Our Park City favorites, how do I always forget this and YOUR Race Accomplishments !

Somehow we always forget that sleeping the four of us in one hotel room = not a lot of sleep is going to happen at night but that’s okay, right?  It just means I’m out the door early for a quick 5 miles (@ a 9:23 pace yesterday… really branching out this time;).

My Park City run included either going UP or DOWN.  No flat.  I’ve opted for lots of flat these days so some hills were a good change for me.  Isn’t it amazing all of the beautiful places that our running shoes take us?   I love running on trips because of all of the new things I get to see along the way.

We hung around the hotel for a little while before going out for some breakfast.  We went to Bridge Cafe and I say that they have the best pancakes I’ve ever had but Andrew thinks that I might think that based on the fact that they were eaten in the mountains and on vacation.   Their home fries are also amazing.  If you are in Park City, go here for breakfast once.

IMG 8977

Andrew’s french toast had ham and cheese in between each slice.  Combining sweet and salty!

IMG 8978

After we were fueled, we were ready to start all of the activities.

IMG 8982

We started by taking the lift up the mountain… we were going to first go for a hike but decided since the lines were short for the alpine slide that we would go for that first instead.

IMG 9098

IMG 8997

Andrew and Knox went down the mountain as fast as humanly possible and Brooke and I went about 1 mph…

IMG 9097IMG 9096

We did the Alpine Coaster too and it was my first time doing this… It is basically like the slide but I thought it was even more fun so if you are ever here, try the coaster too!

And then we left for our hike.  We packed a bunch of snacks and expected to be out there hiking for a few hours..

But some tired legs (mine too:) prevented us from going as far as we were planning.

IMG 9007

We stopped at a really pretty overlook and ate some snacks for a bit before heading back own (the chair lift took us most of the way… we didn’t hike this high up but that would have been cool).

IMG 9010

FYI not sponsored but I found a new running clothes (I’ve needed some new things because my old clothes aren’t fitting super great anymore) company that I am loving and wanted to share with you in case you are searching—>  rabbit.  Whatever fabric they use is beyond soft, comfortable and flexible.  I love the colors and cuts they have in everything and they might have taken over my former #1 spot for favorite running shorts (the hopper)…  I want to buy them in every color.   Just wanted to share in case you are needing some new gear.

Andrew told me to go over near this sign and take a picture with it… I have no idea why, I don’t have control issues in the slightest;)

IMG 9031

Dinner at 4 p.m.  We were there before the early bird special.  Eating early makes me really happy because it means less nausea and that I can go to bed early.  We tried out Burgers & Barley and it was really good.  Next time I would get Andrew’s mac & cheese burger though.

IMG 9101

We sat by the pool for a bit watching these two.  PS our kids can swim at this point but the pool still terrifies me (anybody else?!)… I can’t blink the entire time they are in there.

IMG 9105

In bed and watching Smurfs (sorry for the blurry picture) by 6:30 pm.  I try to return to my former energizer bunny (what my mom calls me) self but then my body reminds me that getting in bed early is always the better idea.

You guys are amazing!  I LOVE your accomplishments.. send them to [email protected] if you want to be featured!

Hayley!!!  “I wanted to share this accomplishment not because it was in any way a PR but because 6 miles into this Half Marathon I desperately wanted to quit!  My good friend, Emma and I decided to sign up for the Seacoast Half Marathon in Salisbury, Ma on June 18.  Little did we know that it would be 85 degrees with 90% humidity.  The first 3 miles went great but heading into the 4th mile, everything started to hurt and my pace decreased rapidly.  The next 9 miles were truly a test of mental strength and putting one foot in front of the other.  I cried a little and told myself to just get through each mile.  Knowing I had a friend waiting at the finish line was a huge motivator, Thanks Emma!  Not my fastest race but could not have been any more proud than to simply finish it!  Check out my recap here!”

Sadie wrote this for her friend Caitlin!  “Caitlin ran the lululemon 10k in Toronto on June 17 and crushed it!  Here is a picture.  She is my inspiration for running and the one who first introduced me to the concept of working out!  My life wouldn’t be the same without her!”

Would you say that you are a dare devil or not so much?  Has it changed over time?

-Before kids = skydiving, jumping off of cliffs into the water, chasing adrenaline…. after kids= NOOOOOO WAY!!!!  I lost all of my fearlessness!

Have any fun weekend plans?  A long run?

I am wondering about seeing Cars 3 soon with the kids… if you have seen it will you please let me know what you thought of it?

