Silentish Saturday!

7 miles with my sister @ 9:13 pace… she is getting stronger and stronger (but was too tired at the end to be in a picture with me;)

Seen on our run (I need to bring our kids back here to see).

My mother in law is in town to visit us (let’s be honest to visit her 6 month old grandson), so we will be hanging out with her, watching some football then a date night for me and my husband bc mother in law is in town!

Reply

Have the best time on date night:) You made me laugh saying she was there to visit your son haha! ENJOY!

Senior pictures for my son and bonus son. Pray for no rain drops. Going to Michaels to check out their Christmas decorations sale and working at my bonus sons school where we our hosting State Playoff football games.

Reply

Oh I really hope it doesn’t rain! I should go and do that too to find Christmas decorations! Enjoy the game!

Reply

Haha we freeze cookies so that we don’t eat them all at once but then we remember how tasty frozen cookies are so it doesn’t help. My parents are visiting and we made 5 kinds of cookies in the past two days so we are going to have a ton of frozen cookies, oops :).

Reply

Hahaha yeah that probably defeats the purpose! FIVE KINDS… you have to let me know which ones are the best. Have a wonderful day with your parents!

Enjoying every second with my granddaughter (1 year old). After she leaves, cleaning out my daughters closet (so very overdue). And hopefully managing a quick run on the treadmill (getting messy snow here). Then I think hot chocolate is on the list. It’s ironic, as much as we love summer and we love summer and being outside and active, there’s just something about a messy winter day that keeps you inside and spend a different kind of special time together.

Reply

Oh that sounds perfect… enjoy your time with her! You are getting a lot of snow?! I think we will next week. Enjoy the hot chocolate and staying inside!

Reply

Frozen cookies are the only way to eat chocolate chip cookies!
1. Avoiding looking outside to see how much snow fell last night.
2. Bake cookies.
3. Complete my Thanksgiving dish list.

Reply

Oh I am so glad you love them that way too! Stay warm today and have some hot chocolate with the cookies.

Reply

My husband just talked me into a cross crountry race at noon today complete with creek crossings….it’s currently snowy and 30 degrees here. What am I thinking?!?! There is a soup buffet afterwards and there better be hot chocolate! We went from seeing a movie for our kid free day to running this race. I know how Andrew feels now. Wish me luck.

Reply

GO CORRINNE GO!! The post food/drink reward is totally worth it. You are strong and you are going to rock it. Hahaha poor Andrew;)

Reply

Oh I love that Brooke has a girls day wig her grandma. My grandma used to do that and me and all my girl cousins loved it so much!! Then they would do a boys day too but they didn’t seem to care as much. Us girls loved it enough that when we got older and she thought we were done with it we started initiating it so we could have girls das all the time!

Reply

I love that… I have a feeling Brooke is going to request these often now too! Have a beautiful day Jenny… I think this is our last good weekend;)

Reply

I love riding the train! What a fun adventure for Brooke.

I’m juror #12 on a trial that started yesterday, so I need to get all the things done today that I won’t be able to do Monday and Tuesday. Yet here I sit reading and commenting on blogs. #procrastinate Fingers crossed that we finish on Tuesday so Les and I can head out of town as planned on Wednesday before the traffic is too crazy.

Reply

Oh good luck today Kathy and I hope so bad that you are finished on Tuesday! Where are you guys going next week?

Reply

Thanks, Janae! We will be driving to Fresno – it’s about 200 miles but it can be pretty crazy the day before Thanksgiving. We’re planning to spend Black Friday at Yosemite, it’s a bit of a tradition for us if we are in the area for Thanksgiving! https://mcmomentsandmemories.blogspot.com/2012/11/yosemite-2012-hiking-mist-trail.html#comment-form

Reply

Didn’t you get engaged in Yosemite? I swear I remember you saying that! Have the best trip!

Reply

Excellent memory!! I grew up in Fresno, so Yosemite was in our backyard. Les and I have been making trips up there since 1989.

Oh yay!!! I

Frozen cookies is genius!! I don’t know how i never thought of doing that.
I ran 7.34? Miles with my friend today and this week I
got up early and drank coffee/water. It made a big difference last longish run I felt awful thinking tired and maybe dehydration.

Now waiting for furniture to be delivered and cleaning. ?

Reply

GREAT run and I am so glad that helped so much with your hydration! New furniture…wahoo!! Good luck with the cleaning!!!

Reply

That train trip sounds so fun for Brooke!!

Today I: waited for it to warm up to 40F to run (I’m a goon and seeing how many days into November I can wear shorts), vacuumed, and attending the town’s orchestra concert.

I finally watched that “How to run 100 miles” video you posted the other day. It is so well done and cute (yes, cute). I loved it!
Feel free to share more!

Enjoy the ultra reading-I love following it all!

Reply

Oh I’m so glad you liked it, I’ll keep posting them! I wore shorts today too.. the best! Enjoy the concert!

Reply

I’m so proud of your sister! Her training is going so well!!
I tagged along with my hubby to Fresno/Clovis for a water polo championship weekend, so I get to run through Woodward park. It’s so beautiful!! Then, I’ll hang out at the pool and finally start reading Girl Wash Your Face! I’m so excited to read this book ?
I love tagging along on these trips, because it means I don’t feel like I have to be cleaning the house or doing yard work… I just get to relax!
Have a great Saturday!!

