Stories from my iPhone + Hard is GOOD.

I’ve got a bunch of stories to share with you today from my phone so let’s go ahead and get started (PS I hope your weekend was a great one)!

*It was just Andrew and me for church yesterday.  We were on time, only packed snacks for ourselves ha and heard every word.  Kind of a different Sunday for us;).  With the blended family business we every now and then have kidless weekends and yesterday we realized we won’t have both kids for a few days over Thanksgiving and then from that point forward, even when Brooke and Knox are both gone we will always have our new little one with us.  We took advantage of our lastish kidless weekend by sleeping in until 9.

*I brought these snacks for me during church… I don’t feel as bad for taking the Yorks out of our Halloween stash because most trick-or-treaters don’t come near these.  They go straight for the Snickers.

IMG E0103

*After church I went through all of the baby’s clothes and washed them and put them away.  Nesting is hitting me hard!

IMG 0108 2

*Brooke came home at six and filled us in on her weekend of fun and snuggled with us for a while before bedtime (as she is getting older she is going to bed earlier… 7:30 now ((she used to go to bed at 8 or 8:30… I think Kindergarten makes her tired))!

*I think Beretta misses the kids a lot while they are gone too… Saturday morning I found her on Brooke’s bed like this:)

IMG 9964

*On Saturday after the race I went to eat with my sister that isn’t technically my sister… I grew up with her (she and my sis were inseparable) and she lived with us while I was in Jr. High and she helped me through many of those traumatic days as a 13 year old;)

IMG 0053

*We had Noodles and Co for lunch.  Andrew doesn’t like this place so I gladly go whenever I eat out without him.  Someday he’ll realize how good it is.

IMG E0052 2

*After Andrew finished up with school for the day (a lot of his classes/labs/rotations are on the weekends) he took me out on a date.

IMG 0060

*We wanted to try something new so we went to Station 22 for dinner.  We started out with hush puppies (my first time ever eating those), fries and sweet potato fries.

IMG 0062

*And then I had a grilled cheese sandwich with apples and chicken on it too… sounds strange but it tasted delicious.  Also, I LOVE when restaurants give you extra large glasses—>  give me all of the water right now.

IMG 0063

*An acai bowl for dessert afterwards.

IMG 0068

*And then he planned for us to go play some tennis.  It has been forever since we last played… we didn’t play an actual game, we just hit the ball back and forth which was really fun.

IMG 0075

*Gloves while playing tennis?!  Sure… why not.  Andrew was in shorts and a t-shirt.  Our personal thermostats are a little bit different.

IMG 0070

*In case you were wondering, my hot chocolate love is still going strong.  It accompanies most breakfasts for me.  I’m all about the Steven’s hot chocolate.

IMG 0090

*Our neighbor’s cat has made our kids REALLY want a cat.  Our only problem is that Beretta really does not like cats… so we will just have to continue to visit the neighbor’s house daily:)

IMG 8903

*Brooke is loving helping Andrew get the baby’s room ready!

IMG 9947

*Have you bought your Halloween candy yet (we need to go buy more because we bought ours too early)?  I came across these charts and while I don’t fully agree with the first chart of order of goodness… it is pretty close.  Milk Duds, Payday and Almond Joys need to be way higher up on the list.

*PS don’t forget to check out my race recap from the 5k:)

IMG 0034

*On Sundays I like to read over some church talks and one really stood out to me and I thought it was SO applicable to running life too.  It is all about how Hard Is Good.  It talks about the strength that hard things bring us, the humility and the chance it gives us to prove ourselves.  This had to be my favorite part:

Screen Shot 2017 10 29 at 2 26 25 PM

‘The variable is our REACTION to the hard’ <—  Could this be anymore true for our running?!   Races, hard workouts, long runs, increasing endurance, coming back after injury/sickness/having a baby, training for a new race, running early (or at a different time than we like to normally), the strength training, the foam rolling etc are all HARD parts of training but our reaction to those hard things make all of the difference.  My best races (time-wise) were not any easier than my worst races (time-wise).  They were both hard, extremely hard… but the way I reacted to the hard made all of the difference with my time on the clock.  PS and many times it is hard to make sure you are having enough easy miles and recovery days each week… so make sure that is a part of the plan too;)

IMG 0056

I really think this is going to be the secret for me when I come back to racing again…  I’ll be working with a coach again and doing the same thing I’ve done before in terms of workouts but I am excited to work towards viewing the hard differently than ever before.  I want to welcome the hard and accept that it is coming for me… I don’t want to be afraid of it.  I want to see how it strengthens me and how I grow from it.

