In case you missed out last week, the top most viewed posts were:

*Some of our favorite baby things + 10 week UPDATE!

Can you believe that we will be in the month of MARCH starting on Friday (edited–> turns out March 1st is on Thursday… my bad;)?

IMG E1458

A rest day after my first double digit run post-baby was just what my legs needed.  I take my rest days very seriously and don’t even make the bed on Sundays because I know I’ll be back there a few times during the day.

IMG 1452

Sometimes you just need to start the day off with some chocolate.

IMG 1462

Andrew went to the first half of church and I went the second half.

IMG 1467

And then it was back to Skye…  She was already on her third outfit for the day.  The amount of laundry done each week is quite remarkable around here.  I can’t imagine how much laundry those of you do with bigger families!

IMG 1483

Speaking of a lot of kids, my brother (they have 7 kids) posted this;)

IMG 1359

Baseball has started so Skye joined Andrew in watching a game.  Well, she watched the ceiling fan but I’m sure she enjoyed it.

IMG 1493

For dinner my sister invited us over and made her famous bbq pizza (her recipe for this is HERE)!

IMG 1511

Brooke and Knox eat their pizza a little unconventionally.

IMG 1514

MY MOM MADE DONUTS for dessert and they were delicious.

IMG 1515

A quality rest day and it’s time for HILLS today (if I dare run in the cold;)!

I’ve got a few Monday Matters to discuss with you today:

*Andrew sent this to my family’s group text message to show them how much he and Skye look alike.

Screen Shot 2018 02 22 at 10 19 17 AM

*We didn’t have an official date night out so we did one at home.  We ordered Crumbl cookies (if you are in Utah, PLEASE try these) and rented a movie.

IMG 1421

We watched this movie and it was really good but probably the saddest movie I have ever seen… both of us were sobbing.   One thing I love that they said was to ‘embrace the suck’—>  Perfect mantra for our running!

IMG 1352

*My friend posted this on Facebook and it is a story that a mom used for her daughter before she went to middle school.  I’m going to use this with my kids now… such an important lesson!

IMG 1424

*Amy Cragg did amazing in Tokyo yesterday morning… 2:21:42!! WOW.

Screen Shot 2018 02 25 at 3 59 31 PM

*I’ve been doing some things each week to work on strengthening my pelvic-floor to prevent injuries and to help my running… if anyone else is needing to do this (go to a PT/chiro/doc ((I’m going weekly to Dr. Bennett)) and check out this article!  I’m using moves from this video to help:

*After my run last week I sat down to write an email really quick and before I knew it Brooke brought over a little massager and started rubbing it on my back.  She is a smart girl.

IMG 1189

*I just got this (wearing it above) and this dress from Roolee and I’m obsessed.  Love the detailing, the fit and they are perfect for spring!

———————————————————————————-

I’ve got another workout for you to try!  This is especially fun to do on the treadmill (if you are anything like me and NEED to switch things up on the treadmill, try it)!  I don’t have any paces written out for this workout but with each interval try to go a bit faster.  You could try your marathon pace for the 5 minutes, half-marathon pace for the 4 minutes, 10k pace for the 3 minutes, 5k pace for the 2 minutes and mile pace for the 1 minute!  Repeat 1-3 times and then cool-down.  Play around with what paces you do for the intervals and let me know how it goes.

Honestly, by the amount of laundry both my husband and I do, I cannot imagine having kids and doing anymore LOL. Amy is amazing and I am so excited to see how she progresses as a marathoner. I think she has a lot more left.

Every time I see your sister’s bbq chicken pizza, I drool over her puffy crust—the best part of the pizza, IMO! I NEED to join Costco again! If I had a dollar for every time I said that while I read your blog………..my membership would at least be paid for! ha ha

My Monday run is 5 easy with 4 strides. I have a tough workout tomorrow, so today’s miles will be EASY, for sure! It’s supposed to be 54*! Shorts running! Yeah!

My goals for the week are just to take things one day at a time. Training is ramping up, and yesterday I felt kind of veklempt about how I’m going to keep “doing it all.” Sometimes the little picture is better than the big picture!!!

