Early morning on the treadmill!  Andrew was at the hospital so I hit the treadmill while the kids were snoozing for my classic 7 miles…

And then we were off to school and I experienced major mom guilt when I walked them inside and realized I had forgotten the theme day… pregnancy brain is real and mom guilt is even more real.

IMG 5670

We were out and about getting things done during the afternoon!

IMG 5686

I think I wore Knox out when he almost fell asleep on a bench… he loves trying to feel his new little sis and puts his hand on my stomach a lot.

IMG 5692

We made it to swimming lessons too.

IMG 5730

And then it was time for cleaning rooms, pajamas and a picnic while watching a movie.

IMG 5735

Clearly I was really in a cooking mood… sandwiches for all.

IMG 5739

And then I did an amazing job sitting on the couch for a long time.  My energy level is 2% in the evenings.

IMG 5736

Ended the day of eating with some popcorn and tried my hardest to stay awake until Andrew got home (he’s got a commute in addition to the 12 hour shifts)!

*My sister has been tinting her own eyebrows so I ordered the stuff she uses and she is going to teach me how to do it myself now (or maybe I’ll just go to her house once a month and have her do it;)

IMG 5741

*I bought two dresses while we were in Vegas and I’m in love with them!  My goal is to have a few dresses that work for pregnancy but also for non-pregnancy times!  I got this one (they have a lot of fun colors) and this one and I am obsessed.

*Kodiak Cakes has a PUMPKIN FLAX pancake mix now!!!

*11 days until THIS IS US starts up again.  I cannot wait.

*My current favorite app is called MARCO POLO and it is so fun.  Basically it is just video messages back and forth with people.  Monica and I have quite the deep discussions over Marco Polo now.

IMG 5681

*I was tagged in this post for the most amazing running shorts EVER.  I really need these.  I have a Halloween 5k I am wanting to do and these would be perfect!

IMG 5635

*My mom sent this video to me and this is definitely a Friday Favorite!  I want to watch it 10 times in a row.

*My current favorite food philosophy:)

IMG 5715

*Brooke’s hair gets quite tangled and this stuff SAVES us.  With swim lessons again this is amazing… plus it smells so good.

IMG 5416

*Have you tried these?  The perfect mint.

IMG 5254

*A few weeks ago I asked you guys for recommendations of tanks with high necks!  A few of you recommended THIS ONE (in picture with my treadmill at the top of this post) and I am in love with it.  It is so soft, I want to wear it daily and only $20!

*I saw this book on barleshambone IG and ordered it.  Yep, definitely made me cry!

Gabi!!! “The “Karwendel” (in Austria) is a massive mountain range of limestone, beautiful, wild and rugged, with 125 summits over 200 meters of height.  Fortunately the Karwendel has been placed under protection since 1928, so there are almost no cars, only a couple of skiing lifts and just a few accesses where you can reach this nature park by car.  The crossing from west to east (in one day!) took place the first time in 1969 as a sports competition.  Until 1990 it attracted enthusiastic (aka ‘crazy’) hikers and trail runners who wanted to have a real tough challenge.  Up to 4000 participants enrolled, that was too much for this sensitive nature reserve.  After that it took 19 years until the event has been permitted again-with a limit of 2500 participants.  This year the Karwendelmarsch was sold out 4 months before the start!  Hikers can either choose 35k or 52k, the trail runner course has 52k, a lot of elevation gain comes along, 2300 meters in ascent!  I chose the 35km and I’m very happy about my accomplishment!  This year there was a new record.  Johannes Klein finished in 4:07:20!  This is absolutely amazing!  I love this event very much and definitely will come back next year. I’ve already participated three times in the Karwendelmarsch and I must say that I’m addicted.”

Kelly!!!  “I ran my first ever half marathon at the Rock ’n’ Roll Virginia Beach last weekend- Sep 3rd.  Amazing course, fantastic support, and so much fun that I’ve registered for another half marathon in 6 months (and even convinced my best friend to dress up and run with me)!  As a Navy veteran, I love new challenges and this is exactly what I needed to push myself out of my comfort zone!  Your blog is a source of motivation and comfort… overcoming an injury so close to race day had me worried I wouldn’t be able to compete but I took time off (I feel your pain in not being able to train like I had hoped) and emerged a much calmer, healthier me. Finish time: 2:43.  I started in the last corral and finished filing like #1!  A number is just a number, but that was MY time, every minute of it, and I’m amazed at my own accomplishment.”

