Friday Favorites!

A few things from this pictures:

Skye could live off of those CLIF Kid ZBars that she has in her hand.

I hope they have matching coats their entire life.

It felt weird to be outside in shorts.

Skye has her shoes on the wrong feet… Her socks being a little off drive her crazy but her shoes on the wrong feet? NBD in her opinion.

Skyester and I hit up the gym for my run and I did 8 miles @ 8:34 average.  I brought my iPad and read while I ran a mix of blogs, Brene Brown and religious articles.

Skye made some new friends and got to see the fish tank at the gym afterwards so it was a successful visit for both of us.

It had been a very long time since we had last seen Knox and it felt so good to see him again.  Whenever he tells me about his life he plays with my hair… he started doing this when he was 3 and I love it.

Everyone was so happy to see him.

Never enough Elsa in our lives…

And to end of the day I found my least favorite thing in the dryer when I went to take out the clean clothes.  Luckily, only a few items of clothing were ruined!

A few of my favorite things this week (affiliate links included!):

*MEGAN’s APP—> STRENGTH TRAINING PROGRAM FOR RUNNERS is 75% off right now (just $7 with the code HRG2020 )!  It gives you 4 unique workouts per week and made just for runners to help them increase their strength, speed and agility!

IMG 4824

*You know how much I love my Amazon $26 leggings for running that feel like they should cost way more (and I’ve washed them all a million times and they are still amazing)… I decided to try their light fleece leggings for running and they win.  They are warm and still the same amazing quality and they are also $26.  I’m going to be wearing these a ton of those 20-30 degree runs and as a skiing base layer.

IMG 4862

*I told you about this Gap sweater a few weeks ago and how it is only $20… I’ve loved it so much I just got two more colors.  I’ll just rotate through them (the days I actually get out of athleisure clothing;)

IMG 4803

*I decided a little motivation via kitchen tools will help motivate me to cook more and it’s working haha.  I’ve wanted one of the cute Le Creuset cast iron dishes but I couldn’t justify the cost because I don’t actually cook that much ha so I found a much cheaper one on Amazon with amazing reviews—> HERE.  I bought the 4.3QT and so far it is perfect.

IMG 4700

*I love self-tanners or spray tans.  They are my favorite.  One of my favorite IGers posted about these self-tanner drops that you just mix in with your moisturizer at night and I’m obsessed with it.  I went with the dark but they also have a medium and light option.  It’s so easy to use and just a drop or two goes a long way in your moisturizer.

IMG 4838

*Last week when I talked about needing to change my watch face (it was a countdown to CIM before this) John recommended the VerticalMeteo watch face from the Garmin Connect Store with the light theme.  I love it and it has so much fun info on there just in case your Garmin can change screens.

Just the sweetest when a kid plays with your hair :)
Looking forward to temps in the 50s-60s this weekend! Also, getting back to running and/or the gym after being sick this week.
Laundry–you just reminded me that I need to rewash the towels that are still in the washer. Eww!
Fridays are work-from-home days for me–wahoo!
If I’m up for a run or workout this weekend, it will definitely be in shorts! YAY!

Oh I hate it when I leave things in the wash! So glad you are feeling better and enjoy those temps! Yay for working at home today. Have a great weekend Corey!

I love that white jacket in above pic!!! Any affiliate links for that? ☺️

Reply

Hahaha I wish! It’s from Brooks a few years ago and they don’t have it anymore but I’ll ask them to bring it back! Have the best day Stacey!

Reply

I got that Amazon cast iron in blue for Christmas! I love it for soups and stews.
It’s going to be shorts weather here on Saturday after we had snow on Wednesday!

Reply

Oh that makes me so happy! It’s such a great deal! Snow and shorts weather in the same week?!? That’s crazy! Enjoy!

Reply

It is supposed to snow a ton here this weekend. Hope and Chris are already planning their sledding day, and I am secretly planning my alone time ;)

I really need some of those leggings in my life. The teenagers in my school lose those rose colored ones. Not sure if I am too old to pull off.

Reply

Oh I hope they have the best time sledding and you have the best time soaking up some alone time (I hope with some hot chocolate too). YOU WOULD LOOK FABULOUS IN THOSE LEGGINGS! I’ll get them for you:)

The weather report last night said this morning would be rainy with 20-30 mph winds. So I woke up and got ready for the treadmill. But then I let the dog outside and realized how wrong that weather report was. No rain, 9 mph winds, and 53 degrees! I was more than happy to skip the treadmill and get outside.

