Friday Favorites + an interval workout + I miss this!

I bet you can guess how many miles I did yesterday:)  No training plan = my body goes to autopilot and I’m more than okay with that right now.   I sure love following all of your amazing training though in the comments, on your blogs or on IG.

Trying to see my toes while I run:)

I was pretty excited about my first ‘new’ hairstyle on Brooke’s hair.  It might have taken me a long time to do this but I’m sure I’ll get faster ha.

IMG 3312

Andrew walked in the door with two huge plates of grapes from my parents’ yard… they are SO good.

IMG 3306

Those grapes went straight into my salad.  Andrew thinks I’m strange because I like to mix dressings sometimes… this one had strawberry poppyseed, normal poppyseed and some balsamic vinaigrette in there:)  The more flavors the better.  He also doesn’t understand my cereal mixing but I sure love it.

IMG 3309

Yesterday afternoon we took the kids (we watched three of my brother’s kids yesterday while they are in Portugal) to get some energy out.

IMG 3313

We went to the bounce house place again and they ran for two hours straight (hence the pink cheeks)!  I fell asleep on the couch (Andrew was there) and it was so loud in there… nothing can stop this pregnancy nap need.

IMG 3316

For dinner I just wanted something really simple and these quesadillas did the trick.  So easy but so delicious (with salsa).

IMG 3317

And then they had some ice cream and I had…

IMG 3319

Cantaloupe.

IMG 3321

Later on last night Andrew was hungry and ordered some sushi that they deliver straight to our house (our area is all about late night food delivery lately)!  I miss sushi SO much… I’ll probably have them deliver sushi to me at the hospital after I have this little girl:)

Time for some FRIDAY FAVORITES:

*My absolute new favorite t-shirt EVER.  I love this one and I have it in blue and black and try to see how many times I can wear it each week (I just ordered the grey one too:).  It’s $24 and I hope you love it as much as I do…  it is long and super soft!

IMG 1781

*All of the amazing new arrivals at Roolee… they make me so excited for Fall and want to order everything.

*Around the web… things I’m LOVING:

Gina has an awesome Hamilton Inspired Total Body Workout that looks amazing (and I can’t wait to try it… with a few pregnancy modifications:)

-A DELICIOUS list of healthy meals to make for other people… I NEEDED this list (it will make you drool:)

-Oatmeal season is coming!!! Here are six overnight oatmeal recipes that look so good!

*We are getting closer to candy corn time (I’m hoping that my desire for treats kicks in by then and if not I will just store them until after I have the baby).  The best combination on the planet if you are a candy corn person (I know, I’m ahead of the seasons right now) is roasted peanuts + candy corn.  The perfect ratio is 1.5 peanuts per candy corn in case you are wondering.

Even Brooke at a young age was reaching for them.

DSC 4114

*This really could not be more true.  Isn’t it amazing when everything you are wearing for a run/race fits perfectly, feels comfortable and includes your favorite colors/patterns?!  Activewear is a big deal in my life.  It just means a lot to me and this made me happy:

IMG 0703

*My brother and his daughter are quite the running buddies. I was complaining about the timed mile at school when I was her age and she is already rocking 4 miles!

IMG 3113

*Andrew and I have our fourth race together tomorrow and I can’t wait.  It is a 12k so I’ve got an instant PR coming up (I’ve never done a 12k race before;) for me which is pretty exciting because a PR hasn’t been a thing for me in a long time ha.  This was from our first race together

IMG 7008

*An old workout that I used to love doing in case you are in need of some fast stuff!  Adjust your jogs to your easy pace and then the first run interval to somewhere between your half-marathon and marathon race pace and then continue to go about 10 seconds faster per mile with each interval!

IMG 1045

*CADBURY COATED OREOS!?!?!  These sound amazing!  If anyone tries them please let me know how they are!!

Screen Shot 2017 08 17 at 10 23 40 AM

*And this is Andrew’s Friday Favorite… just replace bike with unlimited running shoes or something;)

IMG 3303

*I can’t wait to listen to this episode with Desiree Linden (I LOVE HER… I mean we did talk for a full 34 seconds one time before the Boston Marathon) this morning!

PS did you know that Desiree ran the EXACT SAME TIME FOR THE FIRST HALF AND THE SECOND HALF this last year at the Boston Marathon!  Quite the metronome.

I LOVE hearing from you and your amazing accomplishments so if you want to be featured… send them to [email protected]  !!

