I’ll never look back, losing my brain and 40!!!!

FORTY MILES for the week.  I haven’t hit that number in a little while so I was pretty excited when I finished my run (well, I planned it to be the 4.4 miles I needed to get 40:)!  Hoping big time for another 13 weeks of happy running with a lower mileage.  PS I don’t know how I lived without these wireless headphones (I stole them from Andrew)… I am hooked on wireless again and don’t think I’ll ever look back.

It’s that time of year again and I couldn’t be happier about it—> Long sleeve running weather.  It was about 43 degrees when I left for my run yesterday and it felt SO good.  I don’t love it when it is cold enough for gloves but long sleeve weather… Y.E.S.

Right after my run we hurried and got ready to go to a birthday party.  We took a picture out front and then walked in and realized we were definitely not at the right place.  I’m telling ya… I’m losing my brain more and more with each week.  I’m having a really hard time remembering things… It could have also been because I was tired from staying up past midnight watching Stepmom and BAWLING (my crying was out of control).

IMG 5922

We finally made it to the correct location and the kids had a blast.

IMG 5954

From there we went to the Farmer’s Market and I’m warning ya—> if you are there with a dog, our kids will ask you if they can pet your pup. This one they gave a hug to when they were saying goodbye to her.

IMG 5970

FINALLY.  I got my hands on a churro.  It was everything I had been craving.

IMG 5975

Knox had them fill his with Nutella and he finished it off in about 35 seconds.

IMG 5974

We attempted a jumping picture… 4 out of 6 feet were off the ground.

IMG 5989

From there Brooke fell asleep in the car.  I was craving another sandwich from Ernie’s (they cook my turkey meat before putting it in the sandwich)  so we ate them in the parking lot and they were delicious.

IMG 6007

Kindergarten has been a big change for Brooke.  We put her to bed earlier than normal now but I think she focuses on everything so hard during those hours of school that it has wiped her out.  My mom said two of her kids were like this too (I was one of the others that was there more for the social reasons than the learning part in Kindergarten, ha) and it took them a few weeks to get used to it.

IMG 6008

Pretty soon I joined the crew for a nap.

IMG 6009

Knox showed us exactly what he wants for his birthday (in TEN DAYS)!!

IMG 6013

And eventually Brooke woke up!  She took a 3 hour nap!

IMG 6016

We ended our night by going on a really long walk that lasted about an hour and a half… soaking up the fall temperatures.

IMG 6019

And finished up with some hide and go seek.  I’m trying to get most of my calories in during the morning and afternoon because once again… at night I am just not loving food.  I had some oatmeal though!

My twins started kindergarten this week and they are just like Brooke! One of them fell asleep on the ride home and stayed asleep for 2 hours on Friday. The struggle is very real apparently

Reply

YES YES YES!! Thank you for telling me about your twins… I can’t believe how tired Brooke is! It must be a lot on their little minds and bodies:) Keep me updated with how you and your twins are doing! Thanks Monica and have a great Sunday!

you are reminding me that I had delicious churros with chocolate sauce for dipping the other day! when I don’t take a picture of my food, I forget that I had it lol. My son usually takes time to adjust to camp/school by taking naps in the first few weeks (even now, as a 9th grader!)

Reply

HAHA that is exactly how I am… if I don’t take a picture, I don’t remember it happened. Good to know that it takes all kids time to adjust back to school! I hope you and your son are having a wonderful day Meredith!

Long sleeve running weather is seriously the best! I agree with you whole heartedly on your stance. My Sunday morning started with pancakes and taking dogs on a walk to the park to burn off some of their energy and the pancakes. I really need to try out wireless headphones, I think they are going on my Christmas list for this year.
Glad you got your churro finally girl!

Reply

I hope it is long sleeve running weather soon for you Maureen! YES add wireless headphones to your list this year and I hope your pancakes were awesome!

Oh man, I can’t watch Stepmom. It’s too much. But my go to crying movies is probably PS I Love You.

Love my wireless headphones!! Drives me nuts when I forget to charge them and I have to use regular ones.

I’m off to a baby blessing for one of my best friend’s new little boy. ??

I can’t even make it 10 minutes into PS I Love You right now! Enjoy the baby blessing Alyssa and have a wonderful Sunday!

I can’t believe you watched Stepmom while pregnant! That movie always makes me cry, along with Beaches and Steel Magnolias.
My best run was on Monday, when I ran 10.5 miles at a 7:36pace. I’m working hard to get my speed back after fracturing two bones in the bottom of my left foot in February and wearing a boot for two months. It wasn’t even a running injury- I’m so clumsy!
Today is my rest day and I plan on baking banana chocolate chip muffins with my daughter, watching football and the Emmys and staying off my feet (and slightly achy knee) as much as possible!
Enjoy your day!

