Friday Favorites + We are LEAVING + Your Running Accomplishments!

We took some family pictures last night… I can’t wait to see them!!

Lindsey Orton is seriously the best!

IMG 7153

Let’s start with the morning run of course—>  Andrew has now added red lightbulbs to all of our lights outside.  We are going to start selling tickets for our own haunted house any day now;)

7.2 miles for my Thursday with a few miles in the 8:40s and a few miles in the 9:20s.   Oh and I listened to Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversation with Nate Berkus (Surviving the Storm) and it was a really good one.  They talked about how tragedy and loss can teach you to ‘turn the volume up on life’ and it was really inspiring to me.

IMG 7099

Back home to the crew for the real day to start.

IMG 7114

Two of my favorite parts of the day… driving the kids to school and walking them to their class and the same thing after school.  They have SO much to talk about in that short time and I just want to soak it all up.

IMG 7130

I’m pretty sure that these two did 50% of their communicating through their walkie-talkies yesterday.

We had some swim lessons!

IMG 7138

And some ‘spooky’ stories after our brinner:)

IMG 7157

Today we are off to California!  Knox is with his mom this weekend, Brooke is with her dad and Andrew and I are ready to relax for a few minutes:)

FRIDAY FAVORITES!!!

*We have started to get some stuff for the baby (ehh and me;) and I am so excited!  I saw one of my friends with the cutest diaper bag ever a few weeks ago and I had to copy her.  The kids have already started packing it up for me:)  THANK YOU Azaria for sending me the bag!

DSC09061

*My current favorite running quote/mantra comes from Kate Grace, “I am a discomfort master.  I thrive in all conditions.  Everything I need to succeed is already within me.  It is here to stay.

*The Levitate… I will have a review for you early next week but let’s just say the Launch have now taken 2nd place in my running shoe life:)

*A bunch of my friends use this stuff to fill in spots or to shape their eyebrows so I copied (I’m really good at doing this lately) them.  Yep, it is amazing!
IMG 6801
*New life goal:  to visit every donut shop on this list of The Best Doughnut Shop in Every Single State list.  So far I have hit up Bosa Donuts, Banbury Cross Donuts and Top Pot Doughnuts. (Thanks Bridget for sending this over).
*Waking up from an awful dream and a few minutes later realizing it was all a dream ha… This happens to me so often (especially while pregnant) and it always the biggest relief when I realize life isn’t what I just dreamed it up to be, ha.
*Monday is the ‘clean the entire house and get it all over within one shot and attempt to pick up the house throughout until the next Monday deep cleaning day’ day.  I LOVE how good our house feels Monday afternoon (for about 2 hours;).  I shared my favorite vacuum and I thought I would share my favorite mop with you too.  It is HERE and amazing… we have a ton of flooring in our house that needs mopping and this makes it go by so much faster.
IMG 6876
*A cup of hot chocolate each morning—> After a cold run especially, I look forward to it so much.  Target mugs and tumblers are my favorite!
IMG 6975
*I have a feeling these will be the best Cheerios yet… we might have to buy a box for each of us (PS growing up my mom would buy us our favorite cereal for our birthday and we would write our name all over the box to make sure no one else would eat it:).
NewImage
*This baby has wanted pasta a lot lately (I think I’ve had it once a day this week).  The Penne Rosa that I had at Noodles and Co was everything.  I didn’t want the bowl to end… I wonder if Andrew will want to go to Noodles and Co for our babymoon this weekend to get more;)

IMG 6927

*I thought this was a really interesting TED Talk:

*I don’t know how Target gets me with their Halloween section like they do but I just can’t help myself even though we don’t have soda or pop-tarts at home usually… the packaging got me (I went in for pumpkin to make pumpkin bread).

IMG 6985

*Did you hear that this is the last season of Fixer Upper:(  I’m going to enjoy and rewatch every single episode this season.

*I LOVED this quote that Pam posted.  Start where you are and keep moving forward with your running/life/everything!  My mom always tells me ‘don’t look back, you’re not going that way.’  Another great one—>  “Now is the best time to start becoming the person we eventually want to be.” -Dieter F. Uchtdorf

IMG 6976

*All of these nursing friendly cutest dresses (that have hidden zippers on the side… brilliant)… I’m really hoping nursing works this time but if not, no worries!