Carrie!!  “This weekend I completed my third 100 on 100 Relay through the heart of Vermont.  This 100 mile race is completed by a team of 6, each running 3 different times throughout the day, with mileage for each person ranging from 15-18 miles. I was the only female on my incredible team, and we marked each relay transition with a hug instead of a bracelet hand off.  What an incredible mental and physical challenge to run 100 miles with a team- we started at 7:30 AM (the picture below is our ‘before’) and I crossed the finish line as the team anchor at 10:45 PM.  Feeling the camaraderie and support of our team helped us all to finish strong.  There truly wasn’t a more empowering feeling than running through rural Vermont in the dead of night with nothing but a headlamp and flasher vest before crossing the finish line with my entire team.  If you ever have a chance to do this race or another type of relay event, I encourage you to do it- they are exhausting but so much fun!”

Have any Friday Favorites to share with me!?  I would LOVE to hear them!

Are you an Oreo fan?  Have you tried the different flavors of Oreos that they offer?  Which ones are good and which ones aren’t?  Thoughts on the Cadbury coated ones?

What about Candy Corn—>  heck yes or no way!?!

What are you looking forward to the most this weekend?

My friday favorite is my Neff watch………….had it for a few months now and I love it! it’s bright blue and pink and is a simple watch that is 1980’s style! Love it!

Oreos………..I just like the plain double stuffed ones, and when they are cool colors that’s ok, too, but these crazy flavors have got to stop!

Candy corn heck yes! I smelled it in the store the other day before I saw it……….no joke:)

This weekend (Sunday night) we head to Nashville for a 3 day weekend…………so excited!

Reply

I’m going to have to look into these Neff watches! Sounds amazing Loribeth! Ahhh I totally can smell candy corn haha! Have the best time in Nashville!!!

Love Brooke’s hairstyle!! And Andrew’s favorite diagram made me laugh so hard.

I’m not an Oreo fan but those look absolutely delicious. I’ve never tried candy corn, so I don’t know if I like it or not. However, that combination with peanuts sounds very interesting.

Looking forward to my long run tomorrow and to spend time with my boyfriend.

Hope you enjoy your weekend Janae:)

Reply

I think you need to try candy corn this year:) have an awesome long run and enjoy time with your boyfriend! Thanks Nathaly!

Peanuts and candy corn is my all-time favorite snack!! You’re spot on with the perfect ratio :-)

I’m so glad we agree on this important thing Erin! Have a beautiful weekend!!!

Friday favorite for me – a local coffee company makes horchata lattes that are a-ma-zing. I don’t treat myself to fancy coffee very often, but this is usually what I go for when I do. Slightly sweet, cinnamon-y, creamy, DELICIOUS! I got one this morning and it has already made my day better.
I have tried some of the oreos, but I seem to remember the ones I didn’t like more than the ones I did. I didn’t like the fruity pebbles-inspired ones, they tasted fake sweet to me. I also didn’t like the watermelon – YUCK.
Candy corn is a yes for me, but only a little bit, and only with something salty to counteract it.
I am running my first 10k race tomorrow, and I am really looking forward to it! It’s in my hometown and it’s a route I run all the time so I feel comfortable with tackling the few hills and know what kind of paces I want to hit. And there’s a chance I will win a free watermelon and who wouldn’t like that?!

Brooke’s hair looks so pretty! Nice job!
Sorry, but no way to candy corn! I just can’t. But my husband loves it!
This weekend is going to be a fun one for us! We are going on a double date tonight with my BIL and his wife to the temple! And tomorrow the four of us are going to go to the Street Of Dreams and out to lunch. Should be a fun one!
I hope you have a great weekend!

Brooke’s hair looks SO good! I am looking forward to my annual work meeting/party this weekend and for it to be over haha I planned the entire thing and it’s been a crazy hectic week, so I’m ready for some peace and quiet starting on Sunday. Have a great weekend. :)

Reply

Can you come to New Jersey and put that braid in my hair? I’ll be waiting at the airport for ya ;) Kidding but it looks awesome! My big favorite from the week is the “Dear Evan Hansen” soundtrack, it’s SO good!! I love Oreos but don’t buy them since I will eat the entire package. I like the peppermint Oreo knock offs from Trader Joe’s during Christmas time. They are my favorite even though I don’t know the actual name haha.

Enjoy your Friday Janae :)

Reply

Wow Brooke’s hair looks great. I have actually been wanting to do that with my own hair. Haha, I looked at the idea though to be honestl. I have no braiding skills.

