He Doubted Me + Hills + What is Wrong with My Feet?

Skye was going for more of a non-staged look and stared off into the distance for the photo but Andrew and I didn’t get the memo.

Also, I am on a three day rotation with my three favorite sweatshirts right now.  I also have no desire to ever wear jeans again (pregnancy pants made me realize how comfortable life can be;) so leggings will be around for a while too.

I decided to get in some HILLS yesterday.  Hills have always been really good for my training.  They help me speed up and get stronger while avoiding injuries.  My fastest races happen after I get in a few months of hill training so I want to start easing into the habit of hill running.  It’s easy for me to choose the routes that are flat (THOSE ARE FAST AND FUN) but I need to become comfortable being uncomfortable with the hillier routes so I started out small yesterday and climbed a few.

IMG 8029

It turns out that hills make me really hot at the end of the run even if it is only 20 degrees.

IMG 8060

Sometimes when I am out on a run and I see the mountains, they don’t even look real to me.  They look like a painting instead…  thank you running for getting me outside more to appreciate nature.

IMG 8017

4.5 miles for the day and about 250 feet of climbing!  I’ll probably stick to 4.5 miles and under for the next few days and then bump up next week another mile or so.  I’m really listening close to what my body is telling me and everything is feeling great which I’m very thankful for (I don’t have any of the pelvic pain that I did when running after having Brooke hallelujah)!  I do need to work on my form and cadence big time right now.  I want to make sure to start off with good habits with those things before I start training.

IMG 8034

During my run I listened to this podcast!  It was a great one of course and it made me even more excited to watch Boston this year (it will be Skye’s first Boston watching experience which is a big deal over here) because of all of the amazing American women that will be competing!

IMG 8064

Our outing for the day yesterday was to the mall to walk around.

IMG 8132

Brooke is pretty proud she can help me push the stroller and the mall was a nice change of scenery (although, I will say I like our Target walks a little bit better).

IMG 8107

But the mall does have the giant pink cookies so I think Brooke was a bigger fan of the mall than Target.

IMG 8130

Skye got in a good nap while we walked around.

IMG 8112

Brooke was pretty thrilled that Andrew brought in an icicle for her… she has been very fascinated by these this winter.

IMG 8094

And then they got in some tummy time together.

IMG 8135

My meals were quite exciting (sarcasm) yesterday.

This pan sized pancake full of frozen blueberries and bananas was flipped by yours truly… even though Andrew doubted I could flip it without breaking it.  Him doubting me gave me extra motivation to really excel.

IMG 8097

Lunch was extra fancy and both items came from a bag… leftover salad (WHO EATS LEFTOVER SALAD… me ((it didn’t taste very good though ha)) and leftover pizza.  Also, cold pizza is delicious and easy to eat while holding a baby at the same time.

IMG 8096

PS the pizza came from our random pizza picnic that we decided to have the other day.  Maybe I am easily influenced by the kids but plain cheese pizza is my favorite type of pizza now (Andrew loves pineapple and pepperoni currently).

IMG 7891 2

And for dinner last night we had roasted broccoli topped with cheese and chicken.  It’s a shame that roasting broccoli makes your house smell so awful because it tastes so good.

IMG 8139

Post-dinner we grabbed these and some popcorn and caught up on The Bachelor and like usual, it was ridiculous.

IMG 8141

Skye’s cheek picture of the day ha.  They make a great pillow for her;)

IMG 8087

PS with all of our race goal talk yesterday it got me thinking about this from RRCA.  Do you usually come up with just one goal for a race or do you give yourself a few?  I really like this approach…  my last coach always had 3 goals for me at each race so that if I didn’t hit the first two I still hit my last goal which always made me feel better:)

IMG 8134

——————————————————————–

A question that I get often each winter is, ‘how do you keep your feet warm during your winter runs’ (and ‘how the heck are your ankles not frozen’ is another popular question)?  I don’t know what is wrong with my body but… I do not know why in the world my feet don’t get cold.

IMG 7905

I think there must be something wrong with my feet/ankles.  Or maybe all of my body’s temperature sensors are located in my hands because those are freezing at all times.  I never even think about my feet being cold, even when I am running in really cold temperatures or through the snow.  They just don’t feel it but my fingers, those freeze anytime the temperature is below 50 degrees;)  For my hands when it is really cold I layer up (four gloves at a time) or make sure I have some hand warmers in my gloves.

