I’ve been using some workouts from this training plan to train for my next half marathon…  Started with a 7:30 mile and ended with a 6:20 mile:

Screen Shot 2017 01 25 at 8 44 22 PM

I did a 1 mile warm-up instead and I took a 45 second break at mile 7.2 (I need to work on my mental game because I convinced myself that I needed to stop here but at least I got back on and finished it even though I had no desire to ha… and the extra .1 is because it takes the treadmill a little bit of time to speed back up after taking a break).

Andrew asked me to start giving him some workouts to do for his next half marathon in May… he might not really like me some days now;)

This is what he did and he ended with 5 miles.

Whenever we get a chance to workout together we always finish with a game or two of PIG and I would like to proudly announce that I won for once.

IMG 8099

I am so beyond addicted to this stuff it is ridiculous—>  I look forward to putting on a thick layer of lip gloss right after I finish a run (I got this addiction from my sister… it is all her fault).

A bowl of cereal is one of my favorite lunch desserts, and it made it’s appearance today.

I guess I’m going to have to go upstairs to copy you and get a bowl of FMW:) Thanks for the idea:) xoxoxo

Sentence for the day: I hope this tickle in my throat isn’t the start of a cold!

Workout today: 7 miles this morning outside somewhere between an easy run and a tempo! I was pleasantly surprised with how it went and I also ended with a sweatsicle hanging from my hat! I do not appreciate this sub 10 degree weather we’re having right now.

I love so many different chapsticks. I’m a big fan of Eos, even though they’re an annoying shape. I love the Burts Bees Pomegranate and Smiths Minted Rose lip balm!

Favorite hot chocolate –> the kind with espresso in it ;) I had a mocha today for the first time in YEARS and it was heavenly.

Reply

NOOOO I hope you don’t have a cold coming!! WAY TO GO on your awesome run today and hahaha—> sweatsicle. You are amazing for getting out in that weather Annie! So glad you had an amazing espresso today!

Never commented before but just wanted to let you know “I love your blog”!! I am around your mom’s age and just getting into running seriously. Super slow and the farthest I’ve managed to run is 4 miles but I’m working on it. You are so positive and fun and I love all the running stories and tips.

Reply

Melva, I can’t thank you enough for your sweet comment! I am SO excited that you are running and four miles is AWESOME! Keep me updated on how you and your running are doing!

Reply

You are too sweet!

Ok, so I’m a lip gloss/chap-stick junkie. After reading about the VS lip gloss on your blog a few years ago I picked up one (or 4, thank you sales.) OMG, I now have one in every purse, car, jacket, my work desk…etc.. NOTHING else compares, and my various other glosses have been tossed. I’m totally addicted, thanks for the suggestion!

Reply

Angela, this makes me so proud. I am SO SO happy that you love it too… nothing compares. Nothing. We should start a club together on this topic haha! I hope your day has been a great one so far!

I’d soo join that club;) Have a good night!

I’m dealing with a knee issue right now, and in the middle of marathon training…booo :( So, today I did some speed work on the elliptical to avoid impact on my knee. It was fun, and I was really able to push myself! But, I do often feel like I am the only girl/woman in the gym that really gets sweaty! How do they not sweat inside???
Sentence per picture… after all the crazy rain we had here in SoCal over the weekend, it has been a day of cleaning! Our garage flooded, so now I’m washing all the towels we used to clean that mess up… but, it is giving me a sense of a fresh start! :)
I love plain old Swiss Miss hot chocolate. Not fancy, just good!
Enjoy the rest of your Thursday everyone!

Reply

Oh Wendy, I am SO sorry about your knee problems right now. I hope everything gets better ASAP so you can get back to marathon training! If it makes you feel any less alone… I leave the gym completely DRENCHED in sweat. It’s ridiculous. BOOO to your garage flooding but gotta love a fresh start. Thanks Wendy and I hope you have some Swiss Miss soon:)

Today is a strength workout but I did run yesterday.

I love lip balm and lipstick or gloss. (It can’t be sticky or heavy). My favorites are Fresh SPF 15 – they have the best colors and the texture is fine. No funky smell either. I also like Rosebud Salve and a coconut oil lip balm. The coconut oil balm is so light and sinks right in. I use it before bed. I can honestly say I have a lip balm in the bedroom, kitchen, shoulder bag, gym bag, car, and usually a coat pocket.

My sentence for today has been: You’ve got to be kidding me. (it’s been that kind of week).

I don’t like sweet hot chocolate so I make my own. I use raw cacao powder and unsweetened almond milk. Sometimes I add a little coconut sugar sometimes I don’t. I do like a little whipped cream on it. Sometimes I add a little coffee powder or vanilla.

Reply

I am going to have to check out Fresh, Rosebud Salve and coconut oil lip balm… this all sound amazing. I need something like that before bed too!

Nina, I am so so sorry about your rough week. I hope it improves quickly!

Reply

Yessss. I hope you like that hot chocolate. I have been having hot chocolate almost nightly because I am so cold. I have been whining so much this winter. I don’t know why it seems so much worse than previous years, but it has.

Your workout sounds tough. Good job jumping back on and finishing the run! I did 40min of intervals on the stepmill and then a full body weight circuit. When I got off the stepmill the guy next to me said, “I thought I got a decent workout, but watching you sprint on that thing made me feel like a newb. I was impressed” ha! #selfesteemboost #iwilltakewhatIcanget

Reply

Because it is worse than previous years… St. George soon? Please. I will watch Batchelor with you. Okay, you need to remember that compliment… he is RIGHT. You kill it on your workouts. Way to go woman. I miss you and I REALLY NEED to see you please.

