Brooke and Knox’s Race Recap

Hello!  I have Brooke’s cross-country race recap (from Thursday) and Knox’s School Fun Run (from Friday) recap for you today!  I put the pictures on and then they told me what to type for each picture:).   Here are their thoughts.  I’m pretty sure they’ll be taking over this blog in the next few years:

Brooke:

The day of my race I drank lots of water.  I didn’t run at recess because I had a race.

Mama checked me out at the end of the day and then I put on my shorts and I went to the field to do my race.  I put on mama’s watch and my necklace.

Mama and Dada were cheering for me and Knox.  Mama was running with me and Dada was running with Knox.

IMG 5706

The race was fun.  I ran in three fields.  I was faster than mama.  Mama did not have her running shoes.

IMG 5643

I saw lots of trees and they helped me know where to go.

IMG 5679

There were lots of people.  Knox did not like it.

IMG 5717

I ran in the middle of the field.  My legs were very tired and I was very thirsty.  I like to run on the grass.  I was tired after the race.

IMG 5692

I was happy that I got a popsicle.  It felt good to see the finish line.

IMG 5696

Knox got a blue one and I got a red one.  Skye got a white one and she threw it on the ground.  I got one more bead for my cross country necklace.

IMG 5705

I drank Gatorade.  It was yummy.

IMG 5722

I used mama’s boots to make my legs feel good.  My legs felt better.  I want to do a race again.  I like running more than riding a bike.

IMG 5724

Knox didn’t love the first race so he told me he wanted to talk about the 2nd race instead (he decided last second to do the 2nd one and he is glad he did because he rocked it… he ran with Andrew and I ran with Brooke and they passed us so I didn’t get finishing pictures).

IMG 5700

I had Chex for breakfast.  I liked this race.  I saw so many friends from my class running too.

IMG 5775

I had fun cause I went slow then went fast at the finish line.  I ran with Dada and Skye.  I saw Brooke and Janae too.

IMG 5773

I ran with Brooke for a minute.

IMG 5758

I held on to the stroller.  I was cold.  I ran fast and my legs were tired.

IMG 5756

After the race I signed my name and my friend came home to play with me.  I do want to do this again but not if it’s hot outside and next time I want a medal or trophy, I don’t care which one.

What are you doing today?!

How old were you when you started running?

I’ll have the kids read the comments today so feel free to tell them hello:)

I love this post Janae, right after I read it Proverbs 22:6 came to my mind, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” I don’t have kids but you are such an inspiration to moms, women with no kids, and most of all to Brooke and Knox. No matter if it’s based on running, eating well, loving yourself for how He made you, working hard, and being a follower of Christ.

Brooke and Knox, I really enjoyed your all’s race recap and I look forward to seeing more posts from you all!

Great job Brooke and Knox! You both did awesome and I enjoyed reading your race reports – you are both great at writing race reports too. I am like Knox because my favorite races are when it is cold not hot and I like to get a medal or a trophy too! Thank you for sharing about your races – it makes me want to run a race soon.

Congrats Brooke and Knox!! I loved reading about your race. Keep up the good work!!

I was in 7th grade when I ran my first race. A one mile fun run before a 5k :)

Brooke and Knox! I LOVEDyour race recaps! Excellent job at running and then telling us all about it! I hate running when it’s hot, too, so I totally understand, Knox. Keep up the great work you two! ?‍♀️??‍♂️??

I ran track & did lots of team sports in high school, but did all of the sprints. I was speedy speedy. But in college I started running when I had a fitness class. I entered the turkey trot 5K there at school, and the teacher said if we placed in the top 3 we’d get an automatic A. I ended up getting 3rd in women, so got my A ! (My professor was surprised!). I was hooked.

Our local Fleet Feet store is having a donut run today if the weather holds. Three donuts in three miles. One of my favorite runs!

Way to go Brooke and Knox, sounds like you both had great races and I loved your race recaps. Getting a medal is really nice but I bet it also felt good to give your mom and dad a high five at the end because you just ran excellent races! I hope you run more races and writing recaps for us. Knox I live in Nova Scotia Canada and I wear gloves a lot during races just like you. I don’t like for my hands to be cold.

Great job you guys! Running can be so fun and sometimes not so much fun too (especially when it’s hot!) I’m so glad you were both able to find something you liked about the races and finished even though it was hard. I bet everyone is so proud of you… you should be proud of you too :) I’m not sure if I’ve ever had a popsicle after a race?! But yours looked so yummy, I’ll be sure to grab one next time! And NOT throw it on the ground ;)

For Brooke and Knox, from Hope.
“I am 4 and I like to run like you. Best part about the last time I went running was jelly beans after.”

Happy Sunday Janae. ❤️

Way to go Brooke and Knox!!!! I did a cross country race when I was in Kindergarten and it was scary to me because I thought for sure I was going to get trampled or lost. You both did incredible!!! Popsicles after a run or race is THE BEST!!!! Your race reports were fantastic and I hope to read more from you about races or soccer/baseball games (or swim meets, tennis, whatever you are doing at the time! Do all different sports now-it makes you strong and it’s also SO FUN!!!)

Happy Weekend!!1

Great job, Brooke and Knox! I am a first grade teacher, and I hope my students did something fun like that this weekend. You got exercise, spent time with your family, helped your mom write about it, AND got popsicles. Sounds like a pretty perfect day to me! I hope you continue to do the things that make you happy, and share your experiences with us. Way to go!

Brooke and Knox – ya’ll both look like awesome runners, stick with it!

I just recently started studying some running analysis videos since I’m going to PT – and you could seriously use some of Brooke’s photos for proper running form! Knox looks great too!

I started running in middle school, but we had no organized cross country back then. I ran track all 4 years in high school, but only started running distance my senior year. I ran sprints and hurdles prior to that.

Congratulations and great job on both of your races! Having fun is the most important thing.Janae- in one of those pictures of Brooke with her topknot in running action ( The picture before her showing her watch ) she looks like you did at your 2:59 marathon. Super determined and focused:)

I LOVED this recap!!! Way to go Knox and Brooke, you both did absolutely amazing!! I started running in my early 20s!!! I was on the cross country team in ninth grade and then quit cause I didn’t like it very much!! What can I say, running does not come naturally to me … I’ve really had to work to see the positives in it!!

Loved this! Great job guys. It’s fun to try and do things to find out what you do and don’t like. Also, you don’t have to do races to run the fastest, sometimes it’s just about being involved and having fun!

I started running at 12 years old. Impressed with your littles.