I love your running accomplishments SO much! Keep sharing them with me—>  [email protected]

Florence!!!  “Morning from sunny Monaco!  I first took up running in March 2016 and fell in love!  I trained very hard (often at 5 am to fit my training around my busy life as a lawyer) and finally ran my first 10k race in London in November 2016 in 1h25:)  I have now just completed my 6th 10k race (the Loch Ness 10k) and have diminished my time down to 1 h16 which I am DELIGHTED with!  In addition to constantly working to bring my time down, I’m also training for my first half marathon which will be in November this year, as a member of a relay team doing the Nice-Cannes marathon in the south of France!  Wish me luck! :)  Here is a photo of me with my Loch Ness medal!”

Bethany!!!! “Last Sunday, September 17, I ran my first full marathon.  I had trained for 18 weeks leading up to this and last minute, my husband (after running the long runs with me) decided to join in for the fun of it.  We decided earlier that we didn’t want to hold one another back, but also wanted to try to stick together as much as possible.  Everything went so, so well and it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life!  Although the temperature was brutal (80s around mile 20!), finishing together and strong felt so, so good!  We finished with a time of 4:32:32 and even though it was slower than I was hoping for, I didn’t let it bother me!  I am a marathoner and I finished without injury.  Here’s to the next race!  You can also find my full recap HERE!

Most important question of the day… WHO LIKES EGG NOG?!?

-I do not and I do not understand Andrew’s love for it.

How often do you remember your dreams?

Pumpkin bread—>  do chocolate chips make the bread better or do you prefer it without the chocolate chips?

How are you spending your Friday night?

Eggnog I’m not wild about… every December (no sooner!! And no offense to you but I have the same arbitrary personal standard of no pumpkin before October) I have a few sips and then I’m good for the year haha.

When it IS time for pumpkin, I’m all about the chocolate chips, but I definitely wouldn’t turn down plain pumpkin bread.

I dream literally every night but I almost never remember them. I imagine they wouldn’t be very worth remembering anyway hahaha.

My Friday night has me working from 5pm-1am! So excited to sleep in tomorrow…

Reply

I do not like egg nog… I have tried it but it is just not for me!
I think I remember my dreams far too often. I am on a medication that has a strange side-effect of making my dreams really vivid, so sometimes I wake up and I have to really think about whether something is real or not. Very odd!
I cannot deal with chocolate chips in pumpkin bread! Chocolate and pumpkin don’t go together in my opinion, but I do like white chocolate chips and LOVE cinnamon chips in pumpkin bread!
I’ve been sick all week so my Friday night plans are to get my hair cut and then be a lazy bum! I think my friend and I may watch Will and Grace that I recorded too…so a lazy night in!

Reply

Yes, Yes, Yes to Eggnog!! The Southern Comfort brand is the best (It’s non alcoholic). My husband doesn’t get my obsession but my kids do :) We go through an embarrassing amount each year.

Reply

I will have to get that kind for Andrew (and I’ll even try it since you said it is good)! I hope you have some soon and have an amazing weekend Brooke!

Reply

The southern comfort is the only kind my husband drinks!

Reply

I like pumpkin bread with or without the chocolate chips…….they are both good!
I cannot stand egg nog (unless you make french toast with it, but I can’t drink it) my husband loves it though!
And we got the pop tarts and oreos too! I haven’t seen those cheerios, but I admit I did not like the pumpkin ones at all.

Reply

OH NO!! Bummer you didn’t like the pumpkin Cheerios!! Egg nog french toast!?!? I feel like that is something I need to try! Have an amazing weekend Loribeth!

Reply

you just pour egg nog and a little cinnamon and vanilla and dip the bread in there before you cook it! Have a good weekend, too!

Reply

My husband and I are headed to California this weekend as well. Neither of us have ever been there so we are pretty excited. San Francisco, Napa, Yosemite, and Big Sur. Lots of walking for sure!

I absolutely LOVE egg nog, my husband is ok with it, but we have about 3 or 4 people in the family who HATE it. We have an egg nog toast every Christmas eve when the entire family gets together at my grandmothers, so not everyone is thrilled.

I remember a lot of my dreams. I usually wake up and think about them. Usually so I can tell my husband how weird they are. =)

Reply

Kelly… you are going to have the best time ever! ENJOY and let me know what you end up doing! I hope you get some amazing egg nog soon! HAHA I do the same… I really try to remember them sometimes just so I can give all of the details to Andrew. Have a blast!

I love my shark vacuum so much. I rave about it to anyone who will listen! So embarrassing but who cares?!
That diaper bag doesn’t even look like a diaper bag – so stylish!
I don’t think I’ve ever had eggnog but I’m not sure if I would like it.
Tonight I’m hoping to finally watch the season 2 premiere of This is Us!! And enjoy some adult beverages ;)
Enjoy your day!