When you go out to eat for breakfast… do you usually go for the sweet meal (waffles, pancakes, french toast) or more of the omelet type meals?  Also, do you like bacon or sausage or none?  I’m all about the hash browns or potato sides (I have a severe love for potatoes if you haven’t noticed yet.  I wonder how many I have had in this life?

Thanks for sharing the Rabbit running clothes ideas! I had never heard of it, but it has some pretty cool stuff!

I think I’m more of a daredevil. I’ve always liked roller coasters and thrills like that!

I definitely go for more sweet at breakfast (LOVE pancakes, French toast, waffles, blueberry muffins), but I still get my salty because I eat Wheat Thins at EVERY meal. I love potatoes, too, and I think I would go with sausage as a side rather than bacon. Hope y’all continue to have a great trip!!

I’m definitely a dare devil, but I don’t feel the need to do crazy things as much as I get a little older!
Super excited to hit the beach and barbecue scene this weekend!
I haven’t seen cars 3 yet, but I’ve promised my niece a trip to the drive in theater so I’ll probably have a review for you soon!
I love sweet stuff, but I also know that it doesn’t keep me full, so I often get an egg+fruit for breakfast for some balance!
Have an AWESOME weekend! those pancakes look SO GOOD!

Thank you so much Kerri! I want to go to the drive in theater soon… that sounds awesome! So fun you are going with your niece. Enjoy your bbq and the beach this weekend!

I am so glad you said something about Rabbit, because I have been looking at their stuff for some time now and couldn’t decide whether or not to try them out! Awesome!
I am cautious with other people and a daredevil with myself so I would say a mix?
Weekend plans include potentially getting a puppy! Ahhh!
Have a great trip!

I love the combination of sweet and salty, so I love pancakes and bacon. I have a love affair with all styles of potatoes as well. I have to say that Andrew has some super dad strength to carry both kids while hiking…supermen qualities.

Have a great weekend and holiday.

Reply

Good to know that I’m not alone with my obsession with potatoes… I can’t find a way that I don’t love them:) HAHA YES he definitely has the superman qualities… I would fall over trying to do that. Thank you and i hope you have a great weekend too Jacinta!

You guys are just the cutest family! Can i get in on that slide? That looks epic. Im in Tahoe for the 4th this weekend- so excited!

Haha I saw your Rabbit gear I was like….what?? AWESOME! I’m an ambassador for them (RADrabbit ;-)) and for real, they make the best running clothes. I highly recommend the Sleevie Wonder in the winter and the legs shorts. They’re tiny, but they make you feel FAST.
I am not a dare devil, yet somehow I’m always tricked into doing terrifying things.

Reply

NO WAY!!! That is awesome Mollie! I don’t know how I went so long without their gear… it is amazing. That is awesome you are an ambassador for them! Thanks for the recommendations.. keep them coming! Have the best weekend!

I think I’m more cautious than I used to be, and I don’t even have kids! I went on a roller coaster recently for the first time in probably 6 six years and I felt awful afterward. I’ve heard that roller coasters can affect us differently as we get older and that was definitely the case with me!

I definitely get savory stuff at breakfast. I don’t really like breakfast all that much anyway (I know, I’m weird), but I’m getting better. I’ll usually get a breakfast sandwich or a burrito – and definitely with hashbrowns!

I have a cutback week this week to 5 miles for my long run, then I’m heading to my parents’ house because my aunt and uncle are visiting.

Looks like you are having a great trip! Enjoy the rest of it!

When I order breakfast I either get something I’d never make for breakfast, like biscuits and gravy, or I go all out and order eggs, bacon, pancakes and hash browns. Breakfast food is delicious, especially when I don’t have to clean it up :)

I LOVE the Alpine slide! My family would always do it when we were near mountains on vacation. The coaster did not exist the last time I did it so I might have to go on a mountain vacation and try it out. Have a great weekend!

It looks like a lot of fun Janae! I make a lot of waffles and pancakes at home so when we are out to eat, I typically eat omelets and eggs.

This weekend I’m working but I think we are going hiking on the Fourth!

Reply

I am definitely not a dare devil of any sort! I wish I was braver about things like roller coasters, but I don’t think anyone could ever drag me kicking and screaming to go bungee jumping or skydiving.

Reply

Can you talk about feet, shoe sizes, and pregnancy? When I was pregnant my feet swelled like crazy. Do yours do that and how do your running shoe selections change before/during/after pregnancy?

Reply

HEY SAGE!!! So I actually haven’t had that problem yet (with Brooke or with this pregnancy). I remember my feet would swell more at nights when I was pregnant with Brooke but they still fit into my shoes. What I am loving… is the more softer and comfortable shoes. I don’t normally run in the ultra comfort shoes but right now, that is all I want. Did your feet go back to their normal size after your pregnancy? I hope you are having a wonderful day!

