no miles today. but i’m about to bake an apple crisp with apples i picked this weekend :)

Reply

OKAY… apple crisp with the apples that you picked. I’ll be over in 10 with some vanilla bean ice cream;)

I just finished reading your posts about the St. George Marathon and I got to say that I almost cried reading them. I’m so happy for your results after all that hard training. My Dad (who’s a marathoner) said that your finishing time was exceptional. And I really wish I can find a husband like Andrew. That is serious unconditional love, for real.

For my favorite snack, I’m currently loving the power crunch bars. They have a high protein content. However, they don’t have that whey protein taste that sometimes I end up disliking (like quest bars). They’re also crunchy and delicious. I seriously can’t believe I’m eating something

Reply

Oh thank you so much Nathaly!!! You really are so sweet:) You will find somebody amazing!!! Yes, I can’t stand the protein taste so I will have to check out power crunch bars. THANK YOU!

Reply

You just ran a marathon and you’re already able to go on the stair master!?!?? I would cry any time that I would even SEE stairs for the week after a full (and I’m a full hour slower than you lol!)! You’re made of steel girl!

Also- I think I need a brother like yours. Those veggies look AMAZING!

Reply

I lasted 20 minutes:) For some reason I wasn’t very sore but believe me, past marathons I didn’t do anything besides yoga for a long time! Hope you are having a fabulous week!

Reply

What’s your favorite salad combo? I love scrambled eggs. Might have to throw them in my salad sometime

Reply

Try them in a salad:) My favorite toppings include avocado, grilled chicken, peppers and feta cheese! Those are musts for me and all of the other stuff is just extras ha! Hope you are having a great night!

Reply

I love hard boiled eggs and salmon on salad. I did 5.17 miles of speed work today.

I love Andrew’s shoes! My husband needs those.

Reply

GREAT JOB on your speed work today!!! Oh I love both of those toppings so so much! He got those at Zumiez.

Your posts make me so happy. I’m so glad you’re back to two-a-day but respect that you want extra time with your family, too! Watching you guys blend your family so well is amazing! I love that you both shower the kids with love equally. I came from a blended home, but it was broken so I always have such a special place in my heart for step-parents with huge hearts! You have blessed so many lives and God will continue to bless you and your family!

Reply

Thank you so much Marie… that means a lot to me. Loving this family to pieces is the most important thing on the planet for me. I’m so sorry that your blended home wasn’t the best experience. Any tips you have for me… please share!!! Thank you and hope you are doing well!!

You don’t need advice from me, you’re doing an amazing job already! If anything, I’ve picked up a lot from you and your family regarding being compassionate and positive! As long as your kids are happy, which they are, I think you’re doing great! I forgot to mention that’s an unbelievable garden your brother has!

Reply

That garden is amazing. And in 6th grade, be kind. And if people are not kind in 6th grade, ignore them.

Reply

Best advice for any age right? Thanks Ali and I will be sharing this with my niece!!!! I hope you are having a great day!!!

Reply

I am so envious of that haul from your brother’s garden. That is my dream (as I live in an apartment with no access to growing anything).

That smile on your sister’s son is priceless!

Reply

I’m envious of your brother’s garden! We have one in our backyard, but it’s not very big. You better believe though that we made use of every square inch of it. This summer we grew tomatoes, zucchinis, carrots, peas, and potatoes.

Reply

Everything about this post is making me smile!!!

And if your brother finds someone creepin’ in his garden…tell him no need to call the police…its just me. Wow wow wow. That is impressive ~ enjoy!!!

8 miles today…which was the best thing that happened. Besides yoga class.

snacks I’m loving…grapes, pb & honey, and I should say ice cream…but I eat so much of it I don’t think I can call it a snack.

Reply

Congratulations on your marathon Janae! You rocked it!!

Favorite snacks? Almond butter (by the spoonful!), cottage cheese, pretzels, any fruit, and carrots + hummus.

Reply

I’ve never had scrambled eggs in salad! Now I’m intrigued!

Reply

3 miles today…longest run of the week. Marathon on Sunday!!
Best thing that happened today? Being chosen as a Ragnar ambassador!!
Favorite snack: Greek yogurt with a drizzle of honey and almond butter or Lara bars.
Loved reading about your amazing marathon experience over the weekend. I’m going for negative splits as well!

Reply

AHHHH GOOD LUCK ON SUNDAY CARLA!! You’ve got this!!! Please let me know how it goes, I am so excited for you!!!

Reply

Just got back a few minutes ago from a 3 mile run. Down to short distances as I approach the marathon. :) My friend came to visit me yesterday & today, and today we took our dogs to a local lake where they went swimming–that was definitely the highlight of the day. :) My favorite snacks are fruit snacks and bananas. Lately I’ve been eating a lot of pumpkin bread because I made two loaves on Sunday.

Reply

Favorite snack ~ always ice cream and I would have it daily if it wouldn’t stick to my thighs so much. ha!

What I wish I would have known in 6th grade….that right here and now (6th grade) really is the easiest time of your life!!! Enjoy it and don’t sweat any part of it!!

Reply

OMG that picture of your brother’s garden bounty…LOVE! super jealous.

no miles…spinning then kettle bells. fave snack…honestly, anything w/ sugar ;) or popcorn. knew in 6th grade…be nice to everyone, and mean people will get it back in karma. (or i like to think so now ;) )

Reply

oh my gosh, look at all those veggies! those are all from one garden? your brother can feed the whole town! :D

Reply

Hold up-that picture of the garden bounty?! My goodness, that makes me so envious/hungry/inspired to garden.

Your niece is adorbs asking questions. who can resist?!
Yes, ran the hill workout with the High School Cross Country team I coach. They loved having me run beside them keeping them in good form and not crumbling. I’m just sure they loved it.

