Have you tried this (I need your opinion) + how he shows he is thinking about me.

Good morning!  Skye was obviously not ready to wake up and start the day yesterday morning after eating.  She just wanted to climb right back in bed.  I completely understand.

Brooke is on a pink boots streak. I wouldn’t be surprised if she wants to keep her streak with these boots going throughout this summer too.  PS I don’t know where she learned how to pose like this because I sure don’t know how to do the leg pop.

IMG 8671

We did the school drop-off thing.  Brooke was pretty bummed to say goodbye to Knox.  They had a fun weekend together.

IMG 8675

I went out for a 2.5 mile run @ 8:54 average pace.  It felt so nice outside that I sat on the stairs for a few minutes afterwards.   All of the snow (other than the snowmen) is gone… hallelujah!

Random thought from my run… there were a bunch of trash cans out while I was running and I couldn’t even smell them.  When I was pregnant I hated running on trash day so much because of the smell, it made me so sick.  I don’t miss my hyperactive smelling abilities anymore.

IMG 8681

While I was out on my run I received this text from Andrew:

IMG 8678

And one more chin/cheek update on Skye before we move along.

IMG 8697

Andrew left on his run and then spent pretty much every minute (besides dinner) of the day studying.  He has a huge test today that he is taking so if you have a second, send him some positive thoughts.  `

I love that Skye is excited to see us now and that she is much more interactive… for that first 6 weeks I felt like all I was to her was her food source (okay, that’s still probably the main reason she smiles when she sees me now too… FOOD;).

IMG 8691

Lunch yesterday included three eggs, one sweet potato, onions and a bunch of spinach to go along with some bacon, toast and raspberries.  I can’t get enough of these types of meals.

IMG 8705

Later on in the afternoon Candice came over and picked Brooke up to go play with her girls.  Skye needed a nap.  My to-do list had about 4059 things on it (including writing a better blog post than this one ha;) but I decided there is nothing wrong with taking some time to relax.  Skye has helped me to slow down and realize I don’t need to be busy 100% of the time.  Rest is good.

IMG 8709

I eventually put her down to nap and when I went out to the kitchen I found this last little sliver of brownie left.  Andrew told me that this is how he shows that he is thinking about me ha… he wanted me to have the last bite;)

IMG 8720

We picked up Brooke and then we were on our way to Costco to pick up some food (we were out of everything) and somehow Costco didn’t happen…

IMG 8723

We realized we were too hungry and too tired to shop so we stopped at a new pizza place by Costco instead ha.

IMG 8725

Maybe grocery shopping will happen today or maybe I’ll end up eating another one of these pizzas because it was amazing.

IMG 8726

We all hung out for a minute on the couch before Brooke went to bed.

IMG 8739

And then the three of us watched the Bachelor (well, Andrew studied and Skye was busy rolling her eyes over all of the drama).

IMG 8729

Our Bachelor watching snack… I found some candy from Christmas.  Red and green gummy bears, the only two delicious flavors of gummy bears.

IMG 8742

SOOOOO…. I went to one of Megan’s bootcamp classes last week (I modified a bunch of things and I was STILL sore for a few days afterwards).  I’m going to continue going to her classes once a week!  I am really excited to gain some strength and I NEED a group setting (and Megan telling me what to do) to get going!

IMG 0297

Along the lines of strength training classes, I wanted to ask you—>  Have you tried Orange Theory?  I got a coupon for a free class so I’m wondering if I should go and try it out next week.  I’m not the best at getting out of my fitness comfort zone (hence why I love our sport—>  run in a straight line = happiness for me) but I think I’m going to try it out.  Anything I should know before going?!

PS I think both kids have better push-up form than I do currently so I’m hoping to work on that at bootcamp;)

IMG 8658

—————————————————————————————–

I have a cough that is bugging me but I feel like I can’t do anything to help it since I am breastfeeding!  Anyone have any ideas of something that would help?  I have a humidifier right next to my bed but that’s about all I have done so far!

