That Ben & Jerry’s book and ice cream maker is the best gift ever!

I have about 10 books saved for our beach vacation in four weeks! Right now I am rereading the Outlander series- I love it!

We walk our dogs a lot! They will not “go” in our backyard, so we walk them five times a day. One long walk, one medium walk and three “business” walks. They are almost 2 years old and 9 months, so still young and crazy!

No running today, but a 50 minute strength workout.

Sentence for today: It is so hot and humid in VA that I am melting; must eat ice cream!

I just started back working from home again so Duncan gets 3-4 walks daily. It’s currently 90 degrees so our afternoon walks are 10 minutes but we try for 20-40 min in the early morning and late evening.

I walked a ton today without the dog. Trying to get 12k steps on a rest day from running. Lol.

I am currently reading The Hospital Always Wins by Issa Ibrahim.
I have two golden doodles and I walk them every morning for 60-75 minutes. They are amazing no matter how hot it is they are ready to go. Right now we leave the house as it just barely begins to get light because it is so darn hot. Then they eat breakfast while I get ready for work. They come to work most days ( the clients LOVE them) and they swim like fish in the evenings. Pretty good life!

I’ve loved making homemade ice cream lately as well. I have a pistachio mix that has been so good. I’m not reading anything right now but I’ve been searching for a few new books.

I have that Ben & Jerry’s Book and it’s AMAZING!!! The chocolate recipes are my favorite– I usually make them with egg-free cookie dough!

Reply

Oh that sounds soooo good!!! Good to know about the chocolate recipes! Thanks!!!

I started the Erin Stern weight lifting program. Running later tonight/or maybe early tmrw. I borrow a dog a few times a week to walk.

Reply

Sentence: “I am looking forward to playing soccer tonight.”

Run: Hopefully it goes well…running around the soccer field!! :) Typically, that gives me 4-5 miles (this will be my only “run” for the day).

I don’t know how you run 7 miles on a treadmill. The most I’ve ever done was three and I get SO bored! I’d love a post on how you keep your mind occupied! Right now I’m reading Ready Player One! I just finished Lady Chatterly’s Lover and The Handmaid’s Tale!

That salad looks good, no Cafe Rio here though.

Still cross-training and waiting for the plantar fasciitis to calm down. 45 minutes on the spin bike doing the strength program.

i like to walk my dog twice a day but it’s been too hot. She never loved the heat, she’s black with wiry fur, but at 13 she has even less tolerance. So we go early or late and she tours the back yard a few times a day.

I’m reading Grit right now. I realize I’m gritty about some things and not others. So with this grit, I WILL run the NYC marathon – dang it.

Our English cream golden retriever, Zeus, runs with me almost always. I have to watch his feet (hot pavement in summer and salt/ice in winter). But if not hindered by heat or delicate feet, he never stops. We ran 7 miles to the dog park and then he played for an hour. His record is a 12 mile run. If he sees any running gear appear, he starts doing verticals. Our 8 yr old will tootle around the block with me if it isn’t too hot. After too long she gives me the “Srrrrsly?” face and sits down.

That was literally the best book/most life changing book I have ever read!!!!! Im going to have to re-read it soon. Enjoy it!!

Oh good to hear! THANKS MOLLIE and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day!

I’m re-reading the tennis shoes among the nephites books right now. With our crazy schedule lately I needed an easy read and that’s one I’ve always liked.

Also with our crazy schedule I could use some ice cream or cafe rio! They both look amazing.

I legit just scrolled my mouse over the picture of all the bloggers thinking their names would show up. Which proves I need an IG fast…or more sleep….probably both.

We just read that book in my book club a couple months ago! So tragic, but so very inspirational and perspective-changing at the same time. Currently we’re reading A Room of One’s Own by Virginia Woolf. So far so good.
My run went great this morning! I had a running buddy for the first time in a while, it’s always so much better when you’ve got a friend.

Brooke looks so happy with the dog!

I’m reading Sarum by Edward Rutherfurd. It’s historical fiction about the city of Salisbury in England. I love all his books.

Cafe Rio! One day I will get there!

today’s run was a slow nice paced 7.67 mile run for me.
My legs were definitely still tired from yesterday’s run and the day before’s strength training.
we don’t have a dog (yet)! my oldest daughter is infatuated with dogs- she studies her dog encyclopedia non-stop but she’s allergic to them :(

Reading?….. Does consumer’s report count? With 428,000 miles on my tahoe, I am researching vehicles…. I know the day is coming that i will have to break down and buy a vehicle…. UGH!!!! Need to go to a car for money savings on gas, but not sure what to get!

That is a GREAT book! You will love it. I am reading Liane Moriarity’s new book Truly Madly Guilty… good so far!