Grapes are probably my favorite fruit. I think I eat them by the pound.

Reply

Great job with your running – you are a rockstar! Thanks for sharing that workout – I’m going to have to slow down the paces a bit but I’m going to try it soon! Brooke’s hairstyle is gorgeous!
My Friday favorites are on my blog today :) check it out! :)
Have a great weekend!

Okay. Your list of Friday Favorites this week was spot on (oreos, I’m looking at you!). I, too, have done extensive Chicken Feed Research (this is what my family calls the candy corn/peanuts combo) and YOU ARE SO RIGHT!!!! 1.5 peanuts + 1 candy corn is the PERFECT ratio. #Science How excited I was that we reached the same conclusion…. #embarrassing

Reply

Okay, can I please copy you with calling it chicken feed.. that is awesome! I’m so glad our research matches up! I hope you enjoy some asap! Enjoy your weekend Rachel!

Thank you Laura! I hope you have an amazing weekend girl!

I’m going to have to go no way on the candy corn. It’s just really not my thing!

Brooke’s hair looks so good in that braid. I thought about trying it, but that’s a lot of elastics!

This weekend is all about the Saturday long run (12 miles!) and relaxing. Looking forward to getting it done and then rewarding myself with rest and some yummy re-fuel! Hope you have a great weekend Janae!

Reply

Hahah it really was… I realized that when I took the elastics out yesterday:) I hope your 12 miler is amazing Joanen and enjoy the refueling and resting after your big run!

My Friday fave is all the mango lately. I can’t get enough!
I am definitely a candy corn lover, but I won’t let myself buy it until October 1- hah!
I will forever and always love mint Oreos. Mint chocolate chip wins my heart every time.
I’m most looking forward to my first date night with my husband since our new baby… umm 6 months later… hah oops

Reply

I totally agree with you on the amazingness of mint chocolate chip… so good! Enjoy every minute of your date tonight Lora and congrats on your new little one (6 months ago;)!

I’m looking forward to the 3-day eclipse weekend. I live in NW MO and we are in prime viewing spot for our city. Public school closed for the day and my employer also closed for Monday. So my kids and I have planned an eclipse themed supper for that evening, Spaghetti and moon rocks. I’ve also got some surprises with breakfast and lunch and treats that day too. (Thanks Pinterest! for making me a cool mom). Also this weekend I have to teach Relief Society at church and rest up for one of my biggest work weeks of the year starting Tues.

Have a great day!!!!

Reply

No way?!!!? That is awesome Betsy! Enjoy the three day weekend with your kids (we want to come see the eclipse from your town) and I love the different foods you are making for them (you are a cool mom!!!)! Good luck with your lesson and huge work week!

I love Oreos! – The Birthday Cake flavor is delicious!
Candy Corn – Heck Yes! Especially with peanuts!

It’s a cutback week in training, I’m pretty excited about that (Only 14 miles on the schedule!), and it’s my cousin’s wedding up in Bemidji, MN. I can’t wait to celebrate!

Reply

Love hearing from others that love the brilliant combo of cc and peanuts:) enjoy the wedding and yay for cutback weeks (funny how marathon training makes us think that 14 miles isn’t that far anymore hahah)! Have a blast Kori!

Reply

Brooke’s hair looks amazing! I wish I could do stuff like that to mine.

I like some of the Oreos (none with chocolate), but have you tried the new PB&J ones?! I’ve been seeing them and stores but haven’t had much of an appetite for anything lately (I’m so ready for this stupid stent to be out of me and the next surgery to be over with and to maybe start feeling normal again). But as soon as I do, I kind of want to try them!

Reply

I have never tried the pb and j ones… I think I need to asap! Please celebrate with all of your favorite foods once you are feeling good again! Thinking about you Natalie!

Reply

Love Brookes’ hair!! I never tried candy corn but I’m not a big candy fan (unless it’s chocolate coated raisins :) ) I actually just bought some Oreos to decorate some pawprint cupcakes with and was eyeing up some skinny ones – they just looked fun :) Friday favourite: skate park fun with my little boy and sushi afterwards! It’s my birthday this weekend (hence cupcakes) but I have to get through a 2.5 hour run first – my longest yet, eek! Have a great weekend!

Reply

Happy happy happy birthday this weekend Alyssa! Skate park + sushi… have a blast! Good luck on your 2.5 hour run… you are going to rock it!

