Silentish Saturday!!!

It’s so crazy to me that just last week it was the marathon!

No long run or race prep on a Friday night.. instead lots of cake.

Why do I try to wear white clothing?

This will be the first Saturday that I haven’t run in 8ish months?!  WEIRD but while I feel great, my body needs the time off to recover.

Is that the Devil’s Food Cake from Costco?! If so, was it delicious? It looks so good every time I see it at ours!

Today I’m doing a simulation long run (10 miles), with the last 8 at HMP or faster! I’m pretty excited; there is this local historic farm land that I can do two mile out and backs on and it’s so gorgeous. After the long run I’m coming home to do some house work and then who knows. :) Enjoy your resting period!

My daughter had asked for that cake every time we walked past it. (We never randomly get cake but it does look amazing!) So for her last birthday I asked if she wanted to order a special cake or get that one. She chose that one. It’s just as good as it looks. Possibly better.

Reply

You need to get the Costco cake this weekend. It is SO so good. I’m having more after lunch:) MERCEDES–> How did that run go.. that is a killer workout, way to go! You should refuel with some chocolate cake:)

Kristen, I’m so glad that your daughter chose this one… she is smart:) Have a great day!

Reply

The one from Costco is SO good! My son used to request it every birthday!

Reply

Pretty chill Sat for me too. Hot yoga, soccer practice then apple picking with the girls and my niece..gotta love the break from running every day! #restingmarathoners

Reply

That sounds perfect. I need to go apple picking and hot yoga… that needs to happen for me too. Hahah best hashtag. We deserve this rest, big time. Thanks Jennifer and enjoy your weekend!

Reply

Wow is that your backyard?? Looks beautiful!! Will we be getting a tour of the new place soon? Happy Birthday to Knox and your nephew!!

Reply

Yes yes yes you will be getting a tour soon! We just need to unpack and get things decorated first… so it will probably be about 2 weeks until I do a full post on it. Thanks Christine. Have a wonderful weekend!

I ran 9 miles with my border collie and recently adopted Australian Shepherd! Then I’m going to Bible study, then it’s girls night making candles and going to dinner! I hope you have a great Saturday without running!

Reply

I love that you get to run with your pups and congrats on adopting your Australian Shepherd! Sounds like the perfect day. Thanks Miranda!

Looks like a fun and yummy celebration! We are eating banana bread for breakfast, going to a soccer game in the rain, and driving to visit my family this weekend.

Reply

Sounds like a great weekend and now I need some banana bread! Enjoy Tabaitha!

Just finished my Saturday long run. Turned into a gratitude run. I live in Tallahassee and as I was running I was thanking God for all the ways he protected us during Hurricane Miachael this past week. Other than our trampoline flying away and smashing into trees on the lot next to us :) and losing power for two days we are so fortunate compared to many others.

We have friends in town with trees through roofs, many still without power, roads blocked with trees and power lines and of course then there are those west of us who lost everything.

Running really is a gift as it gives me time to ponder so many things and this mornings gratitude run was a perfect start to this wonderful weekend.

Oh!!! And I almost forgot…it was 58 degrees when I started! Whoohoo!!!

Reply

Kristen, thank you for sharing your gratitude run. I am very grateful that you and your family are okay. Great job on your long run and I love those miles where I find myself thanking God for so much. Thinking about your friends and those on the west.

Feels super weird not to be running on a Saturday! I’m kind of enjoying the post-marathon rest period though. But I do miss running.
Whenever I wear white I regret it. #momlife
Happy Saturday!

Reply

It really is so strange haha… I kept going to start setting out my stuff and realized that it wasn’t happening. Hahah let’s stop wearing white. Thanks Mollie, you too!

Happy birthday Knox!! & older nephew (he’s so big!!)
Today is my son’s baptism so my three things revolve around that!

Reply

Thanks Lisa… right, he is getting so old! Enjoy the baptism, what a special special day!

yummy cake!
3 things: short run, maybe just a mile, but day 13 of the running streak!, call my bro and wish him happy birthday (freshman at BYUI), and pet sitting my favorite black lab!

Reply

No way… I’ve been up to BYUI one time. That is awesome:) Enjoy the streak… you are rocking it!

Reply

I hope Knox enjoyed his party! The cake look delicious. Happy birthday to your nephew.
3 things….missed a race because I don’t have proper rain gear; ran the 10k on the treadmill instead. Wasn’t as fun but I still got to run. Baking brownies for a party later and if I’m lucky, mattress shopping. Ours is old and terrible and I hate it.
Enjoy your new house. I can’t wait to see your redecorating projects.

Reply

I am so sorry you had to miss the race but great job for getting on the treadmill to still do the distance. I hope you find a really great mattress, a comfy one is the best! Thanks Lee, have a great weekend!

Reply

No run for me today either… I’m flying to Colorado to visit my parents for a few days ? I am super excited for some high altitude runs and nice cool weather!!
Keep enjoying your time off! Your body will definitely thank you for it when you start running again!
Happy Saturday!

Reply

Enjoy your time with your parents and those trail runs! Yes yes yes:) Thanks Wendy!

It’s raining in So Cal! It’s rare, especially this early in October. Bike rides/runs are cancelled and no guilt is being felt ;) I’m not sure that 3 things will happen today.