Reply

No to egg nog and definitely no to chocolate chips in pumpkin bread. I do love pumpkin bread, though, and haven’t had any yet this year, so that needs to change ASAP!

Hope y’all have a wonderful time in Cali! My Friday night will probably consist of not a lot. I just moved to California from Texas and am still learning the ropes and everything around here, so my social life isn’t quite hoppin’ yet.

Reply

Have so much fun in Cali!
I love my Shark mop! Best thing ever!
We are the same way here; I think eggnog is gross and my husband loves it!
Pumpkin bread with chocolate chips is super yummy! Now I want to make some!
This weekend we have family coming into town. It’s a fun tradition we have created: eat cinnamon rolls and watch conference. And, stay in your PJ’S ALL day!!!

Reply

I like eggnog! Eggnog forever.

Your family is so photogenic, I can’t wait to see photos.

Is the best doughnut place in Utah near Prato…can we can go? Not that I can’t look LOL…I guess I’ll do that now.

Reply

It’s about 30 minutes away but we can DEFINITELY go!!! Cannot wait! Have a beautiful weekend Hollie. PS I can’t do running streaks either.

Reply

I don’ t normally buy oreos either. But I bought the Halloween ones because they seem fun!

I just made Healthy Pumpkin muffins last night with bananas, and no sugar. But I love them with chocolate chips and I added pecans on top for some extra crunch.

Don’t like eggnog, but my husband does!
Friday nights are for relaxing and unwinding from the week. Maybe Burgers and Netflix!

Reply

I do like egg nog and buy a dairy free one that’s delicious.

Chocolate chips make most things better.

I remember my dreams more when i purposely try to.

I don’t know what I am doing tonight but I am hoping to go to the Rennaisance Faire this weekend.

Reply

Enjoy the Renaissance Faire this weekend Nina!! I hope you get some egg nog soon!!

Reply

Wow this quote about being a master of discomfort! Soo true! Learning that discomfort is temporary and that I can push through it was a life changer for me. Hope you guys have a wonderful relaxing weekend!

Reply

RIGHT!?!? Seriously such a great way to think about discomfort! Thank you Mel and I hope YOU have an amazing weekend!

Reply

I work in packaging so I know that companies change the packaging around holidays to get you to buy it. Stay strong against it girl! Now i need to go try the chocolate peanut butter Cheerios because I love chocolate peanut butter anything hehe.
I don’t think I’ve ever had chocolate chips in pumpkin bread but I love classic pumpkin bread. I should bake it soon.
I’m lame and will probably spend my Friday night just hanging out at home.

Have a great babymoon!

Reply

I like the egg nogs that don’t have raw eggs in them — like the Silk brand almond nog!

Have fun on your trip!! I’m a sucker for all things seasonal — especially candy and candles!

Reply

Egg nog is super disgusting. I’m with you.
Chocolate chips in the pumpkin bread, please.
Tonight I’m babysitting my niece so my sister can take her husband out for his birthday.
Have the best babymoon this weekend!!

Reply

I am loving pasta myself, this week! We stocked up on tomato sauce to go with #allthepasta ? i love that you guys are so into Halloween! We haven’t done any decorating for fall or Halloween in our house haha but we should!!

Reply

Penne rosa is my favorite thing at Noodles – I get it every time! And I love Oprah’s podcast, too. I am working my way through listening to all the old episodes I missed, but I just listened to both of Nate Berkus’s ones and loved them so much. He is such a good man.

Have a great time this weekend!

Reply

I don’t really like egg nog but Southern Comfort makes some and it is really good. It doesn’t have alcohol in it even thought it is from SoCo. Also I love Penne Rosa from Noodles. It is actually really easy to make at home. I make my homemade alfredo sauce (recipe below) and then add red pepper flakes and a can of tomato sauce and boom there it is. Also I don’t cook the spinach but I strain the pasta over it and the steam and heat from that cooks the spinach to the perfect consistency.

Alfredo sauce recipe
Heat half cup heavy whipping cream
Add parmesan to taste (~1/4 c)
Add mozzarella to thicken (~1/2 c)
Fresh ground black pepper
White pepper (this is a very key ingredient)

Is that cereal for sale everywhere (like not just a specific store)? My husband loved the peanut butter cheerios and is so sad that we can’t find them anymore. I can’t wait to tell him about this!
Pumpkin bread is good with or without chocolate chips but chocolate chips make it just that much better.
I’ve never really had eggnog before, except when I chugged a cup during a 10k. That was a fun race haha

Reply

Hey Kaci!! It isn’t out quite yet (that I know of…) but I’ll let you know where I find it (most likely Target ha)! I hope you have an awesome weekend with your husband!