Tom and I had an at-home date night last night, too! We made a pizza using a pre-made crust from the “Caulipower” brand–these crusts combine rice flour with riced cauliflower! We made our pizza with sugar-free pizza sauce, fresh mozzarella, grated parmesan, and a combination of mild and spicy Italian chicken sausage. It was delicious! We watched MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS and both really enjoyed the movie. It was really nicely done, and a GREAT way to bring an Agatha Christie murder mystery novel to the movie screen. I think you’ll like it!!!

I love your Roolee dresses–they look like they’re really comfortable and easy to wear!

No running for me today–spin class and a resistance-band-based core class this afternoon at my gym. Yesterday morning I had a 5K and I apparently I have shaved off 40 seconds per mile from my 5K 6 weeks ago! I’m really proud of myself; the cross-training I’ve been doing has really helped a lot, and I did all of this in a complete downpour! To “celebrate” I ordered a pair of my favorite running socks in a really pretty shade of blue and a new Brooks “run happy” sherpa hat that I have been wanting for a long time. I can’t wait to get them in the mail!

Reply

WOW, your pizza sounds amazing Stephanie. Okay, we LOVED THAT MOVIE SO MUCH. We saw it when I was pregnant for a date and both loved it. So glad you loved it! I hope your spin class and core class later on today are amazing. WAY TO GO on your 5k girl, you are rocking it. Enjoy those new socks and have a wonderful day!

40 seconds per mile???? That is AWESOME! Sounds like you were super strong in tough racing conditions! Congratulations!

Reply

Aww thanks! I was pretty blown away. My running is sort of a weird thing–“running” these days means “run a minute (or 1:15) and walk a minute” intervals, because I have arthritis in my right knee. Health insurance would cover a lot of seeing orthopedic doctors and getting the kinds of outpatient treatment that would help me make reasonable amounts of running part of my lifestyle, but my salary doesn’t make paying for what insurance WON’T cover so feasible. It makes me thankful for spin classes (and I am in the process of getting certified to teach my favorite spin class, Les Mills RPM)–it’s low-impact but still high intensity, and even with my intervals a spin class lasts longer than a 5K does. So I still have the lungs built up to help me get through a 5K, and I still get the good cross training and practice the leg-turnover!

But 40 sec per mile–I was INCREDIBLY pumped when I realized what I shaved off. I also just felt so incredibly good out there (and my joints don’t often feel great in chilly, humid, rainy conditions). Running felt as natural to me as it did BEFORE the onslaught of injuries and then arthritis, back when I ran a lot and ran so effortlessly!

Roolee is the BEST!! And I need to try Crumbl cookies! There’s not a Tiff’s Treats out here in Cali, and I miss that place so much!

My goal for this week is to start making more progress on my book and on something I feel like God is calling me to do regarding my purpose for Him. I’m really excited and trying not to be anxious, so my goal is also to trust Him completely and not worry about anything. Hope you have a great start to the week, Janae!

I ran three easy miles this morning with my dog before work! It was sprinkling a little and my legs were still heavy from Saturday’s 8 miler, but I was grateful to just be out running. It’s the little things sometimes!
The saddest movies for me are Marley and Me, My Sister’s Keeper, The Fault in Our Stars, and Hotel Rwanda…I’m sure I can think of more!
Small goals for this week: get it together at work! I’ve been getting just a little lazy at school lately (with lesson planning, prepping for the week, making copies, etc.) and I need to get back on track!

Reply

Saddest Movies of all time: Man Down with Shia LaBeouf (I cried for like, 14 hours after this one ended) and The Fault in Our Stars

Reply

I haven’t seen either of those… I don’t think I can handle Man Down if it made you cry for so long! AHHH I get too involved with movies ha. I hope your day is a great one Bethany!

Reply

Homemade pizza AND donuts?! Your family is incredible.

No run for me today! Monday is my swim day and my legs look forward to this day every week :)

And I agree with Bethany – Be prepared for serious waterworks when watching The Fault in Our Stars

Reply

My husband picked only the brave for our valentines date night. It was a great movie, but a little heavy for a romantic date night lol. My grandpa was a firefighter though so it was kind of neat to see. But it was one of those movies that I felt like I needed to see something really happy or funny after. 17 miracles and 7 pounds also did that to me.

What is your Monday RUN? -> Monday meeting up with my pals and running 4ish miles at an easy pace. I have a half marathon this wknd in New Orleans that I’m kind of doing for fun so I’m just taking it easy this week.

What are some of the saddest movies that you have seen in your opinion? Um….Wonder???