Hard is good for us.  We would all be pretty weak mentally and physically without the hard stuff that pops up throughout life.  I just want to work on my reaction to the hard a bit because that will make all the difference in my life.  These hard things that you are doing with your training is doing so much for you… so keep at it.

So during your next workout or race, remember during that 4th interval or the last 2 miles of your race, this hard is good for you and the way that you react to these ‘hards’ (whether that be quitting, slowing down, pushing forward, keeping pace or staying positive etc) is where all of the difference is made in the end result.

———————————————————————————————–

And just in case you missed it, the three most viewed posts from last week were:

*One of Brooke’s happiest moments ever + an awesome runner’s gadget + ever brought a food group back in?

*Friday FAVES!!

*Which pain? + 2 debates I need your opinion on + she makes me feel more normal.

———————————————————————————————–

What was the last NEW to you (first time ever) food that you tried?

16 Miles! Boom. Have a wonderful week!

WAY TO GO HOLLI!! That is awesome!!!

Thank you, Janae! 2 more weeks of solid training will bring me to my taper and my best marathon training cycle in 3 years!

That pic of you right before church is so beautiful!

My most recent hard workout was Saturday. It was my longest and fastest run since my kidney surgeries, and I’m starting to feel strong again. I actually set a goal race (a 10K next month), so this week starts my even harder workouts with speed work and tempos. I’m sure that I’m going to have to remind myself about hard being part of the process during those workouts!

My favorite candies are gummy bears and Jolly Ranchers, but I know those aren’t that big on Halloween. I would say the winners are Reese’s, Twix, Snickers, and Kit Kats. That’s what my parents pass out every year (I don’t get trick-or-treaters at my apartment), and the bowl is always empty before the night ends!

Reply

The last new food I tried was sushi! Granted there was no fish (I don’t like seafood) but it was an aovocado and cucumber roll. I still need to buy Halloween candy! Do kids in apartment complexes trick or treat? I don’t know so that’s why I’m holding off!

Reply

best: take 5
worst: hard candies

Reply

About a month ago, I had crab rangoons for the first time. I would always refuse to eat them because I do not like fish or seafood…one of my friends finally convinced me, and the ones I had didn’t taste like anything besides cream cheese, green onions, and fried deliciousness. Not fishy at all!
Hmm… my 5k this past weekend was a fun run, but the first half of it was pretty much all up hill, so I would say that was pretty tough! I also don’t run many 5ks so I have to remind myself how to race them.
I have the BEST cat ever. I’ve only had him for about a month now (I’ve had cats off and on almost my whole life). He was a rescue kitty and was abused by his previous owner, which makes me SO sad. He is a great cat though, playful and entertaining, but super sweet and cuddly as well. He’s an orange tiger and he is a big-boned cat… he weighs 16lbs!
Best candy – Twix.
Worst candy – those weird toffee/taffy things wrapped in the orange and black wax paper… not idea what they are called, but they taste terrible.

Reply

I’ve had a cat for two years – he is a tabby with brown and black coat!

Reply

OH I love that name Katelyn! Can our kids come visit your cat!? I hope your day is a great one!

Reply

You look stunning in that first picture! I love how Brooke likes to help Andrew with the baby’s room, so cute!
The best Halloween candy to get is milky way midnight, yum! My kids always give them to me when they get them trick or treating because they know I love them! The worst is either tootsie rolls or those black and orange taffy candy things. So gross!

Reply

Oh I forgot about Milky Way Midnight… those are SO good. I need to get one of those ASAP:) You have trained your kids well! I hope your day is great so far!

Reply

Best: Milky Way
Worst: Any hard candy

New Food: Panera Breakfast Sandwich

Reply

Ohhhh how was the Panera breakfast sandwiches? I totally agree with you on the Milky Way:) I hope you are having a great day this morning!

Reply

Best: Take 5
Worst: junior mints (or York Peppermint Patties) YUCK

Reply

Send your minty candy over to me ha! I hope your day is a great one Allison and that you get plenty of Take 5s this week!

Reply

What did you think of the hushpuppies? I love them.

We have 2 cats, Leia & Solo – they are 15 years old and brother & sister.

Best candy: Twix
Worst: Butterfinger

Reply

We both really liked them! They were so different than anything I’ve tried before but we definitely really liked them! Oh I love that you have sibling cats! Oh Andrew disagrees big time with you about the butterfingers ha! I hope your Monday is a great one Amanda!

