Would you ever do this, A Hydrafacial & Temple Date.

I did not run 21 miles, I did 12 miles but I put the wrong fingers up for the picture.

26.4 miles in two days.  Yesterday morning reminded me that I really am much more of an early morning runner than I am a later morning runner.  My entire body (especially my stomach) feels so much better when I run early.  BUT it is really great for training that we are running in the late morning/early afternoon for our long runs because on race day we will running for 12ish hours throughout the day so it’s good to get used to doing this now.  Maybe we need to do one of our long runs in the evening for training?!   I got in about 600 feet of climbing and did an 8:39 average pace.

I’m ready for more light in the mornings… anyone else?!

Random running thought—> Isn’t it fun when you run more miles than you drive in a day?  I love it when that happens.

I went to wake up Brooke and it took us a minute to find Beretta.  She usually sleeps on the kid’s beds but maybe she needed a darker spot to truly get in some beauty rest.

And then we were off for the day.

IMG 2091

During Skye’s nap I  had a Hydrafacial.  I found a Black Friday deal on them and have heard so many great things about them so I was excited to try it out.  They used suction cups and all sorts of random little machines and products on my face (skin care is another language to me but I’m really trying to figure it all out).

My face felt so much more alive and soft afterwards.

IMG 2102

Harry & David pears from my mom.  These are better than candy.

IMG 2106

Why play with the box full of toys when DVDs are much more fun to play with.

IMG 2125

Skye cuddled with me for a total of .004 seconds.

IMG 2120

Brookester leaves on Friday and I’m sure going to miss her.  Andrew is the best and is flying her out to Northern California and then back home the same day.  Then he will be doing that again next week to bring her back home.

IMG 2128

The sunset was unreal last night… everything looked golden.

IMG 2133

Andrew and I went to the temple.  One of our family’s best friend adopted a little girl and they were sealed (an ordinance done in the temple to unite families for eternity) and we were able to be there for the ceremony.

IMG 2137

IMG 2138

The girls were over at Candice’s house.  We got to catch up and eat candy when we picked them up.

IMG 2139

And then we picked up chick-fil-a for a very late dinner.  The worker told us to try mixing their ranch and buffalo sauce, he is a genius.

IMG 2142

This is pretty funny… package thieves, watch out!

Andrew and I were watching a clip on Youtube where James Corden and Tom Cruise go sky (I typed this as Skye 3 times before spelling it correctly) diving… Which brought up a conversation of things we would absolutely never ever do.  PS watching Carpool Karaoke might be my favorite thing to watch… have you seen the one with the Red Hot Chili Peppers?

My #1 Never Ever Will I:  Bungee Jumping.  Andrew went bungee jumping in Zambia and dropped over 300 ft off of a bridge.  I can’t even imagine.  Also, is it just me or does the blanket wrapped around his ankles make this just look so incredibly dangerous?

IMG 2062

Would you ever bungee jump?  If no, how much would someone have to pay you to do it?

Do you ever get facials?  What type is your favorite?

Have you ever had anything stolen?

What is the best part of your Wednesday going to be?

That blanket around his ankles – NOOOOOO!!!!

Ok so before my kids I was fairly adventurous. I went sky diving twice, repelled down a waterfall in Ecuador, climbed an icy volcano in Patagonia, etc. However, the one thing that I would never, ever, ever do is bungee jump! Everything about it looks dangerous and painful!!! It’s funny now that I have two kids, I won’t do any of the above. I guess my idea of adventure is very different now :)

Ps: there is something about your trail runs, especially with the mountains and snowy background that just seems so peaceful and it makes me jealous I don’t have that kind of scenery nearby!

COME JOIN ME CAITLIN and I’ll take you on some trail runs:) . You have had some unreal adventures… wow. I’m right there with you once I had Brooke, I stopped anything risky! I hope you are having a wonderful day!

If you like carpool karaoke, watch Migos do Whitney Houston. It will turn any frown upside down. So funny!

I can’t wait… now the question is do I wait to watch it with Andrew or just watch it twice today:) . Thanks Erica!

Bugee jumping: NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER.
EVER.
That being said, the best part of my wednesday will be going for a hot chocolate date with myself and the very good book I’m reading!
Have a nice day!

Best date out there… I need to join you in that today during nap time. Thank you Florence, you too! PS I totally agree with you about bungee jumping!