Goals for the week -> be positive. pray before worrying. thats about it.

Reply

Okay, Eleanor… can I tell you that what you said about praying before worrying is exactly what I needed to hear today. I struggle with worrying a lot and the reminder to pray before doing that is going to help me so much. Trying that right now. Thank you and I am so excited for your race this weekend, I hope you have so much fun!

My Monday run will be at an Orange Theory class later! I randomly entered a 15K race next weekend–so I need to get in some speed at class!

Your family is beyond adorable. Really love reading your posts daily.

OH and isn’t Thursday March 1st? LOL. I have appts that day got all nervous when you said it was Friday–HEHE.

Have a great day!

Reply

AHHHH I still want to go try an Orange Theory class, they sound amazing. Have a blast tonight and I want to hear about how your 15k goes next week! WOW, thanks for that…. yep, Thursday is definitely March 1st. Sorry to give you the scare!!!!!

Reply

LOL about not making your bed on Sundays. I am definitely eyeing your mom’s donuts! (ha – there’s a donut place in Charlotte named Your Mom’s Donuts)

Reply

Mondays are rest days for me, and after yesterday’s 20 miler, I am happy with a rest day for sure :) This was the last 20 miler before the LA marathon on March 18, which means tappering will begin. But of course, very typical for moms, today isn’t completely a rest day.. Ha! I have a ton of laundry! My boys are teenagers, so maybe the amount is less because they don’t change outfits 5 times a day, but it’s bigger and smellier! And, the dog knows (I swear he knows!) when my rest days are, so he will be expecting a good long walk after the boys are off to school. Then it will be house cleaning day.
Skye totally looks like Andrew! :)
Your sister’s pizza looks so good! We are definitely going to have to try that one.
Have a great hill run today, and a great week!

I love your family updates/posts so much! So full of happiness or just plain hilarious moments. :) It seems like I can cry at the drop of a dime since becoming a mother but I’d have to agree with some of the above comments on The Fault in our Stars as being one of them. One of my favorites from way back was A Walk to Remember. Your sister’s pizzas look so good! I’m with Andrew…pizza is one of my favorites so I always drool when I see hers! Have a great day, Janae!

Reply

The bbq pizza and donuts look seriously delicious! I did not run today but I did do miles and miles of walking while in NYC over the weekend! It was a blast and I can’t wait to go back! ?

Reply

I’m in the middle of starting over with running. I’m almost 3 months postpartum and haven’t ran in over a year. This week I’m running for 90 seconds and walking for 3 minutes 5 times. I’m getting faster each week and feel really really good!
One of my favorite sad movies is The Family Stone. It’s a Christmas movie but the last part always gets me! Same with Steel Magnolia! I can’t watch either without crying!
My goal this week is to continue getting in my veggies! So hard to do when you’re a pickier eater.
My Monday Matters: I commented on your blog post Saturday that one thing I was going to do was vacuum… yep still haven’t gotten that done. I will eventually!

Reply

CATIE!! That is so so awesome, I am so excited for you!! Please keep me updated on how you are doing and your running! If it makes you feel any better I haven’t vacuumed in a very long time but you are inspiring me to do it today:) THE FAMILY STONE WAS SO sad and I haven’t seen Steel Magnolia! I hope you have a wonderful day with your 3 month old Catie.

Reply

Omgosh you have to watch it! If you have Comcast I’m pretty sure it’s a free one on demand. It’s the best movie!

I used that toothpaste analogy as an object lesson for family hone evening once. I had the kids tell me mean things that had been said to them/hurt their feelings as I squeezed out the toothpaste. I thought it would be so good for them to see how important words are and to be careful what you say. Annabelle, however, made sure to only use the not nice things I have said to her and then really drilled it into ME how I am not nice. It was a real feel good night and a parenting win for sure!

I got tickets for my hubby for his birthday to see Jim Gaffigan in May. So funny! Hope they enjoyed the show! Happy Monday!

Reply

BTW…Return to Me is one of the saddest movies!

Reply

Oh my goodness, yes Return to Me is SO beyond sad. I can’t wait for you to go to Jim Gaffigan… my brother said it was amazing. He also said there were some really funny parts about marathon runners! Let me know how you guys like it in May!

Reply

We watched Only the Brave this weekend too. And I’m pregnant right now so with my extra emotional-ness I cried even more than I would normally! Great movie but very heartbreaking.

