Tuesday Tangents, Blushing & How I am Feeling!

I read each and every comment (a few times) from you guys and I can’t thank you enough.  The amount of goosebumps I had from what you said was a new world record.  Thank you.

Well, how am I feeling after my marathon?  Physically= absolutely terrible and mentally = beyond happy and I can’t stop smiling.  Each muscle of my body screams at me each time that I move and the weird part is that my core is the most sore out of everything on my body.  But I kind of love how sore I am because it is a reminder of what happened and it lets me know that I really did leave it all out there.  I think during training we get used to holding some back to avoid overtraining/injury/burn out so when race day comes it sure is a weird feeling to let completely loose.  I’ll probably be really sore for a few more days but that is a-okay with me.   I don’t think the soda/candy/fries/pizza have been great tools for recovery but they have been beyond worth it:)

Movement definitely helps me with the soreness (as long as it does not involve going up or down stairs/hills) so my sister and I went on a mini slow walk yesterday morning.

The kids are not very happy with the weather we are now experiencing.

IMG 5356

There was a lot of resting and relaxing going on at our house.

IMG 5361

This thing is absolute torture because it hurts so much on my legs but hopefully it will help get them feeling normal again faster.

IMG 5313 2

Skye went down for a nap and Andrew was at home doing homework so I went out with the girls for lunch.  It was fun to tell them about the day because each of them have heard about this goal of mine for years at this point.

IMG 5364

I made it over to Trader Joe’s later on too and I ran into one of my favorite people.  I used to work for her (I was her personal assistant= aka the most fun job ever) and she is another person that has heard me talk about my marathon goals for years.  I was so excited to tell her the whole story.

IMG 0085

These. Are. Everything.  I’m really enjoying the post-race eating everything in sight experience that I am taking…

————————————————————————————————————————–

I’ve got a few tangents to share today!

*It’s really nice to not check or think about the weather obsessively.  For a while there I could have told you the wind direction at all times of the day for a 26 mile stretch of land in Southern Utah.  Lesson learned= there is no point in worrying and even if things look bad leading up to the race, they can completely change and turn amazing.

*Candice brought over this goodness the night before I left for St. George.  Dove for my chafing needs (I spread that all over my body before the race = I didn’t chafe ANYWHERE and it was raining for 14 of the miles which usually would make me chafe like crazy ((even if using other chafing creams)), rubber bands for my hair because I use 12 to put my bun in place, candy, one of her awesome runnerd water bottles and epsom salt for after the race (which I used the night of the race to help with recovery).  She is a thoughtful one.

IMG 5110

*My family’s group text messages during the marathon.  There were dozens of messages during the race in the group text.  They were all very nervous.  I love that they were figuring out all of the math and so involved.  My sister said she couldn’t even look at the messages or track me during because she was too nervous… she just had to wait for the final time.  <— Probably because every other time she has tracked me for the marathon I was on pace to sub 3 until mile 20 when I exploded and her heart couldn’t handle it again haha.

It was really fun reading through their messages on the way home.

IMG 5278

*Kristi’s comment… SO SO TRUE.  It was the best sharing that moment on Saturday with Andrew and I’m so glad it happened with him there.

IMG 5290

*I learned this from Meb and tried it out the night before the race.  I put the pillow in my tank to get my bib on nicely and it worked great.  I usually put my bib on during the bus ride up to the start and it ends up crooked and crazy looking so this was a nice change.

IMG 5156

*Skye was fascinated by my medal and couldn’t let go of it at Five Guys after the race.  I highly recommend Five Guys after your next race, it was everything I could have ever asked for after a race.

IMG 5267

*The day before the marathon I ran 2 miles on the treadmill.  It was my only treadmill run of the entire marathon training cycle and about a minute into the run I realized I have lost all of my treadmill mental endurance.  I’m going to need to work on getting that back for this winter…

IMG 5113

*I posted a pic on my IG and tagged Allie Kieffer because I was using her power bun and she responded to the post.  I saw it about 20 minutes before the race started and I might have blushed because I was so excited.

IMG 5406

*Alex sent me the link to this shirt and I absolutely need to give this to Andrew.

