Double digit day and on the road again.

Isn’t it crazy how a mileage that was considered easy during marathon training feels like a big feat not too much longer after the marathon?  I hit 10 miles (7:53 pace with no stops… I didn’t hit one light, it was great) for the morning but it felt like those ten miles were hard endurance wise towards the end.  A month or two ago ten miles felt like a breeze after the eighteen+ milers each week.

The roller coaster of running.

Either way it was perfect weather and I hit double digits again so I was really happy about that.  PS I don’t know if running vests are the cool thing to wear anymore but I will love them forever.  They keep my core warm while letting my arms move freely and the pockets hold my phone quite nicely.

I hung out outside to catch my breathe again for a few minutes once I finished because I tried to end with two faster miles at the end (7:20, 7:11).  The combo of speeding up and going farther than what my body is used to now worked me.

I also used Andrew’s garmin because I didn’t have anything charged and his Vivoactive is so light you forget you are even wearing a watch.

The scenery for the day was nothing spectacular but the weather and flatness (I really need to do more hills) made up for that.

Turns out the place I sweat the most while running is my elbows;)  Random fact for your Sunday morning.

IMG 1273

Our afternoon activities had us getting dressed up and picking up some donuts.

IMG 1276

My niece got baptized at church and it was a very special day for my family.

IMG 1280

We all went outside afterwards with the donuts to eat and hangout.  Brooke was good at following the donut to the tables.

IMG 1287

She was pretty excited about the donut.

IMG 1285

From there we jumped on the road to drive three hours south to Andrew’s brother’s house because they have a big family event there this weekend and then we will drive home.  I am always happy with the fact that Andrew and I have the same tastebuds and order the same thing at most restaurants.

IMG 1293

Brooke took a nap on the way down and before we knew it she had a whole other group of cousins to hang out with.

The drive went by really fast (Andrew likes driving, I do not so he drives the whole way) and we made it to his brother’s house just in time for pizza and fruit.  BBQ chicken pizza will always win my heart.

IMG 1297

Andrew and I are convinced that Brooke will be a vet someday.  Her first stop if there are animals there is right to them.

IMG 1302

We played some games… Telestrations is one of my favorites.  Oh and card games always remind me of my mom because for awhile we would play phase 10 or Skipbo every single day together after school.

IMG 1303

Brooke was in heaven with so many people around.  I lucked out with an awesome group of in-laws.

I think if someone put a donut in front of me like that, I’d probably follow it too! It’s so dry in Arizona that when you do sweat, it evaporates leaving this weird stickiness on your body.

I like the look of the vivoactive. I had been thinking about getting an Apple Watch to run with but I’m still not sure… I still really love my garmin!

Congratulations on your nieces baptism!! I can’t believe how grown up she is getting, I’ve been reading your blog since she was just a little peanut. I love your sisters dress, do you happen to know where she bought it?

Enjoy the rest of your weekend janae !!

Okay, I think those are adorable. I might have to get them!

I’m sort of a sweater yeah. My face and shirt always look like I did twice the workout that I really did. My friend, the non sweater, looks like a beauty queen that just left the salon went she’s done. I love to hate her ! I use a Garmin Forerunner 15. It’s the first one I’ve ever had, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I love it. My highlight is hanging out with the girls which I haven’t done in a couple of years ! Way overdue, it’s going to include a mean game of Wallyball, pizza and a bonfire. Hope you have a great rest of your weekend.

We love skipbo too. We play a lot of board games

I sweat a lot when I run during Summer here in South Florida. Now that the fall is here, I feel like I sweat more like a normal person lol now.

I do sweat a lot when I run, and it’s a little annoying. But, I guess that’s how my body tells me I’m working hard, ha!
I just started running with a TomTom (I was a garmin forerunner user for years) this summer, and I am really liking it! It’s really light weight and easy to use! Plus it comes in really fun color combos. I have the white/turquoise/black one :)
Later this evening, our good friends and their kids are coming over to watch Sunday Night Football! We’re a Broncos family, they’re a Raiders family, so it will be tons of fun!
Now off for a medium mileage run with my hubby <3

Have a great Sunday!

Most of the time I sweat like crazy because it’s so hot + humid here. The last couple of weeks it’s been cooler and less humid (75-80 degrees, 50-60% humidity) and sometimes I finish a run without feeling sweaty at all. It’s so bizarre to me since this hardly ever happens!

I had the Vivoactive for a long time but I just switched to the Forerunner 235 for the built in heart rate monitor :). The vivoactive is super light weight and I loved the touchscreen part!

I am a HUGE fan of running vests as well!!

Do I sweat a lot?…..Yes, and in very weird places that I definitely am self conscious about! I need to buy more black shorts..haha
The watch I use is garmin forerunner 220. I really like it but I am also very open to other suggestions. Thanks!

I have lots of fun memories playing Skipbo with friends as a teen. Haha, we all had slightly different rules that we played by so before we even started we had to negotiate the rules so everyone was happy.

I’m thinking of getting a Fitbit Charge 2 in a few weeks. I like that it’s on the smaller side but still has a lot of info, including heart rate.

What a special day for Curly. All special days, and non special days, should be celebrated with donuts. Amirite?

Enjoy St Geezy and the warmth it has to offer. Candice is down there too!

I’m definitely a sweaty betty when I run!

My elbows will DRIP sweat! It’s so funny because I’ll be moving along and then randomly feel the tickle of the drips running down my arms… so weird.