IMG 7918

Maybe this runs in our family because clearly my sister’s ankles and feet don’t get cold while running either (this is a picture of a 20 mile snow run that I did with her 7 years ago).   So maybe you can answer this question for me…

NewImage 27

How do you keep your feet warm during your winter runs?

Would you rather have cold feet or cold hands during your run?

What are your favorite pizza toppings?  Any other cheese only fans?

What was the last chocolatey thing that you have eaten?

My feet don’t get cold, but my ankles do! Sometimes I wear long socks that I pull over my running tights and that does the trick.
I would much rather have cold feet than cold hands!
I love all veggies on my pizza!
I had some dark chocolate in my yogurt this morning – so good!

Hawaiian Pizza for me! (Pineapple & Ham)
last chocolate was a Dove Milk or Dove peppermint bark left from Christmas….I can’t remember which one;)
I just love reading about your day every morning over breakfast, thanks for all the work you put in for us to be entertained Janae!

My feet don’t get cold either, I also am a Brooks lover so not sure if it is the shoe or my feet. My only other thought is the friction caused by the slight movement of your foot in the shoe helps create some warmth. The only exception would be if the shoes get soaked. Then when I stop running they start to get cold.

Reply

I think you maybe found my solution… Brooks shoes just keep our feet nice and toasty + the friction… you are brilliant! Thanks Amy and I hope your day is a great one!

Usually it’s my hands that get super cold, so I’ll wear mittens in really cold weather (they keep hands warmer than gloves), or I curl my hands into little balls inside gloves. I’ve worn two pairs of socks before in extremely cold weather, though. I would much rather my feet be cold because I can’t stand when my hands are cold, but also your feet are the ones doing a lot of the work when you run, so I feel like they will warm up faster, anyway.

I’m not a big pizza person because I don’t like marinara sauce, but I do like BBQ chicken pizza since it has BBQ sauce, instead!

Reply

You really need to try Brach’s Bridge Mix! I’m convinced you’ll love it!

I’m a cyclist and my hands stay warm with gloves— I think because shifting gears keepsake them moving. My feet do get cold— but they do okay with winter cycling socks, which actually might work for some runners— they are a thin wool— light, but warm!

My favorite pizza topping lately is nutritional yeast!

I will go get some ASAP!! Thanks Mikey! I hope you get some delicious pizza asap and that you get some great rides in this week.

I have a great ( I think anyway!) tip that took me 38 years to figure out!! I live in the Boston area so I use ALL the cold weather tricks. For the past 2 winters, I have put Clear Duct Tape on the front half of my shoes. (doesn’t have to be clear of course but it looks better). You have to have your shoes really clean and dry. Layer the Duct tab over the fabric of your shoes, using your finger nail to really get the tape into the seam between the edge/side rubber part and the fabric of the shoe so that it will stay. You don’t put the Duct tape on the sole. I criss-cross in multiple layers. Also, don’t stretch the tape too tightly or it will feel tight on your foot. You don’t want it loose but just at the same tautness as the fabric. Just another example of Duct tape curing everything! My feet and hands have zero circulation and this trick is the only thing that has helped for the feet. It usually stays on for the season – has to be the super strong duct tape – regular tape will come right off. Hope this helps someone else!

Thank you for this Amanda!!! Here in La Crosse WI we also have winter temps in the negative numbers especially with windchill a lot of the winter season. My toes regularly are numb to the point where I can’t feel them at all during winter runs (3 or more miles) even with heavy wool socks but I am certainly going to try your method!!!

Reply

Hi Meghan – oh I hope it works for you! Yes, it got to the point where I just wouldn’t be able to run. Ice blocks as feet don’t work too well :)

Reply

AMANDA… thank you so so much for your tips on keeping feet warm! You are brilliant!! Have a beautiful day Amanda!

This winter I’ve become obsessed with features merino wool socks in the crew length. They cover my ankles and I find they keep me super warm. I would rather have cold feet (Ha Ha). If my hands are cold, I am miserable and will end my run. Cold as I’m frost bite. I do feel like it’s easier to keep your hands warm though.

Reply

Last chocolatey thing I ate was this amazingly easy and delicious vegan chocolate I tried out – I just melted dark chocolate chips with a big spoonful of almond butter, some coconut oil, and a little vanilla extract. Then I froze it and cut it up into little chocolate bites. I kept the rest in the freezer for when my nightly sweet tooth hits!

Also This is Us was SO emotional last night. I always think I’m gonna make it through the episode without crying, then something always gets me in those last couple minutes!