Reply

Funny that the Crunch is down on the list! That made it into my top 5 when I was little. thinking back to my youngun’ days: Reese’s #1, plain old hersheys, heath bar, crunch, gummys, nerds! (so fun) at the top… and oh yeah agreed on the whoppers – ick. also, payday, twizzlers, mike and ike’s, taffy, baby ruth (not a big fan of the nuts in whole form) at the bottom.

Reply

Um, if that picture is of the penne rosa, I think we get the exact same order from Noodles haha. I always get that without mushrooms, a side caesar salad, and garlic bread. How can Andrew not like it?!

We have 3 cats! I have had them all since they were babies and two of them (Simba and Nala) are 4 1/2 and one (Bella) is 3. Simba and Nala are sisters and look very similar – a tan-ish orange – and Bella is grey.

Reply

Sure wish we could go to Noodles together (I’ll take your mushrooms)! Oh our kids would LOVE your cats so much! Maybe we can borrow them!?!

Reply

i love that quote and paragraph about hard is good – strength DEFINITELY comes from struggle even when its hard to understand!!!! thank you for sharing that – and ps. that dress is gorgeous on you!

Reply

Thank you so so much Marti! I hope your Monday is a great one!!!

Reply

Hey girl! I LOVE the “hard is good” metaphor. I am going to read that sermon now! I am starting a new season of working on speed instead of distance and I’ve done one speed workout so far and it was SO hard. I think I’m going to use “hard is good” as my new mantra during hard speed workouts ;).

What did you think about the hushpuppies? I moved to the south 5 years ago and tried them for the first time then!

Reply

WAY TO GO on your speed workout this training season! You are doing awesome Eleanor. We LOVED the hushpuppies! I want to try a true southern one though… not sure if the Utah version is the same:) I hope you have a wonderful Monday!

Reply

Ahh, you look so gorgeous in your dress for church! I still haven’t tried an Acai bowl yet and have heard so much about it! We’ve been meaning to go hit some balls (tennis) with the kids and haven’t had a chance yet. My husband played in high school and I can’t really play but it’s still fun. Haha. That’s crazy that Andrew was still in shorts and a t-shirt. My husband and other guys always joke about how cold they got while the wives super hot during their pregnancy. Being pregnant is a built-in heater! I love your talk about the “hard”. It reminds me of a recent sermon where our pastor talked about how we all struggle and if you’re not struggling, you’re not living. That God takes us through ordeals to strengthen us. Also, in reference to working out, if it’s not hard and feels the same, you get the same results. We recently tried Korean fried chicken for the first time and LOVE it. It’s so crispy and flavorful! Best candy for me is Twix and one of the worst (man there’s a lot…haha) would probably be 3 Muskateers. I’d have to be in dire need of chocolate with nothing else around. Have a great day, Janae!

Reply

Oh I love that… if you aren’t struggling, you aren’t living. SO TRUE! Thank you for sharing Marie! Now I need some Korean fried chicken, that sounds amazing. I hope you get a Twix asap! Thanks girl and enjoy your Monday!

Reply

Best: Reese’s
Worst: Sweetarts

Reply

I have a cat! I’ve had her for almost 5 years now. She’s a brown/black/white tabby, so that means any color clothes I wear will show her shed fur, haha! Good thing she is so cute :)

Janae, have you ever done a post on how you found your coach, or how to find A coach in general? I seem to be getting injured every few months, usually when I’m following a training plan from a magazine, book, or website. I’m starting to think I can’t follow these rigid plans and need a coach’s help. Thanks in advance!

Reply

HEY EVE!! I am so so sorry about all of your injuries… not fun! I think a coach would be an excellent idea for you! I talk about how I found mine here:
https://hungryrunnergirl.com/2013/10/i-promise-this-is-not-an-exaggeration-and-finding-a-running-coach.html
And in the comments people talk about how they found theirs!
You can always go in and talk to your local running shoe store and see if they have any recommendations. Here is an awesome way to find a coach:
http://www.rrca.org/resources/runners/find-a-coach
And I’ll be open in a few months (once I get this newborn thing figured out:)!

I hope you have a beautiful day and my kids would LOVE your cat!

Reply

Cutest Sunday dress! I’m glad you were able to enjoy your “lastish kidless weekend” :) I lovee dark chocolate covered anything, Reese’s, and toffees. I don’t like caramel so snickers/milky ways/etc are safe in our house. Hush puppies are soo yummy! I’ve been having a noodle craze lately and recently tried sweet potato noodles from the Asian market. (used commonly in “jap chae” in Korea). Very chewy and yummy :) Happy Monday!