Ever tried Orange Theory?  What did you think?  Should I try it?

What was the last NEW TO YOU fitness class/activity/thing that you have tried?

Do you have a specific day that you do laundry or do you try to keep up with it throughout the week?

-I used to do it a specific day but now with Skye, I am doing a load every day otherwise the laundry pile gets too out of control.

I’ve never tried Orange Theory but I would love to take a class! You should definitely do it! And report back ;)
This morning I tried out a resistance band workout for the first time…holy shoulders!!!! My arms are still shaking as I type this!
I used to do laundry every Sunday but now I do couple loads per week and like it so much better!

For your cough…I know this sounds weird, but get some regular Coke (can try caffeine free if you want since you’re breast feeding) and warm it up on the stove (not quite boiling) and then add some fresh sliced ginger to it. Let it steep for 5 minutes and then drink while it is still warm. It doesn’t taste great necessarily but somehow it works for a cough! My former boss told me about this over 10 years ago and I tell everyone! Hope it helps.

Reply

I am totally going to try this Danielle! Thank you so much… Going to go to the store to get it. I really appreciate you taking the time to tell me about this! Have a beautiful day!

OMG, Brooke definitely inherited you and your sister’s gorgeous hair!! And I love that Andrew saved that last bit of brownie for you—that’s love. :) Praying for him and his test today!

I rarely have time during my weekdays, so I typically do laundry on Sundays. Also, I really wish I had a bag of red and green gummy bears right now (though I wouldn’t mind if the clear pineapple-flavored ones were in there, too)!!

Reply

I love Orangetheory!! Definitely try it! The only danger is that you might get hooked ;) But seriously, they’re awesome treadmill (or bike, if that’s what you’re feeling) workouts, and then the strength cross-training that we all need! The classes are super fun and usually fly by.

Reply

HAHAH that is a great danger to experience;) Thank you so much… I seriously cannot wait! I hope your Tuesday is a great one!

Honey for your cough!!!
Never tried Orange Theory (we live in the woods in Maine, so, there’s nothing really cool near us. haha!)

Reply

THANK YOU RAE-ANNE!! I tried it this morning before my run and it helped so much! I hope you are having a great day!

That’s what my mom says to do… a spoonful a day.

I have never tried Orange Theory, but I think Ali Feller (Ali on the Run) is a big fan of them. I am so sorry about your cough! I would try Zicam. Feel better!

Reply

I haven’t ever tried orange theory but I’ve heard good hints. I honestly wasn’t even sure what it was for a long time.

I love workout classes but haven’t been to one since my son was born. My gym pass expired and I didn’t want to pay for another one.

Andrew: Walk in like a ROCKSTAR!!!

Janae: So many good posts! Havent been commenting, but LOVING the pics of Skye (and Brooke and Knox and you and Beretta and Andrew!!)

You got this, Andrew!! Rock star!! ⭐️ Game face on!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I showed Andrew your comment… he takes it in 36 minutes wahoo! Thanks and I hope you are having a beautiful day!

I love Orange Theory! Never the same work-out! I easily burn 550-650 calories in an hour. I use to be a long distance runner but have needed some more variety in my life and less wear and tear on my knees. I am so glad we finally got one near by. I also love that my boyfriend enjoys it so its something we can do together. We are hooked!

Reply

WOW AMY… that is awesome. Your comment made me even more excited to try it! I can’t wait. Thank you and I hope you are having a beautiful day. Also, if you get a chance to answer… how many times a week do you go?

Reply

I go 4 days a week. I continue to take a spin class I love one day a week and then body pump another day. Classes are either endurance (which us runners love), strength (lots of hills/rowing), and power (lots of fast runs–even better). Classes will either be one of the above or a combination of 2 or 3. There are also theme weeks and classes called Mt. Everest or Tornado days. You never know what you are getting each day. If you do try a class one thing to consider is the size of the class. For example, our class holds 26 people. Half start on the treadmills and the other half on weights. Some of the more popular class times are 3G which a 1/3 of the class starts on treadmill, 1/3 on the rower and the other 1/3 on the weights. Some people don’t like 3G due to the class size. I like the variety and the fact that usually get more cardio in. For your first class though you may want to avoid 3G.