When was your last treadmill run?  What is the longest distance you’ve ever done on a treadmill?

Last treadmill run was yesterday and my longest on a treadmill was 10 miles (or maybe 10.2?). Apparently my treadmill keeps running but stops tracking distance at 10! Maybe that’s normal and everyone’s treadmill does that?
Favorite children’s books: Jan Thomas’ Dust Bunny books are hilarious and the kids can work on reading small words and rhyming. Max Lucado’s “You Are Special,” “You Are Mine,” basically all of his children’s books (I’m pretty sure I cry every time I read these to my kids). Exclamation Mark, The Dot Book, The Day the Crayons Quit, The Books with No Pictures, Blizzard, Fox in Socks (not the shortened version), I could go on and on…

Reply

Oh that is lame that your treadmill does that… definitely not normal! Which treadmill do you have! Way to go on the 10.2!!! THANK YOU FOR THE RECOMMENDATIONS. We love the book, ‘You Are Special,’ but I didn’t think of checking out any of his other books! Thank you for telling me that and all of the others sound great too! THANK YOU and I hope you have a beautiful weekend Ali!

I have a Smooth Fitness treadmill. They actually don’t make them anymore. I think they went out of business.

Love love love that video! Brought me to tears, thanks for sharing! You and your sister should make a video about how to tint your own eyebrows! I would love to try it!

Hope you have a great weekend!

I NEED those shorts!!!!!!

I don’t do too many runs on my treadmill, maybe 4 miles tops, but I would much rather be outside! I have a trail right downtown outside my door, so it’s hard to be on the treadmill knowing that is there.

Books: My favorite kids book is Alexander and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day…….and I think there are a few sequels to it, too. Also, all of the books like “If you give a mouse a cookie” are great…….there are tons of them including “IF you give a dog a donut” which I bet Brooke would LOVE! And when they get a bit older to read on there own, the Bailey School Kids series is great….with titles like “Aliens don’t wear braces” “Santa Claus doesn’t mop floors” “Pirates don’t wear pink sunglasses” and “Leprechauns don’t play basketball”………………there’s like 100 of them, I am trying to collect them all-ha!

Reply

That is SO nice to have a trail right next to you! I would have a hard time missing out on that trail too! THANK YOU for the recommendations. I’m ordering the dog a donut one today… Brooke will LOVE that book (her two favorite things ha)! Thank you Loribeth, I really appreciate all of these and we will have to get them all!

Oh my goodness, I need those little pearls. Chocolate and mint is my favorite combo!

Reply

Try them ASAP.. they are so good! I hope you have an awesome Friday Laura!

I never comment, but I have to say to Kelly….. I LOVED your statement “..that was MY time, every minute of it….” Too often we compare ourselves to others and this was such a great reminder for me that it’s about what I can do! I’m getting ready to train for a half marathon after a long break up with running, and this was perfect to help get me in the right mindset to start training!
Congrats on an awesome half marathon!

HRG – you have become a new favorite blog to read. I love your motivation and your dedication to running. It’s inspiring! And your family is super cute!!! :)

Reply

ALI, thank you so much for your sweet comment and please keep me updated with how you are doing. I love what Kelly said too, she is amazing! I hope you have an amazing weekend and I’m so excited for you to start training for your half!

I loved “Big Red Barn” when I was younger but I think that’s for little kids so probably not for Brooke. But it could be a good one for baby :) Amelia Bedelia are probably more appropriate for Brooke and I loved them! My Friday night is going to involve waiting for my new washer and dryer to get delivered since we got the 4-8pm time frame. Wild I know ;) Aside from that, we’re grilling burgers and having a bonfire as long as it’s not too warm out.

Reply

I will have to get that one for the baby! Thanks Maureen! YAY for a new washer and dryer… that is the best! Enjoy your night grilling:)

I was supposed to get up and do a treadmill run today but I didn’t sleep well. So maybe tonight? Or maybe an extra rest day for me. I have a 5k next week and I’m never shore at this point what to do. I’ve been doing this long enough you’d think I’d have a good routine haha.

Reply

I am so sorry you didn’t sleep well last night, that is the worst. Which 5k are you doing!? I hope you get a nap today Jenny!

Reply

It’s the Now I Can race in Provo. Thanks!

I think Brooke’s little sweatshirt might break the internet…is it gray or is it purple?? :-D

Pretty much all my runs are treadmill runs because I’m a full time working mom with a husband who travels for work. My running happens at night when my little one is in bed.