Before my kids were born I was all about roller coasters and rides of any kind. With my son, I wasn’t so worried because he would sit still, but my daughter is a wiggle worm, and I am always nervous when I get on a ride with her.

Reply

Thanks for the clothes recs!
I love savory breakfast so I’m more an omelet girl
(or a breakfast sandwich) than sweet. We saw Cars 3 a week or so ago and it was not as funny as the previous but it may have made me cry at the end. It was a little more serious than the other Cars movies. I don’t remember anything inappropriate for kids. My boys are 7 and 9 and they liked it.

Reply

THANK YOU ALI for letting me know about Cars 3… I really appreciate it! i hope you get an omelet asap!! Enjoy your weekend with your boys!

Reply

Knox looks about 9 years old in that pic where he has his hat backwards!! Hope you guys have the best vacation! I always get waffles when I go out for breakfast!

Reply

I have always been super cautious! Nothing has changed :)

I love rabbit! I have their ultra ladies tank. Just bought the black crop and a pair of the hopper shorts. I can’t run in the shorts, they ride up in a hot second (but I knew that would happen) so I bought them as something to hang out in. So comfy! The crop is super lightweight, I haven’t run it in yet but I got it as motivation to work on becoming stronger and confident with the runner’s body that I have. Can’t wait to try more of their stuff. I need to run in compression-type shorts because my thighs can’t keep their hands off each other, and I heard that rabbit will be offering some soon. Fingers crossed!

Reply

Oh this makes me so happy that you love rabbit… I’m obsessed right now! Keep me updated with what things you try… and I’ll copy you:) Hope you have a great weekend Pam!

You guys have an amazing life. Looks beautiful!

When I go out for breakfast, what I like to have the most is sweet stuff mixed with salty stuff. I would ALWAYS go for pancakes, eggs, and sausages. I’ve never been a fan of bacon but lately my boyfriend has hooked me up with those. I also LOVE hash browns, so I’ll usually steal a few bites from his plate.

Reply

I am a daredevil as long as I am buckled in something that is bolted to the ground. For example… I LOVE roller coasters, the faster and taller the better but waterslides? Unless its meant for babies you wont catch me on them!
This weekend is Kennedy’s blessing and I’m super excited/stressed. This whole week we have had non stop problems, stress and sickness. I hope that means the weekend with both huge families here will be calm and perfect!
I love all breakfast food. My husband and I usually get a sweet and savory breakfast and then share both if we go out! I love ham and bacon but sausage I am a little more picky about. Give me ALL THE POTATOES though! My all time favorite breakfast is eggs benedict, potatoes, a bowl of fruit and a big glass of O.J!

Good for your for not letting your eyes off the kids in the pool! A lot of info shows that even if children can swim, that doesn’t mean they can save themselves if they get fatigued. I really appreciate what a great model you guys are about attending to children at the pool and not just leaving them there because they know swimming strokes.

Reply

EXACTLY! Thanks Zoe. I have a good friend that lost her niece in the pool last year and they were all standing right there. It terrifies me and things happen so fast. I hope you have a great weekend!

Hi Janae! I taught used to teach swimming (and lifegaurded), in high school and for a couple of summers after when I was home from college. I taught (mostly) kids aged 3 and up and coached swim team. You are absolutely right in keeping an eye on your kids! I can’t tell you how many times, whether I was teaching or guarding, a kid would be out in the middle of the pool and all of a sudden, get too exhausted to make it back. This isn’t to scare you, or anyone else (I’m also on the “cautious side;)), but a reminder to keep an eye on your kids. I miss teaching very much and still catch myself in “lifeguard mode” when I go to friends/relatives homes that have pools and kids around ?!! You and Andrew seem like amazing parents and I’m so excited for your growing family!❤️ (Sorry for the long post)

Reply

Ugh…so many grammar/spelling mistakes. Sorry!

Reply

THANK YOU for sharing this with me. That must have been SO scary to see that! If I choose to take my kids to the pool, that means my eyes are on them at all times! Thanks so much for sharing you and let’s stay on that cautious side!

I will do rollercoasters but I am not a daredevil……………planes freak me out the most!

This weekend (holiday weekend) will be a busy one at work! No big plans, just a run or two and movie nights at home.
I love the sweet breakfasts, especially french toast, but I could not eat it with ham and cheese on it! I prefer scrambled eggs on the side, but occasionally I will eat turkey sausage. My husband is all about breakfast burritos or eggs and sausage and hashbrowns, but I prefer the sweet!

