Benefits of marrying a runner and a HUGE giveaway from LG Electronics!!!

ONE LUCKY READER WILL WIN A FREE LG SideKick™!!! Do not miss out on this giveaway at the end of this post!

——————————————————

As you know, things are changing big time around here these days!  It has just been me and the Brookers for years and now we are doubling in size.

I feel ridiculously lucky to have found Andrew (well, Nolan found him for me) and that we get to start building a life together.

With many running adventures together too.

Picture from us together on the bus at 4:30 a.m. on the way to a race:

I think over the decades together ahead of us whether it is a random Thursday night, a trip somewhere awesome or an early morning treadmill session… running will always be something that Andrew and I enjoy doing together.  I tell him all of the time that all I need for a date is a run together (followed by some sort of treat of course).  It is something we will always have that we can do anywhere and conversations during a run always seem to be that much more meaningful to me.

I’ve been thinking about some of the many benefits/funny things/consequences/randomness that comes along with marrying a runner and I wanted to share them:

*Couples that carb load together, stay together.  That’s a thing right?  Well, it will sure be nice to have someone that will want to carb load with me the night before a race or long run and to have someone to cheers with some chocolate milk afterwards.

*He is more than okay with my runner’s feet and understands miles trump pretty toes any day;)

*We can show each other our love by doing things like making a nice ice bath for our spouse after they have a hard run or schedule an appointment for the other to get scraped/graston/sports massage… you know, romantic things like that.

*We will both be more than okay going to bed early on weekend nights so we can wake up early to run:)

*Foam rolling while watching a running documentary together, just normal married people activities.

*He is 100% on board with a chunk of the budget going towards all things running—>  race registrations, running shoes, all of the tanks, blister-proof socks, garmins etc.

*We will probably plan our trips around races and cool running spots every now and then.

*If one of us is injured than the other will be able to empathize and we will most definitely understand all of the weird terms that only runners understand—>  PR, DNF, fartlek, tempo, BQ, plantar fasciitis and the list goes on and on.

and lastly:

*The running clothes laundry that I will be doing is about to double in size.

I laughed so hard at this because it is SOOOOO true:

To help us out with all of the many loads of running socks, sports bras, running shoes, tech t-shirts, compression socks, headbands (I wash my running headbands after every run because they get gross fast), spandex and tanks——>  Andrew and I made our first very important purchase together.  We bought an LG Front-Load Washer and Dryer and as you can tell I am really excited about it.

IMG 0630

Andrew is thrilled about it too because doing the laundry is his absolute least favorite chore.  He does not like it one bit.  I weirdly enjoy doing laundry/ironing/folding so I’ll be in charge of all of the laundry at our house and he will be in charge of the chores that I can’t stand doing (aka all of the yard work and bathrooms:).  It works out perfectly.

To add to my excitement, today I will be getting the LG SideKick delivered.  I’ll be waiting patiently by the front door for it to arrive (and today you get the chance to win one of these too)!

Screen Shot 2016 06 28 at 4 35 13 PM

The LG SideKick pedestal washer enhances your laundry routine big time and I’m so ready for that.  It goes directly below your LG front-load washer and it is an ADDITIONAL washing machine!  It is perfect for all of us workoutaholics because you can put your normal loads into the front-loader and then put your active wear and custom care pieces in the LG SideKick!  This can help us all to keep our expensive workout pieces/nice sports bras etc protected!

The LG SideKick and LG front-load washer can work together at the same time or independently—>  this means you can do one load of cold and one load of hot water at the same time.  Or one load of colors and one load of whites at the same time too:)  I also can’t wait to just use the LG SideKick by itself for my three pairs of running shorts that are my absolute favorites… I pretty much rotate through those three pairs and so I can put them in the LG SideKick for a quick wash in between my weekly laundry routine.  Washing won’t feel wasteful when I just need to do a small load or just a few pieces in the LG SideKick.  It also offers six different cycles like an active wear cycle!

I have a feeling that I will be spending a lot of time with my new toys… between the four of us now and any future kiddos—>  that is a lot of laundry to do (especially running clothes because I’m sure Knox and Brooke will want to be runners too;)

During the week, about half our laundry is workout clothes! We both HATE folding, so our pile of clean laundry tends to build up for a few days before we actually put it away…oops!

Reply

What is your least favorite and favorite chore to do around the house? How do you split up the chores with the people in your household?
Sweeping is my least fave- so I have a dyson vacuum and don’t sweep. lol My oldest loads the dishwasher. Each child cleans their own bathrooms/bedrooms/ and does their own laundry.

How do you handle chores with kids at your house? They take care of their own laundry and rooms. They also clean their own bathrooms. My oldest does the dishwasher and wipes the table/counters. My oldest and middle take turns doing the floors. They all take care of the dog.

What percentage of your laundry are running clothes? I don’t run, but my workout gear is 60%

What are the benefits of dating/being married to/being best friends with/having family members be a runner? I am not married to someone who works out. Thankfully I have a great group of peeps at my gym that I work out with.

Reply

And I would love to own a side kick b/c it would be great for those days I have just a few things that I NEED washed for the next day.

Reply

Laundry is definitely my favorite chore – I actually have house cleaners come biweekly because I hate mopping so much! Since I’m injured my running clothes laundry is a tiny load, I wear scrub tops and REI pants to work, so they get washed the most. I wish my husband ran, I’m so jealous!