I’m allergic to cats so we won’t ever have one, but my gandma (I just noticed how much I talk about her..sorry lol) had one that I took care of for the two years they were on their mission. And she lived for 18 years. She died on my 19th birthday and my gandma waited to tell me until the day after so it would t ruin my day. She had other cats after that but Tibet was the best. I taught her how to jump through a hula hoop

Reply

I super love snickers, m&ms and O Henry…do you have oHenry in the states?
I would say I don’t love receiving raisins…I like raisins, but not for Halloween…just in my granola :)

I think your belly has really popped this week. Keep up the adorable. :)

Reply

Thanks Tiffany!! I sure feel it stretching this week! We do have O Henry here but I’ve never tried it… you are making me want to asap! I hope you are having a great day so far!

My adult version of trick-or-treating is going to the drugstore after Halloween and buying half-price candy. It’s not a good year if I can’t find Take 5 and PB Snickers. I love PB-flavored stuff, but am not a big fan of peanut stuff like Payday, Baby Ruth, etc.

The most recent thing I tried was BBQ oysters. I typically don’t eat oysters AT ALL so this was pretty adventurous for me. I liked them, so it wasn’t a disaster. =)

Reply

I LOVE your adult version of trick-or-treating… brilliant. BBQ oysters… that is quite adventurous and I’m glad you liked them! Thanks Emily and I hope your week is an awesome one!

Reply

Best candy: Reese’s and KitKats (Except our trick-or-treaters never get Reese’s from us because my husband and I always eat them all before Halloween. Whoops, sorry kids!)
Worst candy: Those candies in the black and orange paper. I have no idea what they actually are but they’re gross and shouldn’t be allowed on Halloween.

Reply

Really strange, but I just recently tried Beef and Broccoli from a Chinese restaurant right around the corner from where we live and now I’m ADDICTED! Seriously, hits the spot every single time. We may or may not have had it 3 times last week. Oops!

I did a 10 miler the other day and pushed myself really hard for most of it! It also was POURING down rain on me too which added a little bit more difficulty to it too!

I’m actually allergic to cats, but they sure are cute! Especially kittens!

I’d say the best candy is definitely Skittles! The worst has to be…milk duds…..Blah.

PS You’re the cutest pregnant person ever!! Your little beach ball is just too adorable! ;)

Reply

I am just like you… when I find something I love, I just can’t stop eating it. SO glad you found this meal… sounds delicious. WAY TO GO on your 10 miles in the crazy run, that is hardcore. Thank you Chelsea and I hope you are having a beautiful day!

Best: peanut m&ms
worst: twizzlers

This is a difficult question Janae! Reese’s probably trumps everything but there are sooooo many candies I’m just as happy with.

The worst? Sugar free candy. Got those a few times as kid. Bleh! What’s the point…just toss a toothbrush in there, already.

Reply

Sugar free candy… yeah that’s not my favorite! I hope you get a bunch of Reese’s this week Michelle! Have a great day!

Reply

Best: KitKat or any dark chocolate

Worst: twizzlers, hard candy, fruit candy (and many more – I don’t love candy)

Reply

I had Cafe Rio for the first time EVER this weekend (while camping and mtn biking in Vernal, UT). It was everything and I see why you are such a fan!

Reply

OH THIS MAKES ME SO SO HAPPY!!!!! PS my brother lives in Vernal, so cool that you were there! I hope you get a Cafe Rio where you live some day!

Reply

Vernal was great! Especially when your kid is obsessed with dinosaurs! Some fun mountain biking at McCoy Flats too :)

Reply

The pics of you and Jess posing from your race are still cracking me up.

Best candy: snickers. Worst: toothbrushes. My dad was a dentist, mom a hygienist. and unfortunately this is what we handed out at my house. I’ll let you guess how many times we got TP’d.

Reply

What was the last NEW to you (first time ever) food that you tried? Rootbeer kombucha. so bomb!

What was your latest REALLY HARD for you workout, run or race? Running 15 miles last Thursday. It was in the evening (my prime time is early) it was so windy, & all around uncomfortable.

Who has a cat? I despise cats & they terrify me.

#1 Best Candy: Reese Worst Candy: Solid tie between tootsie rolls & airheads.

Reply

Ha, my husband ducked out early for a run yesterday, so I finished the last 5 with our friend, who runs like a 3:10 marathon and he about kicked my booty with his “easy pace.”