Reply

Do you have a goal half picked out and it went right over my head? It sounds like a good workout. I know it was probably warm but shorts and snow :O

Reply

Hey GIRL!! SO I am going to do the Dogtown Half in about a month… I haven’t signed up yet but I am planning on it:) Come run it with me please;) HAHA yeah… I am that weird walking around in shorts when I go to the gym. I get a lot of weird stares if I stop at the store after or something ha!

Super quick 3 miles squeezed between activities this morning. Absolute fave hot chocolate is Curtis Stone’s hot chocolate recipe. A close second is Williams Sonoma Peppermint Hot Chocolate. The key to both is using an immersion blender to combine. Makes all the difference!

Reply

My sentence for today is… I’m flying to Puerto Rico tonight to go on a southern caribbean cruise for the next week!! GOODBYE SNOW! I am addicted to chapstick/lip gloss. It has to be on my lips AT ALL TIMES. You’re not alone :)

Reply

AHHHH COURTNEY!!! Have the best time ever on your cruise and enjoy every second!

Reply

My sentence for today is: Forget about it! haha

Today’s workout was a tempo run. One mile warm up, two at tempo pace and the last one to cool down.

I’m also like to put some chapstick before my runs, carmex is the one that I used the most.

And last but not least, my favorite chocolate is the one from Starbucks. I like just the regular one without the peppermint sauce.

LOVE pig and congrats on winning! Also, amazingly cute coffee tumbler.

#1 I ate a donut
#2 I unclogged possibly the most disgusting toilet in my lifetime. God was good and sent a strong wind through the open window otherwise it would have ended much differently.
#3 I lifted weights but had to cut it short because the kids club closed (napping problems). It’s too windy to run outside.
#4 We need to find a decent donut shop close by. They did not fill up the chocolate bar by a long shot. We are on the hunt.

I have been following your blog for a while now. Love the positivity you always give. I am a cyclist that cross trains with running. The workout you posted that your hubby did today… (For the cyclist wan be runner…:me) could you break that down for me? Is it a break after each interval? Any extra info you could give would be much appreciated.

Reply

HEY TRISH!!! Thank you so much for your sweet comment! I really want to get back into cycling… so much fun (and a killer workout). I am so sorry I didn’t make that more clear! So for Andrew he did 10 minutes for his warm-up at a 6.7 on the treadmill. He then did 2 minutes @ 8.2 (and he bumped up the speed for each one) followed by 2 minutes of running slower (I think around a 6.5) and repeated that 5 times (which took 20 minutes total). Followed by a 10 minute recovery. So the break after the fast portion meant he was still running but at a slower pace. Let me know if you have any other questions! THANK YOU!

I think I’m starting to get some knee problems but I can’t tell if it’s from bad form or the cold outside. What do you call one of those form specialists that can take a look at my stride and determine what’s going on? Do i have to be a professional athlete to see one?

Reply

Congrats on winning PIG!! Haha…hope you can use that as leverage for a very long time….

Total gloss addict here also!! I use Clinique. Never ever ever without it. Even during runs…because you just never know!!!

Today’s 14 miler started warm..in the 50s here in NJ…but things got extremely windy! I was trying to convince myself that it was just resistance training in disguise.

Reply

Ohhhh way to go on fourteen miles in WIND… it definitely makes you a stronger runner and it is something I need to do more often ha! Glad it was in the 50s though:) I love that you take your lip glass with you running, I’m going to copy you! HAHAH thank you, yeah I’m probably going to be rubbing it in his face for a while now! Enjoy your night Caroline!

I love Dr Hauschka Lip Care Stick. More expensive than Chapstick. Very feels great. An indulgence for sure.

Yesterday I did a split long run – I did 4.5 miles in the morning and 8.5 miles in the evening, my legs are like jelly! I have a mental block too sometimes, it normally happens around the 9 mile mark, I decide that I’ve had enough so I really need to learn to break that! When I decide I can’t run anymore, I always try and aim to run for one more song and by the time that’s happened, I’m normally in a better place to carry on :)

I love hot chocolate! My favourite one is options – their white chocolate one is amazing, especially with a few marshmallows on top :)

Reply

man your kitchen is so beautiful! The 4:1 ratio seems pretty darn good to me! Sorry but I actually don’t use lip gloss or chapstick at all… haha I’m not sure how but I don’t like it and never carry it with me or anything…
My favorite hot chocolate is the crappy kind from gas stations!! My favorite gas station hot chocolates are from Wawa and Snappy’s in PA (you guys probably don’t have either out there, haha!)

Have a good day !

Hi Janae! Have you tried LipSense? I LOVE it! Would love to send you one to try out!

Today’s workout will be Week 1, Day 2 of the Couch to 5K program as I build up slowly from my metatarsal stress fractures.

My favorite lip balm was Aquafina, but they discontinued it this year or maybe it was last year. I just started using Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm. It’s a pretty good substitute.

Reply

Chapstick addict here! Have them everywhere so I won’t be without it.
So what is Andrews goal half marathon pace if you don’t me asking so I can compare that workout to what I can do.

Reply

I wear that lipgloss DURING my runs b/c it actually stays on for most long runs! I can’t STAND chapped lips from salty running sweat, haha. During a marathon, I do have to put chapstick in my belt though because that lipgloss doesn’t last THAT long…lol

Hello! I saw the post you did a while back when you were installing your wood flooring and was wondering what you think of it after having it for a few months now. It looks great! Where did you end of purchasing it from? We’re thinking of getting wood floors and need a lighter wood similar to what you did.

Reply

Thank you!! I’ve been dying to know the deets on your lip gloss. It looks so good on you! What shade do you use?