On a running related note, we spent about an hour in Road Runner Sports last night so Les could get new running shoes. He went through the whole fit process and we discovered he has severe pronation. The workers there are so awesome and knowledgeable. We’re really hoping with the right shoes and custom insoles running won’t be quite as painful. And he’s now the proud owner of his first pair of Brooks Adrenalines!

Reply

Enjoy a rainy day and cuddle up inside with a good book. YAY FOR LES getting the Adrenalines. I hope he loves them! Let me know what you think:) Have a great day Kathy!

Studying. Studying. Softball spectating.
No run or workout for me today either! I procrastinated on this exam (somehow 6 months seemed like a long time and then 2 months seemed like a long time but 2 weeks isn’t and now next Friday is really really close!).

Reply

GOOD LUCK ON YOUR EXAM AND ALL OF THE STUDYING!! Go Kristen, GO!

Happy belated birthday to Knox! Looks like you all had a fun time with delicious food!

Today, my 3 things are completing my last ‘long’ run before my half next weekend (I did this earlier this morning), baking snickerdoodle pumpkin muffins, and going to a DC United game with my husband and 18 month old son (his second pro soccer game!).

Reply

Thanks Elizabeth! AHHHH next weekend wahooo! Please let me know how your half goes, I’m cheering for you. I need that recipe.. that sounds like heaven! Enjoy the game, that sounds amazing.

Reply

I will definitely let you know! :) I’m hoping to PR by at least a minute or so! (7:45 pace is my goal).

Here is the recipe I used! Only sub I did was use half oats/half flour because I like the oat-y texture :)

Happy birthday to Knox and your nephew! You have such a beautiful family Janae. They radiate light and love. Reading your post this morning has definitely brightened my day ? Today my three gorgeous grown daughters and I are heading to my Mom’s to have a girls day with my awesome aunt and sister. Can’t wait for some delicious food and lively conversation! Hope your Saturday is great!

Reply

Thank you so much Kimberly, that means the world to me. That sounds like the PERFECT day. Nothing better than time with family. Enjoy:)

Long run + dogsitting + relax!!!

Also, during the marathon cycle you kept saying “I CAN DO HARD THINGS.” And that has absolutely stuck with me and has been extremely helpful this week my first week of half training and first week ever with a coach!!! Have a great weekend!

Reply

I hope your long run was a great one Eleanor! I am SO glad that that is helping you out Eleanor. We are so strong and can do all of the hard things. YES for working with a coach. It is so helpful. Keep me updated with everything!

1. Run
2. Grocery shop. (That was bad, I was hungry and now I have the most random junk food)
3. Out to dinner. (I giggle typing this since I just went to the store. Oops.)

Reply

Hey, I just wanted to tell you thank you for being my friend over the years… I’ve been really lucky to connect with you for so long. Enjoy the random junk food… going grocery shopping hungry is the best. Enjoy your night out… I do that ALL OF THE TIME! Thanks Erica!

Tapered long run.

Macaroni and cheese bake off party.

Come meal plan for me each week please. That bake off sounds perfect! enjoy Molly:)

I went for a run this morning because it was beautiful – fall colours and all even though it was chilly. Now we are going out to enjoy the sunshine – because it is too nice of a day to be indoors! And then maybe tonight we will see a movie – I really want to see a Star is Born.

Have a fantastic day and enjoy all the recovery!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I see a little robot vacuum in the back of one of your pictures! Which one did you go with?

That hamburger bar looks divine, and that chocolate cake–save me a slice, I will hop two time zones away for it. Be right over!

This morning I taught Body Flow. Tom and I went out to lunch (lamb & caramelized onions on wheat bread), and we are off to a cookout this evening! I am pitching in with Greek chicken (thighs in Greek marinade are in the fridge, and they will be thrown onto the grill with everything else…) and I picked up a cookie cake from a local bakery. Somehow, I have never in my life bought a cookie cake before and this one is at least 1.5″ thick and weighs a virtual ton! I bet it will be delicious… :)

Reply

Your Hamburger bar looks delicious. The cake looks even more delicious. Your backyard looks so nice!
It’s an off day for me. Snowing like crazy outside so I’m cleaning inside today :). And lots of baby snuggles with my 6 mo old :)!

Reply

Three things: dump a load for city clean up days; 9.9 mile trail run that was supposed to be 7.9 miles; cleaning the church.

That chocolate Costco cake is now the only one my boys will ask for at birthday time. And I only have two white shirts, nothing else, and they only get worn to church so I don’t mess them up.

It’s FINALLY chilly in East Tennessee, so I took my girls out today to savor the weather. We went to Starbucks for hot drinks, then the bank to get a certified check in case we buy a car this weekend, then to the local farmer’s market to get some local apples and enormous ginger cookies. Next up was the mall to pick new fall scents for the house, lunch at Salsaritas, then we got our nails done. Phew! Later on we’ll make Daddy’s Famous Chili for supper followed by a starlight walk and board games.

Knox looks so happy! I love his grin :)

Reply

Happy birthday to both Knox and your nephew! I can’t believe how big your nephew is getting! My eldest son is 13 now and I feel they just grow SO fast once teenagers!
I spy same counters as last house:) Cute new house!

3 Things: Celebrate my 9-year old’s birthday! Hopefully squeeze in a run if he’s okay with and feeling sufficiently celebrated. But if I can’t, that’s okay. Church.
Enjoy your weekend!

Reply

Sounds perfect! Tell your son happy birthday and I hope if you got out for the run, it was wonderful! Eat some cake for me today!