Reply

That sounds delicious Katrina… I might have to copy you:) Thanks! AHHH I can’t wait to watch This is Us… thanks for letting me know, I’ll have to plan a time to watch it when nobody sees me sobbing ha!

Reply

I just finished This Is Us and actually came onto the comments to see if anyone was talking about it! – it’s late on the east coast, every one is asleep! Such a tear jerker tonight ???

If I’m ordering a last-minute pizza then I load it with my favorite veggies: black olives, tomatoes, onion, peppers and spinach. If I’m trying a new pizza place or grabbing a bite to eat with friends then I will likely order a deep dish with extra cheese and pepperoni!

Great idea to incorporate hills! My track group takes a break over the holidays and then when we start back up we do hills instead of track workouts for January and February. Even though I have a love/hate relationship with hills, it’s a good way to ease back into the harder workouts and definitely gives us all a strong base when we get back to the track.

My feet only get cold in really freezing temps- or if they’re wet. I’ve definitely had some runs where I didn’t bring gloves and should have- or my gloves were too thin and that’s the worst. I feel like my body can’t feel warm if my hands aren’t warm. So I’d definitely say cold feet is preferable!

Plain pizza is usually my go-to also! Or topped with all the vegetables (except olives- ew). My co-worker is selling girl scout cookies for his daughter, so the last chocolaty thing I ate was a s’mores girl scout cookie from a box he broke out so everyone could try the new flavor. It was good, but not as good as the classics! Gotta stock up on some boxes for the weekend!

I love that you post pictures of the mountains and nature you live near. How cool to look out your front/back door and see snow covered mountains?! I’m in PA–we have a beautiful valley with a stream running through nearby, and that is my happy place too!
I have a good pair of wool socks to keep my toes warm when it’s super cold. Of course, one is missing right now, but I haven’t been running in 20 degrees lately, so it’s ok!
I like extra sauce on my pizza. Sometimes I’ll order a side if I know it’s a place that is skimpy on sauce, or that I really like their sauce. I’ll dip it. Toppings, I like mushrooms but am starting to add more veggies. I don’t like almost-raw onions on my pizza though. :)

Reply

Oh I bet it is gorgeous to run by that stream… if I’m ever there I’m going to come run with you! I hope you find your sock soon!! Good call on the extra sauce… I’m going to copy you:) Enjoy your day Suzanne!

Reply

My feet and hands are always cold. My mom bought me Kinvara Run Shields for Christmas and they have made a HUGE difference. I swear that my toes have gotten frost bite a couple times and burpees at the gym only made the issue worse. But yeah – no probs with the new kicks. I bought a super great pair of running gloves at Costco this year – they are much warmer than last year’s model. I should layer mittens because I end up pulling my fingers out of the gloves and running with fists to keep warm.

Reply

SmartWool socks are fabulous for keeping my feet warm! I love them and would never run outside in the winter without them. I would definitely prefer cold hands because I can do something about them (extra gloves, hand warmers) but I don’t think I could wear extra socks and feel comfortable.
I’ve been avoiding chocolate (so sad) because we got a new puppy and I’m so worried I’ll drop some and she’ll eat it! How do you keep chocolate from Beretta? Are you just reallly good at not dropping it?

Reply

ALI!!! Congrats on your new puppy… what kind did you get? Beretta isn’t really interested in chocolate/sweet stuff but if there is meat cooking in the room she pays 100% attention to every move we make ha. So excited about your puppy! I hope you are having a great day!

We got a Cavapoo and her name is Ginger.

Oh that is awesome Ali!! Enjoy!!!

This is so random but I just had to share my funny dream with you. I was with you, Andrew, and your kids in my kitchen and I wanted to make pancakes. I asked you to do it because you were the pro flipper. I thought that was so fitting for your post today! Haha! You can tell I am a regular reader when you make it into my random dreams!

Reply

THIS MAKES ME SO SO HAPPY!! Glad we could hang out and I’m glad I was even really good at pancake flipping in your dreams too:) Thanks for telling me Cecilia and I hope you are having a beautiful day!

Reply

Oh my gosh – Skye’s cheeks are the most precious things I’ve seen!! I love it.

I HATE wearing gloves. I don’t know why, but I just do. I feel constricted, I guess. BUT, I also hate having cold hands, sooo, it’s quite the battle in the mornings on what I want to do. Wearing gloves usually happens, but they come off quickly once I’m warm. I don’t get cold feet too often! I’m not sure why…

Reply

My feet do get cold, so I wear drymax socks most of the time if it’s below 30. If I’m running in cold rain or snow I have these double layer socks that help keep the inner layer warmer. I’d rather have cold toes than fingers!

