14 Pics from our BABYMOON!

Andrew was thrilled to start the day with a run;)  He wasn’t, but he tells me he is always happy that we do it so I just take that as he really does want to go.  4.5 miles and it is so nice to have a run where you don’t have to be back for anything (except for eating).  We took walking breaks, sitting breaks, hanging out breaks and finished when we wanted to finish.  It’s crazy how busy life gets with kiddos and life.  It has been so nice this weekend to just focus on each other and donuts.

PS why is it always that the one time sleeping in is possible, my body will not let me yet the days I need to get up early take all sorts of convincing?

One of my favorite parts about the San Jose area—>  You can find running trails EVERYWHERE.  When I lived out here there was one within .4 miles of where I lived and every hotel I have stayed in since then (which is A LOT) has one within a few minutes too.  It’s so nice to just be able jump on a trail anywhere and not see a car for a while.

From our run we went straight to Stan’s in Santa Clara for their donuts (THANK YOU for your recommendations… you guys are ALWAYS right).   There was a little bit of a line but so worth the wait.

IMG 7281

Pure heaven.  They didn’t have any of the glazed but I think we will stop by again today for some of those:)  The chocolate bar and old fashioned were my favorites.  We are in this area often so I’m just really thankful to you guys for this new thing to look forward to each time we come… oh and their sprinkle donuts look amazing so I’m going to have to bring Brooke!

IMG 7286

We counted donuts as our breakfast and then this for our lunch:)  Bill’s Cafe is somewhere we love to go to eat (Andrew and I went twice last time we were here together).

IMG 7289

I had the veggie scramble with hash browns as the base.  They have the most friendly servers at this place… we are always happy when we leave.

IMG 7292

After we ate we went back to the hotel to watch General Conference—>  this is on today too!  We have missed some of it but we will rewatch it online.  Two times a year our church does this on a Saturday and Sunday (instead of church).  They have amazing talks and I’m always so inspired/comforted by them.

Our next stop—> Giants game!

IMG 7296

Andrew has a goal to visit every Major League Baseball stadium (and get a hat at each one).  We checked off another one yesterday!

IMG 7299

The Giants lost but it was a fun game and eventually we found our car again after the game;)

IMG 7308

We were ready for dinner by 5 (my favorite time to eat dinner)… I wanted pasta and Andrew wanted anything other than pasta so we found a restaurant that had both.

IMG 7314

We went to a place called Jack’s and my rigatoni pasta was SO good.  It was even better than my current love of Noodles & Co;)

IMG 7318

After dinner we walked around a mall for a little while and then went back to the hotel because I was exhausted.  We had a New Girl marathon (I am hooked on that show right now) which was exciting!

IMG 7320

And this picture made me so happy—>  My brother sent it to me last night!  He met Jessica on his flight (she recognized him from the blog) and she has the Columbus half marathon coming up!  GOOD LUCK JESSICA and I better hear about how it goes!

We pick up Brooke later today and then we head back home!

Such nice pics!! I would love to do a babymoon too. I hope we manage to sweeze one in in the next month or so.
Btw I’ve only ever been to the yankees stadium. Never seen a game though.

Nina, you have to do it:) Let me know if you do!

Pasta with a white shirt on?! You are a brave woman ;-) Doing a tempo run this morning… I have to decide today if I register for a 10km next weekend. Scary ha but it’s a beautiful beautiful fall course. We went to a Blue Jays game in Toronto last month and it was lots of fun!

I think you should come to Utica, NY to run the Boilermaker (the nations largest and best 15K) and then take Andrew to Cooperstown to visit Doubleday Field and the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The race is always the second Sunday in July!

Reply

Well, that sounds absolutely perfect! See you there next July!?!

Hi Janae!
I wondered how that picture turned out- I had been traveling for almost 24 hours (my husband and I were returning from our honeymoon). The flight attendants kept giving the pilot a “hard” time because they said it was his last flight with the airline- you can imagine my surprise when your brother emerged from the cockpit! It was so weird to actually be on his flight after reading about him from your blog but he was as nice as I would have expected! (I wonder if he finds it odd when random people say, “aren’t you Janae’s brother?”) Congrats to him on his new job!!

