Wow. I am absolutely overwhelmed with the love and concern that all of you showed us yesterday. Thank you a million! It is pretty much the best to have internet friends from all over the place that love and support us (and I’m always here when you need that love and support too)! Your comments meant a lot to us and my gratitude levels are at an all time high right now. I had a few more thoughts from the crash that I have been thinking about:
*I totally should have mentioned this yesterday but EVERYONE involved in the accident (the people that hit us and the car in front of us) were all completely fine. Very lucky.
*Southwest is the best. Andrew was supposed to get home well after midnight but he told Southwest what had happened and they switched his flight to an earlier one and to a direct flight for free (he was supposed to have a layover in AZ). He got home to us much earlier.
*I seriously do not even remember hitting my head. I just have the nice bumps on my head to prove it but isn’t that strange how you can’t even remember something that happens so fast like that. My brain went straight into PROTECT YOUR BABY mode.
*Thank you to the nice man in the hospital parking lot that installed Skye’s new carseat for us. My head was killing me and some nice man spent 20+ minutes going through each step in the instruction manual and making sure it was all put in perfectly for us. People are the best.
*My neck and back were a bit sore yesterday but better than expected. I have an appointment to see Dr. Bennett (my chiropractor) to get everything looked at.
*Physically I feel pretty great but I don’t feel super great mentally as far as driving goes. I don’t want to drive for a long time.
*I am so grateful that Brooke and Knox weren’t in the car too. They don’t have the big car seat that Skye does, they have boosters, and it just freaks me out.
*I can’t even begin to imagine what it would be like to be involved in a high speed accident or on the freeway or something. So scary.
Thanks again everyone for all that you said!
Let’s talk about Saturday now. All three of us slept in and took the morning extremely easy. I didn’t run because it just didn’t seem like a good idea and I traded in a weekend run for time in bed because that is just what we needed.
Skye needed it too!
My dad was really wanting to see us so we met up with them for lunch. My dad has always been so worried about us when it comes to driving… hence why he drove 100 hours with EACH of us (5 kids) before we got our licenses. He made sure we were in very safe cars (I was the 16 year old driving around a Crown Victoria) and we were never allowed to go under 1/4 tank of gas (so we wouldn’t run out of gas somewhere random).
I think if he could, he would buy me a tank to drive around in (and now I really want one). It was so nice to just hang out with them at the table and talk about everything. Skye napped and we don’t have the older two so we really got to chat.
Kneader’s has all of their desserts out on display for you to see perfectly while you are standing in line. This chocolate mouse treat sold me the second I saw it.
From there we went out on a walk. The clouds make it look cold but it was 50 degrees and really nice out.
We walked over by the river for a little bit too.
From there we decided to go check out some different types of cars. I definitely want something bigger than my last car (I had a Honda CRV and it was a pain to fit all three kids in the back) so I think we will go with something that has two benches in the back.
I get a rental car tomorrow and then we are going to search for a month (we are fine having just one car after the rental is done) or so to find something that really works for us. I want to feel really good about our decision before doing anything.
Finally, our home has some food. It had been way too long since our last Costco trip. Our Costco delivers now and I told Andrew we should try it and he was pretty offended I would even think of doing that. It’s his favorite part of the week/month… how could I try to take that away from him;)
Also, don’t go to Costco the night before the Super Bowl. It was nuts but we got out of there in 17 minutes total.
And the sweetest Candice brought us over these amazing cookies!
Brooke is having an amazing time in California driving around in her Jeep!
And Andrew is off to pick her up and bring her back today! I’ll go hang out at my parents’ house until they get home!
Are you watching the Super Bowl today? Who are you cheering for? What are you most excited to eat?
If you aren’t watching the game, what are you doing instead?
Ever been in a car accident? What happened?