I ate a chocolate covered strawberry from Zuppas last night. ??

Reply

AHHH ZUPPAS… I forgot about my love for that place, must go soon! Glad you got to go and thanks for the recommendations! I hope your day is wonderful!

Reply

I used to looooooooooooooathe hills. Sometime in my running journey, I decided to make hills my BFFs. We’ve been good ever since — still ups and downs, but a lot of good times and happy feels.

SMARTWOOL SOCKS! <3 Gloves are usually the first thing to come off for me — it could be 15*F and I'll rip off those bad boys about a mile into my run.

Last chocolatey thing I ate = B&J's Americone Dream. I finished off the pint Monday; thanks for reminding me that I need to pick up more.:D

Reply

Totally the opposite for me! I end up pulling my gloves during my runs, but my feet are always cold! I have Raynauds disease and it targets my toes. Ugh.
To keep my feet warm, I wear waterproof (gortex) shoes…love my cascadias! Even if it is not wet, the fabric helps block wind which keeps them warmer! I also wear pretty thick socks (thankfully my husband works for Smartwool!).
Also, now I want cold pizza….hmmmmm….

Reply

Favorite pizza topping is 100% PINEAPPLE!!! it is just so delicious and any pizza is made a million times more delicious if it has pineapple on it! ? my feet don’t usually get cold when I’m running but my poor little fingers suffer big-time. Gloves and hand warmers are a must for winter running!

Reply

Yes yes yes……….nothing beats pineapple pizza…….especially those places that use fresh and not canned………….:)

Reply

Roasted broccoli is probably my favorite veggie right now. My house smells like that at least 3 days out of the week haha. It’s too cold to air it out with the windows open so I turn a candle warmer on and pray that the smell overpowers the broccoli instead of making a bad combo.

My feet never get cold (or at least that I can remember) on runs either but the rest of me does. I’ll probably be forced to do some outside running now for a while because my baby stashed the clubhouse key somewhere and I can not find it.

Reply

I was irrationally excited to read that Andrew ordered a pineapple and pepperoni pizza, because that is my pizza of choice. My boyfriend thinks I’m insane. But, I never run the risk of him stealing any slices :)

Reply

Oh this will make Andrew irrationally excited too:) HAHAH I’m glad you get the security that no one will touch your favorite pizza. I actually think that combo is delicious too but plain cheese is just my fave right now. I hope you have a beautiful day Sam!

Reply

Your Pep Talk post yesterday really worked! I had the best workout last night. Reminded me why I LOVE running!
I wear Feetures Merino Bamboo socks when it’s really cold. They keep me pretty warm. I’ve noticed that Brooks shoes keep my feet warmer than some other brands.
I choose cold hands. Cold feet are way worse when you run because you can’t feel the ground. That bugs me soooo much!!I
I love plain cheese pizza! My favorite toppings are sausage and bell peppers and truffle oil.
I had chocolate milk this morning before work.
I am looking forward to Skye’s cheek post every day Ha! SOOOO cute!

Reply

Oh Elizabeth, I am so happy you had such a great workout last night! WAY TO GO! That is interesting about Brooks shoes… maybe that is why my feet are never cold:) Your toppings sound delicious! I’ll keep the cheek updates coming:) Thanks so much Elizabeth:)

Reply

Most of the time my feet and ankles are just fine if I wear running socks+calf sleeves and/or high compression socks during a cold run. But once it dips below 15-ish, there’s almost nothing you can do! I try to stay out of the snow/puddles, at least, to stay a little dryer and warmer. I think I’d rather have cold feet during a run than cold hands, though.
Last chocolaty thing…I made black-bean protein brownies last night and they were AWESOME. Can’t wait to single-handedly eat the entire batch now lol

Reply

I’d rather have cold feet since I hold my phone in my hands!

Reply

Oh my gosh, so glad you asked this, just read through all the comments and no one said either of these cold weather must have’s yet!!?? You have to see these pants and head gear to truly appreciate how happy I am lately winter running in the misdwest <3

AHHH YES IT IS… I haven’t had that in forever (I need to go get the one at CPK, I love that one)! Have a great day Allison!

I keep my feet warm by wearing smartwool socks and gortex running shoes (which are waterproof, so they keep the heat in and the water or slush or snow out).

I cannot stand cold feet or hands! I have Raynaud’s disease so this is a serious thing for me. But if I had to choose I’d pick cold hands, bc with cold feet I cannot feel my footing and twist my ankles.