Reply

AMY! Thank you so much for getting back to me. That is so great that you go 4 days a week! THANK YOU for explaining everything to me more… I really appreciate it! I can’t wait to try it!

Reply

I love Orange Theory. It is an amazing workout in 60 minutes and a great way to get strength and cardio in at the same time. You do a lot of interval training on the treadmill and I am not great at doing that on my own and that is really helping my running. I have also learned a lot of great new strength training exercises. They also have a lot of weekly and monthly challenges that are fun (er well fun may not be the right word). Give it a try, I think you will really like it. P.S. my mum was telling me about a new Mexican restaurant by their house and she wasn’t sure if they should try it, after about 10 minutes of her talking about it I asked her the name, Cafe Rio. I told her to hang up the phone and go immediately! She will thank me afterwards.

Reply

Okay, the Cafe Rio story just made my morning! Let me know what she thinks about it!! Your explanation of Orange Theory sounds like I will absolutely love it. I can’t wait! Thanks Lisa, have an amazing day!

Reply

I’ve only done Orange Theory once (I don’t live near a location) and I loved it!! However, it is seriously intense – at least for someone like me who tends to be competitive – so I don’t know if I would recommend it so soon postpartum! I think you would be able to enjoy it a lot more if you wait a month or so.

Reply

THANK YOU ANGELA… that is so true! Maybe I’ll give it some more time or at least force myself to not be competitive (if that is possible ha)! Have an amazing day!

Reply

I am currently doing Orange Theory 1-2 times a week. It is as hard as you want it to be. You seem like the kind of person who wants to go 110% in a group setting ( I am the same way) so I would recommend making sure your body feels completely healed so if you want to push yourself out of your comfort zone your body doesnt respond negatively. The classes are really motivating beacuse you are surrounded by people working really hard and you have calorie/HR/Splat point numbers to look througout the entire workout!! I would love to hear back about your OT experience!

Reply

That is SO true.. thank you Heather! I seriously cannot wait to try it and I’ll write a full post about it once I do. I wish we could go together! I hope you have a wonderful day!

Reply

LOVE orange theory work outs. They are a great suppplement workout for running because it’s intervals and strength all in one. Each day is either focused on strength, endurance or power so it could be a heavy running/rowing or more heavy weights. The class FLIES by and without a doubt I am dead by the end. Definitely my favorite work out I’ve ever done!

Reply

This seriously sounds like so much fun! Thank you Ashley! I wish we could all go to a class together:) I hope your Tuesday is a great one:)

Reply

Good luck Andrew! I tend to do laundry all throughout the week. I do specific loads on some days. The kids laundry gets done on the weekend so they are ready to go for the school week.

Reply

Hey Janae:) I’m glad you’re back into running and that time…oh my God! You’re rocking it!!

I haven’t tried anything new as far as exercising. I’m still running and I’m loving it more than ever. Also, I think I’m becoming faster and stronger which keeps me even more motivated to not try anything else beyond of what my training plan calls for:)

My laundry days are definitely Sundays. If I don’t do it on Sundays…you’ll see me watching my running clothes here and there throughout the week, which is extremely annoying for me haha.

Reply

I tried OrangeTheory for the first time a couple of months ago and I loved it! I went because my husband started going and he never likes group fitness settings, but he loves their work-outs. For me, it is a great way to mix up your running and get some cross training. I had never used the rowing machine and after a quick lesson from the trainer before the class, I was loving it!

The downside is I think it is kind of expensive if you already belong to another gym, but I plan on asking for a class package for my birthday gift so I can mix it up every once in a while. Give it a try for your free class. It’s fun, intense and lots of loud music!

Reply

I had always heard honey for a cough but I just heard pineapple will help. Either way…can’t go wrong with those suggestions! Tasty for sure!