Reply

Yes, it really was so well done and I learned a lot about fires/what these brave men do for us but I still want to cry about it. I can’t even imagine watching it while pregnant! Congrats Rebekah and I hope you are feeling well today:)

Reply

Um, okay so your sister’s pizza and your mom’s doughnuts look AMAZING. That would have been like my dream dinner last night!

I also love the advice for the middle schooler – I think that is great advice for all of us actually.

I think the saddest movie I have ever seen is Marley and Me. No joke. It sounds lame, but I cannot watch it without sobbing.

Have a great day!

Reply

No run today….my half marathon is Sunday, today is a rest day and tues, wed, and fri are my last runs before the race, aaaah!

I think Disney’s Fox and the Hound is the saddest movie ever. I can’t watch it.

And that pizza, yum! It looks like CA pizza kitchen bbq chicken……….that is my favorite! We ate there a few days ago and I added pineapple and avocado to mine, yum!

Have a great day!!!!

Reply

LOVE THIS! So so true. “You will never, ever regret choosing kindness”. Now, if only someone could be over my shoulder every time a testy situation comes up and remind me of this, that would be super helpful. Thanks ;)

Reply

Monday = rest day because I raced Saturday and then ran long again on Sunday. My calves are not pleased :)

Oh we recently watched Only the Brave and I cried too. Definitely a sad one – also the Notebook and PS I love you are on my list.

Goals for this week – being good about recovery after a big week of running. Also, to not get sick because I think I am coming down with something haha

Monday random -the other half made an amazing breakfast of potatoes, peppers, onions, tomatoes and eggs and I didn’t have to lift a finger:)

Happy Monday and have a great week.

Reply

P.S. I Love You, Me Before You, and Titanic….You know they’re sad when even my fiancé cries during them! :)

Reply

March starts Thursday which means more month end work for me. I have to find a way out of accounting…
Also saddest movie definitely PS I Love you. I saw it in theaters and I can’t even bring myself to watch it again yet. I mean I cry at some point during most movies but literally was sobbing in the theater for that one.

Reply

Your moms donuts look AMAZING and your sisters pizza, oh my!!!

Reply

Sad movies – Marley and Me gets me every.single.time. Also Stepmom!
My goal this week is to get back to it after this illness – I’m not fully recovered but I’m well enough to run/workout (as long as I have some tissues) and I have missed my routine! I did a strength workout on Saturday and this morning to try something that wouldn’t be too much cardio and I was fine so I’m going to get back into running starting tomorrow!
I’m very jealous of all the cookie/treat delivery places you’ve shared! We don’t have anything like that near me…but maybe that’s a good thing!

What is your Monday RUN?
hopefully the long run i skipped yesterday! i did 5.5 yest, (1.5 with the 7 yo daughter!), will try for 8-9.

What are some of the saddest movies that you have seen in your opinion?
shadowlands was one

Have any small goals for this week? I’d LOVE to hear them!
small goals are to not think about how i’m doing, but just getting out there and running.

Please share any Monday Matters (aka randomness) that you have PLEASE!
thanks for your workouts that you post! i have missed group training (intervals) for several weeks now due to sickness injury and also being away on holiday. at least during the holidays, i can get some speed workout done on my own. i usually use my garmin watch’s but i like the option of choosing what you posted for the week.

Reply

You guys seriously have the cutest kids!!

I’m hoping the rain holds off and I can get my run in while the kids have track practice tonight

I totally agree with PS I love You, and Beaches is another one.

I climbed up on my kitchen table this weekend to replace a light bulb and I tipped the table almost completely over and I was so scared I was going to break myself. Thankfully the hubs was home and rushed in to save me! I can laugh now, but man it was scary. So, lesson learned. Always use a ladder!

Reply

My husband and I are doing a cleanse right now so I am keeping my running light. . . each day doing 2-3 miles!!

Saddest movie: Wonder! We had date night in last weekend and that is what we picked! It was so good but also so sad! Watch it!

Reply

MY niece lives in sandy Utah. Do you know if there is a cookie delivery there? I think that would be a fun surprise!

Reply

I did this EXACT workout last week for the last 6 miles of my long run! It was dark so I had to run around the same 1.5 miles through my neighborhood, so I did this to split it up and make it go by faster! It was SO FUN! And you can really push yourself!