You make a really good point about needing to consider your runs at different times in the day like practice for how your body might feel at different points in your really long run. Do you think that different times in the day might also change the way that food-as-fuel looks for you throughout the run (like–half of a peanut butter sandwich might be great at one point but maybe cinnamon, sugar, vanilla whey protein and butter mixed together and rolled up in a tortilla might seem yummy at a very different time of the day and during your run???)? Is that even a thing, or is it going to just all be peanut butter, skittles, and whatever fuel the race provides?

I have only been to Chick-Fil-A *twice* in my life–once when Tom and I were driving to Savannah for our wedding weekend (it was the only thing that sounded good to him so I obliged) and once when we were at the airport at dark-early-o’thirty in the day and CFA was the only food thing open and we knew we needed breakfast. I have a very specific thing against Chick Fil A that’s a bit too much to go into right now (someplace so public and two-dimensional), and it’s linked to a lot of the same reasoning why I really love Marriott hotels and will seek them out when it’s time for a hotel-stay somewhere and airbnb just won’t do the trick…

I have not had a facial in a VERY VERY LONG TIME (like over 10 years), but I remember loving them. I always got the most basic-sounding facial at the Aveda salon that I went to. It smelled so good! Now, instead, I am happier to put my money on massages. Wish I could afford both, but I can’t. Oh well.

This afternoon Tom and I are going downtown for an exhibit at the High Museum of Art. I have been so excited for the Yayoi Kusama exhibit, “Infinity Mirrors,” since I heard about her last spring and about this coming to Atlanta, and on the day that ticket sales were open to the public in August Tom surprised me with tickets. He knows that art is important to me, and I think he kind of hates that we haven’t been to the local museums yet. And I am touched that he wanted to make sure–no matter how busy, stressed, or strapped for cash we always seem to be–that I don’t miss out on things that I love so dearly. That one sure is a keeper!!!

I know you will miss Brooke a lot while she’s gone. But know this: I think you’re doing great, mama. From how you curate your life on your blog, you do this amazing thing of really showing how you take a stand for Brooke to be–as you’ve said before–loved as much as possible by as many people as possible. And you know that she needs her dad to love her and she needs to spend time with her dad whom she loves back. The best gift you can ever give her is taking a stand for their relationship and holding space for Brooke to spend the time she can with him and build the memories that will help remind her, when life gets tough when she’s an independent adult, that she is so loved.

Oh I totally think that the fuel will switch up with the different times of day we are running… so much to figure out! That tortilla roll-up sounds amazing. Oh I hope that you guys have had the best time at the exhibit… sounds incredible!
Thank you so much Stephanie! I really appreciate what you said and it was even more motivation to continue to do the right thing! Have a beautiful time with Tom, you two are the perfect match and love so deeply!

Why are those pears so much better? Do you order them online? I shall Google now!
NO NO NO to bungee-jumping like that – that blanket looks terrifying. How did it not come off?!?!?!?
YES to sky-diving. I’m waiting for a thrill-seeking boyfriend to join me :)
I need that candy spread in my life.
I started a Run Club in Columbus as soon as I moved here, because my old run club was the BEST, and I hosted the first speed workout at 6 AM this morning. It was awesome! I am a morning runner. I run easy miles with my run club on Monday evenings, and you can probably guess what happened when I tried to do a speed workout in the evening… I stick to easy miles now :) It’s definitely a different feel, so yeah, I would make sure you’re doing some evening runs too.
Have a great day!

Someone sent them to my mom as a gift and she shared (I don’t know if I am nearly as good of a person as her because I don’t think I would share). You’ll have to let me know when you go sky diving with your upcoming adventurous boyfriend! Good for you to start a run club… I wish so bad I could come. Thanks Miranda, you too!

Reply

Nope, I don’t trust that cord. What if it snapped in half? I would sky dive before I bungee jump! And someone would have to pay me a million dollars to consider bungee jumping.

Reply

Exactly. I cannot trust those ropes. I hope you are having a great day Jenny… these temperatures are UNREAL!

When I was a kid we were on vacation at Disney in Florida and our rental car was stolen from our hotel parking lot. It was a Chrysler Fifth Avenue (ooo ahh) which we thought was the height of luxury – certainly the fanciest car I had ever ridden in. I think it was replaced with a Dodge Dynasty – lol gotta love 80s autos.