JESSICA!!! I didn’t know that you just got married too… CONGRATS!!! Oh haha I bet they were all giving him a hard time! They are going to miss him so much… he is such a bright spot in a lot of people’s lives. I am SO happy that you were able to meet each other. Congrats on getting married and I hope your honeymoon was perfect! Keep in touch!

Bring Andrew to NYC, and you guys can check off Yankee stadium and citi field (if he hasn’t already). And you could do some serious work on your pasta craving in Little Italy!

Reply

YES YES YES… I actually think that is our next trip that we want to do together and now I will dream of that pasta until I get there;) I hope you have a beautiful day Jessica!

I love Stan’s! I work at a summer program in Santa Clara in the summertime, and we sometimes get Stan’s for our staff as a treat:)
I’m doing some hiking and apple picking today:) I’m loving Saturday runs right now!
I’ve only ever been to Fenway, and sadly I haven’t made it to a Red Sox game since I was a kid. But I love my home team and I love my Red Sox cap.

Those donuts look amazing! Our Sunday plans are not very exciting…church in the morning then grocery shopping, then lunch and relaxation at home! ?

Wow, that’s so crazy and amazing that a blog reader met your brother! That’s awesome he allowed her back there for a pic! How awesome it must be to be a pilot! I’ve only been to Minute Maid Park. You guys definitely need to make your way down to Houston some time. Great, diverse restaurants down here. We don’t make the fattest city list each year for nothing! :) You guys have a wonderful Sunday, Janae!

Happy October 1st! I have a busy day, taking a friend for surf lessons and then picking up others coming into town today. Lots of running around! Getting motivated to go run right now by reading your blog.
Favorite run day is Monday so I can set the tone of the week!
I have been to Seattle, New York, Chicago and Boston ballparks and used to live 3 blocks from and frequent Denver! No MLB parks on Oahu though, such a bummer!
Enjoy the last of your babymoon!

Reply

Sounds like a perfect day Amanda! I want surf lessons in Oahu right now:) Enjoy having your friends in town and I hope your run was a great one! I agree with you about Monday being the best day to run:) Have an awesome week!

My uncle had a goal of singing the national anthem at every Major League Baseball park before he passed away. He was able to do that at all but two! He passed away a few years ago, but what an accomplishment!

Reply

Oh Mandy, thank you so much for sharing that with me… I just read your comment to Andrew. That is so cool that your uncle did that! I hope you have had a wonderful weekend so far!

Those donuts look so good!
We have a goal to take our two sons (ages 6 & 8) to every MLB ballpark. We collect a pin at each one and put it on a US map in their playroom. We’ve been to 4 so we’ve got 26 to go! We are planning a trip next summer to see 4-5.

Reply

Oh I LOVE the goal that you have with your boys! I want more details about your trip next summer as it gets closer. We might have to join you for a game! Have a great Sunday Lesley!

Reply

Sounds like such a nice break! Conference yesterday was good and I’m hoping today is the same or better!! I’m thinking I’ll make cake for dessert today during the sessions

I love my Wednesday runs….I am off on Wednesdays so i can take my time!
I went to Turner Field in middle school (Atlanta Braves) but we just saw it from outside……no game. And we took pictures outside Wrigley Field in Chicago a few years back!

Reply

those donuts look aaaaamazing! yes Nationals park in DC is great, right on the water and great views of the Capital building :)

Reply

I can’t wait to come to Nationals park:) I hope you are having an awesome day Bailey and that you get some good donuts asap!

Reply

The only plan I had for today was my very first Body Pump class at my gym. I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to try it. I LOVED it, and can’t wait to go to another one.

Reply

I’ve been to Busch Stadium (the original, not the new), where the Royals play, and where the Padres play. You can see how much I know about baseball by the fact I don’t know the stadium name. Busch was the best of those.
Those donuts look amazing!