Reply

Pineapple… that sounds awesome! THANK YOU Bridgette and I hope you have a great day!

Reply

Janae! Great post! Syke is so cute!! Orange Theory is SUPER intense. So, I would side with the others here that have mentioned maybe holding off until you are well past the post-partum phase. I know you can choose how hard to work, but I feel there is a lot of pressure to go all out. Whenever you do go, I look forward to your review. I hope your cough gets better!!

Reply

That is SO TRUE. I don’t know if I know how to not push it in situations like this ha so I will definitely wait a little bit longer. Thank you so much Alisha and I hope you have a great day!

You are awesome! I hope you have a great day too!!

I love orange theory. I just don’t go because I have a gym membership w a daycare, and orange theory is all extra. But it is really fun!!

Reply

Too bad your gym doesn’t offer it… that would be perfect with the $$ and daycare. Maybe someday;) I hope your Tuesday is a great one Sara!

Reply

Good luck on your test, Andrew! :) I do my laundry on specific days throughout the week and love it. I change all the bed sheets and wash them on one day. Clothes are split into 2-3 days depending on the load that week, and then towels (bath towels and towels we use around the house to clean) on another day. During the summer, there’s the added swim load, too. :) Have a great day, Janae!

Reply

Wishing Andrew all the best on his test today!!
Now, I’m intrigued! What is Orange Theory? I don’t do group fitness classes, so I’m not really up on the new/current ones. I keep thinking that I should do some classes, I need to get better at adding strength training into my running ;)
I usually start laundry Sunday nights (at least one load) and then finish it up Monday. I like to have everything clean to start the week. :)

Reply

I try to get all my laundry done on Fridays. I’m one of those weird people who actually enjoys laundry. I love seeing all the possibilities in my closet after I’ve put everything away.

Reply

I’ve tried a LOT of workouts but never Orange Theory because I usually try new studios through Class Pass or free trials, and OT doesn’t offer ANY freebies in the NY area. I have friends who love it, though.

I am currently working through a free month of Class Pass classes, and trying to do lots of new things. This month, I tried a bootcamp-style class (hated it!), a heavy lifting class (great), an Olympic lifting class (different, but interesting), and I’m trying a modified Crossfit class today…wish me luck! I’ve been motivated to try new things because the last time I did a free class offer, I tried a lifting class that I absolutely loved, and wound up joining the studio. It was definitely the thing I needed to go from wanting to try heavy lifting and being too scared to feeling confident enough to do it regularly. Not that I’m great, but I’m working on it. =)

Good luck to Andrew on his test!

Reply

Skye is so precious!! I haven’t tried Orange Theory, but I have heard really great things!! Have a great day!!

Reply

Love Orange Theory I’ve been going consistently for about 2 years now and still love it. I think you would love it – running, strength training and rowing and its always a differently class. Its really helped with my running and forces me to do those hills that I don’t get in my normal running routes.

Reply

Run!!! Don’t walk to Orange Theory!! I’m at coach and I am obsessed. A) it’s called the best workout in the nation for a reason B) it’s the best employer I’ve ever had C) it will do incredible things to your running. Go!!!!

Reply

I want to come to YOUR classes… how fun would that be?! I can’t wait to try it out. Thank you Colleen!!

Reply

I want to try orange theory but there’s not one here. If you do try it, be sure to let us know what you think!
I do my and my husband’s laundry on the weekend, the baby’s laundry whenever he’s running low on clothes (which is almost never because his grandma sent him like 20 pairs of jammies), and other laundry (bed sheets, couch covers) whenever I get motivated or fed up with dog hair.
That’s sweet Andrew left you the last bit of brownie! My husband finished our pack of oreos the other day and I gave him such a hard time about it.

Reply

OTF is amazing! You’ll love it! I enjoy it because it moves me out of my comfort zone (hello inclines and sprints), as well as, provides some great crosstraining (weights and rower). I’ve knocked some killer PRs out in my 5k and Half and owe it to OrangeTheory.