Best thing that happened to me today was my coffee tasted extra delicious AND golden oreos were on sale for $1.01 at the american store. Woohoo!!

In 6th grade I wish I had known that it’s okay to be yourself and not try to be over cool. I feel like 6th grade is so “judgey”

Favorite snacks-anything involving mini chocolate chips, cashews/peanuts, love goldfish or even oyster crackers (I mix oyster crackers and mini chocolate chips in a bowl. Try it.)

Auf Wiedersehen Janae’s Niece!!!!

Reply

No miles, been sick with a terrible sinus headcold thing. Supposed to be the beginning of my peak of marathon training! Ugh!

Favorite snack = multigrain toast with maple almond butter and sliced strawberries. Delicious!!!

Reply

GET BETTER SOON JESS!!! I really hope you get back to training and feeling like yourself ASAP! I need your favorite snack in my life asap!

Reply

The greatest thing that happened to me today — I got to sleep in and have lunch with my favorite!! :D

In sixth grade, I wish I would’ve known just how capable I am! I have had a struggle with this for a majority of my life and wish that little girl would’ve heard it from someone she trusted.

Favorite snacks — dried seaweed & rice, roasted file fish, popcorn, any kind of chewy/gummy candy, & chocolates!

Reply

Tuesday was a rest day but I’m about to bust out 4.5 miles (training!) this Wednesday morning…just waiting for the sun to come out a little more, too nervous to run in the darkness! (why does it still have to be dark at 6am!? waaahhh)

6th grade was hard for me…as most of middle school was because I was overweight and sometimes made fun of. Looking back I wish I could go back to my 12 year old self and tell her “you’re going to be okay. you’re going to figure this sh!t out. You’re going to lose the weight and be healthy”.

Favorite snacks right now are apples and skinny pop popcorn!

Reply

favorite go to snacks are Picky Bars (especially the Cookie doughpness) and bananas w/pb. can’t top those!

Reply

Favorite snack: trail mix. But I try not to buy it or make it too often because it’s like crack and I can’t stop eating it ;) Looks like you’re having a lovely post-marathon week.

Reply

Favorite snack as of right now – pretzels with TJ’s cookie butter! So, so good!

No miles for me today … It’s taper week so I’ll be hitting the pool this morning!

Reply

I’m pretty sure that is an entire farm… not just a garden! Lol! That is a very impressive haul!

Oh… sixth grade. My mom died a week before 6th grade started and it was the worst year of my life. I would say I wish I would have known that it got better. Eventually.

Reply

I read your comment and it touched me…,…………then I tried to get back to work but had to come back and comment…………..I’m sorry your mom died when you were at a tender age.

Reply

You’re very sweet, thank you. Everyone goes through hard times – and most are far worse than what I’ve had to go through. I’ve had a very lucky life and loving family (and step-family!). I really appreciate your comment, though. <3

Reply

Oh Monica. My heart is broken for what you and your family went through when you were so young. I can’t even imagine. Hugs and prayers coming your way.

Reply

Thank you. It was so long ago (26 years!). Hopefully I got my hard moment out of the way that young and it is smooth sailing forevermore! :) I appreciate your comment, though. <3

Sadly, I ran no miles today.
The greatest thing to happen to me was snuggling my sleepy baby before going to work.
Favorite snacks: peanut butter and caramel apple rice cakes, Smartfood white cheddar popcorn, mini cupcakes.

Oh my gosh! I can’t believe your brother’s garden. How does he have time to do anything else? I hope he shares with you.

Reply

RIGHT?!?! And he is a emergency doctor and he has 5 kids… I do not know how he does it all. He lives a few hours away so we might have to drive up to him to get some of his deliciousness.
SO glad you got in some great snuggling before work. Nothing better than baby snuggles.

Reply

The food from your brother’s garden is UNREAL! Holy!

Reply

I would have told myself at 6th grade to just go after it. Don’t worry so much about what other people think and don’t make your decisions based off of fear. That everyone has their own struggles and insecurities that other people don’t see. Try to let things go and not worry so much about the little things in life. :)

Reply

Oh I love this Amber. Seriously love this. Something I need to remind myself now (at 30) to do. I’ll be sharing this with my niece. THANK YOU!

Reply

apple or two with almond butter or peanut butter… doesn’t get better than that!

Reply

It really doesn’t… I completely agree with you. And now I need an apple with almond butter haha!

Reply

That is quite the haul from the garden! Your food pics always make me want to do better about buying and prepping good food. I live alone and it’s just so much easier to make something quick and/or grab something quick!

Reply

OH JILL… I was the exact same way when I was on my own. Except I pretty much ate out every single meal or just ate super simple foods at home. It is so much easier that way, do what is best for you and the circumstance you are in right now!!! XOXO

Reply

This post made me smile! Your nephews are so cute, i need to watch that “Happy” video every morning!

And yes! You and your niece look so much alike (along with your sis and your mom too). Beauties, especially from the inside.

When I was in 6th grade, I wish I had known that bodies come in all shapes and sizes and that there is no one “perfect” body. In a way, every body perfect and our bodies can do amazing things. Also, to believe in yourself! Your niece is lucky to have some awesome, smart, strong female role models!!

Reply

sooooooooooo many colorful fresh veggies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that’s amazing!

I know you run on treadmills a lot- do you ever get knee pains from running on the treadmill? Either mine is cursed or I just have bad luck (and I never had any problems before- like 2 years ago) but running on the treadmill really makes my right knee hurt. Like really really bad….. but if I run outside, I’m okay. (well after it heals).
Just wondering why it’s doing this to me. It’s so devastating because as a mom, sometimes, you need to go for a run but can’t because you cannot leave the kids at home solo. hmmmm
