Time to go into COACHING mode in Idaho and kicked off the bed.

Andrew and I absolutely LOVED your comments yesterday, thank you.  He said he wants to guest post on the blog more often so get excited to have some breaks from me;)

I woke up Friday morning feeling a lot better than I did on Thursday and went for a 2.3 mile run.  Earlier on in the week I decided I was going to do 10 miles on Friday but running after feeling sick is not as fun as it should be plus I hadn’t really eaten much so I just went out to get a little fresh air and to move for a bit.

The Pure Flow’s felt amazing.  I have a feeling I’m really going to become obsessed with these shoes.  For those of you that didn’t love the 5’s, I think the 6’s are going to suck you in again:)

Rewind to first thing in the morning yesterday.  Somehow the kids snuck into our bed and squished Andrew off of the bed.  I didn’t even notice them come into the room (I’m a deep sleeper) but Andrew did ha and he was on the couch.

Brooke then got to rolling out her feet before her weekend in Boise… I’m sure she wants to get plenty of running around in so she spent some preventative time on her feet.

Then in the afternoon we said goodbye to Knox until Wednesday.  It was an amazing 11 days all together and we already can’t wait to see him again.

And then we were off to Idaho (Brooke’s first time there so she was thrilled).  We dropped off Beretta at Andrew’s parent’s house and then got on the road.

When Brooke holds Andrew’s hand she uses both of her hands to do so.  She really loves her ‘Dada’ (what Brooke chose to call Andrew).

After being sick and not eating much besides one yogurt all day, real food tastes even better than usual.  I was so ready to dive into this salad and it tasted better than ever.  Brooke’s Cafe Rio excitement expression below.

And then somewhere along the way we stopped for ice cream.

PS a few minutes into our drive Brooke was telling us about how much she was missing Beretta.  Their relationship is tough as nails.

5.5 hours later and we were there!!  When deciding how to get certified as a running coach I knew I wanted to go through Road Runners Club of America.  They listed all of the places they offer the Level 1 courses around the Untied States and Boise was the closest one to us.   Andrew drove us up and he and Brooke are having a special date weekend together while I get to go learn about running all day (today and tomorrow).

IMG 3512

Andrew made sure to bring both his and Brooke’s bike.  They’ll probably get in some tough mountain biking while we are here;)

And then we made it to the hotel.  I’m pretty sure that Brooke would love for us to move into a hotel if she could.  She’s already talking about the continental breakfast up ahead in her future.

I’ll do a quick run in the morning (very needed when I’ll be sitting all day… although wouldn’t it be great if a group run was part of the curriculum today:) and then it’s note taking time.  PS I’ve wanted to go back to school for the last few years and this kind of feels like I am for a second.  So excited to be learning, studying and taking a test again;)

Sounds like fun! I miss Idaho sometimes. 3 things: work, giant salad for lunch, and a local film festival all evening!

I’ve never run in the Pureflow series at all but I have to say the Pureflow 6 is awesome. I have found it to be the first of the Pure series that is wide enough to fit my feet. Plus, the colors this year are good (which means basically nothing). I will use them for speed workouts.

Have fun in Idaho. That is pretty cool.

I’ve never commented on your blog in the few years I’ve been reading, but I have to since you are in my city!! Hopefully you have time to check out Guru Donuts, Waffle Me Up, or Cinnaholic. Three delicious breakfast places with sweet treats. As for today, I’m running a 10k, taking my 2 year old daughter to the zoo for the Easter egg hunt, and finally going to the BSU spring football game. Hope you enjoy your visit to Boise.

HEATHER!!! Thank you so so much for commenting. We just got back from Cinnaholic (thank you for the recommendation) and oh my goodness, that was incrediblee! Sounds like a wonderful day! Enjoy the rest of your weekend and we are loving it here!

Glad you are feeling better! I was sick with the flu and out of running commission this past week. Got in 3 easy miles this morning, which were tough, but felt so great. Happy to be feeling back to normal and have a healthy appetite again!

Also, I love, love the idea of becoming a running coach! Seems like a perfect fit for you. I’m definitely no expert and not nearly as fast as you, but I’ve toyed with the idea of teaching fitness classes as a side gig as a SAHM, but running is what I excel at. I’m in Canada though, not sure how it might work up here.

3 things: laundry, daughter’s ballet, then taking the kids to an indoor play centre (these places are such a madhouse on the weekends so wish me luck lol).

I’ve never been to Idaho, but sounds like fun!! Have a lovely weekend, Janae!

Love the RRCA training! I hosted last summer in Salt Lake and it was awesome. You’ll love it and Randy is s great instructor!

Reply

No way!! That is amazing… I wish I could have come to the one that you hosted last year! So we actually have Cari and she is great! I guess Randy had another commitment. Seriously LOVING this training! Thanks Angie and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Getting away for a few days is always fun especially when it is doing something you love like learning. My husbands family has a cabin on Lake Pend Oreille near Sandpoint. We love going there, it is so beautiful.

Reply

I also loved hotels as a kid so I totally get Brooke’s excitement.

Oddly, 2.3 was my mileage yesterday as well. I needed to shake out after my morning Pilates class.

Today is spinning, laundry (we are 2 people, why is there so much?), and then we are going to take advantage of the sunshine after a week of rain.

a few of of my clients are from boise, idaho and they are the nicest people i have ever talked to on the planet! i hope everyone you meet there is that nice :)

i adore the pure flow 6s. they are on a whole other level than the pure flow 5s. obsessed! i will use them today to do a 9 or 10 miler with some tempo miles in between. yesterday was a random rest day since i had to be at work early so i’m feeling ready to go!

