It is absolutely beautiful in Utah right now which makes these CIM training miles even better!

Monday:  8 miles @ 8:51 pace.

Tuesday:  8 miles @ 9:01 average.

Wednesday:  Treadmill—> 5 miles @ 9:00 pace.

Thursday:  11.22 miles total with 3 @ 6:20 pace in the middle.   Our coach told us to do 3-5 miles @ 6:15 but 3 @ 6:20 is what our bodies had.  It just takes time to recover from marathons and I know that my coach will guide us to CIM perfectly!

It was SO fun to run into my dad on this run right at the end of our 3 fast miles. He was out for a walk with his friend on the same trail!

Friday:  6.1 miles @ 8:25 average

Saturday:  12.13 total with the Runner’s Corner crew.  The first 3 miles I did with the team and then I started my float (none of the people training for CIM were able to make it to this run so I was on my own).  The float was meant to feel not as hard as a tempo but not as easy as an easy run.  My miles were between 6:40 and 7:15… 6:40 on the down and 7:15 on the ups (rolling course).  A 7:00 on the flats felt very comfortable which I was excited about.  I just need to work on more uphill stuff!

Waffles at Runner’s Corner afterwards!

Sunday:  Off!

50.47 miles for the week!  Excited to see what this next week includes.

Worst run was today, just didn’t feel great. Luckily it got rid of my crummy stomach ( have an IBS flare that is getting better but yesterday was not good and I woke up so nauseous). I wanted to just do 4 miles and I did stop at 4.25 but it’s odd how at mile 3.5 I always feel like I could then go a lot more no matter how awful those first 3 felt!! I did 8 Friday and that felt really ok. Have my longest run so far coming this Friday.

Question for anyone. At night putting my knees together hurts, sometimes even wakes me up. It’s so strange. I usually sleep on my back but if I turn to my side it really hurts and I hate sleeping with a pillow between my knees. This is something that really started with the increase in running but does not at all correspond to higher mileage days. I am at a low weight (for me) but certainly still have muscle, etc.

Good luck on Friday!! Okay, IBS is the worst and I’m so so sorry you have to deal with that. Glad the run could help that out at least and today’s run is a good sign that your next one will be amazing! Can anyone help out Carrie with her knees?

Hi Carrie. I sleep on my side but I always put one leg way out from the other, kind of like when you are in a running stride. It does sometimes cause some shoulder pain to sleep like that, but that has been my sleeping position forever. I did buy one of those knee pillows from Amazon (whichever one had the most reviews}. It is definitely more comfy than a regular pillow, but I ended up not using it, just not my thing I guess. Also – sorry about your IBS, hope you are feeling better!

The knee pillow I bought is actually on sale now for less than $20! Might be worth a shot…

My Saturday long run started with a plan for 19 miles, but it clicked so well that I ended with 20 ? Isn’t that just the BEST? Afterward we hit up the pumpkin patch with 2 littles and it was a perfectly gorgeous, fun-filled day (ending with ice cream cones ?)
Today I have a 90 minute cross training workout and it is looking like a bike ride around the bay on another beautiful day!
7 weeks until CIM! ???

After church, I am rolling and frying lefse to take to Park City on Wednesday. How far are you from Sundance? I like the hike to Stewart’s Falls, simple but beautiful.

That reminds me that we need to get to Park City soon. I also need to try Lefse! Oh we love that hike too! Sundance is pretty close to us… it’s amazing to have such views in our backyard! Have a great day Heidi!

Could you remind me again what CIM stands for??

Ran a new half pr today at the Runner’s World Half Festival in Bethlehem, PA! Certainly wasn’t my best effort after on and off hip pain for the past 2 weeks following a marathon, but I’ll take it!

GO CAITLIN!!! AHHHHHH That is HUGE and that is a tough course!! Way to go! I hope you are celebrating big time!

Ran a great 1/2 marathon today in Prince Edward Island! Beautiful day running with friends…can’t beat it!!

Worst run this week was a little 6k easy ru. Which didn’t feel easy at all. Legs felt pretty good today though so happy they picked an easy run day to be cranky.

WAY TO GO JENNIFER on your 1/2 today… and with friends! Isn’t it crazy how our legs can flip flop so much? I hope you have a great night!

My best run this week was yesterday when I ran my first ultra…50 miles! Did it in 10:19 with over 5000 ft of elevation gain. Seriously amazed by what my body can do at 42 years old and the amount of soreness today;), but I’m with you though, I don’t think I’ll ever do another one. Maybe a 50k, but no more than that! You’re gonna crush it at CIM Janae!

AHHHH JEN! You are absolutely incredible. Your 50 miler had way more gain than mine… UNREAL! Huge congrats to you and recover well:) . YES… a 50k (maybe I’ll copy you in that)! Thanks so much and I hope you just feel so incredibly proud!

I also really enjoyed this one. I listened to the audiobook, which is read by the author, and i can highly recommend it on audio. After I DNF’d Tiffany Haddish book (I really didn’t agree with some of that woman’s choices), this was a great, thoughtful book.