I loved playing any kind of card game as a kid. My whole family would get together and play massive games of Uno or various Solitaire games. Always so fun!

My favorite game to play with my family and fiancé is Scattegories! I love it because it’s a workout for your brain and it’s super fun!

Yesterday after my run I had a weird sweat mark in the middle of my stomach but more on the right side. I’m glad I’m not the only one who sweats in strange places!

I wear a Suunto Ambit2 watch – I’ve had it for 3 1/2 year and still love it so much!

I am super non-competitive so I usually sit out games (my husband and his family get very animated and when you are on their team you better be ready to win at all costs!) I prefer to make the popcorn :)

Sunday – loved the extra hour this morning so I got in a 14 mile bike ride, next up church, then lunch and a nap. Perfect day in my opinion.

I also find it crazy that I was running 20-milers back in September and this morning 8-miler felt like a long run! With Cystic Fibrosis, I sweat a ton and lose at least 5 times more salt than other runners. During marathon training, I usually come back looking like a salt statue ha Probably explains why I am addicted to popcorn (and pretty much all salty snacks) ;-)

My laptop was at an angle and it totally looked like Andrew had some crazy hair blowing in the wind (in the pic w/ the donuts). Then I realized it was just the tree behind him :)

Reply

Lol I saw that too. I thought Andrew had some crazy hair going on.

Reply

BAHAHA I didn’t notice that until I read your comment! Awesome!

Reply

Awesome job on your run!!! I ran a 5k with bae and his clan and it was a good rust buster post injury! Also, love your dress!

Brooke looks happy with that donut!

Do I sweat a lot? My goodness. I have to return my new Fitbit surge because I sweat through its “water resistant” watch face. I can’t count the number of shorted out earphones that were “sweat proof” and unsuspecting people from a distance have asked if I showered. Nope just finished a workout.
My favorite part of Sunday (today) is after coming home early from church watching Paddington. I hope your Sunday is great!

Reply

My elbows sweat the most too…I thought I was the only one!

Reply

You are not alone!!! Elbow sweaters unite:)

I absolutely sweat like crazy when I run. I need to find something that will keep the sweat out of my eyes but doesn’t look dorky. Ideas appreciated.

On Sundays I climb, so that’s always the highlight for me. Today I tried bouldering for the first time ever, and it was awesome!

Reply

I sweat so much I have been asked if I dumped water on myself or ran through a sprinkler.

I cheered on friends at the marathon.

Reply

Oh I hope you had a blast cheering them on at the marathon:) Enjoy your week Nina!

I use my fitbit. I usually just use it for distance tracking. I find HR pretty accurate and I can wear it for all day tracking. After long runs my midsection is usually the most sweaty for some reason lol.

Reply

I sweat a ton. Completely soaked when I’m done. I use the Fitbit Surge. It works great for me. Got a 4.25 mile run in this morning before church. Hope your Sunday is going well.

Highlight of my weekend was getting in my run today right after waking up (during my free hour from daylight savings). 3.5 miles. I wasn’t trying to go fast but went lots faster than I ran all summer. I love cool weather running!

Reply

I sweat a lot in general. So I am just DRIPPING when I am out for a run. Make me feel hardcore.

Reply

Yep. Sweat everywhere.
Polar M400 girl here!
The highlight of my day? Hustle and dough! 8 miles with 4 donut stops along the way all while running in a sparkly donut skirt ?

Reply

I get the exact same elbow-sweat marks! I always forget until after my run when I straighten my arms. That’s the only place that shows up in chilly weather.

The highlight of my Sunday was getting to hunker down at home with my fella and little dude. Perfect.

Reply

I totally thought I was the only one who sweat in my elbow pit!
I have the Garmin 235 w/wrist HR – I LOVE it. It makes training a breeze, especially speed work. I need something telling me what to do and when. I get a little kick out of creating workouts myself and seeing how they go.
The pic of Andrew in the tie standing in front of the tree makes it look like he has a big afro!

Reply

I sweat at my elbows too! Glad I’m not the only one. I run with the Nike+ run app, I love that it tracks my pace and it was pause and re-start all on it’s own if it sense I’ve stopped moving. I don’t have to push a button when I wait for traffic! My Sunday was filled with football! Hope you guys enjoyed your visit with Andrew’s family!

Reply

I’m an elbow pit sweater too! I’ve often wondered if I put deodorant there if it would help or not. HA!

I got the Garmin fenix 3 in white/rose gold about 6mo ago. It’s huge but I LOVE it! It tracks so much more than swim/bike/run. Plus it’s waterproof! The only negative about this watch is the white/rose gold version doesn’t come with a built in HRM that most Garmins seem to have now.

Reply

I have a vivoactive and LOVE it!

Reply

Oh my gosh, I sweat so much when I run. It is crazy! Love all the pics!! Brooke is soo cute!

Reply

I sweat in my elbow pit, too …haha… guess it’s not so uncommon. Also, arm pits and around the chest area (although I am not entirely sure if this isnt’sweat dripping down from my head.

did you go running on a sunday??

“Isn’t it crazy how a mileage that was considered easy during marathon training feels like a big feat not too much longer after the marathon?” — YES!! OMG YES!! I’ll be struggling with a short 3 mile run and think to myself “how did I ever run a marathon?”

I wanted to be a vet when I was a kid! But then I realised i’d have to cut open animals and I think I genuinely cried when I figured that one out!!
