Silentish Saturday!!!

It was a rough night with kiddos but we all survived and a 5 mile (@ 8:43 average pace) morning run was just what I needed.

I was really going for a purple theme.  Did a few minutes of yoga once I got home.  My shoulders are so sore from yoga this week ha.

Once they cleaned their rooms (an hour + commitment) we went for a walk/bike ride/park trip.

IMG 9812

Skye was busy taking those really long baby blinks until she finally fell asleep.

IMG 9818

I DROVE for the first time in a week.  I was a little nervous about it but everything went well and I met up with the girls for a little bit… it’s our new Friday tradition.

IMG 9843

I tried a new place—> Sweet Cream Bar and it was crazy good.

IMG 9853

Megan D was eyeing it.

Just having a chill afternoon.

We made it out for more car shopping (I think I’m taking this decision too seriously).

Now we are thinking more about the Highlander?!?

IMG 9864

Testing out the back bench.  We took it over to my parents’ house to get their thoughts on it too.

IMG 9862

They were very hungry and beyond thrilled when we pulled up to Olive Garden.

IMG 9869

Does anyone even eat these (also, thank you Andrew for eating the olives out of the salad for me).

IMG 9875

I’m a big fan of spaghetti.

IMG 9876

Watched some of the Olympic Opening Ceremonies while Skye watched the ceiling fan (she is very interested in it).

Ready for the weekend!

A lot of steps occurred yesterday.

Andrew went mountain biking and sent me this video of his fall… this is why I don’t mountain bike.  Ouch.

Black olives… delicious or disgusting?

-Disgusting.

Did you watch the Olympics Opening Ceremony last night?

What is your Saturday morning run?

Purple is the Cystic fibrosis awareness colour so I love your running outfit lol good on you for facing your fear and getting back behind the wheel. You can do this :-) and this ice cream cone? Wow! Have a great day!

Love the purple – my favourite colour too!

I like black olives but when I was younger I thought olives were horrible. Funny how taste buds change.

My Saturday run is parkrun. Such a wonderful and supportive community and a great way to start the weekend.

Have a great day!

I don’t mind an olive every once in a while. Funny side note: my grandma used to tell us to eat our olives because “olives make you sexy” lol not sure how she came up with that one!

I’m going to try running today! Probably short and on a treadmill. I wish I could have got one in yesterday because the weather was amazing but it didn’t happen.

Oh Olive Garden. How do I miss thee. Maybe May 10 (I am planning on Mexican my first night back May 9). The pepperocini peppers are awesome! I do not prefer black olives. I will not pick them out of a bit but I will lot go out of my way to stab them with my fork, either. Green and kalamata olives however, don’t get in between me and them for sure.

No Olympics opening ceremonies for me. Because of the government furlough I had just gotten home and could have, but wasn’t aware, summer Olympics are more my thing.

10 mile run today, gearing up for an end of April marathon. 29 degrees, which might be slightly colder than perfect for a long run. I was thinking about your post baby 6:55 mike during my run. 6:55 is my all time record mile from when I started running and was 27-28 years old! You are blazing fast and will only get faster!

I am thinking about making this a GooGoo Cluster marathon training cycle. After every long run (including the marathon), eat a Goo Goo Cluster. Preferably peanut butter, but I only have 11 of those so my first three long runs I had the original.

Looking at your pictures, where is your winter this year?!?!? I’m so jealous , sitting here this morning in Minnesota at zero degrees and a good amount of snow on the ground, I long for some temps above 20 to make outside exercise more bearable!

Reply

Oh Sally that sounds sooooo cold!!! Come stay with us and run outside with me:) I don’t know where our winter is (although it is snowing a bit today but still warm!

Reply

We love our Highlander, but the 3rd row is really small. Fine for little kids but not much else. Also, the stock tires stink on the snow. We live in the snowy Northeast and ended up buying snow tires!

Reply

Oh really??? We didn’t know that about the tires! The third row does seem a little small but we are worried because our garage is tiny and won’t fit anything longer than the highlander and we can’t buy a new house too hahha! So so good to hear you love yours.. thanks kelly and I hope your weekend is a great one!

Reply

Hi Janae! I had to tell you my 6 month old daughter Charlotte is wearing that exact same sleeper this morning! Skye is such a doll :). Have a great weekend!

Reply

Oh this makes me so happy! Don’t you wish we could just wear comfy sleepers all of the time? I hope you have a fabulous day!

Reply

Love my Highlander but didn’t get it until both kids were teens. When they were small we had an Odyssey. Love love love. The automatic doors on both sides were a godsend. We bought used and so worth it. Both cars great for dogs too!

Reply

Black olives? No way! Kalamata olives? Gimme!

We are on our second Honda Odyssey and LOVE it. The best thing about it is how easy it is for grownups to access the third row for spills, help with carseats, or even riding. That is why we did not get a Highlander or a Pilot.

My Saturday run was AWESOME today! I’m training for a marathon on March 18 and today I ran 16 with 6 at goal marathon pace. Goal was 8:05-8:10, and I averaged 8:00, so I will be lazy and bask in the glow of my accomplishment for the rest of the day :-)

Reply

Margie, you absolutely rocked your long run today! Huge huge huge congrats! Enjoy those endorphins and be as lazy as possible today:) way to go! Ahhhh that’s another car we’ve been looking at… I seriously cannot make up my mind!