IMG 5126

*I’ve never received a license plate holder as part of my race SWAG and I’m going to have to put this on my car because it was officially my favorite race ever.  I won’t mind being reminded of the day every time I see the back of my car.

IMG 5159

*NanoHydr8 posted this the day before my marathon and it was just the reminder that I needed…

IMG 5123

*I hope you have a great fall too;)

5c9ec7d4 7d4c 42e0 8dfe 721cec98bb81

*Random thing from the marathon that I forgot to tell you… I wore my Levitates until about 10 minutes before the race start.  I feel like I actually do a lot of walking before a marathon and I didn’t want to go into the race with tired feet so I wore my most comfortable shoes until I switched to the Hyperion.  I switched back into them right after the race too!

IMG 5180

————————————————————————————————————————–

I would love to hear your tangents!  Anything random floating around your brain today?

Those of you that raced this last weekend… how is your body recovering?  Pretty sore or not so much?

How is your current treadmill endurance?  When was your last treadmill run?

Have any Halloween traditions?  I would love to hear them and steal a few from you:)

This spoke to me–I am SO incredibly sore from Chicago! My quads hurt so bad! I’ve also been using my R8 and it’s the worst/best thing ever. But, for the first time, I don’t feel burned out post-marathon! Which makes me so excited for a new goal!
I actually skipped the treadmill all summer because I think it lead to some misalignment injuries after so much treadmill running during the winter. There was only one time that I got on it because there was a thunderstorm outside…and I lasted .8 miles before deciding just to wait the storm out and run outside. Lol. I’m with you on needing to build that endurance back up.
Question, can you post a tutorial on how you do Allie’s power bun sometime? It takes me hours to undo the knots in my hair after long runs/races and I’d love to try something else. :)

Reply

YES… the quads are unreal! I am SOOOO happy about your PR Mollie, soak in this accomplishment for the remainder of the year (at least)! That is so interesting about the misalignment injuries… ahh don’t let that happen this winter! YES. I will get that up in the next few days! It literally was life changing for my race haha:) Have a wonderful day!

So you know how I mentioned how it’s tough when you and your partner are tapering… try the first run after the marathon. Yesterday, I got myself all worked up for our 1 mile shakeout because i thought he would go out too hard, and I ended up dropping the pace at the end. I guess we dropped it hard because I almost had to stop, as I was laughing so hard at how mad he got.

Next time you and Andrew run a marathon together, I would love to hear about the post race shakeout Haha! It’s a real test of marriage.

Reply

YES… bahahah I love hearing what it’s like to train/taper/recover for a race with your partner! I love that you are experiencing all of the emotions together throughout the entire thing! I don’t know if we could handle that;) hahaha! Have a beautiful day!

Still can’t say enough how proud I am of you! It’s been so awesome watching this journey and seeing you finally achieve your dream!

Tuesday Tangent: I’m 34 today, and I feel so old. But I will say that I’m also very thankful. I’m not exactly where I thought I would be in life right now, but I know that God has a plan for me, and I’m going to trust it, even when it’s hard. Just like we should tell ourselves in races, I CAN DO HARD THINGS.

Reply

HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY NATALIE!!! Keep trusting God, His plan is the absolute best. You are doing amazing things in your life!! I wish I could take you for froyo today!

Reply

Still soooo excited for your big accomplishment!! Definitely thrilled Andrew was with you. Loved the texts from your family! They are quite a support group :)

Take care recovering, your body deserves to be pampered!!

Reply

Thank you so much Kaelin, I really appreciate your comment! Have a beautiful day!

Reply

Still so excited for you!!!! I think I am riding your race high over here in Chicago ;)
I am just getting back to treadmill running too (preparing my mind and body for the winter) So far, so good – physically. Although I am finding myself bored around .7! Need to find a good show!

Have an awesome Tuesday!!

Reply

Thank you SO much Bethany! Oh that is totally the solution to building up treadmill endurance–> A GOOD SHOW. Thank you so much and have a wonderful day!