Reply

That is crazy it was stolen! I just googled that Chrysler and yep… fancy.com! That is probably why it was stolen:) I hope you are having a great day Amanda.

I would NEVER bungee jump or walk across one of those crazy rickety bridges like you see in Costa Rica! No, no, no! I am scared of heights. I was too afraid to climb the Key West Lighthouse last summer; there’s no way I could do those other much more scary things!!!

I have given myself facials at home, but I’ve never actually gotten one DONE at a place. Story for you though—I went to my dermatologist’s office yesterday b/c the holiday season and lack of sleep has made me see the need for a stronger eye cream. Hello dark circles and lines from sleep deprivation! Well, while I was there, an older gentleman came in and bought a $1000 gift certificate for his wife for Christmas. Holy freaking moly!!!!!!

I am hoping the best part of my Wednesday is yet to come. I woke up to our cats having knocked over our Christmas tree, and then the DVD player/connect to the projector at school in my classroom wasn’t working, so I couldn’t show the movie I had planned. HELP ME!!!!! ha ha

I have a feeling today’s run will be a de-stressing one :)!!!!! Hope your day is a great one!!!!!

Reply

I’m right there with you on avoiding bridges that look like they could crumble in a second. WOW… that lady is spoiled this season haha:) . I hope that the rest of your day has improved and that your run let’s go of all of your worries. Thanks Jen, winter break is almost here (TEACHERS NEED BREAKS)!

Carpool Karaoke is the best !!!! I was watching the one with Pink while at the gym, when they were upside down trying to sing, I had to stop my treadmill because I was laughing so hard. I had a few sideways looks from other gym people, but that’s ok. I went Bungee Jumping ! About 20 some years ago. I don’t remember how far the drop was, but I’ll never do it again. Pretty sure people back home heard me scream when I slowly started going over the edge for the drop. I started hesitating so the instructor nudged / lightly pushed me. ha It was the scariest kind of awesome. But the part that makes me never do it again was, when tied at the ankles, when you initially take the first bounce, it was like my brain squashed to the top of my head or something. My head and eyes just felt weird for several hours afterwards. Even my friends kept saying how strange my eyes looked. It didn’t hurt, but it didn’t feel right. But the thrill of it and everything was amazing !!

Reply

OH MY GOODNESS… that part was hilarious! I love Pink so much.
You did it. Wow! Okay, the squishing brain thing… no thank you! You are BRAVE. I hope you are having a great day Michele!

Reply

I can’t really claim the Brave title. It was more like young and not fully knowing what I was in for. lol

BIG FAT NO to bungee jumping!! Sounds terrifying!!
I love getting facials! My friend is an esthetician and I just let her do whatever she thinks I need.
Your photos are so amazing (mountains, trails, sunset, Temple). We’ve had some really pretty sunsets/sunrises in TX lately and I just love all the beautiful pics.
The best part of my Wednesday will be going to the gym tonight. The next few days are going to be so busy, I need to sweat out some anxiety :)

Reply

Oh that is so great that your friend does whatever she thinks your skin needs… awesome! Keep enjoying those gorgeous sunsets and sunrises. GO GET THAT ANXIETY OUT TONIGHT–> I did the same thing this morning! Thanks Elizabeth.

Reply

I did that same jump in Zambia in 2010, the coolest part was the bridge is on the border between 2 countries so you actually jump in “no mans land” . Scariest part is a girl who jumped the year or two after us had the rope snap , she was very bruised up but ok , they had kayakers who pulled her out of the water – still might be the last jump I make!

Reply

YOU DID?!! Amanda, you are so so brave! I bet your trip there in 2010 was amazing. I’m amazed that girl made it out with just some bruising. I would think that someone would die from that! I hope you are having a beautiful day Amanda!

Reply

I am a wuss and would never do anything crazy and OMG that picture of Andrew bungee jumping is making my heart race!! How did he come out alive? Ha! Craziest I get it MAYBE jumping off the high dive at the pool!

Reply

Hahah even the high dive is a little freaky!? I hope you are having a really great day!

Reply

I couldn’t go bungee jumping!!! Maybe the small scale kind at the fair but never a 300 foot kind. No no no!
I have never gone to get a facial done but I love doing charcoal masks. I still tend to have breakouts like an awkward middle school girl so I need to do whatever I can to make my face happy.
My brother and I are headed out to do a trail run today. We haven’t done trails in a while because of school or rain so I’m excited to spend some time with him doing that!

