I wanted to share a small update about how blending is going over here with these pictures of our cute kiddos.  Blending has felt like it fit together so naturally for us but at the same time it has taken some time to get in the swing of things.   With all of the different arrangements, having two other parents to work with has been a major adjustment but it is coming together.

NOTHING comes close to how blessed I feel for being able to be in Knox’s world now and seeing how much Brooke loves her brother and Andrew.  Seeing us all together laughing, playing and cuddling up on the couch is the best thing in my world and I couldn’t ask for anything more.  But with everything in life, there are hard parts.  I think the hardest part of blending would be trying to find my place.  I’m not Knox’s mom (he has an amazing one) but I am his step-mom and finding what that definition means for me and Knox has taken some trial and error.  Figuring out how I am involved in discipline or decisions or where I fit in his heart takes time.   I’ve been discouraged at times and so has Andrew when it comes to finding how to fit in best with all of the different factors that come along with a mixed home and all of the back and forth that comes with these two BUT I just have to remind myself that love is all that matters.  Something that Andrew and I decided is that we are doing special dates each month where I take Knox out and he takes Brooke out.  I think spending time working on our personal relationships with our step-child is what matters, not figuring out where I fit in to it all perfectly.  Just strengthening that relationship one day at a time, spending one-on-one time and loving them with every piece of our hearts is the way to find our place in their world.  I would love to hear any advice from anyone reading that has blended a family!

We shall see how the teenage years go with these two kiddos (I adore this Zara dress from thredUP that I got for Brooke)… she already gives me attitude ha.  Good thing I taught high school for a few years, I know all of the tricks in the book;)