Have a great trip! Three things I am up to today: some projects for clients, decluttering my house and later a BBQ with friends!

Biking, walking the dog and I think root beer floats might be happening today too!

I’m glad you’re feeling better for your training! That’s so nice that Brooke and Andrew could join you, hope it’s going well!

Today I am cleaning house, we are taking the boys to see the Easter Bunny and then hoping to hit up one of the few other Easter events going on around us. We’ll see if nap time allows that.

Glad you are feeling better for your trip!

I just tried the Pure Flow 6’s this morning too…I really liked them! I will most likely alternate between these and the Launch 4’s..so far they seemed comfortable! Glad you are feeling better, and have fun in Idaho! :)

Welcome to Boise! Sorry the weather is horrible today.

Reply

Thank you!! We are loving it here (said from my hotel room after having the most amazing dinner and dessert tonight). I hope you are having a wonderful weekend Monique!

How cool! Good luck with your classes! I’m relaxing today and making pancakes, haha. Getting into the serious job search so I’ll also spend a bunch of time editing cover letters and scouring the internet for environmental health jobs.. eek.. someone hire me! :)

I live in Idaho! I’m in northern Idaho for college but I grew up in Boise. If you need any dinner recommendations for Boise, I’ve got a few.
3 things to do with my Saturday: Run 9 miles (in the snow, no less. Stupid northern Idaho weather. It’s APRIL) Go to Costco, and get research done for one of my papers.
Good luck with your coaching class!

I know you are so stoked to get certified, let us know how it is, Im looking at the one in Florida later this year. Glad you are feeling better sweetie!!

Congrats on your coaching endeavor! It’s exciting to go back to school. I’ve been an RN for 20 years now and I just decided to go back to school for a Health Promotions degree. I’m scared to death to go back after so long but super excited too! If I’m remembering right, did you teach health classes before? What is your degree in? I need to try the pure flows. Brooks Glycerins are my go-to shoe. I love them! Good luck this weekend!

Reply

HEY MARIE!!! Thank you so so much! 20 years as an RN, that is AWESOME!! I did secondary health education at BYU to teach high school health and I loved it! Good luck and let me know what you end up doing!

Reply

Good luck with your coach’s training. I’m sure you’ll do great. I too miss school and may need to “train” for something soon. I don’t have it in me to go back to school full-time at 55. My husband asked me once, “What’s after a master’s?” I said, “For me, nothing!” I can’t see me going after a PhD, but I would love to take courses of some type.

Also, I start training for the Utah Valley 10K next week. I know you’ve done the longer portions of that race before. Are you running it this year?

Reply

Sorry our weather is so wet today. Hopefully it wont mess things up to bad for you guys. But even in the rain Boise is still a great city to explore.

Reply

Good luck with your training!!! That’s so exciting! You’ll do amazing!

3 things I’m doing today: Short run, office work (Blah…), going on a dinner date tonight!

Have a fabulous Saturday!!

I love Boise so much! Lived there for four years while my hubby went to Boise State. If Andrew and Brooke are looking for things to do make sure they check out Camelsback park ( lots of good trails for mountain biking and running and an awesome hill for kids to run up and playground). Also check out the Kristin Armstrong Municipal park, it has a great free nature center and also connects to the greenbelt path. The Boise Zoo is small but fun and easy to see all in one afternoon. If the weather is bad they can check out Jumptime in downtown Boise and the boise public library has a great kids section (these two places are super close).

Reply

Also, check out Bown’s crossing in southeast Boise. There is a great restaurant where kids can make their own pizza and an adorable candy shop. There is also boise fry company restaurant that is really unique. They have all different varieties of potatoes that you choose from and they make your fries from that variety and then tons of different dipping sauces.

Reply

Lindsey Giles is so right…Bown crossing for the candy store and Boise Fry Company for many different dipping sauces for the fries. Sweet potato fries cut your liking and if your lucky the marshmallow dipping sauce. :)

Reply

AHHH NO!!! I am just seeing this as I’m sitting in the hotel stuffed after dinner. The Boise Fry Company sounds AMAZING!! Maybe I can sneak out for lunch tomorrow or something! Lindsey, that pizza (they make their own pizza?!?) and candy shop sounds amazing! Thanks girls… we are LOVING Boise!

Reply

Hope your coaching class is awesome! Today I did:
1) 5 mile long run (felt awesome!!!)
2) chores (vacuumed, much needed, and some spring cleaning)
3) played 9 holescale of golf with my boyfriend!
Turns out I walked over 18,000 steps already today… my legs are pooped!

Reply

Today was work, easter egg hunt shopping, and not doing my dad’s taxes. You’d think he’d send everything and a littler earlier since I do them for free.
Enjoy your coaching workshop! I hope Brooke and Andrew have a good time.

Reply

Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better! I’ve never been to Idaho. My family was set to move there once (military family) but at the very last second, we got sent to Mississippi instead. 3 things this weekend: Puppy’s first socialization training class (so much fun), BBQing on the patio, and we finally did our taxes! Woo hoo!

Reply

Good luck to you. Wish you all the best of luck in this new venture. We went to an Easter egg hunt, we colored Easter eggs at home and I got a much needed haircut.

Reply

Glad you’re feeling better!

Today was a 5 mile run, my son’s first track meet (he got 1st in the 3000!), and packing for our Easter break vacay!

Reply

I was a wear tester for the Pureflow 6, and have to admit that I really don’t like them! I really don’t like the look/shape of the shoe, and I didn’t think they were as responsive as past models. Bring back the Pureflow 2, Brooks!!