Reply

Still so impressed, excited, happy for you!! Looking forward to hearing about what’s ahead – not that you should rush on to the next goal – but curious about how you’ll continue to maintain your fitness level or dial back for recovery… For my own running I’ll be trying to find a balance after the next few races I have coming up and not just totally slack off and lose my hard earned fitness while giving my body a mind a little bit of a break at the same time…

Reply

Carly, thank you thank you thank you! YES… I will talk about that in my next post tomorrow. When are your next races? I’m excited for you… you’ve got this Carly! Have a wonderful day!

Reply

I must be feeling sympathy pains for you because I could not get into my rhythm yesterday on my run and my legs felt awful!
I do have a question for you – I know you’ve worked really hard on your nutrition for the day before/day of the race. My half in a few weeks starts at 5pm – the last time I had a half in the evening like that, I struggled with what to eat during the day. Do you or anyone else have any tips for what to do? I want to make sure I eat enough but not too much so that I feel weighed down or have to make pit stops. :)
I don’t even remember the last time I stepped foot on the treadmill… I kind of like it like that!

Reply

I hope that your next run = happy legs! 5pm start, that is definitely a change up. Can you practice some runs at 5 pm before that? That is what I would do! I would stick to very plain foods throughout the entire day and stay away from fiber personally. Practice and see how things feel if you can. Anyone else ever do races at night?!

Reply

Hey!
I was thinking about all of this, too, and I think it was meant to be that Skye was there, and that you broke 3:00 after you had Skye. Makes everything even more special and amazing. I like how Knox wanted you to picture him there, and I know you did just that. Three awesome kids, and now a SUB THREE! WAHOO!!!!

I didn’t race over the weekend, but I had my 18 miler (it went great :) Eek), and I was SORE yesterday! My recovery run was EASY PEASY. I’m feeling way better today! Rest and recover, right?!

Halloween traditions—we have a Halloween themed dinner in our fomal dining room every year on Trick or Treat night. It’s actually the only time we actually eat in the formal dining room. ha ha We make Halloween themed foods—-usually a veggie skeleton man, pizza with pepperoni on it to look like a jack o lantern, and tons of desserts, of course :)

Reply

Oh I love that Jen… so so so true. I love that so much, 3 awesome kids + sub 3. Thank you for that. He gets back tomorrow and I literally have been so excited to tell him and make him go get a donut together to celebrate:) 18 MILES AHHH and I am so happy it went so great! I’m so glad you are feeling better today. Okay, I think I’m going to have to copy your halloween themed dinner, that sounds like a blast. I love it! Have a wonderful day Jen!

Reply

The soreness after my recent half was crazy, the day after I was SORE and then a really weird thing happened, the next day nothing at all hurt. It was bizarre. I am taking it easy with recovery. I went back to exercising yesterday but I am really limiting it for the next 2 weeks. I just don’t want to risk hurting my knee since it has been shockingly without issue.

Enjoy your celebration and your rest!!

Reply

That is so crazy that it was even worse two days after… our bodies are strange ha. I think you are being so smart taking the next two weeks easy. Thank you Carrie and have a wonderful day!

Reply

I was just so happy for you when I read your post yesterday. I read it while on a walk and I started to cry! You really gave it all you had and it is so inspiring!! Amazing!!

Reply

Allison, thank you so much for your sweet comment. That means so much to me. I hope you have a wonderful day and keep me updated on how you are doing!

Reply

Last treadmill run was a couple years ago. I just cannot take the boredom and run outside. Of course, I live in Houston with our moderate winter climate, so it’s easier.
I love Halloween and decorate the front yard in a BIG way. Dancing witches, cemetery, skull lights, purple porch lights, etc. Neighborhood kids love it! Have a great week!

Reply

The fact that you run outside through your summers = hardcore! Andrew thinks you are the coolest. He loves doing all of those things too… Brooke and Knox want to come trick-or-treating at your house. Thanks Kate, you too!

Reply

Really enjoyed your race recap! I haven’t run a race in awhile (life and kids!) but your story has really inspired me to set a goal and go for it. Congratulations! Spoil yourself, you deserve it!

Reply

YES MARNIE YES!! I love this—> GO FOR IT!! And keep me posted along the way, I want to hear it all. Thank you and have a beautiful Tuesday!