Reply

Oh let me know what you think of the book.. life changing for me! Enjoy the relaxing weekend!!!

Reply

First of all, I think it’s SO awesome that you are doing an ultra! It’s been on my list for sooo long, but I have other running goals that conflict. Although I have been thinking about 50k, not sure I’m ready for 50 miles. Lol. But you have inspired me! I think I’ve decided that if I don’t get into Berlin this year, I will do an ultra in the fall ? Either way = win/win.

This weekend my parent-in-law are visiting, so we’ll probably be doing some touristy stuff! I will be doing some running for sure too ?
Today my niece has a soccer tournament so I will probably go to one of her games. This amazing little 6 year old had a jog-a-thon yesterday at school and she completely 16 laps for a total of 4 MILES!! Ok she walked some, but still… I am one proud Auntie!!

I am SUPER excited to have a turkey trot this week, since I’ve been experiencing some serious race withdrawals lately!

Have a fantastic weekend, Janae!!

Reply

Oh I hope you get in to Berlin! But I also want you do to a 50k! Definitely a win-win.4 miles at 6 years old?! Amazing! Let me know how your turkey trot goes, you are going to do amazing!

Reply

Haha sometimes I freeze cookies/cake when I make too much to avoid eating them but it doesn’t work because they’re equally delicious frozen.

Where do you find your episodes of Shark Tank?? I love the show but (at least last time I checked) Hulu just has the same 5 episodes and never gets new ones!

Today I’m running something like 15 miles (done), grocery shopping, and volunteering as a waiter at a Thanksgiving dinner for international students and residents in my city!

Reply

Hulu added like 10 seasons recently! ENJOY… so many episodes now! So cool you are volunteering there and great job on 15!!

Reply

1) 6 miles in freezing rain/sleet/snow mix with 2 mile walking cool down (COOL down is how you should read that).
2) Long, hot shower until I could feel my fingers again, followed by a banana and chocolate-PB-oatmeal cookies.
3) Hmmm…not sure. Lazy day inside the warm house? Lots of reading? Treadmill to get in a few more miles? Date night later? We’ll have to wait and see how motivated me/we are (not a huge chance of a bunch of motivation on a gray, dreary, cold day to be honest. ;) )

Reply

So random–my friend sent me a picture of blacknose sheep yesterday just to show how cute they are, and now I see them on your blog!

1. Making yummy food
2. Yoga (it felt amazing)
3. Cleaning my closet (I’ll feel good when it’s done . . .)

Does Skye have antlers in one of the pictures?? And have you read the book Shoe Dog, about Nike’s co-founder? I’ve heard really good things about it.

Reply

That is a crazy coincedance!! I need to do some yoga and clean my closet ha! Enjoy the yummy food:) she did have antlers on! I have read that book and I absolutely loved it. Read it. Have a great day Kristin!

I have had frozen homemade cookies. Mostly because I’ve put them on the freezer so I won’t eat them….. but then realized they taste good frozen as well?.
Today I’m going to do a long run, walk my dog, and then nap before my night shift.

I want those Christmas running shoes!!!

Reply

I eat frozen homemade cookies all the time.

Basically, I freeze the cookies so I don’t eat them all at once.

Then I get weak…and I’m eating frozen cookies. :)

Reply

1. Cleaning in preparation for in-laws to come into town.
2. See #1
3. See #3
?

Have a great weekend Janae! ❤️

Reply

Er, I meant See #2. Clearly the cleaning products are getting to me. Help! ?

Oh that’s a great book! Lots of good advice.

I went for a 9 mile run because it was beautiful this morning! But oh so cold.
Sitting by the fire place with coffee and a book – just started a book called Boy Erased
Haven’t decided what else I will be doing today – but the weather may get me back outside.

Also, feel free to ask away if you have more questions about ultras:)

Have a super weekend Janae!

My three things today:
1. 5K with my brother. First female overall and he was first for his age group!
2. Watching football while snuggling under a comfy blanket.
3. Night out with a good friend!

Have a great Saturday Janae!

Reply

Sloan, HUGE congrats!!! That is amazing! Sounds like the perfect day, enjoy!

Reply

I’m so glad to know I’m not the only one who likes frozen cookies! I always have some in the freezer, usually the choc chip recipe you posted years ago, those are a big favorite!

Reply

Hi Janae, first congrats on your sub 3 marathon, and second congrats on signing up for your first ultra! I FINALLY started running ultras this year (after wanting to run them for several years but never quite pulled the trigger). I’ve done a 50k and a 40 miler, and plan to do a 50 miler next year. Maybe a 12 hour race, too?? The community is the best, I think you’ll love it. I’ve also been addicted to watching videos on youtube, there’s some really great channels out there!

I’m not sure if you’re interested in any other books about ultras but thought I’d recommend two I read that I really got a lot out of. 1- Running Your First Ultra by Krissy Moehl and The Trail Runner’s Companion by Sarah Lavender Smith.

Keep up the great work!