Reply

I need to grab a charcoal masks… I am right there with you on the 13 year old breakouts. I swear my skin gets worse with acne as I age. I hope your trail run was really great today… nothing like it! Enjoy the rest of your day.

I did bungee jump in Thailand, it was 100 ft. I collected my courage for one hour and then I decided to do it. I considered bungee as the only thing I’m afraid of and I thought I had to do it to get rid of fear. I was afraid when I was up in the air about to jump but I knew I had to jump immediately as otherwise my fear would creep up. I felt so relieved when I was down. I like having control and here you have no control, you have tied ankles and nothing to hold on to.
Maybe Macao would be an option for Andrew, it’s the largest in the world :).

Reply

I am all about having control too! You are so brave Damjana! DON’T PUT THOUGHTS IN ANDREW’S HEAD;) . I had to look up Macao bungee jumping… that is unreal!

Reply

I’ve gone both bungee jumping and sky diving. I loved it!

Reply

You are a brave woman! I’ve done sky diving too but for some reason I could never get the courage to bungee jump! I hope you are having a wonderful day Becky.

Reply

I love full body massages. I get one almost every week. But for some reason facials make me feel claustrophobic and like I’m going to pass out. Ha!

I would never bungee jump! No amount of money to get me to do it

Reply

A full body massage sounds HEAVENLY right this second… maybe I need to copy you. Hahah I’m right there with you on the bungee jumping. I hope you are having a great day so far Amanda!

Reply

No way could I do that jump! I get freaked out going up on the ski lift. ?
Wed plans to fold laundry, kid pick ups and now thinking Chick fil A dinner because your fries were calling my name. I think it’s only fair to give my oven a break, we made lots of cookies yesterday.
I agree early morning running is so much better. Half asleep and not being able to see too far in front of you makes time fly.

Reply

Hahaha I forgot about that… the ski lift totally freaks me out too especially when the kids are on it with us! Yep, you need Chick fil a. Big time! Send some cookies over;).

You make a VERY excellent point… in the dark you don’t see how far you have to go ahead of you. Yes and yes. Have a beautiful rest of your day Lauren!

I’m more than ready for more daylight. I actually look up the dates when sunset gets later (just happened here on Monday 12/17) and sunrise gets earlier (come on January 11th!) so I can celebrate miniscule differences in my daily light intake :) sunrisesunset.com
Never would I ever bungee jump. Doubtful I would ever skydive, either, but the force of the boing at the end of the bungee really freaks me out.
I’ve had things stolen from my car when it was parked in my driveway. People just wander through and open unlocked car doors. They usually just take change and random things, but one time they took both my GPS and my camera–I was heartbroken to lose that SD card from the camping trip we had just taken.
The best part of my Wednesday should be sweating out my stress and frustrations at the gym, but just in case, I also picked up a dark chocolate hazelnut bar on my lunch break. Can’t be too careful!
Have a beautiful Wednesday, Janae!

Reply

I’ve never seen that website before.. it’s awesome! We are getting closer to earlier sunrises wahoo. Oh that is terrible that they stole your camera and GPS. WHO DOES THAT?! Enjoy every bite of that chocolate bar and that was very smart of you to grab one. Thanks Corey, you too!

Reply

I would never ever bungee jump. It honestly terrifies me. It’s not normal to jump off something so high it would kill you and trust a rope to catch you….just not normal. I think you’d have to pay me probably realistically 100 million…..even then, there is a good chance I would chicken out. ?

I’ve never had a facial but sounds like a relaxing thing to do. I also don’t think I’ve had something stolen. I might have but it can’t have been anything important so doesn’t count. As kids my sister (5 years younger) used to steal ALL my things so if I couldn’t find anything I’d just go look under her pillow and most of the time it was there! She was probably between 4-8 when she did that.

My Wednesday is already finished, the best part was decluttering the kids toys in time for Christmas so there would be places to put the new things. The best part of Thursday will be finishing Christmas shopping (I know, I’ve left it last minute) and probably my run. I’m craving me time today!!