We have a cat, Dory, We’ve had her since my youngest was 2 (he’s 10 now). He begged and begged and begged for her and after he had emergency brain surgery, my husband couldn’t say no. And of course now my husband is her favorite :) She’s a tuxedo kitty. Best decision :)

#1 best candy = Reece’s
Worst candy: Dots

Reply

Yesterday I did 10 x 1 min of hard, 1 easy. I’m just getting back into racing mode so this felt hard. I look forward to trying the same thing in two months to see where I am!

We have two cats, both grey tabbies, both shelter cats. They are the best with the baby and super fun and cuddly. Bonus- in winter no need for a blanket.

The best candy is clearly Reese’s.

Reply

Not sure that this qualifies as a new food, but we had sweet potato/maple cheesecake on Saturday night in Tybee Island that was incredible. Hush puppies rule in the South, you can get them pretty much anywhere.

I rented a coaster bike while we were on Tybee Island – that was hard! No gearing, no hand breaks. I had to think a lot to stop without falling over. But it was fun to ride with Les again now that he’s finished his cross country trip.

Anything chocolate works for Halloween! Actually, anything chocolate works all the time!!

Reply

Latest new food: yucca root. Tastes like potato.

Cats: 2. Orange tabby named Cheddar, black shorthair named Brie (they’re both around 9-10, they’re rescues I adopted as adults so hard to say for sure)

Best candy: Snickers (though I try not to buy non-fair trade chocolate any more, so I get Skittles and Starbursts for the trick-or-treaters…plus, less likely I will eat all the candy myself that way, haha). Worst: Good’n’Plenty (I HATE black licorice)

Recent running challenge: I am the unfortunate soul who tripped over a dog and twisted my knee two weeks out from the NY marathon. Your response was so sweet, just wanted to give you an update. It’s feeling much better, but still not perfect. I am cautiously optimistic at this point – I ran for 5 min on Saturday and plan on trying for 10 min today. If I can run 3-4 miles on Thursday then I will fly out as planned on Friday morning! Good news is all of my ligaments are fine, PT says it’s a bruised meniscus and as long as the pain is minimal I should be okay to run. So here’s hoping! Thanks so much for your prayers :)

Reply

Thank you Katie for letting me know how you are doing! I have been wondering. Oh I hope so badly that your run on Thursday feels great!! Please let me know, I am so hoping that you are running the NYC Marathon this weekend!

Reply

we bought a small bag of halloween candy yesterday. in years past we bought big bags and ended up with zero kids trick or treating, and then we end up eating way too much of it ourselves! haha! so this year we are going to try and be “smart” and get just a small bag. but now watch a bunch of kids show up and us run out of candy!… haha

Reply

Favorite: Twix
least favorite: Smarties (but they are my husbands favorite??)

Reply

York peppermint patties are the best and also I love Noodles and Company. Favorite candy is probably a peanut butter cup for me or M&Ms.

Reply

Last really hard race was last weekend where we were allowed to run with our dogs so I brought my pointer. She was so hyper and pumped to be running with all the people and dogs that I ran a PR!

We have a cat and he is black with tan stripes and a huge white mane around his neck. He laid down the law when the dog moved in that he was the boss and she knows it and totally respects him.

Best: Snickers
Worst: Whoppers

Reply

The last really hard workout I did was a “fearless” challenge at my gym. We had to 200 burpees at the end of the camp. Burpees are the devil! We have a serious love hate relationship!

I recently had Chick Fil A for the first time. I was not impressed. I don’t get what all the hype is about. I think I’m missing something. Ha.

Best: 100 Grand bars – Most underrated candy IMO, the kids only got ONE trick or treating this weekend!
Worst: Sugar Daddies and/or Sugar Babies…so gross!

Reply

OH I feel you on burpees… I would be happy to never do one again ha. Way to go on the FEARLESS challenge! That sounds intense. Bummer about Chick Fil A… did you try the Chick Fil A sauce?! That is my favorite sauce ever!

I hope you get a bag of 100 Grand Bars for yourself soon:) Thanks Krista!

Reply

I have a Ragdoll named Kiki who I’ve had for over a year, she’s perfect. We just got a German Shepard Puppy a couple months ago that we named Wally… he is not so perfect. He chases the cat all over the house and she is too sweet to put him in his place so I’m always breaking them up. I don’t recommend having a cat and a dog! Haha!