I am a Cheese only fan – though Inprefer Quattro formaggio bc the more cheese the better!

The last chocolately thing I ate was a peanut butter goo goo cluster! Yummmm!

I save Lindsey’s podcast for running only. It’s such a treat.
Also, please be a guest again if she asks! I loved your episode!

Oh thank you Molly! Seriously her episodes are so great! I totally will, I had a blast doing it! Thanks Molly and I hope your Wednesday is a great one!

BBQ chicken pizza or Thai chicken pizza (because PB) are my favorite

I just ate a handful of peanuts and chocolate chips. Yes. at 9am. And it was probably more like 10 handfuls. Maybe I should be mall walking and running like you.

My feet and hands are icicles year round, but especially in the winter. Maybe Brooke could just hold my hands instead. Do you think she would be as excited?

Reply

Oooh, cold feet are the worst for me!! When it’s really cold I layer a thin pair of Smartwool ankle socks under my Sugoi winter socks and my feet stay nice and toasty! My absolute favourite pizza combo is ham, pineapple and onions but sadly, no one else in my house agrees so we usually have cheese and pepperoni ?. The last chocolate treat I ate was part of a Lindt dark chocolate and sea salt bar. Yum!

Reply

This is going to sound weird I’m sure, but I once got the advice to wrap my feet in saran wrap before I put my socks on for winter running when it’s especially cold out and it totally works for me! Little strange but it seems to keep my feet insulated and warm so I go with it!

Reply

That does sound a little weird but it also sounds like a brilliant idea. Thanks Jen for sharing… I hope people try this!! Have a wonderful day!

Reply

I hate cold hands and i have them all the time too. Although I got oiselle mittens for Christmas and they keep my hands warm! I’ve read that mittens help better than gloves. Do your fingers turn white when really cold? Mine do! It’s freaky.
Had a chocolate brownie last night!
So did you do hill repeats or run a hilly route?

Reply

THEY SURE DO… I freak out too about mine when they turn a little white too. I need to get some mittens asap, I’ll look at the oiselle ones! THANKS! I didn’t do hill repeats, I just went to an area with a lot of hills and ran around there:) Thanks Mary and have an amazing day!

Reply

I live in a hilly neighborhood and used to never ever run from the house. I would drive down to flatter lands. A neighbor just moved in last year and convinced me to run from our houses. They can be monsters but I’ve grown to appreciate them knowing they just make a stronger runner. Last week we ran 18mi from the house….1450ft gain. It nearly ended our lives at the end. haha!

Broccoli on pizza! If you haven’t tried it, do it!

Reply

That is awesome… holy cow! 1450ft of gain, YOU ARE SO STRONG!!!

I am going to try broccoli on pizza asap, that sounds amazing! Enjoy your day!

Reply

My feet don’t get terribly cold unless we are in snow – and in that case – wool socks. Oh man, I would take cold hands over cold feet but really neither.

The last thing chocolaty I ate – chocolate pretzels last night. I am a big fan of ham and pineapple but there is this amazing place my other half introduced me to – think crust wood oven pizzas and they have chicken pizza, veggie pizza, and pretty much anything goes from that shop.

Have a great day! Skye’s cheeks are the best :)

Reply

I’d rather have cold hands. If my feet get cold then the rest of me will be cold, but if it’s just my hands then it doesn’t spread.

Reply

My hands never get cold…in fact, even on the coldest days I usually end up taking my gloves off, but my feet get cold…not fun. Speaking of feet…Brooke’s pink boots are the cutest. Also, can you explain more about cadence and why it’s important when you run? I understand it on a bike, but I haven’t ever considered it in my running and I am wondering if this is holding me back!! Is there an optimum range to stay within? Finally, Skye’s cheeks — I can’t get enough..they are perfection.

Reply

Hey Jeannie!! That is so great about your hands… I want that:) Haha she loves those boots and wants to wear them daily! YES… cadence! So basically with a higher cadence you can lower your chances of injury and it can also help you to be faster. For me, when my cadence is low (like right now) it means I am overstriding which means I get injured more often. Everyone has different ideas of the perfect range but for me personally, when I am at about 175 steps per minute… I feel my best and preform my best. Thanks and let me know if that doesn’t make sense! Here is a great article about it too:

https://www.trainingpeaks.com/blog/finding-your-perfect-run-cadence/

PS thanks for what you said about Skye’s cheeks… I completely agree ha!

Reply

I wear wool blend socks that are about crew length. If it’s really cold I might tuck in a foot warmer into my sneakers. It’s hard for me to run when my feet feel frozen.