Reply

I love the idea of a smaller washer under the full size one,. My small loads don’t seem to wash as well in the full size washer.

Reply

I LOVE that washer!!! What a brilliant idea to have two washing machines in one!

Reply

I’m in the process of buying my first home! This LG SideKick would be perfect!! I already know how I would design the laundry room. Thank you for the opportunity!

Reply

Would love a new set for all the workout and other laundry we currently do in very old machines!

Reply

My hubby and I ran about 16 marathons together until a running injury sidelined him and now he bikes instead. I miss having him run along side of me, but I love the surprise when he bikes up behind me or I see him coming toward me on the trail as I’m heading out!

Reply

We need one of these LG sidekicks! I don’t know how many times we just needed to wash one or tow things, not a whole load. Dog leashes, workout clothes, military uniforms…. All of these things that we need washed ASAP but don’t have enough for a full load.

Reply

I would LOVE the LG sidekick mostly because there are many times where I only need a few things washed and don’t have enough to make a whole load of laundry. I have tons of sports bras, gym clothes, swimsuits, etc that need to be washed ASAP that can’t wait till a full load is ready because they will have the funk pretty soon. I need an LG sidekick!

Reply

More laundry done at one time might make me the happiest mom!

Reply

I have 2 small boys and this is our first summer in our forever home. (The house with our own yard and a playset we own ☺) our laundry has tripled bc we our outside all the time and the amount of dirt a young boy attracts is incredible! This washer would be amazing!

What an absolutely amazing product. This would be such a dream come true. My sweet Nana passed away in May and the washer and dryer we have is so old.. probably like 15 years old. i am a fitness instructor plus i workout several times a week myself… TONS of fitness clothes laundry :)

Reply

We divide and conquer chores and the kiddos help out too!

Reply

I would love this for my sweaty running clothes. I’ve never liked waiting for them to pile up enough to justify doing a load, so the bottom loader would be great.

Reply

We are a family of 6 with another lil one on the way, so laundry at our home can get quite overwhelming, specially around the summer time with the kids playing outside and sweating!

Reply

Would be so cool to win it, our old washer is gasping its last breath….lol

Reply

I have always loved LG’s appliances, so hi-tech and durable. Thanks for the chance to win this awesome prize.

Reply

Looks great for delicates!

Reply

I do all the laundry, he does all the dishes. I do most of the clutter/picking up and he does the bathrooms. I haven’t cleaned a toilet since my 11 year old son was potty trained! I figure if his dad didn’t teach him to aim well (and he didn’t!) that his dad can clean that up!

Reply

I would love to be able to wash my workout clothes separately from my other clothes at the same time! I hate doing laundry!

Reply

My current washer is probably almost 30 years old and came with the house when we bought it! It’s probably time for an upgrade soon…

Reply

I would love a separate washer just for my stinky running clothes! This is perfect :) Thanks for the giveaway!

Reply

I would love an LG Sidekick because I really think my current machine is making new dirt on my clothes ~ seriously.

Reply

Laundry is my second job according to all my friends. I think I have ruined some of my running clothes because I use to just throw it all in at once but now I am doing more laundry since I separate all my running clothes. The sidekick would be an amazing addition and would make my life a lot easier especially with our growing family.

Fingers crossed!

Laundry is one of my least favorite chores, but I’m pretty picky about how my clothes are washed…so I’m the one that does it all in our house. My husband just throws EVERYTHING in together, hits start, and goes! My favorite is probably the dishwasher and configuring it to get ALL THE THINGS in!!! LOL I was a huge Tetris fan growing up ;)

Reply

Worst chore in my house is probally dishes and bathroom duty. My oldest child helps but mostly its my husband and I. Love LG!!!

Reply

I didn’t even know washing machines were this high tech these days!! Hahaha I didn’t have my own washer/dryer in my last few apartments, but I just bought my current condo 2 months ago WITH laundry (it was a must)!!! The machines are probably 20 years ago, but I can’t even complain cause I don’t know how I ever survived without being able to do laundry in my own apartment…that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t take this nice fancy one if I won it though…… ;)

Reply

Wow! The washer looks AMAZING!

Reply

I’d love the awesome features to make my housework easier!

Reply

my washer and dryer must be from the 1960s, they are so out of date. i would love to do 2 loads at once since i always have so many workout clothes to wash!

Reply

I like to do the yard work. Hate cleaning gross things like the toilets or the inside of the trash can..

Reply

Laundry and grocery-shopping are my two least-favorite tasks! (Because with both, you’re somehow doing quadruple duty to get the task done, i.e. put the laundry in to wash, switch it to dry, take it out and fold it, then put it away–four steps to get one thing done! Same with groceries: you put the groceries in your cart, you unload them to pay for them, you load them into your car, you unload them from your car, then you still have to put them away!) I can totally relate to the lights/darks/tech meme–haha!! Having to wash all the tech gear separately is such a pain–how cool must it be to be able to wash tech and regular at once??!!?? Huge time-saver!

Reply

3 little kiddos = LOTS of dirty laundry! This would be so convenient!!

My son is buying an LG washer for his new house, I would love to surprise him with the Sidekick.

Reply

I just moved into a house last fall, and this would be a-mazing to keep up with all of my workout gear!!