Reply

And Angels stadium in Anaheim but it was for a concert, not a game.

FUN STUFF! Has Andrew been to Wrigley Field or Guaranteed Rate Field (where the White Sox play — formerly known as “The Cell” [U.S. Cellular Field], formerly known as Comiskey Park)? Let me known when y’all can come to the Chi. I’ll take you to all of the donut shops, and my husband can take Andrew to all of the parks.<3

Reply

Tiffany!! He hasn’t yet so we are DEFINITELY going to be coming to visit you soon and I’m taking you up on the donut shops promise. Thanks girl and I hope you are having a beautiful day!

The glazed are by far the best at Stan’s – if they tell you they will have some in 10 minutes, just wait (even though you have probably already waited at least 10 minutes to get to that point – still faster than coming back).
My day today: walk, make scones, conference, cottage cheese with grapes for lunch, conference, chorizo sweet potato chili for dinner, walk, flyers and emails for school, sleep (hopefully by 9pm).

Reply

We went back today and got one… HOLY COW. The glazed are beyond amazing, I can’t eat a normal glazed donut after that ha. Sounds like a perfect day (especially the cc and grapes)! I hope it is perfect for you and that you get plenty of sleep!

Reply

Went to cheer on a dear friend doing the lakefront marathon.

Reply

My husband has been to all the MLB stadiums. He finished it up a few years back and is now just in “maintenance mode” which means he needs to see new stadiums the year that they open LOL

Reply

NOOOO WAY!!! Oh Andrew is so jealous… I’m sure he will go into maintenance mode too once he visits them all. I hope you have had an amazing weekend Laura!

Reply

St. Louis cardinals stadium. My grandma lives there and grew up visiting there. It’s beautiful with a view of the arch from the stadium. And we’ve been to Fenway in Boston and Yankee stadium.

Reply

Wow, you guys have packed in a lot of amazingness this weekend! And Yay for the Giants game. It’s sortof appropriate that they lost given their season ;) and cool to see Cain’s final game! I may be biased but i think AT&T is one of the great stadiums (especially after Candlestick).

Reply

Safeco Field in Seattle is pretty sweet!! Yet best of the best is Fenway. No baseball game/stadium will ever beat Fenway in my opinion!
What airline does your brother flight for???????

Reply

Baseball games are fun in person! We love to go to pro games here in Japan as well! So different but so much fun!

Reply

I love travelling to different baseball stadiums!

I have been to Rogers Centre (Skydome) in Toronto, as it’s where we live! I have also been to Fenway Park, Comerica Park, and whatever the stadium is called in Cleveland (haha). I want to go to Chicago next and see both stadiums there, especially Wrigley Field!!

Reply

The only ones I have been to are the Ballpark in Arlington(Texas Rangers), NRG Stadium (Houston Texans) and Kauffman Stadium (Kansas City Royals).

Reply

Camden Yards in Baltimore is fun & the food is fabulous! They just revamped and added so many restaurants and such inside the stadium. Let me know if you’re in the area for a game :)

Reply

I have the same goal to see all of the MLB Stadiums with my Dad!! So far we’ve been to: Rogers Centre (Toronto), Fenway Park (Boston), Shea Stadium (New York), Yankee Stadium (New York), Target Field (Minneapolis), Safeco Field (Seattle), Chase Field (Phoenix), Minute Maid Park (Houston), and Olympic Stadium in Montreal back when the Expos were still a team.

Your food always looks so amazing. My favorite day to run is a day off from work so I can enjoy it and don’t feel rushed to get it done and get to work on time. My goal is to do a podcast from a race in every state, so I totally get the visit and get a hat at all the stadiums! Glad you had fun on your baby moon!!

Reply

I’m from Santa Clara!! I grew up literally ONE BLOCK away from Stan’s Donuts. I always thought they were the best when I was a kid but it feels good to have that fact confirmed by a donut connoisseur!
Vasona park at sunset was always my favorite running spot too :) Glad you had a great babymoon!