My Friday night plans are popcorn and a movie! I hope you have a really good weekend, Janae :-)

Reply

Isn’t it cute haha! it is purple! Torrie, you are beyond amazing for fitting in everything that you do with your schedule. You inspire me, thank you! Enjoy your Friday night… I think we are going to do the same thing:)

4 months in, and I still cannot finish “I’ll love you Forever” without straight up ugly face crying. Such a sweet book.

Look @ PinkBlush maternity. Super cute and I have worn the two dresses I bought while pregnant post partum! They usually always have sales on dresses.

Reply

YES YES YES YES. That book makes me cry every single time too. Okay, I need to get one of their dresses asap… I’ve seen them but never really knew if they were great or not. Thank you SO much and I hope you have a great weekend!

Last treadmill run=last night! Longest distance on a treadmill was 6.3 miles!(I’m a newbie). Tonight’s plans… go to bed early! I have my very first half in 5 weeks *insert scared face* and tomorrow at 6am we run our first 10 mile training run. Ahhhhhhh!

Reply

That is AWESOME Alyssa!! I am so excited for your first half! You are going to rock your 10 miler tomorrow and please let me know how it goes!!!

Reply

Janae! I almost forgot to tell you about my first 10 mile run! It was AWESOME! It was super humid(even at 6am, what?!?!) and I wanted to quit by mile 3….but at that point I decided to take a GU and it help sooooo much! I finished a little slower than I had hoped, but I FINISHED and am ready to tackle 11 this saturday! :)

AHHHHH WAY TO GO!!! You rocked it and in crazy humidity! So happy for you and let me know how the 11 go on Saturday!

I need those candy corn shorts…I’ve been holding off on buying a bag because I know it will be gone in 2 days! I have zero self control when it comes to sugar.
I can’t wait for This is Us! Every episode I always end up crying – sometimes they’re happy tears but other times I’m heartbroken. Such an emotional rollercoaster!
My longest treadmill run is 10 miles. I couldn’t take anymore – I was so bored! I don’t know how you trained for a marathon on a treadmill! ;)
Enjoy your weekend!

Reply

GET A BAG SOON… candy corn is the best:) I wish we could all watch This is Us together! 10 miles on the treadmill is AWESOME Erinn! I hope your weekend is an amazing one!

Reply

Those shorts are amazing haha!
The longest I have run on a treadmill is 8 miles. Now that my miles have been increasing, this winter I will probably run more on the treadmill which is going to be a struggle probably lol.
Not really in touch with kids books but my favorite book as a kid was brown bear brown bear what do you see!
Tonight we are going to make some dinner and have a relaxing night in :)

Reply

OH WE HAVE THAT BOOK… the kids love that one! Enjoy the night in… the best and hopefully you can get those shorts! I’ll write a post soon on how to enjoy the treadmill more and hopefully that can help you a bit this winter!

Reply

I loved going to swimming lessons as a kid – I had so much fun in the water.

I don’t have any plans for tonight, and I kind of love it. This week has been go, go, go, so I’m looking forward to a quiet night at home on the couch.

Reply

I LOVE the nights where we don’t have any plans too! It is the best especially after a busy week! ENJOY FIONA!

Currently my Friday Favorites are red nails,

My last treadmill run was in a hotel in July when traveling home for vacay. It was really nice!

Friday night means burgers on the grill, gym time, and a movie marathon with popcorn and snuggles!

Reply

Sounds like the perfect Friday night Susie! I need to pain my nails soon… maybe I’ll do red:) Enjoy your weekend!

Pumpkin Kodiak cake?!?!?! Where?? I need!
One of my very favorite children’s books is Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. I don’t know why, I’ve always loved it. It’s so cute and the colors are fun.

Reply

Hey girl! I’ve seen it at Target and I linked to it on Amazon. Oh I need to check that book out, thank you! Have a beautiful weekend Alyssa!

Reply

Awesome, thank you! I hope your weekend is wonderful :)

I used to tint my own eyebrows, but after a while the dye wouldn’t last very long so it seemed like a big hassle for a short outcome. But I used a different dye so maybe I should try this brand. Mine was like $70 too. Maybe this one is cheaper?

Cooking dinner is for the birds. Some days I am just NOT feeling it and its quesadillas for all!

My longest run on the treadmill is 13miles.