We have two dogs and they are my favorite running partners. They’re excellent for speed work! Between my husband and I they get out for a run on the road with me or on our property with him at least once a day. Road running is a little shorter this time of year – it’s crazy how fast they overheat! They are three and five, thankfully we have lots of miles and lots of years ahead of us.

You’ll have to keep us updated on the book. Looks excellent!

Ahh! You and your growing family are wonderful!
A sentence to describe my day: Peanut butter is food for the soul. . . when a girl is on her period. LOL
Have a wonderful, blessed day!

I was at a teacher workshop today, and the presenter used Flora and the Flamingo. It’s a wordless picture book. Flora reminds me of Brooke. Since you were asking about reading… I thought I would suggest something for Brooke.

Reply

THANK YOU ANGI for letting me know about Flora and the Flamingo. I will be getting it for Brooke:) I can’t wait!

I’m reading the Art of Happiness, its written as kind of a conversation with the Dalai lama !

My run this morning was pretty rough :/

What is your sentence of the day??
Be the change you want to see in the world

What are you reading now?
The 5 Love Languages of Children

People with dogs… how often do you go on a walk with your pup/pups?
When I was working from home, every day! Technically I would take them for runs, not walks, during the week, but it accomplished the same. Now that I am in a 9 to 5 job, usually weekends only (and then technically hikes in the mountain).

How’d your run feel today?
Missed it yesterday :( I had to leave work early yesterday for a puppet show at my son’s school, so no time for a run break. But today I’ll make up for it. Just 4 hours and counting :)

My sentence of the day is, embrace your inner warrior and the amazing complex woman you are! Sometimes I’m so hard on myself for all the different thoughts I have with ups & downs but have been reading some great books about the natural cycles of being a woman.

I love your dog and everyone looks do happy especially Brooke – her little heart would be so settled now your very happy. Enjoy it’s really lovely xx

I try to go on 2-3 runs with my dog per week in the summer. We have a big yard so she can run around during the day when she wants but she’s a good little distance runner dog. However, I’m starting to up my pace and mileage so some days I have to go without her or drop her off after a few miles. She’s usually good for 4-6 miles. She loves running and getting out on the trail…but she’s terrible around other dogs. I will avoid other dogs at all costs, diving into the woods, or backtracking until we can get on a different route.

And I totally get the kids on the back while stretching/working out…except mine involve 5 cats and 2 dogs instead ;)

Good book choice. If you like nonfiction, I recommend anything by Malcolm Gladwell when you finish or the book “Sapiens” –the author’s last name is Harari. Fiction is so fun to read in the summer, too. Have you ever tried making your own ice cream or recreating the rio salad at home? It always looks so good and we have none around here!

Reply

THANK YOU Kelly for the recommendation.. I will have to read Sapiens next:) I haven’t tried to make it at home yet! There are about 5 Cafe Rios super close to us ha but I’ve heard the online copycat versions are really good!

That is my most favorite-ist book ever! I received it in high school as part of a class and it has been a huge influence in my life ever since. I hope you enjoy!

Reply

You’re gonna have to use that ice cream book and post so many pictures.

Run for the day was 8 miles on the treadmill … Tons of speed play … And it felt good to push myself! I also came home later in the afternoon and did a bunch of lunges, squats, planks which I RARELY do.

I try to take my dog for a walk everyday. She has dark fur and the summer months are killer for her so sometimes we just hang out indoors and invite my friends (who also have dogs) over to our place!

I just read this book! It’s a heavy read (especially the first part), but also HIGHLY fascinating how the human psyche operates! Can’t wait to hear what you think!!

Reply

At first I thought your caption said that you were getting a second lunch. That is a semi-frequent occurrence for me. :) I am reading a Gretchen Rubin book right now called Happiness at Home. It’s good! We have a dog and try to walk her everyday. We have a fenced in backyard, so even if we don’t walk her, she gets some running time, but I know she likes going on our little family excursions. :)

Reply

Currently reading “The Good Girl” and going to read “We Were Liars” after that! We have a small 13lb. dog so we don’t do walks too often, we play in the yard. BUT we may start fostering labs so we’ll have to get in some walks for sure!

Run was pretty good yesterday, did 4 miles at 630am. I had to mentally push myself through it because I wanted to be done at 3miles. But I told myself that come race day, I won’t have the option to cut the race short (well I could, haha), so I shouldn’t cut my training runs short either.

Reply

I am horrible about consistency with walking my dog, when i run outside she goes with me for all or part of the run but that can range anywhere from 1-4 times a week. If i have been slacking on her excercise duties i try and take her to the dog park so she can run around and socialize.

That recipe book is LEGIT!!

Great stuff.