Reply

Woohoo! Congratulations! My race ended up without the predicted 8″ of snow and instead if only snowed the first 3 miles and then spit at us the rest– and I PR’d! I’m about half as fast as you, so my PR was 2:32 for a half, but still a PR!

Reply

8″ of SNOW! And you PR’d. Lisa, HUGE CONGRATS!! You rocked it. Soak in that PR goodness as long as possible and eat your favorite treats today. Thanks Lisa!

Reply

I am so thrilled for you! That is an amazing time goal and you did it!
I am attempting a running streak for the month of October….a minimum of 1 mile each day…..yesterday I did a mile on my treadmill because it’s still 88 degrees and humid here, and I struggled to get thru one mile on there! I ALWAYS prefer being outside.
You should watch Halloweentown with Brooke and Knox….the Disney channel movie from 20 years ago, it’s pretty fun. And eat lots of candy corn.

CONGRATS AGAIN!!

Reply

Thank you so so much Loribeth. Running streak==> so fun! I love it. I can’t believe how opposite our weather is. Okay, thank you so so much for the idea! We will absolutely be doing that. Have a wonderful day!

Reply

I’m hoping to do a couple easy miles today as a post-race shakeout; I didn’t run yesterday (walked 3 miles) and had so much nervous energy from no running that I started painting my kitchen cabinets! Hah—my husband is going to be surprised when he gets home from his current work trip!

I am planning to pull back on running for the next month to just 3-4 times a week and really focus on strength training; I would love to hear what you do for strength!!

Reply

BAHAHA that is hilarious! What color did you paint them!?! I’m going to join you in that. I was doing great with strength for a few months this year and then once training for running got heavy, I completely stopped (besides hip stuff and planks). But I’m going to work with my coach to get a few more things going and I’ll post about what I start. Have a beautiful day Rachael!

Reply

I am so stinking proud of you Janae!!! :-) Btw, I emailed you to see if we could meet up in Utah the end of December since we didn’t get to when I was out there 2 years ago. ;-) Thank you so much for being one of my biggest inspirations for the past 4-5 years!!

Reply

Wait.. I DIDN’T GET THE EMAIL!!! Something is wrong with my contact me page. Can you send it to hungryrunnergirl @ gmail.com. YES YES YES! Have a wonderful day!

Reply

I just sent you the email, using my gmail email instead. :)

Reply

Congrats again Janae – you are a rock star!!!!!!
I am recovering from Chicago – my quads are still a kind of sore, but overall well on the recovery road! I got to use recovery boots at my gym yesterday and they felt soooo good. I finished with a time in between my first two marathons, and I’ll take it! Had tummy troubles around mile 18 but was able to push through it to the finish. I know now that I can PR if I focus a little more on my nutrition/hydration pre and during the race. Going to take a look through some of your old posts for advice! We were super lucky to have cool weather for the marathon this year, because the next day in Chicago was 84 degrees and sunny!
I take a treadmill class once a week – definitely do more hills and speed than I would on my own. My coach for the class did Chicago also and finished just over 3 hours- amazing!
Random question – does anyone else not have much of an appetite for a day or so after a marathon? I am just now getting my appetite back from Sunday’s race, which is so confusing to me… Normally appetite is not an issue for me!
Enjoy your recovery!!!

Reply

THANK YOU CATHY and CONGRATS TO YOU on Chicago. I totally forgot about my recovery boots… why have I not used those yet? I am so sorry about the tummy troubles, that is rough. Hallelujah for cooler temperatures. Good luck on finding the best nutrition plan for you.. it is SO hard.

I guarantee the stomach issues you were having caused you to lose your appetite for a while… that has happened to me for so many different races and long runs. I am always hungriest the day after a long run/race too. You are not alone. Enjoy your recovery too and CELEBRATE your marathon!

Reply

You are such an inspiration!!! I start training for my first half today and will be thinking of your accomplishment to get me through the tough days!!!

Reply

AHHH I am so so excited for you! Please let me know how your training is going and you are going to do amazing!

Reply

I literally just have tears in my eyes every time I think about you reaching your marathon goal! It gives me hope that I can eventually reach mine. You are an inspiration!

Reply

Wow, thank you so much Stacy. You can and you WILL. And I can’t wait for you to do that. Please keep me updated with your journey to get there!

