Hello everyone!  I cannot thank you enough for your sweet words the last few days.  We feel so loved!

My mom brought Knox and Brooke to the hospital for them to meet Skye on Saturday morning!  At first the kids were a little cautious and not really sure what to think of her but by the end of the visit they didn’t want to leave her side.  It was a ridiculously special morning for all of us!  And I will give you all the details of everything soon!  We decided to head home last night (we MISSED OUR BED and not hearing people walk by the door throughout the night ha) but Brooke and Knox won’t be home until a bit later.

I loved seeing their little eyes watch her.  I think they were envisioning all of their future adventures that they were going to have together!

We are spending our time figuring out this little girl and cuddling non-stop.  This is pretty amazing.

These pictures are so so special! Yesterday was my son ‘s 8th birthday party and we looked at pictures from the time when he was Sky’s size. It is crazy how fast they grow, we really have to enjoy every day! Glad to read you are back home. Take care!

Yayayay!!! SOO happy for you!! While I’m only a year and a half or so into your blog, it’s been clear to me how important family is for you. Your (and Andrew’s!) strength through divorce, being a single parent, and working to make the best for your kids through care, education, “family nights,” and so much more..it’s just such a good example to all of us. I’m so happy to see the delivery went through well, your family is there, and your kids are accepting and excited of the new Skye– the new life!

I know it’ll be different post-hospital and tough in many ways, but you’re so strong, and you demonstrate again and again how much you care about creating a good, encouraging environment for your kids to grow, learn, and truly blossom. Good on you, Janae, and through the struggles remember this, the challenges, the high points.. I know I don’t need to tell you any of those things, but !

So happy for you, and so happy it went well!!

How exciting! You knew your body the other day when you said it felt off and the time was close! She’s precious and beautiful. And what a good idea to come home but have the big kids be at your moms so it’s not all oberwheleming at first. And of course you look beautiful after just giving birth!

So so happy for you Janae, and you look so wonderful! I look like a TRAIN WRECK after I have a baby!!! You definitely were made for mommy-hood :) Remember to do lots of skin to skin with that sweet angel! I just had baby #7 in August and this was the first pregnancy that I learned that a study done on newborns who were doing skin to skin showed that their brain waves were unchartable when they were skin to skin! Can be with you or Andrew or even Knox or Brooke! but I think Momma is best for awhile as you are the most familiar to her. It always seemed to calm Jonah the most that first week when he was fussy. I would just strip him to his diaper and just have my bra on, put him on my chest and cover us with a warm blanket. Also made him nurse better sometimes.
AND even though this was baby #7, nursing is always a learning curve for me each time. The first month is always the hardest (I always questioned if they are getting enough and is the latch right and WHY do my nipples hurt so bad and WHY is the baby wanting to eat so often, or why are they waking to eat right now???) LOL :) You’ll do great. Just remember to stay well hydrated and well fed and rest rest rest (doing too much to soon can affect your milk supply). Congrats again. So happy for you <3

Lovely pictures! My 15 k race got cancelled today due to snow. I was a bit disapointed but relieved too. It would have been an adventure, but running in a snowstorm would not be a fun thing really. And dangerous too. So we went for a walk in our own neighbourhood, that was beautiful and fun too. (Holland is not used to snow, the children have a snow day tomorrow, and we’re allowed to work from home.) Take plenty of rest, don’t use naptime to do chores. This was my mistake when our second son was born, doing too much when they both had their naps.

Aww, she is so cute! You have given Knox and Brooke the best present ever!

Congratulations! Sending prayers to you all. I remember right before I had my daughter I heard that we should remember that when we’re waking up each night for multiple feedings that there are mothers all over the world doing the same thing. It really made me feel better, like I wasn’t alone in it. I highly recommend the book “the power of the praying parent” by stormie omartian–I used to pray a couple of the prayers during those quiet middle of the night feedings. Such precious times.