We are having my daughter’s birthday party this weekend since her real birthday is close to Christmas. I had 23 kids RSVP! I have a bit of anxiety about that many 5 years olds. Luckily we are having it at gymnastics gym so that should wear them all out.

Reply

I am SO glad that the weather report was very very wrong. Sounds like the perfect running temperature. 23 5 YEAR OLDS. You are my hero and they are all going to have the best time at the gymnastics gym. Good luck (and have some caffeine before).

Reply

Glad you like the watch face! I will have to try turning mine horizontal like yours for a different look.

It is supposed to get really cold near Seattle next week, highs only in the 20’s. That is really cold for here. I’ll workout indoors anything much under 36 degrees or so but will wear shorts for anything over that (only for running).

I was born in Milwaukee, grew up in Kansas, and live near Seattle. So I will be enjoying the Packers/Chiefs/Seahawks playoff games this weekend. I suppose I will be rooting for the Seahhawks over the Packers. Does Andrew watch the NFL games at all?

Have a great weekend!

Reply

Thanks for the tip, I love it and I actually turned mine vertical yesterday ha! That is freezing for your area ! Hahaha so I’m guessing you don’t own any running pants?! Enjoy the games and he does every once in a while! Thanks John, you too and I’m cheering for the Seahawks.

Reply

Nope, no running pants! I did wear some old school sweat pants waaaay back in the day when I ran in Kansas though. Lol, the old gray ones with the drawstring.

Reply

Hey John! I tried this watch face too but mine, like Janae’s, says it’s 84 degrees! I live in NY so there is no way it’s 84 degrees. Obviously, all the elements are not syncing (there’s no sunrise time either). Any advice?? I need (want?) temp and sunrise time for my early morning runs!!! Thanks!

Reply

I had the same issue.

Aly,
After installing the watch face – set your watch like you are going to take a run and let it connect to GPS (It needs to know your location). Then it should show the correct information. I also set Field 3 in the watch face settings to “Weather target city” so I know it’s connected to the correct location.

Another thing to watch for – if the temperature does not look right check to see that your watch is still connected to the Garmin App on your phone. Mine often loses connectivity for some reason – and I have to restart my phone to reconnect it.

Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions.

I always (accidentally) leave cough drops in my pockets (promise I’m not 100 years old, you just never know when you’ll need one!) and it drives my husband crazy when he finds them in the washer. Haha!

I love your necklace, do you mind sharing where its from?

Reply

Haha you really do never know when you need one… I relate! But the washer haha… that’s funny:) . It’s from Madewell a few years ago so they don’t currently have it but they have this one that has a similar part of it and I also have this one and love it:

Hope your weekend is a wonderful one!

Reply

Thank you for posting those leggings! I am in dire need but when I was trying to decide on a pair I was overwhelmed by all the options out there. Nice to go off of recommendations instead!

Reply

Oh I hope you love them as much as I do! I cannot believe the quality for the price. Let me know what you think:) . Have a great weekend Julie!

Reply

OMG!! My Three year old is exactly the same, socks can’t be messed up at ALL, but shoes on the wrong feet all the time and doesn’t care

Reply

Bahaha it makes ZERO sense! Hope your day is a great one and that your little one’s socks don’t get messed up! Thanks LIsa.

Reply

Oh my gosh, your watch face said it was 84 degrees on January 4th…was it really that warm where you were?! If so, I am SO jealous! This morning I asked my 4 year old daughter if she remembered summer :-) We are more than ready for it to come back and we still have a lot of gross weather left to endure! Wintertime is so hard for me :-(

I love seeing that Knox is back with you and you’re all together! I hope you have a fun weekend and get to do some skiing if its not too warm!!

Reply

BAHAHAH!! I didn’t even notice that until I read your comment:) . It definitely wasn’t working that day ha… I WISH! Did she remember summer?! I don’t! I really hope that the rest of winter is mild for you guys and you can get some fresh air. It really can be so hard on our mental health… I GET IT and that’s why I’m so thankful for skiing because it helps me to see the sun. Thank you so much and I hope your weekend is fabulous too!

Reply

Hi Janae! Can you tell me which adorable Brooks shoes you’re wearing in the top pic?? Thanks!