Reply

Still just so thrilled for you! I loved reading about how you talked yourself into being okay with not sub-3ing and then you decided to go for it. Love that! We play so many mental games! have zero treadmill endurance right now because my treadmill is broken and we could buy a new one for cheaper than it would cost to fix it. So any great cold weather gear recommendations anyone have would be so appreciated! I live in Iowa so it gets cold!

Reply

Ali, thank you thank you thank you for what you said. YES, our minds sure try to get us out of doing hard things sometimes. It gets cold in Iowa but the gear makes the biggest difference. I’ll be trying a few new things soon and write reviews about them. Thanks Ali and please get handwarmers, they will save you this winter:)

Reply

So, so, so proud of you. What a joy to have followed along with you on your journey and see you reap that sweet, sweet reward of hard work and perseverance — I kept checking instagram all Sunday morning here from NYC to see how you did. I am so inspired by you and will try to be channeling you as I get through this last hard week before my taper for NYC marathon, which will be my first marathon ever!

Reply

Oh thank you Lillian! I really appreciate what you said. Thank you and good luck with this last hard week and the taper… you are going to have the most amazing experience ever! PLEASE let me know how it goes!

Reply

I’m still emotional over here for you. What an inspiring story, Janae. Thanks for sharing it with all of us. I’ve had a long road back to running after surgery a year and a half ago so I get so nervous to up my mileage. You’re giving me so much inspiration though! Thank you!

Reply

Tess, thank YOU for your sweet comment and for following along. I am so sorry about your surgery and I’m praying for a healthy and strong comeback for you. PLEASE keep me updated with how you are doing. Have a beautiful day!

Reply

I agree with the kids. We need fall, not winter! Although we also do need the moisture so I’m trying not to complain about it haha :)

I love how involved your family is with your running!!

Reply

YES!!!! FALL COME BACK!! Have a great day Jenny!

Reply

This is not intended to be at all pessimistic – you can’t be pessimistic after the fact anyway ; ).

I can’t get it out of my head though. Consider, for a moment, if you went a little slower (between 1-2 secs per mile), you would not have met that AWESOME goal. BUT YOU DID IT. You pushed through and did it. And that makes all the difference!

Reply

I have thought about this so so so much too. My family hopes I don’t cut it so close again in the future haha… I was killing them off. Thank you so much and have a wonderful day!

Reply

Congratulations on your awesome accomplishment and new PR! That is super impressive! You’re super inspiring! This gives me hope that I can be a faster runner too. Thank you for sharing.

Reply

I really appreciate you Lauren, thank you so much! YES YES YES… hold on to that dream, you can!

Reply

First off, belated congratulations on accomplishing the sub 3! So incredible, and I am so happy for you and your sweet family. I love the family text that they had going on to figure it all out. Spectating is hard and sometimes us runners don’t fully appreciate that.

I ran Chicago and although I ran 20 min slower than you, I am still sore all over. I am having trouble walking in a fluid motion, but boy it was worth it! I need to roll but right now I am still too scared to touch the foam roller. Maybe tonight I will give it a go. I know it will make it better. PS. I did exactly what you did at the start of your race except I did it during…. you aren’t alone. One great benefit of the rain. I still feel a little ashamed though.

Are you already thinking about your next race? I want to sign up for something right now even though I told my husband that I wouldn’t do any big races in 2019. It is killing me though. I had such a great race that I just want to do it again. Marathon struggles.

Reply

Caro, thank you thank you thank you for your sweet comment. HUGE CONGRATS to you at Chicago, you rocked it! Hahah the foam roller is still too scary for me too. I am so glad you had a fabulous race. Hahaha THANK YOU for telling me this. So I did mine during too (I don’t think I explained that well… I realized I had to go at the start and waited a few miles). We had to do what we had to do! I totally am already dreaming big again… we are addicts:) I am definitely taking a chunk of time off and I’ll share all of plans in tomorrow’s post! Congrats and keep me updated on your plans, I am so thrilled for you! 2019 will be a great year!

