

I am from Atlanta but live in Taipei. I got to hang out in ATL extra long because the virus pushed back school for us by a month. So, I got to watch the trials in person!!! It was SUPER cool. Everyone looked great and extremely strong. It was an amazing experience! It was so cool to see all these people that I’ve looked up to race in person. Glad y’all had a great weekend!

Reply

Oh I am SO happy you were able to be there! I bet it was just an incredible experience!!! Thanks Savannah and have a great week!