My favorite pizza is onion, fresh mushroom, (canned or jarred are gross), and spinach but I shared a meatball, onion, and ricotta with my husband the other day and it was really delicious. (as were the leftovers).

I had a truffette de France that one of my husband’s music students gave him. It was quite delicious.

Reply

Oh man, I can’t stand when my hands get cold. I haven’t had any issues with my feet though – I think they just don’t get as cold? Or because I’m running, they have better blood flow?
Taco Pizza is my absolute favorite.
I had an oreo yesterday, does that count as a chocolate-y thing? :)

Reply

I love a lot of toppings but my pizza has to have bacon first and foremost. :) Skey is really rounding out; her cheeks are so cute and chubby! :) The latest chocolate that I love is the ones that look like m&m’s from Trader Joes that uses veggies for the color coating. :) Have a wonderful day, Janae! I just finished cleaning the kitchen and it feels so great; definitely agree with you on the feeling of a clean kitchen. :)

Reply

I am currently eating a cheese pizza as I type.
I had a Dove chocolate last night.
Also- cold hands are the worst. My feet are normally fine unless puddles and sub-40 temps are involved.

Reply

I would much rather have cold hands while running, because I feel like I can at least add gloves or what have you to try and warm them up!

I actually don’t love cheese on my pizza, weird I know :) I usually order BBQ sauce, chicken, pineapple, jalapeno, and light cheese :)

The last chocolatey thing I ate was a dark chocolate Trader Joe’s peanut butter cup.

Reply

I would much rather have my cold hands because you can layer and put in those great hand warmers but not much you can do for those feet! Pizza? I have never met a pizza I didn’t like. :)

I know once before you told us where you got that pink sweatshirt , but can you remind me again????? Love it.

Reply

I mostly avoid running is super cold temperatures and head straight to the treadmill, so I don’t typically have to worry about keeping my feet extra warm. But, when I do run outside in the cold–I use my Thorlo socks because they’re extra warm and filled with cushion! :)

I’d rather have cold feet than cold hands for sure!

I’m all about plain cheese pizza! I usually eat that or pepperoni!

The last chocolate-y thing I had was a Chick-Fil-A chocolate chip cookie and it was just divine (as usual! ;))

Have a great Wednesday Janae!!

Reply

I wear Balega wool socks that go a little up the ankle and over the edge of my pants to run when it is cold.
My favorite pizza is Chicken BBq from Jets.
Cold hands are better than cold feet. Once your toes get numb, it is really hard to run and feel the pavement. Cold hands can be pulled inside your sleeves.
Sea Salt dark chocolate covered cashews! YUM!!!!

Reply

Leftover cheese pizza is better than hot, in my opinion. There’s something about the firmness of the cheese that I love. OH! The other day we had leftover homemade mushroom and onion (my son’s favorite. go figure) and the next morning I put it on top of the toaster to recrisp the crust then put a perfectly cooked egg on top (he likes cooked but runny yolks) He said it was the best way to use leftover pizza. We’ve also cooked pizza and cracked an egg on top like some places in italy do. Weird but good.

Cold hands are the worst and I am a HUGE fan of mittens. I can’t do gloves. Has to be mittens. And we are talking snow board/skiing ones. For cycling I wear “crab claw” mittens. My feet can be cold running but not my hands. However, in the winter I wear gortex shoes and thin wool blend socks. The gortex is amazing to keeping feet warm and dry.

dark chocolate bar last night. I like to nosh on something sweet either while cooking dinner or doing the dishes. Motivation.

First week back running and you’re doing hills. You’re a rockstar.

Reply

My feet are usually ok if I wear calf or knee high socks. I would much rather have cold feet than hands, though.
I am always a fan of pineapple pizza…….I prefer either avocado and pineapple, or just pineapple by itself, but I can also handle it with chicken, green peppers, and/or ham. OOOhhhh……California pizza kitchen’s bbq chicken pizza is so good, and I add pineapple to it, too! (I really like pizza!)

Last chocolate thing was some reese cups……..dangerous bc they are addictive!!

Reply

I use to have an awesome pair of gore tex winter running shoes and they were amazing, they kept my feet insulated and the bottoms had grips. Some how I lost them on a recent move and I am so upset! I also can’t seem to find a new pair any where. I have also used the foot warmers, they are thinner than the ones for your hands and you can stick them in your shoe, but I was not a huge fan of those.

Mmmm i love a vodka slice, or one with Alllll of the vegetables :-)