Reply

I just read your re-cap and today’s post. Congratulations!! So happy for you. I had tears at the end of the recap. I am so curious after the pain subsides, what your next family and/or running plan will be? :)

Reply

HEY YOU!! Thank you so so much! I am writing all about that in tomorrow’s post but for a short answer–> I’m taking a good chunk of time off. This body needs some major recovery:) Have a wonderful day!

Reply

I am just so happy for you from here in the UK. I have been following your adventures for years. What you’ve done is truly inspirational. Wishing you a good recovery.

Reply

Thank you Sarah, that means the world to me. I hope you are having a wonderful day!

Reply

Congratulations on the sub 3!! I’m so inspired by you! I just ran St George also and couldn’t believe how great the weather was despite all my stress beforehand. I found your blog a couple days before the race and your tips for the mental game were super helpful. Thank you! My question for you is – how soon will you try to run again? Because I need advice on that. ? Thanks!

Reply

HUGE CONGRATS!! Right!? The weather was unreal… we lucked out big time! I’m writing all about my plan for tomorrow’s post but long story short… not for a while! That marathon trashed my body so I need to respect it and give it the rest it needs. Have a wonderful day!

Reply

Congratulations! Enjoy it! Your training was excellent and fun to follow. Great work!

Reply

Thank you SO much Christine! I hope you have a great day!

Reply

I ran st George too and actually thought about you a ton during the race!! Especially around the 3 hr mark. I just kept thinking “I hope she made it.”
Also, I didn’t do one training running for the marathon outside! All of my runs, including long runs were done on the treadmill. I just didn’t really care much. I’ve had a goal to get into the 10 year club at the marathon since I ran my first one when I was 18. After years of babies and just life this was my 10th year. Training was pretty much torture b/c I just didn’t want to do it. But I did it and with little training finished in 3:56 and got my 10 year inductee title!!
Also, I’m actually not very sore at all. My back is the most sore so when I read that your core was the most sore I can totally relate! My stomach has been revolting even since I finished though. STILL!!
Enough about me, blah,blah, blah!!
I am so so excited for you! I’ve loved following your training. Especially when you were doing all the Long runs I should have been doing. :)

Reply

EMILY!! HUGE congrats on St. George. You are in the 10 year club–> AMAZING! That is my goal too (I need 7 more years though haha)! 3:56 with very little training, WOW. I hope that your back starts to feel better asap and post-race stomach problems are the worst. Thank you so much Emily for thinking about me during the race and what you said.. Have a beautiful day and hopefully I join you in that club someday!

Reply

I can’t do treadmills! Last time I was on one it was 3 miles and felt like forever!

I just found out I got into the London marathon (fully expected it to be a no again as I have tried the last 3 years.) Still a bit shocked about it but reading your race review yesterday made me really excited to start training in a few months! It will be my second marathon and first goal is to have fun, it’s The London Marathon!, second goal would be to just do better than my first.

Love reading your blog. You are such an inspiration to me and hoping I can be as determined and smart as you in my training.

Reply

SARAH, this is huge !! Congrats and I want to hear all about how your training goes and everything else. You’ve got this Sarah, I am thrilled for you!

Reply

Thank you for the Meb -> Janae pillow/bib tip. I always am a crooked mess with my bibs, I’ll be trying this!!

You’re so inspiring. I was in virtually in tears reading your race recap, I shared in your joy! Congrats on all your hard working becoming reality with hitting that amazing hard goal.

Reply

Hahaha me too! It helped so so much. Thank you Jen, that means a ton to me! I hope your day is a great one!

Reply

I love how supportive your family is!!

I packed some comfy sandals in my drop bag and definitely put those things on ASAP when I finished. I am actually able to move today! The first thing I thought when I got out of bed this morning was that my thighs weren’t on fire!

I could not tell you when my last treadmill run was. I’m so thankful that I have one because it’s the best when there aren’t any other options but I LOVE getting to run outside.

Our Halloween tradition is super simple. The whole family comes to my house and we make frito boats (or pie depending on where you live :) ) and then we take the kids for trick or treating while their uncle stays at our house and passes out candy.

Reply

So so excited for you Marissa… CONGRATS! So glad your thighs were better today! I need to try a frito boat. Sounds perfect. Have an amazing rest of your week!