Reply

Hahaha yes, I don’t know what I was thinking! I need to watch Steel Magnolias! WAY TO GO ON YOUR 10.5 miles Leanne… you rocked it and you have come so far since your injury! I am clumsy too.. you are not alone. Enjoy every second of today and I hope your knee doesn’t stay achy!

Love Actually and Hope Floats. No matter how many times I watch, they always make me cry.

Reply

YES AND YES. Both of those do the same thing to me! I hope you are having a great day!

Reply

Stepmom makes me cry everytime, so does Marley and Me. I’m off for a run and Church after that.

Reply

Oh goodness… Marley and Me always gets me too! I hope your run and morning at church has been great Lew!

Reply

The Notebook!!!! Cry like a baby!!!! It is so good!

Reply

YES YES YES… me too! My roommate and I used to watch that movie every night when we were falling asleep ha and it still gets me! I hope you have a wonderful Sunday Lindsey!

Reply

Marley and me makes me cry every time! My kids asked to watch it recently and now they think of it at “the funny movie where the dog dies” like they say on inside out. One of my daughters is a sympathetic cryer and she saw me crying at the end and lost it. She cried for about 45 minutes after that. The other one just looked around trying to figure out why we were crying.

Reply

YES YES YES to Marley and Me… every single times. Okay, your story about your daughter crying because of you crying… that is so sweet!!!

Reply

My son started sleeping awesome once he got to K – in daycare they’d force him to nap (rub his back) and he’d be up to 10:00 pm. It was a life changer.

I am waiting for fall here in New England. We ran a race today in 100% humidity. Ugh!

(I never got to write you and thank you for suggesting Provo Bakery for our trip this summer – after driving 3.5 hours from Moab it was a great stop to make before continuing on to Jackson)

Reply

100% humidity… Jessey, you are my hero! That is TOUGH! AHHHH I am so so happy that you made it to the Provo Bakery! It is our favorite:) Hope that you loved Utah!

Reply

Omg Steel Magnolias kills me :(

Reply

I haven’t seen that Cheryl… looks like I need to get that asap (sometimes I crave a movie that makes me cry?!? it’s weird)! Hope you are having a great day!

Reply

The Little Women movie from the 90’s always makes me cry when Beth dies. It’s so sad!

Reply

That is where I sob in the book too!!!

I LOVE wireless headphones, and I can’t imagine not having htme anymore! I have the Jaybird X3 Sport Bluetooth set. It’s so nice not worrying about the wires getting all caught in my neck and pulling out like they used to on windy days haha.

My best run this past week was probably Monday’s race pace run. I had 6 miles at my goal pace, and I did that (even managing to run slightly faster the last mile!). Hoping that means good things for my half in a few weeks!

Also, I really LOVE your purple long sleeve shirt in those first couple of pics – what brand is it? It looks like Lulu but I couldn’t tell for sure :) I’ve been in dire need of some new ones for this fall running season!

Happy Sunday!! Pancakes and spending time with my hubby and 6 month old son this morning here!

Reply

WAY TO GO ELIZABETH on your race pace run… you rocked it and that definitely means great things for your upcoming half! Thank you, it is a moving comfort top! It is the Moving Comfort Fusion Hoodie Women’s Sweatshirt… I can’t find it anywhere where it isn’t sold out but good luck. It is my favorite! Have a beautiful day!

I am a ridiculous crier when it comes to movies! I was in college when Titanic came out and cried so hard that one of my contacts came out. I’d have to say We Bought a Zoo gets me sobbing like none other, though!

Congrats on 40 miles – that’s amazing! I had such bad ligament pain during my pregnancies that I couldn’t do much in the way of exercise, so that kind of mileage while pregnancy seems incredible to me :)

Reply

YES YES YES to Titanic… you are not alone! Also, We bought a Zoo is one of Andrew’s favorite movies… so good! Bummer about your ligament pain. I don’t know how I lucked out so far! I hope you are having a wonderful Sunday Steph!

I love long sleeve running weather! Although today I went for a run in a t-shirt rather than vest/tank and I was way too hot! This was near London.

Did my last long run before my first marathon in Berlin next week and then have spent much of the day planning where we’ll eat pasta the night before/how we will get to the expo/how we will get to the start line. The more preparation now, the less stress then….right? Thanks for the headphone recommendation, I keep thinking I must try some as mine are always getting caught.

My Sister’s Keeper always makes me cry. So humbling. Also Marley and Me like others have said.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday ?