Reply

Did you go to Medicis? We need to go there together!!!! Soon!!!!

And those chins. Love, love, love.

I am a big fan of herbal tea with lemon and honey to help with a cough – if you don’t like tea, or it will impact breastfeeding, try just hot water with lemon and honey. A pinch of salt can help with a swollen/sore throat, even though that won’t taste great all together. It works though!
Sundays are my laundry days and I like it because I also do other chores and food prep in between laundry loads, so when it comes time for me to relax and enjoy my day without working, I can totally relax because all my chores are done!

Reply

I LOVE Orangetheory! I would expect you to like it quite a bit. It’s a lot of fun for a runner. And gives us lots of good cross training. Enjoy it!

Reply

Ever tried Orange Theory? YES. It’s my favorite workout!!! I did cross-fit for two years, but I just love endurance and so sometimes it just didn’t cut it for me. I’d find the workouts sometimes boring. Orange theory completely kicks my trash when I go. I feel as if I get an amazing workout in both the cardio & strength department.

What was the last NEW TO YOU fitness class/activity/thing that you have tried? Sprint at Golds Gym. It was definitely fun!

Do you have a specific day that you do laundry or do you try to keep up with it throughout the week?
Sundays & Wednesdays

Reply

Try putting coconut oil in some herbal tea. Do it a few times a day and drink tons of warm water with lemon.

Let me live vicariously through your Orange Theory trial! I’ve been wanting someone to tell me what it’s all about so I can decide if I want to try too! :)

Reply

I’ve tried OTF and I loved it. It’s a really great workout. My big problem with it is that I would still need a regular gym membership because I want access to a pool/treadmill/yoga/pilates classes that OTF doesn’t offer. And you have to show up at the assigned class time – you can’t just drop in when it’s convenient for you. It’s cost prohibitive to do both.

Reply

I’m sorry about your cough. When my boys were small they hated any sort of cough syrup (who can blame them!) so, I looked up alternatives and the one that really seemed to help was warmed up grape juice (purple) with honey. Hope you find something that helps.

Reply

I love Orangetheory and I think you’d be fine doing it now. I worked out while pregnant at OTF. Also, you are past your 6 week clearance. Most women I know come back to OTF after 6 weeks. I mean the maximum amount of time you’ll be on the treadmill is 28 minutes and you are already doing bootcamp, I think you will be totally fine. But tell the trainer that you just had a baby before class and they will watch out for you. And you can modify everything. I’ve been going for 3.5 years, it is the most efficient workout I’ve found in an hour.

Reply

I need to do more strength training too! It’s one of my goals for the next several months. I don’t know why but its always harder to keep up with the little things when I’m not training for a race. But I know it’s important to stay on top of it!

Reply

Speaking of how he shows he cares, have you read the five love languages? If so, what’s your primary love language?

I’ve heard that pineapple juice helps when you have a cough. I’ve used honey and that has helped me. Hope it goes away soon!

I do laundry throughout the week. My husband and I only have one child and I feel like it is always piled up! I can’t imagine if there were more of us. There is always so much laundry!

Reply

drinking Elderberry syrup and putting thyme on your chest along with diffusing it will help with your cough.

Reply

Vick’s vaporizer night light plug in it helped us a lot!

Reply

I have never tried Orange Theory. Laundry gets done on any day of the week – mostly my running clothes haha

For any illness or cough, I highly recommend hot water, ginger, lemon and honey.

The last new to me class was a pure barre class a year ago.

Have a great day!

Reply

My last two doctors have both said that studies have shown that honey is more effective for coughs than any over-the-counter cough medicine. I use it with lemon in herbal tea or hot water like Rhiannon but Karissa’s suggestion of warm grape juice with honey sounds like it might taste even better. I will definitely be trying that one with my boys!

Laundry: Towels and darks on Tuesday, whites and lights on Wednesday, folding and any overflow on Thursday. All in theory, of course.