Reply

Brooke’s hair looks great! I love braiding- I worked at a girl’s summer camp during my summers in college and got really good at french braiding. It takes practice but it can be so soothing, too:)
My favorite thing this week has been kiwis! I never think to buy them, but whenever I do, they’re so good!!
I loved oreos as a little kid but as my gluten allergy got worse and worse, I started steering away from them. That said, I love cadbury chocolate!
Candy corn is great! especially on froyo…
I’m looking forward to hanging out with some friends and getting a little bit of running in this weekend!

Reply

Ahhhh Kerri I used to put candy corn on my froyo too… so good! Now you have me craving kiwis:) enjoy your weekend Kerri!

I am not a big candy corn fan, truthfully. I would maybe eat one or two a season if I was at a friend’s house and they had them out, but otherwise, I’ll pass.

This weekend, I’m most looking forward to a massage tomorrow! It’s been about 2 years since I’ve had one and man, I need it! I’m taking myself to a nice resort a couple hours north of where I live to make it feel more like a little getaway.

Reply

Oh massages are the absolute best! Enjoy every second of your getaway Katie!!

Reply

We don’t have plans this weekend and I’m pretty excited about that. I’m hoping to get to the beach one afternoon. It’s just nice to not have plans for a change.

I used to love candy corn, now it tastes like sweet wax to me.

Reply

I LOVE weekends like that… no schedules or places to be! Enjoy the beach Nina!!!

Reply

My Friday Favorite is POPCORN!! I’m obsessed and can’t seem to quit it! I love the ultra hot, freshly popped buckets with a generous sprinkling of ranch powder. OMG HEAVEN!

I’m an oreos fan, but not so much a candy corn fan — it tastes like wax to me!?!

This weekend, I’m most looking forward to sleeping in! This was our first week back to school (for us professors anyway) and I’ve had several 5am wakeups. I’m ready to sleep past 7!

Reply

Oh enjoy your sleeping in Susie! The best!!!! Happy first week back! I hope you get some oreos soon!

Funny story… I was scrolling on my facebook and came across “15 Motivating Phrases To Repeat During A Race” and was going to send it to you for your arm writing idea during races until I saw that you wrote it!! Haha!! I loved the phrases… will definitely use them!!! :)

Reply

Oh hahaha! I remember that article! Glad you liked it and have an amazing weekend Maddie!

Reply

Brooke’s hair looks AMAZING. I wish I could do fun things like that to my hair but my arms always get SO tired. Maybe some inspiration to increase my strength training ;)
Not a huge fan of regular candy corn but I like the pumpkin ones (although they probably taste the same)
Hope you have a great weekend!

Reply

Hi Janae!! I absolutely love that hairstyle on Brooke – nice job! I should probably learn how to do more than just a ponytail for myself…

I love candy corn. I could eat it all day. The addition of peanuts sounds incredible! Definitely going to try that this fall.

Hope you have a great weekend!!

Reply

I love candy corn, my favorite are the pumpkins though. Can’t wait to stock up on those! I am sure I would love the Cadbury oreos, since I love Cadbury chocolate.

I am looking forward to my last long-ish run tomorrow before I run a marathon in Jackson Hole in a couple of weeks. I am also looking forward to spending time with a couple of girl friends that I haven’t seen in awhile!

Reply

Hi Janae! Brooke ‘s hair looks amazing. And you look so beautiful and happy.
I so excited to hear your brother is I Portugal. That’s where i’m from. I hope they are having a great time.
Have a great weekend.

Reply

Brooke’s hair is adorable!

I’m all about the candy corn! Though I try not to eat too much of it cause I know it’s terrible for my teeth with all the sugar in it.

Reply

I just discovered mint chocolate brownie larabar and it was amazing!!!

Reply

Hey, I look forward to reading everything, everyday. I’m a total stalker. That’s why I care.
Oreis. I haven’t officially tried them yet, but I’ve heard they’re umm… disgusting? So just feel free to buy them and send them directly to me (I’ll message you my address) so I can umm… dispose of them properly. Obviously I’ll get the job done properly, don’t even worry about it. No reason to test these things yourself.

Reply

I love reading about the accomplishments you feature from readers and hope one day to be able to tell you about one of mine! That shirt is awesome! I wish they had it in XL. I would buy it on the spot. Maybe that will be a goal of mine after I have lost some weight. Have fun at your 12K! I love how you call it an instant PR because of the new distance. Do they make candy corn Oreos? How do you think they would be?

Reply

Watched my son come in first place in his high school cross country meet (17:31)! Going out for pizza to celebrate! Good luck at your race tomorrow.