Merry Christmas to you and your family xox

Reply

Hahah I totally agree with what you are saying… I just can’t trust that rope! Haha at least you knew right where to find it! Oh I need to do that big time with the toys here. Enjoy your shopping and run tomorrow. Have a beautiful evening Leigh!

Reply

NO! I would never bungee jump/sky dive. I have cried at the top of a ladder and on some hikes. I hate heights!

I’ve never had anything stolen; however, I have had someone sell me a very sick puppy and then threaten me like crazy when I contacted the police. I would love to send them that package! Like it’s mean, but not really.

The best part of my Wednesday is getting off at noon! My students are taking finals today and our testing system went down… So I guess I’ll be grading a bunch of finals at noon. Ha! We also have a staff party at our house for lunch and then a dinner with our local running group, so it’ll be a super fun day!

Reply

Sky diving/bungee jumping is definitely not for you! Okay, that is crazy about the puppy. What did you end up doing? Enjoy the staff party and dinner with your running group. Sounds perfect!

One of them was arrested when the humane society officer checked their property because he was a felon with a weapon and bullets on the property. And we sued in small claims court and won but probably won’t ever see anything. We’re still working with the DA’s office for a fraud case and in the meantime I’ve changed my cell number and all of my social media is now private. Whew! Scary stuff.

I bungee jumped in NZ when I was in college. Right before I got on the plane to fly there my dad said “whatever you do, don’t bungee jump.” As I was free falling the after the dive down (scariest thing ever) I remember thinking that my dad was going to be very mad. I’d never bungee jump again. I was off kilter for days and sometimes think I’m more motion sensitive because of it!

I think it’s amazing and wonderful that Andrew flies Brooke to and from California. Very sweet and is probably a huge relief to you knowing she’s taken care of! You have a great family, Janae!

Reply

WOW… I can’t even imagine what that must have felt like! My dad said something similar before I went to hawaii and went sky diving there… good thing they forgive ha:) . That is not great that it messed up your motion sensitivities though!
It really is so nice of him to do it. I hit the jackpot. I hope you are having a beautiful day Kelly!

Reply

I think I would only try bungee jumping if it were free. Even better if I got paid! The main part of it that deters me is worrying that it would be painful but I imagine they’ve made sure it isn’t.

I worked at Chick-fil-A for 9 hours today so I’m so done looking at their food haha. Not really sure what to do with the rest of my evening now that I have no energy left.

What shoes are you wearing?

When I spent a summer in New Zealand – I went bungee jumping 3 times! I LOVE it!! It is sooo fun!! Though I prefer the shorter ones (the ones I did were like 150-180 ft). I would do it again in a heartbeat. You get to feel like flying and bounce back and do it again. It is bringing back such good memories!! Maybe I’m crazy.

But I love all those things – sky diving, rapelling down waterfalls, hang gliding (that might be my favorite), paragliding etc. all some major highlights!

Reply

I went bungee jumping with my husband on our honeymoon in New Zealand! We went tandem, so that made it less scary! Funny story, one of the workers was telling us a story about a guy who wanted to go down the scariest way so they told him to jump backwards. Right when he jumped off they all yelled No await! And held the end of a rope… the guy’s face was pretty terrified! Of course everything was ok!
I love all facials! There used to be one 2 blocks from my house so I would go during a lunch break at work, but she moved to a bigger spot and it’s less convenient so I don’t go as often. But they are so amazing! Along with massages!
We are driving to STL from Denver tomorrow for the holidays to visit our families! But this year we’ll have a 6 month in tow along with our dog, so hopefully it goes well! So today I’m getting ready trying to do laundry, wrap presents, and start packing. Also gave my dog a much needed bath. So hopefully that helps with the hair!

Reply

I bungee jumping for my 13th bday and did it 4 times in a row. I’d NEVER do it as an adult now. I love facials except steam ones make me feel like I can’t breathe. The best part of my Wednesday was my Kindergartener at the Christmas program today. Also, I’m eating a salad from Harmon’s with grapes. ☺️

Reply

Guuuurrrrl! I would NEVER go bungee jumping! I have to be super careful with my back and that just seems dangerous for you alignment!
Good for you starting facials! I wish I would have started younger. I thought facials were just a waste of money, I mean, it’s just washing your face–right?! WRONG! I have the best and cutest esthetician (sp?) who has turned back the clock on my face! I go regularly now and it makes such a difference!
Have a great day!