I LOVE my Apple AirPods! I used to have some Bluetooth ones that look like yours/Andrews, but the cord connecting the two drove me nuts getting tangled in my ponytail/braid.

Reply

Love my wireless headphones, never going back! I have a pair of plantronics backbeat I think they are called. Got them at Costco!

Omg so many movies make me cry….all the ones listed here, plus The Family Stone, One True Thing, The Family Man, even Christmas with the Kranks at the end! So many Christmas movies make me sappy! Lol

Reply

I have these headphones https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IEO1KWK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and no complaints! They get the job done.

Reply

I guess I need to watch Stepmom again. I love a good cry! I always cry when I see On Golden Pond. It means different things to me at different ages. I am with you on the wireless earphones. Every time I see someone with the wired ones, I want to stop them and say “have you ever tried wireless? They are the bomb” :)

Reply

Hope Floats, when Birdie is trying to go with her dad absolutely kills me. And I second Steel Magnolias, you definitely need to watch it. That stuff never used to make me cry but now even a commercial can.

I’ve been trying to find a new pair of headphones, those ones look interesting but the women’s ones are not well reviewed on Amazon :( I never have luck with earbuds staying in, no matter what they’re designed to do, so I usually prefer something that goes over my ear because I know it’s never going to fall out, even when I’m super sweaty. It’s so hard trying to find something with all the right features. Not to mention, I don’t want to drop $100 on something and hate it.

Super envious of cooler running weather. We did our coolest run since May the other day – only 87!

Reply

I ran 16 miles yesterday, my furthest run to date! It was a struggle and I was just glad it was done. I was thankful that it was a cool day yesterday so ran in a long sleeve, which makes me excited for cooler weather!
I love my jaybird freedoms! It’s just so nice if I run with my phone in a pocket I don’t have to worry about cords!
Like others, Marley and Me, Titanic, Armageddon, and My Girl always makes me cry!
Also I remember in college, I would always need naps the first week of classes! Haha all those early classes and hard learning!

Reply

Oh.my.goodness – the past two Christmases, Stepmom has been on TV at night and I just couldn’t help but watch….and then spend the last hour of the movie full on sobbing. On Christmas! Ha! My dad even joined me one year and it was quite the sight!
Have a great week!

Reply

Oh they can’t play it on CHRISTMAS!! Yep, that last hour I am ugly crying the entire time. I love that your dad joined you one year too! Julissa, I love your name!

Thank you!:)

Not movies, but I BAWL through every episode of this is us.

Reply

I’m kind of the opposite, last Saturday it was 37° at my mom’s house and I ran in shorts, a tank, and gloves. My hands are always the first thing to get cold.

Reply

PS I Love You is always a tearjerker for me! I am so jealous of your temperatures right now. When I go out in the morning at 3am to walk the dogs, it is 90% humidity and 80 degrees in the dark right now. It was such an accomplishment to run/walk 9.5 miles on Sunday after the sun came up and the humidity had dropped 10%. We are recovering from Hurricane Irma right now, so everyone in the household is taking naps whenever possible to de stress. It looked like a fun Sunday for you all!

Reply

Girl — We’re right there with you! Hurricane Irma was super stressful — the naps are a great idea!

Reply

Selena….I cry every time!

Reply

I wish it was that cool here! It’s still in the low 90s high 80’s with high humidity and crazy afternoon heat!

Reply

Titanic makes me cry every. single. time. When it was in theaters, I SOBBED and it was so embarrassing hahaha. Also, recently saw “The Zookeeper’s Wife” and I bawled my eyes out. Amazing movie if you’re looking for recs! Hope you had a nice weekend!

Reply

I do not think I have ever cried harder in my life than when I watched Marley and Me. I refuse to ever watch it again, because I cried so hard it made my head hurt for like a whole day.

Reply

OMG….Stepmom….I BAWLED watching that even before being a mom. I don’t think I could take it watching it after becoming a mom myself! Steal Magnolia’s and Return to Me are the other movies I am a cry baby for.

Brooke’s headband!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOVE!!!!!

My son was just like Brooke and the first month or two was rough, but then he adjusted and it was all good.

Your baby belly is adorbs!

Reply

I always cry at P.S. I love you. I haven’t tried wireless head phones yet. Best part of Sunday – coming home after an amazing 17 day road trip of the BC – Alberta Rockies. I got to run my first 100km trail race a week ago and it was quite the adventure so that was also a good part of the week

Reply

PS I love you – I bawl every time.
My best run was Saturday – 15 miles in Two Harbors, MN (up north) It was a really hilly route but I felt strong the whole time!