Have a great weekend!

You look so cute in that hat!! I love the style and color–and not everyone is a hat person, so you pull it off really well. And I do think it might be somewhat in our heads, but I agree that almost all meals taste better on vacation :) Something about the mood that being away puts us in AND having someone else make it for us :)

Looks like you guys are having awesome weather and making some great memories. I have only been out west to Utah and Colorado in the winter to ski, but summer looks incredible, too!

Reply

Thank you SO much Madeline… I’ve never thought I was a hat person:) Now I will be wearing this hat non-stop! Yes… you nailed it about vacation food. Come visit Utah again and we will ski with you:) Have a great weekend!

I am definitely not a dare devil, I much prefer fun, safe activities ;) We don’t really have any plans this weekend- except I have a group long run of 12 miles tomorrow morning! Can’t wait!!

Reply

HAVE A BLAST BETHANY on your group run tomorrow… let me know how it goes! So fun that you have a group to go with!

Reply

It seriously is SO MUCH FUN to run with a big group! The town I live is is doing their annual marathon (the one I am doing too) and the local running stores host these group runs for runners to preview the marathon course! They have pacers, massage therapist, and about a 100 runners that show up. It seriously is the best way to start a Saturday! I will let you know how it goes!

Reply

I love the Rabbit running shorts! If only they weren’t so expensive :/
I’m more of a daredevil now than I used to be for sure! I don’t like to waste time being scared of something that may or may not happen. Maybe having kids will change that but who knows?
Enjoy your holiday weekend!

I’ve surprised myself as I’ve gotten older, I’m more adventurous than ever!

10 mile Tantalus loop on Sunday. It’s been over 2 months since we’ve been here so I’m ready for the pain.

I usually go for the sweet breakfast food but always with a side of bacon… or Spam when we’re in Hawaii!

Reply

Kathy, that is so awesome that you have gotten more adventurous with age… teach me! Go enjoy all of your pain on Sunday and let me know how it goes! Oh spam… I still haven’t tried it!! When I went to school in Hawaii people kept trying to get me to eat it. How is it?

Reply

Sweet breakfasts always! I never get bacon or sausage though, I like really crispy bacon and most places it’s limp and gross. Also, I only like sausage patties and not links so I don’t bother… just pancakes for me! ?

Reply

Looks like you guys are having fun!

I would say I can be a bit of a daredevil, but I have to be moving… like bungee jumping, rock climbing, white water rafting = GREAT. That observation platform thing where you stand on plexiglass in the Sears Tower however many stories in the air? NO THANKS.

I have a 10 mile run planned for tomorrow. It’s supposed to hit about 85 tomorrow with about 90% humidity so I am going as soon as it’s somewhat light out, and heading for the country.

There’s a cafe in my town that makes AMAZING breakfast bowl type things – I usually get the veggie one with hashbrown or homestyle potatoes, add bacon, and easy over eggs, and then of course I get pancakes for my side! Sweet + salty is the best combo in my opinion.

Reply

I LOVED Cars 3! Not as good as the first of course but I loved it for different reasons. It’s more focused on racing which of course I made parallels to running! It was kind of all about accepting everyone for who they are even when they might not look the part – kind of like the “I have a runner’s body” movement going on!

Reply

THANK YOU KELLI for letting me know… I can’t wait to watch it and I love that theme! Have an awesome weekend!

Thank you for sharing your rabbit finds. How is the sizing? What size tank are you wearing? Looks like you are all having an amazing vacation!!!

Reply

Thanks Ashley!! I think the sizing is right one! I’m usually a small but the medium is working best now that I’m pregnant and the tank is also a medium! It is so beyond soft and the detailing is amazing (you can’t really see it in my pic)! Thanks so much and have a great weekend!

Reply

I will try some things but I’m not too big of a daredevil.

I happily have few plans for the weekend. We have had something to do every weekend for the last 5 weekends (multiple days most of them). I’m happy to chill, meet my friends for an easy run, and do a short local race with a friend on Sunday.

I like both sweet and savory. I will always skip the potatoes if grits are available. One place that specializes in omelets lets you get pancakes as a side instead of potatoes. That’s pretty much my idea of heaven, even though I go home with half my meal.

Reply

Back in my neck of the woods! Love that you checked out some of the fun rides at PCMR! Looks like you ran up the rail trail from your photos, that is a steep incline at elevation! I manage a hotel in Park City if you ever want to come up for a little rest and relaxation before your baby comes :)

Reply

Park City is one of my favorite places! I grew up visiting every summer from the East Coast and it was always a blast. The alpine slide is the best!