Reply

So you used 12 rubber bands for your bun? Maybe that’s why when I’ve tried it, it doesn’t stay in place. I guess i need more runner bands. I want to hear your process for that.
Also, is that just dove deodorant you used to prevent chafing? Good to know about.

Reply

I need to do a tutorial on how I do it. YES… it prevents chafing, it’s a mazing!

Reply

I have followed you for so long now without commenting , you are such an inspiration to keep pushing for my sub 4 goal! One day it’ll happen- hard work and dedication. I felt emotional reading about your achievement on Saturday! Well done!
Best wishes from the UK ?‍♀️❤️

Ali, THANK YOU SO MUCH for your comment! Yes, yes, yes it will… do not give up! You will get it. Thanks Ali!

I kept checking the St George website on Saturday to see how you were doing! When I saw you got it, I told a bunch of people because I was so excited, even though they don’t know who you are ? You are an inspiration!

Random question…where is that blue sweatshirt from in the first picture of your post? I LOVE it!!

Okay, that makes me SO happy! Thank you so much! Oh that is my favorite sweatshirt on the planet… here is the link:

No way!! I hope they loved the day too! You should join them (us:) next time!

I was so excited to see that you hit your goal!! Perfect timing for me too, I ran my first full on Sunday (in Pureflows). I hit MY goal(s) (to finish, and under 4 hours)! You are an inspiration!

Reply

LINDSAY!! HUGE HUGE HUGE CONGRATS!!! You rocked it. Soak in that accomplishment for a very long time. Recover well!

Reply

HUGE congratulations to you!!! My husband and I were camping in the Adirondacks and I had only intermittent cell service. I stalked you as much as I could, and was overjoyed when those first Twitter “congratulations ” started pouring in. I teared up when I read your race report, and that is NOT like me, generally! I’m so inspired by your perseverance, and by the fact that you dream big audacious dreams, then work your tail off to make those dreams a reality. Can’t wait to see what you accomplish next!

Reply

Deb, that means the world to me. Thank you for checking in while you were out camping. THANK YOU!!!

Reply

I was so happy this weekend for you – your sub-3 put a big smile on my face!! You are the reason I finally felt like I could run a half marathon and then even a full marathon. Please keep being you, as you inspire so many people to go beyond what they think they are capable of!!

I use the treadmill regularly – with monsoons wrapped up (we get a TON of lightning with those summer storms) and winter approaching, it’s a necessity for me! I work long hours (6am-4pm or 5pm) and it also helps to be able to start prepping dinner while doing my run or workout. I always make sure to get in 1-2 runs outside per week (I run about 4 days per week), especially my long runs.

I am still in awe of your accomplishment! I know how much you wanted that, and I was checking your instagram multiple times that morning awaiting your update haha!

I have a half on the 21st that I’m pumped about. It’s the Hershey Half in PA, and it’ll be my second time running it. I have a goal to PR (as always haha), with a 7:45 pace. Last half in June I ran 7:53 pace, so I’m feeling capable based on my training thus far.

I actually have amazing treadmill endurance as most of my runs are on there because I have an 18 month old son and no jogging stroller NOR an area conducive for stroller running *sigh*. BUT, I actually don’t mind it at all! It’s right in front of the tv AND in the same room as my son’s play area, so it works really well for us. Longest run I ever did on a treadmill was 22 miles..yes, you read that correctly! When I trained for my first (and only..so far) marathon, I did all my long run on that (this was also pre-kid fyi), because it was during winter and we had BAD snow that year. Perks was that my hubby refilled my water multiple times AND I could use the bathroom whenever I needed :P

We are moving in the spring, though, (one town over), but the area is much better for outdoor running (especially with a stroller), so I’m hoping to get a lot more outdoor runs when I train for next full next fall :)

As longtime readers, my friend and I were also anxiously tracking you and texting each other throughout the race ?
We were so happy to see you achieve your goal! Very inspiring, and makes me excited to sign up for my next road marathon.

Congratulations! I’ve been following you for years and am so happy to hear that you’ve finally crushed your goal! I was curious though, where did you get the navy funnel neck pullover that you’re wearing in a couple pictures above? It looks so comfy!
