15 Pictures/Things to Discuss from our Day!!! +Why waste the space?

1.  The day started nice and early over at our house.  Andrew left early for the hospital and I left for a run (my niece was staying at our house so I could sneak out while everyone was asleep).  I didn’t have long before I needed to be back but 36 minutes of running is a whole lot better than no running in my opinion.  I told myself (and I was SURE of this) that I would do  strength training at home later on in the afternoon.  Take a guess… do you think that actually happened?  Nope, it didn’t.  My workout motivation is high in the morning but then from there it crashes to about a 0% chance of happening after noon.

2.  The PureFlow 6s (my full review on these shoes is here) continue to impress me.  Light, flexible, supportive & purple… what else do I need in a pair of running shoes.  Each morning I have a tough debate with myself over whether to wear these or my Launch’s (review of those here)… such hard decisions I have over here!  PS I don’t know why my back foot is tilted so much to the side during this picture but maybe this is something I need to be working on…

3.  From there it was straight to an EARLY family event.  Megan D told me about the peaches at Costco yesterday so I did what I would normally do and went STRAIGHT to Costco after this conversation.  She was right.  100% right.  The Costco peaches are everything right now.  Go (at least if you live in Utah).

4.  My sister, aunt and sister-in-law + a lot of other family were there too.  My oldest nephew just graduated from high school and he is leaving on a mission (for my church) soon to Texas… so lots of get-togethers before he leaves.

5.  From there the kids and I changed into swimsuits and made a quick stop to walk around the Farmer’s Market.  We left with some homemade slime and Hawaiian Punch so clearly it was a successful time there!

6.  And then it was time to meet a friend at the pool with her four year old.  We brought pb & j sandwiches and hung out there for a few hours.

IMG 7167

7.  We were beyond hot by the end and the best way to cool off according to the kids is a trip to the snow cone shack.

8.  I think I’m snow-coned out so I went for the Dippin’ Dots instead.  These took me straight back to junior high… this was my ultimate treat back then.

IMG 7178

9.  The friend we went with sent me this picture of her peach shake from Chick-Fil-A and I can honestly say that she made the much better post-pool decision.  I’ll work on my decision making skills.

10.  Showers and in PJs by 4 pm:)  We did all of the laundry and cleaned most of the house (those other parts of the house… out of sight out of mind? Right? Maybe I’ll clean those rooms next week;)

11.  I brought back an old love for dinner.  I kind of forgot about sweet potatoes (I KNOW?!) but was reminded when I opened the cupboard searching for dinner!  If you haven’t tried a sweet potato with bbq sauce yet, you haven’t unlocked the full potential of a sweet potato yet.

12. When you open up a bag of chips from Costco and it looks like 72% of the bag has already been eaten:

13.  Probably not my best idea to take these two to Target minutes before bedtime.

IMG 7192

14.  Found these though… The convenience of such goodness is amazing.

15.  Jordan Hasay.  She doesn’t post on IG a ton but when she does, I get really excited because her posts/quotes are always the best.  “A head full of doubts and fear has no room for dreams.”  WOW.  I love thinking about it that way… why waste our brain space with silly doubts/fears when we could make room for so many better things!

I work in packaging and the reason your potato chips look like some have already been eaten is to preserve them! Just thought I’d pass that tidbit along. Also, Brooke and Knox always look so cute in the pictures you post.

GOOD TO KNOW!! Thank you Maureen… I was wondering if I just lucked out with the wrong bag ha! I hope you are having a great day!

Have you watched Saint Ralph? It is a fictional story about a 14 year old that trains for and competes in the Boston Marathon. It was an awesome movie. It is not kid friendly as there are some more adult/teenage topics but my husband and I enjoyed it.

Hey Carrie! I haven’t seen that yet… thank you for the recommendation! I’ll have to watch it with Andrew ASAP!! I hope you are having an amazing Sunday!

I’m the same way about strength training. I feel like my motivation significantly decreases in the afternoon/evening. This morning has been slow moving but it’s a nice/sunny day so no complaints about that!

That sweet potato looks amazing! And I wish we had your weather for going to the pool :) My little boy (age 4) has a question for Brooke and Knox: ‘what foods and treats and restaurants should I look out for when I go to NYC on holiday from the UK next week?? I’m looking for fun things that are different from home :)’ (and he says if they would like to sample some goodies from here we can mail some over ?) We’re also hoping to fit in a family run in Central Park as he is signed up for a virtual race in June where he wins a Minions medal :)

Your Sunday lunch sounded amazing… I need that ASAP!! Ahh you are going to NYC next week! That is so so fun… enjoy every second and I want to hear all about it! Minions medal… that is awesome! Please let me know how it goes and give us tips because Brooke and Knox have never been to NYC!

Life gets in the way when I postpone my workout til the afternoon and it ends up not happening.

Ps we had a boring breakfast but a fun Sunday lunch: fluffy eggs! You lightly toast some bread, separate one egg per person and whip the white to peaks. Spread three quarters of the White onto the bread, make a little dip in the middle and slip in the yolk. Completely cover the yolk with the rest of the white, sprinkle over some cheese, and bake for 10minutes. The yolk is still runny but the whites are all fluffy. It was new to us (and the little one wasn’t too keen apart from the yolk!) but it was fun :)

Favorite part of Saturday was taking Maybelline, my pit bull, on a walk at my favorite trail. I’m leash training her and she did so well. She even ran with me a little which is what I’m grooming her for. I get scared running outside on my own, but nobody will bother me with Maybelline by my side.