Reply

Hey girl! Never tried Orange Theory… I like to stick with what I know, running and crossfit, but I have friends who do it and they LOVE it!

Skye is so precious with those chins! Double baby chins are the best!

I’m breastfeeding also and I’ve found that hot water with honey and lemon works for me when I get a cough. ?

Good luck today Andrew on the test!

I’ve never done OTF but I have a friend who does it and loves it.

Two adults and 3 teens in my house means laundry 5-6 days a week. :/ But I try to assign out who gets what washed on a certain day, so I’m never going more than 7 days on anyone’s laundry. If I manage the rest of my day well and there are no real monkey wrenches, I can usually stay on top of things.

Reply

For your cough I swear by Immunity Shots https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001E0WJIG/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and Emergen-C https://www.emergenc.com/ both of which you should be able to take while breast feeding :)

Gosh, I haven’t tried a new fitness class in ages, but boot camp has something different every day so I feel like it’s a new class :)

My kids do their own laundry now so we each have our designated day and I get the weekend. It works great and my oh my, them doing their own laundry is the absolute best thing ever!!

I’ve never tried Orange Theory–I’m afraid that I might like it (I tend to like INTENSITY in my workouts), and it’s WAY too expensive for me to justify (even if I was to do some fancy budgeting). For exercise, aside from running and yoga and straight up un-sexy strength work like deadlifts, squats, and bicep curls, I am *obsessed* with the various Les Mills programs out there. Have you heard of them? Gyms that license the classes offer them–there are spin classes, calisthenics/sports drills classes, MMA-based cardio kickboxing classes, weight lifting classes, yoga/pilates/tai chi classes, and SO MUCH MORE! I am certified to teach Les Mills Body Flow (yoga, pilates, and tai chi-inspired workout), and a week ago I came home from initial training to become certified in Les Mills RPM–a 45 minute spin class! I should be done with this whole certification process by mid-March! Les Mills also has a really inexpensive “on demand” service at home (actually called Les Mills On Demand). You might like some of the workouts–the sports drills-based class, Body Attack, can help with agility in your running and the HIIT classes (the GRIT series) can help with strength training and metabolic conditioning, and CxWorx can help with core strength!

I tried Kodiak Cakes for the first time this morning. I noticed the big boxes of them at Costco on Friday when my husband and I got a membership, but I didn’t want to get a box in case they didn’t work for my sensitive digestive system. INSTEAD, I got an individual microwave cup of the buttermilk & maple kodiak cakes from the hot cereal section at Target and had it for breakfast this morning. I loved it!!! Somehow, I just had to tell you–I heard of Kodiak Cakes because of your blog, and when I saw them I just had this thought “I need to try these! I hear they’re amazing!”

So far, my body feels good and my breakfast was delicious. I might have to incorporate these into my meal planning!

Reply

TOTALLY agree on the Les Mills classes! i joined a new gym in june and thats basically what they offer at all their locations. so much variety! and i love most of the classes I’ve tried, they really work you hard, they’re super fun, and the instructors are great, super knowledgable and likable, too. huge fan over here :)

Reply

You’ve got this, Andrew! Kudos to you for staying strong with school, it can’t be easy on limited sleep. And those cheeks… and chins… the best!

Reply

I tried Orange Theory and I hated it! I realize this is weird, but the super low, orange lighting was SO depressing! I need sunshine or light and at the very least a window when I work out. The actual workout was fantastic, but the atmosphere left me feeling really down in the dumps.

Also, they were very pushy when I decided that it wasn’t for me. I relieved endless phone calls and emails for months. They wouldn’t leave me alone! So if you’re not seriously considering joining I would not use the free coupon so you can avoid the harassment.

Also it’s $$$ compared to my gym membership.

Reply

Every studio is different and some do have windows / doors to the outside. Also, again my friends have tried OTF and never received pushy calls. I think it depends on the studio…

Reply

I have never been to a studio before. I filled out something for a free session at a health fair and had non-stop calls after that. It really turned me off!