Once you got me on Marco Polo I realized I had other friends on there too. Ross is so happy I have another way to use my time talking to friends :)

Reply

Oh girl, this stuff is way cheaper… it’s like $16! Come over and try it before you buy it though. PS I am in love with your hair. Marco me today.

My Friday night is probably going to include a lot of relaxing and not leaving the house! Both my husband and I are feeling under the weather after our traveling adventures from this past weekend (we were in Disney World and had to evacuate because of the hurricane). Looking forward to some sleep!

Reply

That is my favorite kind of Friday night… I am SO sorry that you guys aren’t feeling well though! That must have been so crazy to be at Disney World and evacuate! Get lots of sleep Lisa!

Reply

Oh my goodness! Love the video. What a empowering message for all of us women who tend to be way too critical of ourselves and others. Thanks for sharing HRG.

Reply

Thank you Sharon for your comment! I agree, such a beautiful message. I hope you are having an amazing Friday morning!

Reply

FYI…I heard the pumpkin Kodiak cakes are good in flavor but not texture. The fix is to mix the original 1/2 and 1/2 with the flavored and they are fabulous! I haven’t tried it personally….but I think it is on tap for the weekend!

Reply

BRILLIANT… thank you for telling me this Bridgette! I will totally do this! I hope you have an awesome weekend!

My kindergartner loves Pinkalicious and the Fancy Nancy books. We have lots of favorites, and she really likes me to read longer books like Little House on the Prairie and the Narnia books to her.
Those dresses are super cute. You should also check out Roolee and Called to Surf–they have some great options for nursing friendly dresses. I have a couple and they are game changers.
I’ve done 10 miles on a treadmill and that was my max. My movie ran out before I was done so the last 1/2 mile was brutal.

Reply

For Kindergarten age- Mercy Watson series is great and Bink and Gollie. My oldest liked Katie Woo and since she started reading at age 3, she could read them easily. My youngest hates them though, she is in 1st and although she is reading, she is not a fan of the whole reading to herself idea!!! We also enjoy young Cam Jansen. I sometimes read the Clementine chapter books to my youngest, I started in Kindergarten. She also likes Bad Kitty which is more for older kids but she cracks up and since there are many pictures that helps! Oh and the Piggy and Gerald books are amazing.

Reply

I want those shorts so bad!!

Also, Children’s books are my favorite. I love “The Paper Bag Princess”, “Dragons Love Tacos”, and “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive The Bus!” “The Lorax” is also truly wonderful.

Reply

I LOVED that video, thanks so much for sharing! I’m so down to “be that person”! I’ve learned so much about how to love myself and others as I’ve gotten older, so those grey hairs are worth it!

Reply

Some of my almost-4 yr olds favorite books right now:
the Franny K Stein series by Jim Benton (chapter books but easy readers with lots of pictures)
the Those Darn Squirrels! books by Adam Rubin (higher level picture books)
the Otter books by Sam Garton (easier level picture books)
the Gossie and Gertie books by Olivier Dunrea (easy picture books)

Reply

I think the longest I’ve ever run on a treadmill was 10 miles and my last treadmill run was a couple weeks ago (outside running for the win!)

Friday night plans: marathon (!!) packet pickup and then an early bedtime! :)

Reply

I am obsessed with the Marco Polo app! I love to just turn it on when I’m in the car in ramble to my friends :-) I’ve got fun Friday night plans – my sister-in-law’s rehearsal dinner! My husband and I are both playing in the wedding too – I’m playing the piano and he’s playing the guitar. It should be a great time with family! And about my last comment about the dark chocolate covered candied orange peels – my phone autocorrected “candied” to “candies!” Maybe you’ve heard of them now :-) Thanks for all the clothes suggestions and have a great weekend!

Reply

I did a short treadmill run this morning! 3.5 miles with some intervals.

Today is a xc meet out of town and homecoming tonight. Ha, that makes me sound like a high schooler not a 35 year old mom.

Reply

My two most excellent children’s books are from Dr. Seuss. One is ‘Gertrude McFuzz’ and the other is ‘Yertle the turtle’. Both explain how more is not better. :)

Reply

this is awesome really awesome.. thanks…

Marco Polo is the best!! I don’t have conversations any other way now.
“There is a monster at the end of this book” is pretty fantastic. I still own my old 80’s edition of it. It’s a Grover book and made me laugh and laugh. I’m a big Shel Silverstein fan as well.

Super random question for you – which nail polish color do you have on your nails in this post?? I’ve been getting more gel manicures lately (oops!) and I just love this pink color. Thanks Janae xox