The only thing I’ve I’m motivated to workout IS in the afternoon because hats when I’m at my peak. In the morning my body s just not ready.

Best part of my saturday was hitting up my local wholesale store and stocking up on ALL THE VEGGIES. Just got back from a carb-filled journey through Italy, and as amazing as traveling was, I have never wanted a baby carrot so much in my whole life. All I could think about on the 9 hour flight home was carrots and hummus!!
I can only find the motivation to work out later in the day if I go right after work. If I take one step inside m apartment, it’s over! I pack my gym/running stuff every day and bring it with me to work!
Saturday morning breakfast over here was oatmeal with a spoonful of PB and some scrambled eggs! I try to keep it simple and balanced:)

What part of Texas? I have a brother in law on a mission there right now.

Dallas!!! Oh that is awesome… where is he?

Houston. My grandparents went to Dallas though, he will love it!

What was the best part of your Saturday?
The Kazanluk Rose Festival (did you know that Bulgaria makes 85% of the world’s Rose oil?)

Can you find the motivation to work out later in the day?
If I haven’t run in two days (or didn’t run today and know I will not have time to run tomorrow), then I am motivated (unless it is the weekend). How? I have my glass of wine before 7, eat only fruit or popcorn or crackers for snacks after that, and stay up after my husband goes to bed, then hit the treadmill for usually 3 to 6 miles.

Have a farmer’s market that you go to? Alas, not really. There is one year round here but in downtown Sofia with no parking and I am useless with public transportation in any language.

What’s your Sunday morning breakfast!
Today crepes and cherries!

I so hear you on the strength training, if I work out in the afternoon, it’s sheer discipline that gets me to finish the workout- not motivation haha. I am a early morning running person, forever.

Breakfast over here was oat flour banana pancakes with scrambled eggs. Simple, but delicious!

Please tell your sister that her hair looks AMAZING dark. Gorgeous!

I’ve been running with the Pure Flow 6s for a month now and wow, it totally feels like training in slippers haha Perfect for my 5am runs! The best part of my Saturday was a 5 miler including 2 long hills. Felt so good to be outside after being sick for part of last week. I was craving salad for breakfast this morning so I made a sweet kale salad with poppyseed dressing, avocado, dried cranberries and raspberries on top and a side of cubed and roasted sweet potatoes. It was so so good ;-)

I can definitely find the motivation later in the day when it has been 8 hours with my favorite 2 year old. ;) C comes home and says head out……yep, do not need to twist my arm.

Last night was date night with the mr. Great food and live music.

Reply

Hahaha true… that definitely gives some motivation when you NEED to have some time on your own:) Sounds like the perfect date night Erica! xoxox

Strength training is not as fun as running is to me. Normally when I do it consistently is because my training plan calls for it, or if I’m injured and need to take time off from running.

Even though I love the convenience of running in the morning, I have to say that training during sunset comes more natural to me. I feel like I am more focused, motivated, empowered, and energized (even If I had a stressful day). I see better results when I run later in the day. Running in the mornings takes more effort to me. I wish I love running in the mornings a little bit more. I guess is a matter of practice and creating the habit.

I do have a Mexican farmer’s market near to my boyfriends’s house, and we go there pretty often to get vegetables, cheese, condiments, and fruit popsicles! (love those so much).

My Sunday breakfast was Arepas. Is a Venezuelan dish, basically they are small cakes made out of corn meal, and we stuffed them up with butter, cheese, and lunch meats. So good.

it would be a rare occasion and miracle if I worked out any other time than first thing in the morning. My Saturday was great because it involved brick oven pizza outdoors followed by chocolate cake. :)

Those pre-spiralized veggies are the best! So easy to cook up a tasty and healthy meal with those.

I ended up at a farmer’s market too yesterday. It was my first time to that particular one, so it was fun to check out some new to me vendors.

Jordan actually usually does post a lot on insta, but hasn’t lately for whatever reason.
You must have only been just aware of her recently! But she’s been around for a long time now!

Reply

I just meant she doesn’t usually post daily or something (she has like 500 posts or something)! I wish she posted daily:) I hope you are having an amazing day!

Best part of my Saturday was tow hours of yin yoga! Afterwards, I was whooped but decided I’d feel bed if I went for a short run to get my energy out. I convinced my self that I only needed 15 minutes, and ended up running for 30!

Wonderful day! Our Saturdays always start with swimming. I sometimes find it difficult to train later in the day. I’m stronger and motivated more first thing in the morning but sometimes it’s hard to get out of bed, haha.

I want your eyelashes =)

The best part of my Sunday was hanging out with friends post-run. Sunday breakfast was a delicious pink lemonade smoothie (with protein) immediately after the run. Although that didn’t really stay with me too long, so I ate an omlette a few hours later (two breakfasts for the win!). I absolutely can not make myself do any sort of speed work in the evenings. I enjoy a nice easy run in the evenings every now and then (usually if I need to burn off some stress), but otherwise I am definitely a morning runner!

I love that you and your friends send each other pictures of your food—a girl after my own heart! I still have pictures of food on my phone from vacations years ago that I just can’t bear to delete. ha ha I think I have about 10 photos from different vacations of the yellowtail snapper with citrus beurre blanc sauce/veggies in pasta/corn bread dinner from Blue Heaven in Key West–that is my last meal before I die meal! If you ever go to Key West (which you MUST), order this!!!!!!! :)

Very interesting! Good luck to you for upcoming post and I look forward to reading more about your work in future.