Best candy- Reece’s or Hershey’s w/ or w/out almond
Worst candy- Whoppers or Nestles Crunch

Reply

Best: Fast Break or Take 5
Worst: A single piece of Brachs

Reply

Best: snickers almonds
Worst: candy corn (I know, I’m sorry!)

My husband loves Twix, but he also weirdly loves almond joy…. I think he’s insane :P

Reply

Also, how on EARTH is Milky Way above Snickers!??!

Reply

Apple, onion, and cheddar grilled cheese on sourdough is where it’s at. Or Brie, pear, and sage on sourdough (this was a blue apron meal I got once and have recreated it MANY times). I agree that whoppers are terrible. Best candy really depends on my mood lately. Mmmmm candy, I have had a major sweet tooth lately. I have only been back running for a week and already my appetite is increasing. Those peppermint patties look good, and twix and snickers and almost anything with caramel.

Reply

I had an acai bowl for the 1st time today – OH MY YUMMY GOODNESS!!!
(I am home with a sick kiddo and my neighbor brought me 1 to cheer me up!!)

Reply

Best= Twix, which are always taxed out of my kids’ loot. Worst= war heads, blech!

Reply

Oh my goodness, I’m from the South, and I just wanted to say how glad I am that you finally experienced the delight that are hushpuppies!!! I grew up eating them! They’re like the fries at fast food joints; you just get them with everything, and they’re SO GOOD!! I haven’t seen them in YEARS.

Ah! So glad! Hope you enjoyed!!

Reply

p.s.

On the candy:
I almost agree on the best– gotta be Milky Way MIDNIGHT. Love dat dark chocolate!

Worst: uh, probably the Yorks (to make you feel better about taking them all :p), or just straight up Hershey’s bars. They’re boring, and they’re not even good quality chocolate, mostly sugar… if you’re giving out straight up chocolate, make it interesting/fun or good quality!

(And yes, in case you were wondering, I did interrupt my reading to comment with the above hush puppy comment. That’s how excited I was xD!)

We have three adopted/rescued cats.
Okie is a blonde, short-hair tabby. He was a feral barn kitten I rescued in Oklahoma on Thanksgiving weekend 10 years ago this month. He is my youngest daughter’s cat.
We also have a gray, short hair tabby we adopted as a kitten from the shelter. He turned 8 years old a few months ago. He belongs to my oldest daughter. She named him Jasper (Twilight reference!)
Our third cat is an all black long hair cat we adopted from a rescue group in Oregon as a kitten. He is part Maine-coon, very vocal, very smart and big! His name is Leo and he is mine! He turned 6 years old last month.

Best Candy to receive: Milky Way (or Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup or Almond Joy or…)
Worst candy to receive: Blow Pop. Yuck!

Reply

Oh my! I consider myself a bit of a hush puppy connoisseur. As a southern girl, they are one of my favorite foods! Hope you love them too :)

Reply

Hi Janae! This has nothing to do with this post, but I just got the new Smitten Kitchen cookbook and tried a recipe that made me think of you: Dry-Rub Sweet Potato Steaks with Green Bean Slaw. It was SOOO GOOD!!! Just wanted to let you know in case you saw the cookbook somewhere. :)

Reply

you look SO GORGEOUS for church! and i LOVE that gray sweatshirt/sweater you are wearing, too!
best: reese’s and milky ways…cant choose
worst: good & plenty/anything black licorice

Reply

Best: Take 5 or Snickers (tie)
Worst: Smarties

Reply

Worst: Red Vines. Best: Twix. The hard is good chick story is a good one for me. This weekend I run the Wine & Dine 10k and Half. I know because I am heavier it will be tough and mental mantras and positive attitude will need to get me through! Thanks for the story.

Reply

My latest really HARD run was the Kansas City Half. Yes.. it was over a week and a half ago, but it was a challenging race! Missed my PR by about 10 seconds, but I still give myself credit because there were really high winds and it is a generally pretty hilly course. HARD is GOOD!

Reply

What was the last NEW to you (first time ever) food that you tried?

-Hushpuppies.

What was your latest REALLY HARD for you workout, run or race?
the last really hard thing for me was the race. it was hard on my legs and hard mentally to keep at it.

Who has a cat? For how long? What color?!
no cat here – totally allergic to cat dander. my sister has a black and white cat (that looks like a milking cow).

I would like to take an official vote of my own…

WHAT DO YOU THINK is the #1 best candy to either give out or receive on Halloween? What do you think is the worst candy to receive on Halloween? Please participate so I can gather the results accurately.