Reply

None of us like eggnog in my family but we didn’t grow up on it, so maybe that factors into it as well? I only remember my dreams right when I wake up unless I talk about it. Haha. My little girl has vivid dreams and always shares. One time she said she met God. I haven’t had pumpkin bread with chocolate chips but love pumpkin bread. We usually have dinner and a movie at home. It’s a great way to unwind from a busy week of school for the kids and work for my husband. My family is weird and we prefer watching a movie at home as opposed to the theatres. Have a great weekend with Andrew, Janae!

Reply

Oh I love that your little girl dreamed that she met God. Enjoy your dinner and a movie tonight… that sounds perfect Marie. PS I think you are 100% right about egg nog… my siblings don’t love it either and that is probably because we didn’t grow up with it!

Reply

I am going to Crested butte tonight to run the Elk run 5k with Emma Coburn. I am so excited!!!!!!

Reply

WHAT?!?!? AHHHH MORGAN!!! THAT IS AMAZING!! Please tell me all about it afterwards!

Reply

I totally get your need to buy all things halloween and pumpkin. I am the same way once fall comes around! For pumpkin bread, I prefer no chocolate chips but I LOVE topping my pumpkin bread/muffins with streusel (any mix of oats, brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, and maybe chopped nuts).

I hope your babymoon is great!

Reply

Thank you for reminding me of pumpkin bread streusel… NOW I AM CRAVING THAT big time! Have a beautiful day Katrina and keep buying all of the Halloween stuff!

Reply

Yuck to egg nog. I love eggson their own but don’t like egg nog or egg custard pie that my mom makes. I don’t know what it is haha. Also, since you posted about the new Cherrios, and egg now is winterish/seasonal, I have to recommend that you try out the newest Gingerbread Spice LIFE cereal. It is delicious and > pumpkin spiced cereals out right now. :)

Reply

AHHH thank you for the recommendation… I have to try that! My mom will love that too (gingerbread is her absolute favorite)! Have an amazing weekend Danielle!

Reply

It is too funny that you mentioned dreams b/c I sure had a weird one last night. I woke up and wondered why they heck I had a dream with a certain person in it that I hadn’t thought about in a long time. I’d taken a Tylenol PM before bed last night, so I’m blaming the dream on that…………..ha ha

I love Friday nights!!!!! Every Friday I go to a warm Fusion Yoga class. It’s 75 minutes–a combination of Vinyasa/Flow and Bikram yoga. Love, love, love it, and I love my teacher. She’s given me a lot of confidence to try some poses I never thought I would, like Wheel and Crow :) I can’t think of a better way to start my weekend.

We’re headed to Philly for the weekend/to stay over Saturday night. I’m excited–good food, shopping, some cool sights, relaxation, and this really cool “art exhibit” I want to see. An artist decorated 50 pedicabs with Chinese Lanterns, and they’re giving rides back and forth along the Ben Franklin Parkway for the next 2ish weeks, and it’s called “Fireflies” b/c at night the lanterns are lit, and it looks like fireflies moving along the parkway. Pretty cool, huh?! :) I’m hoping to get some awesome pictures!

Reply

Definitely the Tylenol Pos fault hahaha! ENJOY your Fusion Yoga class… that sounds awesome! Have a blast in Philly (I’ve only been there once but I LOVED it). I want to see your pictures! Have a blast Jen!

Reply

Babymoon YAY! hope you guys have a GREAT time.

I remember my dreams pretty well. I can even remember my dreams from years ago, which is sometimes a little weird haha. Enjoy your weekend, Janae:)

Reply

I can’t wait to see your new family pics!!

I don’t like egg nog, but I love egg nog ICE CREAM!!

Have so much fun this weekend! I hope you get to eat all the foods you love lol

Reply

Thank you Elizabeth and I hope you have an amazing weekend too! I should try egg nog ice cream, thanks for letting me know about that!

Reply

Chocolate chips make anything better! No to egg nog!

Pregnant dreams seem 100 x more real than other dreams. And mine were always about food or something that was always heartbreaking to me and then it took half the day to convince myself it wasn’t real.

Reply

I will occasionally throw a splash of eggnog in my coffee, but I dont really care for it plain. My husband LOVES it….but since I do the grocery shopping, I only get it a couple times a season ;)

Have fun in Cali!

Friday night plans…we get real wild. Put the kid to bed and watch a show on the couch before going to bed by 10. Somehow we got caught up in the Netflix show Bloodline. It is 100% drama and part of me wants to just quit watching (I can only handle so many twists)….but then I need to know what happens in the end. The struggle is real.