Reply

Good luck Andrew!!! I hope you “ace” your test. Skye is adorable. I love her cheeks and chins. My daughter had chubby cheeks when she was a baby. It looked like she was storing nuts for the winter. We used to call her chipmunk cheeks!!!! Have a great day.

Reply

I love love love Orange Theory. I’ve been going for over a year and can’t get enough. IT isn’t cheap but I think it’s worth it. I found the class confusing my first time but quickly got the hang of it. They really encourage the heat rate monitors but you don’t have to wear or buy one. I think it has made me a stronger the inner. I hope you try it and it love it too!

Reply

You will love OTF! I was very hesitant to join as I am like you and was very happy with my running as it was. But, I have significantly dropped PR times in my half and full marathon times after doing it for three years now. Can’t wait to hear what you think!

Reply

Orange Theory is great but I’m kinda surprised it has such a following because its just so simplistic. Basically there are 3 stations, and you are kind of on your own at each, working as hard as you want.
1) treadmill
2) row machine
3) Usually 3 sets of some sort of strength training.
I guess I would say you can replicate this at home pretty easy, and for sure at the gym. I say that because it’s soo expensive, like $38 a class….

Reply

I am going to orange theory Thursday night will let you know! They are doing a free demo with my running store as they just opened near them.

Reply

Orangetheory is awesome!! It’s so addicting. I thought I’d try it for a few months but it’s been over a year and I still love it. I’ve heard people complain that they don’t teach you form on things, but if you know most of the weights exercises and good rowing technique you will be fine! There is only one trainer and up to 30 people so they can’t get to everyone. It’s the perfect mix of cardio and strength for me :)

Reply

I went to 1 Orange theory class since your first class is free. I’m not a runner, but I like how you are able to choose to walk/jog on the treadmill. It definitely left me sore, but I also did it after not consistently working out for a while. After the first class, you have to invest in THEIR heart rate monitor. It’s definitely expensive but the group setting and their trainers are nice.

Reply

March will be a year of Orangetheory for me, and I absolutely love it! It’s the only work out that I actually look forward to doing, and I’ve seen so many positive changes in my body! Also, fun fact since I know you’re a Chip and JoJo fan – I’ve seen her in class a few times!

Reply

Good luck to Andrew on his test!

Reply

I have not tried orange theory yet but my friend (who is a new-ish mom) tried it a few months ago and loves it! Now she goes a few times a week. I’ve been super into other boot camp type workouts lately. My gym does a boot camp class on Saturday’s that’s the perfect balance of hard workout but still fun. I’m also doing kickboxing classes a few times a week and loving them. In fact, I’m loving the strength type classes so much I’ve been choosing them over running lot of days of the week (who am I?) . But I definitely feel my self getting stronger and I know that’ll all help once I feel like transitioning back into more serious running/ training. I’m curious to hear what you think of Orange Theory! I’ve been wanting to check it out but am like 95% sure I’ll be obsessed, and I don’t exactly need another workout love that I need to pay for right now… lol

Good luck to Andrew on his test!! I bet he’ll do awesome!!

I haven’t ever tried Orange Theory before but I’ve heard it’s such a good workout!! I have it on my to-do list to try out!

I recently took my first ever spin class and absolutely LOVED it!!! It was such a blast! I’m totally hooked and am so glad I found a new way to cross-train alongside my running and yoga!

Can you stand honey? If so it helps with a cough. I drink a lot of water and I use a vaporizer because I like the steam while I sleep. Standing in a steamy shower also helps.

I also have a coupon for Orange Theory that I’m interested in using. Last year I tried reformer Pilates and MVE Chair Pilates. I had done mat Pilates before but these took it to a new level.

I do laundry when the hamper is almost full, the day varies. If I am particularly busy I just throw a load in when I know I’ll be there to let the washer and dryer run their cycles.

I love orange theory! When I’m in the us fir a month it’s his I cross train.
For the cough….Vicks on your chest and bottoms of your feet with socks just. And this is weird, but works….cut a whole onion in 1/4ths and wrap in a tea towel and keep by the head of your bed.