Reply

HEY KARI!! They are the Ravenna 10s but I can’t find the same color online anymore. I LOVE the shoes though, try them out. Have a great weekend!

A quick tip for your enameled cast iron: buy a replacement handle from Le Creuset! They are temperature rated much higher than the off-brands usually. I replaced mine so now I can go up to the max in my oven for when I make crusty bread… yummmmm!

Reply

That’s a FABULOUS idea! Thank you so much Sarah!

Reply

Just bought those leggings, thanks for the recommendation! I have a pair of the other ones and love them, the fleece ones are going to be great for cold weather runs. The best part of my Friday is that I have today off work, so I slept in, went to a yoga class, am getting lots of homework/errands done and am going out with friends tonight! Have a great weekend :)

Reply

Oh I am so glad! I hope you love them so much. LOVE that you have today off… keep enjoying! Thanks Mariah, you too!

Reply

I just had to comment about the temperature…there is a “Hazardous Weather Outlook” for now and through this weekend due to windchills of -25 to -35 degrees. During the day! So, feel free to send warm thoughts, well, warm anything to North Dakota! :)

Reply

OH NO!! Valerie that is way too cold! Stay inside please and drink lots of hot chocolate!

Reply

Looking forward to having nothing on the schedule this weekend (except running)!

Laundry oops for me this week – forgot to switch a load of sheets and bedding from the washer to the dryer and they sat there overnight, so they had to be rewashed.

Best part of my Friday, other than a challenging yet fun workout in the gym this morning, is that I’ve been pretty busy at work all day so the time has flown by! One more hour til I can go home.

I live in coastal SC so it’s almost always shorts weather here, especially for running! Looks like it’ll be in the 60s for my long run tomorrow morning = definitely shorts!

Reply

I am looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow! It’s the small things lol… best part of my Friday so far is I’ve been especially grateful and aware of all if my abundant blessings. Sadly this isn’t always the case. We are experiencing a lot of rain and mild temps right now. Snow is in the forecast tomorrow though.

I tried the code for Megans program and it didn’t work. Maybe I am doing something wrong?

Reply

OH NO!! So she just checked and it should still be working. Did you put in the code where it says “add coupon”?! I hope it works and if not let me know and we will figure it out!

Reply

Loved today’s remarks about leggings and wash! But I can’t seem to locate Megan’s app that you mention, or see it on her website for which you provided the link. Everything seems to be regular price. Any advice? Just started marathon training this week and strength training is much on my mind! Am I just being dense?

Reply

Hello friend! Yes yes yes… do you see where it says ADD Coupon? That is where you put this–> HRG2020

OK, Not blaming Andrew here but being a nurse, I can’t tell you how many times I have washed a pen with my scrubs. We HAD to wear white when I started (about a million years ago) and I was forever ruining my white uniforms. FYI hairspray makes a great stain remover for ink spots if you catch it before you put in wash!

Reply

HAHAHA it was definitely Andrew:) . White… I cannot imagine ever keeping those clean. Good to know about hairspray, thank you!!!

Reply

I’ll take the 60 degs temps this weekend even if it means rain!

I recently washed a pink & red yoga towel with my brand new white tank and lulu long sleeve. Ooooooops! The good news…they are now a sweet baby pink color so I’m totally ok with it.

Have an amazing weekend!

Reply

Wait, does that mean you can read while running on the treadmill?! How? Please share any and all tricks you have for not getting dizzy and also not re-reading the same line over and over. I’m impressed.

Reply

K wait, HOW can you read at that pace?! I’m seriously impressed! I always want to read on the treadmill but struggle unless I’m walking SLOW haha. Also I’m excited to try those leggings, thanks for sharing!

Reply

I’ve had success with rubbing alcohol and q-tips getting ink out of clothes (Lots of practice as my sweet and dear husband used to leave pens in his pockets all the time ?). Good luck!

Reply

Quick question on the tights…do they have a drawn string and if not, they stay up while running?

Reply

I’m not a regular commented but just HAD to because YES those drops are the BEST!! And RIP pen AND clothes (those are my ultimate fave pens—the pilot G2s!)… I have a 3 and 5 year old and my pocket checking needs to improve A LOT if I’m going to keep doing mixed loads of clothes—some serious close calls with my workout stuff!

We got snow in dallas Saturday morning, hooray! (It melted by noon but I’ll take it!!) have a good
One!