Reply

Pubes are the absolute worst to me… can’t do it. My husband likes them and i just do not get it. At least he gets to eat the olives in my salads so we make a good team! We almost went to olive garden last night too but at the last second opted for an Asian Fusion place.

Reply

Omg… i totally meant OLIVES… darn autocorrect! ?

Reply

Hahahahah this made my morning!!! Autocorrect gets me every time! I hope your Saturday is a great one and your Friday night sounds perfect!

Black olives are gross.
15 miles with last 4 at MP. Mother Nature did us dirty – all our apps said 57 at the start and we’d be ending in the low 40s. All lies – we started in windy, wet and low 40s and got progressively colder. None of us dressed for it (I realize to some this is wonderful but I’m from Texas so just no) . So glad to be done.

Reply

Rene, awesome job on your long run!!! Oh I hate when I don’t dress the right way for a run, it’s the worst! Drink loads of hot chocolate today!

Reply

I had no idea the Olympics were playing! Time to get on it.

Reply

I bought my car a couple years ago and it was a huge decision. It’s a lot of money to spend on one thing!

I watched some of the Olympics this morning while I was eating breakfast. I probably look forward to women’s hockey the most. The 2014 women’s gold medal game was so intense! I’m hoping it’ll be just as exciting again this time around.

Reply

I think Dawn wins typo of the year- funny AND factual!

Glad to see you back in the drivers seat! Be safe!

Reply

Bahahah I laughed so hard when I saw it! Thank you and I hope you are having a really great Saturday!

Reply

My grandfather grew olives, so I have a great love of them! His were the best, but we found some pretty amazing ones in Greece a couple of years ago.

Easy short run today, I have a big ride tomorrow. Hopefully without the same results as Andrew ;)

Reply

long term decisions should take a long time and be given careful consideration

Reply

We LOVE our Highlander! I seriously will never buy another SUV.

Reply

I have a Highlander and love it! I don’t have kids, so can’t speak to that aspect of it, but it’s a great car. I had a CRV before and the Highlander is so much better!

Reply

I’m glad you are back to driving! I used to hate black olives but now really like them (especially on pizza and salads). I didn’t watch the opening ceremony :(. Toyota in general is great and I’ve heard good things about the highlander. Random story- we went to pick up my mom the other day from the airport and a guy with a Honda Pilot was picking up family. He had to fit 2 boosters, a car seat, a double stroller, and several suitcases along with 3 other adults. The double stroller and 1 suitcase took up the whole storage in the back. They had to put the other suitcases on the laps of the adults and could only fit the two boosters in the back seat with no grownups. My husband and I were sitting in our saying that if he had a Honda Odyssey he would’ve been able to fit more in the back, so much more storage space. I know vans get a bad rap but I’m telling you they are amazing when you have young kids. My husband even loves it now. #convertedminivanmom haha

Reply

Oh and we spent months looking for the right car so don’t feel bad about taking your time :).

Andrews mountain bike crash was stellar and of course I had to send the video to my son. He is a 26 year old ski guide in BC and gives Andrew a big thumbs up. :)
A huge no to olives.
Love Skye’s long baby blinks, she is adorable.

Reply

I love when you can get in a good run after a rough night, it’s like hitting the reset button.

We watched the opening ceremonies; I love seeing all the hope and dreams on the athletes faces. And kudos to the 2 hockey placers that climbed up all those stairs to light the torch, that was no joke!

Hope Andrew is feeling OK today. That trail looks awesome.

Reply

Just thought I’d throw another car into the mix for you to consider: GMC Acadia! We looooove ours. We like that it’s small but still seats 8 OR you can get the captains chairs and still seat 7 comfortably. Anyway. Maybe worth checking out!

Reply

Oh my goodness the pepperoncinis from the Olive Garden salad are the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reply

We are thinking of the Highlander or Pilot. But we might stick with our RAVs if we stick with 2 kids. But I really kind of want 3!! :)

Reply

I need all the details on that ice cream. it looked so freaking good. And I am glad you made it home from lunch this week with no accidents.
Honda Odyssey FOR LIFE. Just saying.
I love olives and pepperocinis. I do not love the olive garden. But I hope we can still be friends.
The long baby blinks where they are fighting off sleep are my absolute favorite. That Skye is so dang cute!

Reply

I love my Highlander! I chose it over the Pilot because it has a tiny bit more cargo space when the third row is up. However, if you plan on having more kids I’d go with a bigger car!

Reply

If you arent going to go with the minivan (which I think is ESSENTIAL) with 3 plus kids. Go with the highlander! That was my purchase after my 10yrs with the ODYSSEY. And I am loving it!!
Peppercinis are my favorite. They go on every salad made at home.

Reply

I love olives. period. We watched skating and snowboarding but not the Olympic opening ceremonies.
This morning we had sun for the first time in ages so I did 7.5 miles :). Have a great weekend!

Reply

We’re Honda Odyssey fans over here. The automatic doors are LIFESAVERS! Seriously, pushing a button and having doors slide open for your kids is better than Christmas.
No Olympic ceremonies! ? Too busy. Hopefully we’ll get some Olympic sport-watching in, though!

Reply

Andrew is tough! Even if I don’t get hurt I yelp like a crazy lady when I fall?

Reply

Black olives – I will eat under certain circumstances, I’m very picky. Green olives; however, never.

Definitely watched the Opening Ceremonies!!

6 miles on the dreadmill.

Reply

Get a van! Those third rows are so hard to get to, and three car seats across is such a pain. My Odyssey made life with three kids so much better, not exaggerating.