Reply

Thank you for the feature, Janae! I don’t usually remember my dreams, but during pregnancy I they are so vivid and I usually remember more than I would normally!
Eggnog- no thank you! Pass the hot cocoa or wassail.
I think chocolate chips make everything better!
And for Friday night plans, the family and I are going to watch a soccer game at my husband’s old soccer field and then probably end the night with some cheesy popcorn and a movie! Have you ever tried nutritional yeast on popcorn! It literally tastes like cheesy popcorn! SO GOOD!
Have a great babymoon!!

Reply

Eggnog is a no for me. But choco chips in pumpkin bread, yes ! I very rarely remember my dreams, or I remember enough that when I retell those parts people give me that ‘you’re stupid’ look. Better left unsaid unless I remember it all. Friday night plans are to pick up my race packet for a 5K tomorrow. In my hometown along the canal. They also do a mini triathlon and a little run/kayak for the kids. It’s all along the canal, so they have walkers and runners. Then the runners, bikers and kayakers. And a mini-mini of the same for kids. But nothing is timed, it to show kids the love and importance of fitness, family activities and it’s all about fun, not who wins. And they even have a light lunch for all racers. I love this one so much. And I think we are getting a nice day too !!! In the low 70’s, might be 50-60’s at race time. YAY. Given last week was 94, this is great news.

Reply

I like the old fashioned egg nog my mom used to make on the stove top with real milk and eggs and vanilla. The stuff in the store…*gag*. I have yet to find one that is even slightly palatable.

Reply

I like egg nog — but I don’t love it. I have to be in the mood for it because it’s so thick and goopy.
My husband loves egg nog — and he mixes it with Verner’s (A really strong Ginger Ale). It’s so weird!

I love pumpkin bread with chocolate chips! It makes it feel more like a treat! I make pumpkin muffins and scatter a few dark chocolate chips on the top before baking. MMMmmmhmmmmm.

We’re going camping! Tonight should be an adventure of setting up the campsite and making a fire for S’mores! They have these HUGE marshmallows especially for S’mores! They are as big as my hand and I can’t wait to roast and toast them!

Reply

Les loves eggnog! It’s a no for me.

I rarely remember my dreams. Les almost always has a story to tell me when we wake up.

I have never put chocolate chips in pumpkin bread. How have I missed that?

It is McBRAAM Eve around here – Les and his brother leave in the morning for their cross country cycling trip. My father-in-law is here from Tennessee – he’s driving the support van. 4 weeks, 2800 miles – California to Georgia. (http://mcbraam.blogspot.com/)

I’ve been looking at Azaria bags but wasn’t sure if they would feel heavy or not. I have a seventh month old baby girl and I’m a minimalist packer. Any chance of you doing a review post on the bag?

Reply

My husband left for the weekend this morning on a business trip to Florida. :-( I’m planning to spend the evening at my niece’s softball game and then cleaning my room.

Reply

I am not even sure how anyone could possibly like eggnog.

Pumpkin bread must have chocolate chips!!

Tonight will be super low key with the family! I am definitely looking forward to board games and scary movies!

Reply

YES to the egg nog!!! I love the plain, ‘ole grocery store brand :)
NO to chocolate chips in Pumpkin Bread! Anything pumpkin needs not additive – ha ha!
I hope you and Andrew have The.Best.Babymoon!! Can’t wait to see some of the new family photos.

Reply

Your belly is too cute and I love that mug!

Reply

LOVE playing with brows and i love the benefit brand products! their goof proof pencil is my fav :) – also i can agree that sandy’s donuts in north dakota is the BEST. the original sandy’s is just down the street from my house!

Reply

Have fun in your babymoon! If you haven’t tried the Green Thai Shrimp Curry at Noodles and Co. yet you really need to. It’s a smidge spicy but it tastes so amazing I eat it anyway.
Also, chocolate chips do not belong in pumpkin bread. ;)

Reply

I like GOOD/REAL eggnog – homemade, or from a real deal place like The Fresh Market or Smith Brothers Farms in Seattle. Yummy!!!! Cheap grocery store egg nog – no thanks!
I have ca-razy dreams when I’m pregnant! Every morning my husband would wake up saying “tell me about your dream!!!” haha
Chocolate chips make everything better :)
Friday night … husband is out of town … curled up on the couch with the kids watching a movie, now they’re asleep and I’m catching up on all things internet based :)

Just curious your thoughts in the Azaria diaper bag? Currently looking for a diaper bag!