I’ve done orange theory for about a year and a half now and I LOVE IT. I have found it to be the BEST cross-training for running, and I have seen my times improve across every distance. I recommend it to anyone who loves cardio who is in need of some strength training! Each class is a mix of rowing, strength training, and a treadmill workout. I typically get between 2-3 miles on the tread, depending on the workout. The classes vary each time, so if you’re first class isn’t your favorite, don’t give it up right away. AHH I hope you try it out! It’d be a great mix for you. xoxo!

Andrew must REALLY love you, b/c it’s well known that the corner brownie is the best brownie, far superior to the inner brownies. It’s got the maximum amount of chewy corner-y goodness, that’s why!
Skye’s chins make me smile. Your family is just beautiful!!!

I tried Orange Theory back in December and loved the workout- its a good mix of cardio (treadmill and rower) and weights. It is very pricey though and a huge commitment and one that i can’t make right now because of young children. They also charge you $12 if you sign up for a class and miss it. They will try to sell you hard on joining so if you don’t like being talked into buying something it may be tough.

As far as a cough goes, I always mix hot water, lemon, honey, and a dash of cayenne pepper. It seems to help. Good luck!

I’m not familiar with orange therapy. It must not be where I live.
What size pan do you like for your brownies? I love that you got the last piece, my husband usually finishes off the treats I make. Haha. We’ve both got a strong sweet tooth.

I need to catch up on posts! Katie brought her laundry over from her dad’s today and I remember when I was pregnant, I found their laundry detergent to be super strong and now I can barely smell it. SO WEIRD. Ha ha ha! I kept texting Jason back then asking him if he started using new detergent or if he has super strong air fresheners in their house and he was so confused because he hadn’t changed anything. I was a bit rude about it too. Typical.

i was going to ask how school was going for andrew…best of luck of the test! you’re gonna kill it!
love you shoes! launches are the best.
haven’t tried orange theory yet, but its been on my ‘to try’ since last year! i’m with you…just stick to my routing and classes at my gym bc I’m paying for it and extra expense just isn’t worth it to me. plus tons of fun classes to keep up my strength training. totally agree with the class thing…on my own, rarely lift. but when someone tells me what to do and other people are around me, so fun and it gets done!

LOVE OrangeTheory!!!!!!!! It helps with running strength since they involve the core work most runners forget to do. I am still recovering from a stress fracture in my foot but was still able to go and do my work outs since the instructors can modify the exercises. It’s an addiction so be prepared….but at least it is a healthy one!

For a stubborn cough I drink tea with fresh ground pepper steeped in it and honey. The honey coats the throat and the pepper give a bit of a warming to stop the tickle.

I have a feeling I am way late to the party and Andrew already nailed his test so good luck on the next one Andrew!
I really enjoy Orange Theory….but I highly recommend going a few times to get a feel for it, they rotate between strength, power, endurance and ESP (a combo of the three) days so it is good to experience each different type of class. I credit a lot of my PRs to Orange. Can’t wait to hear what you think.

Hi Sorry this is kinda late but I have a great natural home remedy for coughing / congestion/sinus issues. It has helped me numerous times. Heat up 2 cups of tomato or V8 juice, 1 tbsp. of fresh garlic, as much hot suace or cayenne pepper as you can stand and 1 tbsp. of lemon juice. Warm it all up in the microwave and drink this 3 times a day. It’ll clear ya right up. (I have to plug my nose and chug but it works!)

Orange theory is an awesome workout but just be warned they are suuuuuper pushy about selling a membership after the class (at least that was my experience). I’m a super people pleaser so I felt really awkward having to say no over and over.

i haven’t tried Orange Theory, but the folks I know that do it LOVE it. i usually work out at home but i do a group class called WERQ on the weekends – i love it! it’s similar to Zumba but is more dance-inspired and uses more popular top 40/hip hop music. it feels like we’re just dancing around for an hour so the time flies by!
